It was a little tricky finding a Korean Restaurant for lunch on Boxing day but I have had my eye on Mal Li Jang Sung for sometime and they were open! Seven of us were comfortably accommodated in a semi private room with a round table and lazy susan which was brilliant. The one odd feature of this restaurant is that the privacy walls are frames of raw 2x4s....but it worked (maybe they are waiting on paint ?). Our meal started with a bit of a hiccup as we did not receive menus upon arrival. I am not shy and went to inquire after a few minutes. The servers were genuinely apologetic, brought us menus immediately and were very attentive from that point on (including helping us to decide how to feed all these people - my partners family!). We ordered the Korean Deep Fried Chicken. We asked for half with sauce and half without which came on two plates and was an enormous order!. It was very good! The kids ate it up!. Not overly spicy but so crispy and tender. We had Seafood Fried Rice which was also nice and came on a plate with black bean sauce as an option. Finally, we ordered a combo for 2-3 people which included Sweet and Sour Pork, Noodles with Black Bean Sauce and Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup. All of these dished were very good. The pork with crispy and sweet while the soup was again, not too spicy. The amount of actual seafood was not overwhelming (squid and mussels) but this was my partners favorite. Even with 7 of us, we had leftovers. The servers graciously packed it up for us. Just over $80 including tax and tip, I thought this was a smoking deal. My only regret is that we did not order the Pork Bone Stew (which has become one of my Korean favorites) which looked amazing in the pictures on the menu. All the more reason to come back!

Behind the chicken place on king george, theres this great restaurant. Food is great the black bean noodles and spicy seafood noodles are great, the sweet and sour pork is bomb. I think they make there own noodles? it has a greenish hue, but tastes better than the frozen yellow ones that most places serve. Drop by if you get the chance.

Hidden Gem... Literally.. Not sure if this should be called fusion or whether it's Chinese food dumbed down for Koreans the same way it used to get dumbed down for Canadians. Whatever it is, it's a winning combination. The sweafood soup is excellent and although the black bean sauce doesn't look very appealing, it's truly awesome.

The only drawback about this place is it's location. It's easy to forget that it even exists and impossible to see from the main road. If you decide to drop n here though, you won't regret it.

Great for those who have a taste for spicy food. Their Spicy Chili Champon (Which is a spicier version of their regular champon) is excellent. I come back again and again to this place just for the Spicy Chili Champon. Be warned, it's very spicy if you're not used to eating spicy foods regularly. I've seen 5-6 thai peppers in the broth of one bowl alone. Quite amazing though, how they maintain the flavours with that much spice. After tasting this, all other champon places pale in comparison since the Spicy Chili Champon packs in so much punch.

Mal li jang sung. Service and interior are nothing to write home about but the food is yummy and the prices are very reasonable
the seafood fried rice is eggy, not greasy, and delicious.
potstickers are crispy, juicy and plump. they seem homemade. but i wish they came with a dipping sauce as opposed to a side squirt of ketchup. the ketchup kinda cheapens the dish
also really like the half stir fried/half raw salad(??) dish yang jang pie. it is quite large so i wouldn't order it unless there was a couple of friends to share it with.
sweet and sour pork is yummy. a bit overbreaded and overcooked but i like that it's crispy and the sauce isn't too sweet or tart and it's a nice change from the kind you get at a chinese restaurant
most of the dishes could do with a bit more salt tho

Found hidden gem here. We ordered the weekday only lunch special for 16.99 per person. It has 3 main dishes plus 2 bowls of noodle soup. Come with 2 little dishes appetizers , Kimchi n pickle Daikon. To our suprised, the meal was delicious especially the Korean style sweet sour pork chop that was just freshly deep fried and maintained it crispness even it dipped in sauce, yum yum. This is must try. But keep in mind , the servers has limited English.

I used to come to this place for Korean style Chinese foods as the foods were the best in terms of price and quality. However, I was disappointed to find out it was gone. A few days ago, I happened to drop in to try their new Korean food menu. Wow, I was happy to find out the old owner is still working, and the food surprised me (actually a group of four) with the high quality and generous portion. The price is reasonable, rather cheap considerting the size of each dish. Although I don't live nearby, but I will definately come back whenever I want to eat Korean foods. Try Yangutang and Ganpunggi. The best one among Korean restaurants in Vancouver.

Huge portions, 2 of us $47 tip including but we packed a lot of things away, probably can last 2 more meals for the 2 of us each.. Food quality is amazing, one of the best Korean-Chinese place I have had

Great value for great portions and quality! I happened to check out restaurants near my office and found that this place apparently reopened with a new name. I'm not sure if they performed renos as it was my first visit but their website indicated that takeout orders have a 15% discount until the end of May. Ordered these two dishes (the bulgogi deopbap and galbi tang) - totally worth. The beef in the rice dish was hidden underneath. It was more than expected actually. Will return!

I have dined at this restaurant since they pretty much opened, food is always consistently amazing, service is excellent, staff are very friendly, parking out front and back, can be challenging when its busy. Highly recommend this place for some good eats!

Came here for Jokbal (Boiled pork hock) and spicy chewy dry noodle. The pork was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of fat. The noodle was a little bland but overall we were pretty satisfied with the meal! They also have Chinese Korean cuisine in addition (food from other tables looked good) so will come back to try other them.

The black bean noodle is super good here. I also had the Bossam medium size and it tastes super good. When you order the bossam, you also get the cold noodle as like a set. The cold noodle was also super good and huge. More than enough for two guys. Rice is not included when you order the bossam so don’t be too upset when you have to order it separately. They also give you fresh vegetables and traditional korean kimchi type for the bossam. Highly recommend. I’d come here often only if I didn’t live so far away.
