Review Boiling Point - Surrey

Truly authentic Taiwanese style personal hotpot with many flavors to choose from. Delicious! Modern clean and hip decor. Excellent service. Fairly priced. Try their spicy beef pot or Thai style pot, both are awesome! Easy 5 stars.

Very good hotpot. The food was tasty and really hit the spot for what we were looking for; some comfort food with decent portions and a good price. My only regret is I didn't get to try their Thai Fusion as they were sold out. Overall, the entire experience was a really good one. I would have given 4 stars or more but a couple of things stood out negatively for me. They only bill by table so if you come there with a friend or date, one person has to pay for the entire table and you are left to figure out the split by yourself. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect separate bills for two people who just shared a table and had two different orders. We were also brought water and a drink we ordered in plastic and paper cups which did not scream quality or sustainable. Barring these two factors, it was definitely a 4 star experience.

It was my friend time there, my friends been there before so told me to come along and try out this place. I was expecting any special, thought it's just normal veggie and meat in a hot pot. But to my surprise it was better than I thought. The soup base and sauces was different. Decent amount of meat and veggie. And price is not that expensive for the portion of the meal. Comes with Rice or Noodles. Okay service, waitress could have smiled or been or energetic. but overall I would go back again.

Awesome service! Don't think I've ever been to a Chinese restaurant where the servers have come multiple times to ask if everything is okay and keep our water glasses full. The regular size hotpots were filling as is. Delicious! Will definitely come back to this location!

Great place to come for a quick hotpot. Prices are good food is good. And the ppl working there are great. Lots of different options to choose from. One hotpot is actually quite big. Big for one person but maybe a bit small for 2 depending. But well worth it. A great place to go in the winters or rainy days.

Really delicious food and drinks at Boiling Point! Nice, new and modernly decorated. The seating is a bit tight, but something about the high ceilings and the setup almost makes you forget about that once seated. I really appreciate the servers here for having to navigate and run around the tight spaces so much, carrying giant hot soups nonetheless! They are really great. The beef hot soup we had has a very rich and flavourful broth. I think I like the taste better when it’s watered down, but it’s still good no matter how rich the broth. I noticed no water is served when dining, nor do they ask, but it can be requested. However the cups for water are a bit small, which makes it inconvenient if you drink lots of it. I feel bothersome asking for more water multiple times, especially if they are busy, which also means waiting awhile to get more water sometimes. Taller cups/pitchers would definitely be better and mean less running around for the server when they’re already so busy. This might be trivial, but the spoons here are quite giant which makes it difficult to sip without tilting it very high. Maybe it’s just me, but every time I have soup here I choke a bit because of how difficult it is to sip from the giant spoon |:

A regular at this location. it's always the Perfect pot to warm up any time. Love Boiling Point’s loaded hot pot with variety of toppings and broths! Lunch set also comes with choice of rice/vermicelle & tea drink. The beef hot soup pot is my personall favourite because it comes with all of my favourite toppings inside. I espeically love that you can customize the spicy level too. Beef Hot Soup - $13.56

Mild was too spicy. Advertised with crab but no crab. Ordered appetizer that never came. 1:2 the meals came and we had to ask when the other 1/2 were coming out. Not able to split the bill. $135 for 6 people and that was with a 10% discount after complaining. Didn’t seem organized... just our experience. We probably won’t be back.

I was very disappointed, we have gone by the restaurant a few times and thought it was a cool looking place so we tried it tonight.... first off it was like the arctic inside.. I had to wear my hood up on my hoodie... I received my hot soup and had one bite and couldn't eat it... it just wasn't good... I asked for the manager to take it away and he did... didn't ask if I wanted to try anything else, just took it... when it was time to get the bill I noticed that the meal was still on the bill... he never once offered to comp my meal.. I am not just trying to get a free meal but I didn't eat!!! This is the worst customer service I have seen in along time.. will not recommend this to anyone.. better yet I will tell people to steer clear....

The food and service were amazing. I remember the waiter’s name was called Dennis. He was professional and super helpful. He took his time and explained the menu to us. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and come back more often.

I just want to say I am impress with the food an service. Food us reasonably price ad service is spectacular. We love our server Dennis. He is very friendly and patient with us. He is always very accommodating too even if we decided to change the order the last minute. If you get Dennis as your server, you can expect the best, the best experience!

Very friendly service, great food and reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this location. There's a shorter wait here compared to other locations so that's a bonus. Our server Dennis is very attentive and does a great job!

Had the beef hit pot. It was very good. Fresh and tasty. Medium spicy was pretty hot. Service was fast and good .

The food was great! Just disappointed for I asked for Light spicy and they mistakenly gave me medium and I can't enjoy eating because it was too spicy fir me, they just kept pouring soup on my food and never offered to change it since it's their mistake not mine, the servers were nice but not customer service oriented. The price is kinda high for the quantity and soup selection is so limited.

I come to this location multiple times a year with my friends and family. Wonderful service and short wait time for the orders to come. Always tasty! Thank you!

Me and my family went to this place last night around 7pm November 13 to celebrate a double birthday. We enjoy the food it was great but the service specially the long hair girl wearing pony tails she is so rude, she's not nice at all and I don't like the way she make face to my mom the rest of the staff is nice but her she has an attitude this is the first time I encounter that kind of attitude in this store.

I was in your shop last Wednesday evening for dinner, there was a waiter whose name tag shows Jaden, he was full of smell of alcohol. You guys don't sell alcohol, how could this happen?

Was served by Dennis who was really friendly. Great service and the meal was served promptly. Thank you :)

Food and service are great. Defenitely will be back.
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
The type of hot pot served at Boiling Point is of the no-nonsense, everything arrives in your bowl type, and the server lights a burner allowing your soup to happily bubble away. Purists would probably be aghast that we would allow others to assemble and cook our hot pot but initially, it seemed like a good idea to us. Most lunch hot pots are within the $15 to $19 range and are available with add ons and sides as a combo. We each tried a side at $5. First up was Spicy Cumin Lamb which was tender and tasty and had just a bit of a spicy bite. The meat did not seem to have any kind of grill treatment which might have perked things up a bit. Next up was Garlic Pork Belly looking remarkably like bacon without the crispy. Again tasty due to the sauce. The sauces available are definitely a strong point at BP. Texturally both of these appetizers left a little to be desired.I had the Tonkatsu Miso for my hot pot. It was a nice mix of unimpressive chasu (this is not a ramen shop), a couple of shrimp and tasty broth. The highlight for me was tofu skin and a nice selection of mushrooms. Like all of their hot pots, you can choose your level of spicy. Served with a bowl of rice (or noodles), I rescued my shrimp from the broth by moving them to the rice. It seemed like this was probably what was intended for all the ingredients to prevent us from burning our mouths! Marie had the House Special which also featured quite a variety of ingredients. We didn't expect a lot of any one thing but in total, there was a lot of food in both of these pots! Read the list of ingredients on the menu carefully. If you are not a big fan of pork intestines know that a little goes a long way. We had leftovers that we took home but reheating the soup with the intestines seemed to increase the flavour considerably. Each hot pot comes with the previously mentioned rice and complimentary tea (at least at lunchtime). If you can figure it out, the tea glass gives the history of BP. Its a nice little restaurant with a bunch of tables for two and a few places for larger groups. They seemed to remain busy all of the time we were there (Sunday afternoon). The staff were friendly enough but maybe a little run off their feet. The most important thing is that they seemed sure-handed carrying the hot soup and burners.

Thursday lunch by myself because I didn't have work during the Xmas break so my usual coworkers gang didn't join me. I got the beef hot pot with free iced black tea (free during lunch only). The pot itself is average but it's the build-your-own sauce that's the game changer. Usually I would have 3 scoops of everything (satay, garlic, peanut butter, and hot chili oil) as my dipping sauce. Adding tax and tips it comes to around $17 so a tad bit pricey but oh well it's the holiday season so why not have something warm and cozy.

I like their beef hotpot - that’s what I order most of the time. They have limited selection but it’s ok because they have BOGO for the drinks and you get a free drink during lunch time.

They offer you 4 different sauces which you can mix - so the soup can taste better I guess?

Typical hot pot bistro. This Taiwanese hot pot has become popular in the US and Canada.

The hot pot is average with limited selection.

The service can be slow at times.

Now here's a fascinating restaurant experience. As we came in and got seated I didn't know what to make of it at first, as I have never seen a restaurant like this. They even have a brochure on the table to let you read about the (according to the waiter) privately owned chain from California.
So, the cuisine is Asian fusion with a Taiwanese slant I think. The focus is soup with rice or noodles. It comes served boiling hot on a robust heater unit - very spiffy presentation. You can ask them to turn off the flame once it's served.
There's only one pescatarian choice and no vegetarian choices unfortunately. All other items are made with pork, beef or lamb. But they told me they are working on having more vegetarian choices in a couple of months.
The meals were delicious and the serving size was very reasonable. You can pick your meal's hotness level from 0-4. I picked a 2 - medium and wouldn't want it any hotter than that. My mom ordered a 1 - mild and found it too too hot. The cold tea comes in a sealed cup. Don't try to open the seal, it doesn't work. Instead stab the cover with the straw.
Service was very friendly, helpful and clean. Even though I have only one choice on their menu, I'll have to come back with friends and family just to see them experiencing this place.

I was really excited to try their vegetarian bowl but I was just underwhelmed with it. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't spectacular. And there weren't many filling sources of protein or anything in it. It had a peculiar after taste and when I ordered the dish that was clearly stated as vegetarian, the waitress asked if I was okay with the broth being cooked with meat lol. I really hope they come up with more plant-based options. (Maybe a miso broth??) the smell in the restaurant is also pretty pungent so just be prepared for that if you plan on visiting haha. Overall, not a horrible place though. I enjoyed the bubble tea that I got and the rest of my family generally liked their dishes (though they didn't find it to be overwhelmingly amazing).

Boiling Point opened their newest location in Surrey, BC close to Guildford Town Centre. Their specialty is Taiwanese hot pot and they have with a few locations in BC and more in the US. They are best known for their personalized hot pots and bubble tea. I was invited by ChineseBites and tried all their hot pots with a few other foodie. I’ve been to the other locations, but it was nice to try another location to see whats new.

Curry Fishball Hot Pot, Korean Bean Paste Hot Pot, and Japanese Miso Hot Pot were my top 3 choices. With all the dishes, we did find that the meat all lumped together and was hard to pull apart. Anything with crab is super hard to eat since you have to pick out the meat from inside the shell.

If you're craving for some hot soupy dish on cold rainy days, definitely check it out.

Trying out this latest edition to the growing North American mini hotpot chain. Got invited by Chinesebites for a feast here, sampling 8 of their mini hotpots, two of their newest appetizers and snow cubes. Nobody was left hungry, that’s for sure!. Loving their cold drinks! The Hokkaido Milk flavor is my favorite! (left)

Yum! I've been to a lot of boiling points before and I'm never unhappy with their food. When I saw that they we're opening at guilford I was so happy because I live in Surrey and I usually have to go to the Richmond location. But their service isn't great and water is served in paper cups??? But this location i think had way better service. Go during their lunch hours you get rice, the soup and a tea for less but during the dinner times you just get rice and soup for more money. And get the lamb one!

Wok in a box! Filling hot pot style dinner. We ordered the beef and lamb dishes in medium spicy heat. Woo! Did we need water! We'd definitely come back, this time during lunch to get a free beverage for the same price as dinner!

The food was not bad but i could taste that they use frozen or old ingredients. you literally could not enjoy your food because there are always 2 waitress just staring at you eating. also if you eat with a friend and wanting to separate the bill, they don't do that shit your just gonna have to pay together. So my experience at this restaurant was I felt like I was in a 192 dojo palace.
The new Boiling Point Hot Pot in Surrey, BC is small, but airy compared to the other outlets in Burnaby which they cramped as many people as possible.
The layout was well planned and comfortable.

You can actually sit properly and hang your oversize winter jacket.
The thing that standout the most other than the food was the servers could actually speak English, something that is unheard-of in many Chinese restaurants. The service for this locale was very good.

We were six of us, office colleagues, either we paid all together with cash or one could pay with credit card. The policy is that we can't split the bill and pay by credit as individuals. The only positive thing about this, is that I got six stamps on my points card.

My colleagues had the Beef, Korean Bean Paste and the Lamb hot pots.
They were all excellent.
I was the only one who ventured out and tried the House Special with Fermented Tofu and Pig meat and did not disappoint.
It tasted amazingly good.
