Review Sushi King House - Surrey

If you love sushi and want something that gives a bang for your buck in terms of filling you up, this is the place. My son could not finish a spicy tuna roll and spicy Salmon roll because the portion is huge. Never has that ever happened before .

Terrible food. Waited almost half an hour for my food, only 6 people in the restaurant. Dirty, smelly place, tempura is starchy and served with bottled sauce. Beef teriyaki was not even warm but room temperature. Was probably sitting for 15 minutes before I got it. People that say this is one of the best sushi places around obviously have no idea what sushi is. The bento box I ordered said 4 pcs of sashimi. It came with one tuna one salmon, toro and a piece of cooked ebi?? How is this sashimi? Nikko sushi a block away is far better I will never go to this place again!

The man who greeted us was extremely kind and made sure I had a cold bottle of water when I mentioned to my friend that I was thirsty. The food was amazing as well.

This was truly some of the best, if not the best sushi I've ever had. The rice was ultra fresh and soft and the rolls were HUGE. The owner/chef was adorably attentive and chatty. We will definitely go back for more! And the ginger was golden not pink! 🥳

My favorite Japanese restaurant here in Canada. Good value for food since it’s affordable and have a decent amount of food per order.Plus, they have a nice server. Bento Box A Beef Teriyaki and Takoyaki are the best here!

Staff always friendly. Portion sizes are huge. Good quality food. Prices are affordable. We don't go anywhere else for sushi.

Good value for the money. I would have given this review 4 Stars, but the service wasn't very good. The restaurant was under staffed. However, the waitress was very nice. The portions are large- some of the biggest rolls I've eaten! The prawn tempura was crispy but not greasy. If I'm in the area, I'll stop in for another meal.

The food is consistently tasty, presented well, and the portions abundant. The staff is always warm and welcoming. My wife and l visit frequently, often bringing friends or family, and love it every time. The full name is SUSHI KING HOUSE, as shown on their take-out menu. Lots of free parking and it's probably right on bus route. Enjoy!

I was craving sushi and my husband suggested to come here for somewhere new to try. There was what appeared to be 2 front end staff and one cook. It wasn’t overly busy. Once we made our minds up and ordered, the food came out at a reasonable pace. So we started off with miso soup. I found it strange that the front end staff ‘preped’ it. They took out the tofu from the pop cooler and put some in each bowl, put a few scoops of some powdered stuff in as well, then opened up a crockpot and ladled in some fluids. This is strange in as much as this should be pre made and done in the kitchen. I noticed the cook had disappeared to the washroom for about 5-10 minutes. During this time, the lady who took our order was now making our order of tempura. I noticed she didn’t wash her hands. This establishment has food safe certificates posted, thats one important step you are taught. The tempura had an odd texture, almost like they were pre battered and cooked off site then deep fried to serve. The tempura didn’t have the usual panko crunch, it was like biting into a pancake like prawn. The cook finally comes back. I don’t know if he washed his hands while using the restroom, but he sure didn’t wash his hands when he got back. The pieces of the rolls were way to big to fit into your mouth. Whats up with that. I also notices that the front end staff preping dixie cups of dipping sauce and also ginger. Take it to the back, patrons don’t need to see a factory line going on at one of the tables.

For the price I have to say that overall I was impressed. The California rolls were tightly rolled and the cucumber and avocado tasted fresh. The Vancouver roll and Las Vegas roll were not as well rolled as the California roll but were also delicious. The Miso Soup was mostly broth but the taste was neither salty nor watery. The Tempura was on its own flavourless and lacked the expected crunch. It was more like a fish batter and kind of foamy in texture. The couple who run the place are very pleasant and likeable people, very good with the two children who were there with their father. Also it’s worth noting that they only accept cash and debit so don’t leave home without one of them.

never had a bad meal here! and I've been coming here for years! portions are big! the sushi is always fresh. it takes a bit of skill to eat the big rolls without having them fall apart, but once you figure it out, its no problem! delicious and great value!

the whole restaurant smells really funky and even if the food portions are big it tastes really old.I honestly feel disgusted coming here.I do not recommend this place unless you want to ruin your day. There are better sushi restaurants around cloverdale.

ordered takeout from here tonight and was so so disappointed. My california and dynamite rolls were poorly made and fell apart as I tried to pick them up. The yam tempura coating was very thick and not the same tasting as other tempura I have had. The chicken yakisoba and Chicken teryiaki don were both barely edible. just not an enjoyable taste at all. I was very disappointed with the food and WILL NOT be returning.

BAD, BAD and WORSE. If you are looking for a BAD eating experience, come eat here!! SLOW service, COLD food, BAD quality. I think that sums up our experience. They cater to the pick up order and ignore the in house customers. The wait staff (1 girl) has NO CLUE what service means. The food was below par, COLD and BAD. I didn't think you could make a bad California roll but just order one here! SAVE your money and save the AGRIVATION... DON"T EAT HERE!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

DIRTY AND DISGUSTING. I have never written a bad review; however, this place is gross, never again.

Been here several times now since it's so close to where we live. Have had nothing but good experiences here. Sushi always tastes fresh and the price is good. No complaints here

Not Good. If you are expecting great quality sushi then go somewhere else. The rolls are too big (i know who complains about that) but you can't pick them up or bite it without it falling apart on your lap or all over the table! The tempura is super heavy and the chicken was dry and tasteless! I will absolutely never return.

Last time I went there the rolls were so big ya couldn't even fit it in your mouth. When ya did try and bite it in half it just fell apart and it didn't taste very fresh horrible sushi!! For now on I will stick with my regular sushi place! Hiro sushi on Fraser highway by willowbrook mall is the best!

Fantastic! There was a fair wait for our food, but we ordered a lot. Everything was fantastic. The portions are ridiculously huge and the quality is good. Prices are low. Planning on going every time I am in town.

Great value. First time there I waited 45 mins for my order but was distracted so didn't notice until after. The food was great and massive portions. Subsequent visits have noted a rather fishy smell (not a good sign) walking in thru the back entrance. Crossed fingers and hoped for the best. Food was good but feels like the quality is slipping slightly. However, I will still go back. Overall it us still good value.

The sushi here is not your usual petite morsel of bites. The sushi here must be at least 1.5 times the size but not in price.
I am Japanese and as long as you stay away from the "Ramen" they offer, you are good.
The sushi is good, The chicken teriyaki is good, The various rolls are good, The portions are big, the piece seems good.
I will be back when I get the craving to have sushi.

Never again. I rarely write bad reviews this will be an exception.
Not sure what the people in the kitchen are doing, I got the Bento Box with sashimi, tempura, chicken teriyaki, rice and salad. Both teriyaki chicken over the rice and tempura were dry and barely warm despite the fact that I was one of 2 tables and the other was finished. Sashimi was huge salmon 1/4 inch thick and 2 inches long and tuna 1/2 inch thick and 3 inches long, none of the sashimi was very cold so between that and the size I question the freshness.

Same as the other Sushi Kings.. This place has only been open for two months (as of this review). It's pretty much the same quality as the ones in Vancouver (my cousin says that it's the sushi chef from Granville that's here now). So expect big sushi and reasonable prices. Because it's so new it's still very clean and was moderately busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Their decor is certainly eye-grabbing, but that's the only thing I'll say about it.
