Review Imperial Garden Chinese Cuisine - Surrey

One of the few decent options for dim sum in South Surrey. It’s no Kirin but has some different options not offered on traditional/usual dim sum menu. Most choices are good, however I would avoid any of the “rice roll” items, (usually overcooked), especially the “Chinese donut” roll as they changed the wrapper to pink/food coloured which is unusual. Recommend: Shanghai dumplings are good but not the best. Squid with chilli (which was taken off the menu, but you can still order it). Congee is also decent. Scallop/shrimp dumplings are good as well.

The Imperial Garden restaurant is not inside the Semiahmoo mall and has an outside entrance. Really only shares a building roof. We really liked the food with a nice cooking style. Definitely a food upgrade, nice meal, at a fair price in a comfortable setting. Thanks .....

My experience was terrific. The chairs were comfortable and the atmosphere was nice. I ordered the sweet & sour pork, while my friend ordered beef with black bean sauce on a sizzling plate. It did take a bit of time to prepare, but that's to be expected at a restaurant. The food tasted great to the both of us, and we'll be coming here more often. If you like Chinese food, Imperial Garden Chinese Cuisine is definitely worth checking out!

Had the fixed dinner for 2 last weekend and enjoyed it so much we returned today for dim sum and are glad we did. All dishes were delicious, especially the calamari, the shrimp dumplings and the stuffed eggplant. Service was prompt and friendly. Tablecloths and white dishware added to the classy impression of the room. We’ll be back with family & friends.

Really good. Food was hot and fresh, service was quick and attentive. Pork buns were tasty. I think they were not on the English menus but I asked and we got some steamed BBQ pork buns. After dinner we got hot fresh lemon cookies. whole experience was solid. Will go back.

Under new name and new ownership... When we were there for dinner, only 2 tables in the restaurant and 2 servers, but service somewhat disorganized and slow. Perhaps still training(?)because had to ask for everything (water, tea, menus, etc). Staff very nice and pleasant. Items didnt come out together, so some were getting cold while we waited. Soup was lovely, vegetable dishes very fresh...but buns rather salty and lemon chicken was overly sweet and (fried)chicken not crispy.

Good Cantonese dim sum in a quiet location. Service is prompt and friendly. Dishes are delicious and reasonably priced. A bit less salty would garner that highest star rating. Will be returning to try out other dishes that they offer. Came back and the dim sum is very good now! 😁

We have eaten at this Chinese restaurant several times. Starting with dinner during their soft opening, their free lunch buffer during their official opening, then dim sum lunch and dinner post official opening. For us, service is No. 1 criterion to judge a restaurant. We found the management and the servers to be very friendly, courteous and helpful. Service was a little slow and disorganized on our first dinner during the soft opening. That was understandable as the staff was under training. They tried hard to make sure we had a good meal. The manager introduced himself and invited us to the official opening. As for food quality, I would say it is on par with some of the better Chinese restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond. We enjoyed the dim sum and crispy noodles. They were good. Some of the memorable dinner dishes are hot and sour soup, stir fried four seasons bean, ginger and green onion oyster hot pot, sweet and sour fish. This is another of our go to restaurants. We will be trying out their other dishes in future visits. Update 2019/03/02: We have been eating dim sum, lunch and dinner at this restaurant quite often since it opened last year. Tonight we went there for a celebration dinner. We were warmly greeted by the owner (I think) and seated right away. We ordered our food right away and was advised against one seafood dish as it was not fresh enough. His advice was appreciated and we ordered another dish. Even though it appeared that the restaurant was slightly understaffed tonight, service was prompt. Food was good and we had an enjoyable meal. The TV facing us was showing a show that we thought might not be suitable for the restaurant. We called a person who appeared to be either a senior staff or manager to change the channel. Well, we were not prepared for his response. He asked what channel we liked. We suggested sport channel. But we didn't know which channel. He then abruptly said, "I am busy. You are leaving soon anyway." and walked away. An enjoyable dinner now marred by this unpleasant encounter. I hope this is not a common behaviour.
