Review A Taste Of Punjab - Surrey

Neha Bains
Major food safety issue!!! One of the pakoda in kadi pakoda had rubber band in it and salad had mold on it. Chaat papdi tasted like papdi in water and 2-3 spoons of spoiled yogurt. Garbaged right away. Mango chicken felt like eating chicken pieces in sugar syrup. Felt nauseated and threw up!! Ordered punjabi kadi pakoda, mango chicken and chat papdi from this place along with some naans through Uber eats. Worst food ever!!!!

Pretty good! Ordered butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lamb briyani, garlic naans, cauliflower, mango lassi- good not too sweet, sweet lassi, mango ice cream, ras malai! The chili was good and tamarind sauce was pretty good too!

Great service, generous portion sizes and reasonable prices. We tried the Chef’s Recommendations (Vegetable Thali and Punjabi Dinner Combo) which had a variety of items so we could try a bit of everything. Our favourite was the lamb curry and butter chicken - very tasty and flavourful. Would definitely be coming back to try their other amazing dishes, highly recommended!

I just order yesterday. Food was awful. I could open a jar from Save-On and it would have been better. And I'm not going to complain with out explanation. This place used to be great. Gone down hill in the last few years. Maybe a change in ownership? The pandemic? Doesn't matter! I will not spend $40 dollars for two dishes, that I have to make better at my house. You get two stars for the size of the portions, because I'm feeling generous.

- We ordered chai, was about alright. - samosas took a lot of time than expected, this we had to cancel the order. - sweets look pretty dated, so we didn’t consider buying.

Worst samosa ever Looks like the had prepared them long time back and when someone orders they just deep fry again and serve it. You can clearly see the old bad oil and this looks like the oil was not hot at the time of cooking. Also I would request the owner to not reply me back with the same copy past words of " sorry about your bad experience. Please give us one more chance you will not be disappointed"

Ordered dahi bhlla, This is what i got for 5$. Charge 1 or 2 dollars more atleast give a size that is enough for one person. Look at the picture, is it enough for one person? No flavors, no souce or chattni, only one little bhlla in this container. It seems like joke to me!!!worst dahi bhalla in surrey! With nothing inside only dahi/yogurt.

Friendly staff and good service, but restaurant needs to work on its ambience and cleanliness. Drink ware and glassware were not clean. Food was okay.

your chef needs to go to india and look at the chinese food served in india as you have written that in the menu that you serve indian style chinese. No indian style noodles have green peas in them and also such big pieces of carrot and beans. The taste was really very bad and please ask your chef not to serve that to the customers as it is total waste of money for the people having that. Worst taste ever had.
Alex Sam
Taste the flavor of Punjab. You can now get the best quality food at Taste of Punjab. They have the best Indian food available. Do visit them!

Riculously small portions for the butter chicken talli. There were only 5 very small cubes of chicken (maybe 2 oz total) swimming in a lake of sauce. The rice was undercooked and crunchy and the side salad was literally only one bite. I thought it was a joke or some kind or a mistake so I took a photo of this laughable platter. I was looking forward to a good Indian fill up but left disappointed without eating.

Taste of Punjab scores high not just in the sphere of north India cuisine but also in the department of Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. I especially enjoyed a few glasses of Mounton Cadet-Baron Rothschild France. They have a nice collection of drinks here. As for the food, it is quite heavenly. Spicy, hot, creamy Punjabi cuisine. It is tasty as well as fulfilling.

Food was good but could have came with more panneer. Service was okay, servers barley used their manner or acknowledged we used ours. Hope for a better experience next time.

visited the place a month ago really liked the food authentic indian food karhyai chicken is my favourite here i liked the ambience and easy to locate it

The main plus point about this restaurant is it's location. The food is good especially their aloo parathas, lunch thaali and appetizers. However, the place I find is a little dark and tiny. Overall, a good option for to-go.

This famous Indian restaurant is located in King George Centre.<br/><br/>The ambience of the place is cozy and the seating arrangement is decent and not congested at all. We ordered mixed snack platter, Punjabi soup, spinach naan, Shahi paneer and vegetable Korma and the food was in sufficient quantity for the entire group of 6 people. The taste of the food was delicious and the bread was properly cooked. We were reminded of our Punjabi taste which we get in the Indian state of Punjab. This place is highly recommended!

just had kadhai paneer and garlic naan yesterday kadhai panner was lil oilly but naan was too good 😊 will order again and good value of money

Came here to give this place a try. Décor and ambiance is ok. Service could also be better.<br/>As for food, I ordered two dishes. <br/>-Butter chicken with white rice. The butter chicken was bland, lacking flavour and depth in the gravy – to the point where it was watery.  The rice? Unfortunately overcooked.-Tandoori chicken. This is the most basic and sought after dish in Western Indian cooking. How can you potentially mess this up? Well, it was downright awful. The tandoori chicken lacked flavour, obviously was not marinated too long. It was burnt and very dry. Charred skin is one thing, as the chicken can still be juicy within, but burnt and dry chicken is a sign that a) the chicken was reheated in the microwave or b) cooked prior and reheated in a convection oven. <br/><br/>Not a good experience by any means. There's tons of great options popping up in Central Surrey so this place will need to definitely ramp up their quality.

Chicken tikka masala is LOVE! Hubby also likes their butter chicken! Try their garlic naan too, super yum! They should improve on their restaurant because its outdated (in my opinion) but overall food is good 👍🏻

this place has the worst indian style chinese ever. the chef making these needs to go india and try the noodles over there no puts peas in the noodles and such big pieces of beans so please do not serve these kind of noodles as indian style that’s a request as it was total waste of money.
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
Apparently, this is the greatest restaurant in the world as everyone seems to rate it as a 5 out of 5! Either that or everyone  who rated it is a friend of the owners. Actually, scroll down a bit and in contrast to the 5s you see a few hostile ratings of 1 and 2!. Let's try to keep our emotions in check people! Few restaurants deserve either a 1 or a 5! To be so extreme only confuses people like me. In the end, we have to find out for ourselves whether the restaurant is  good or not! It's a tough job but we are up to the challenge! We started with a Mixed Snack Platter which was a nice assortment of different pakora and a samosa. We found all of them to be tasty, just salty enough, and obviously the pakora were freshly fried. The accompaniments were the usual tamarind sauce and a mint chutney. Here is where it got a little weird. The chutney was very bitter. I was not in a hurry to dismiss it as a problem. I am open to bitter flavours and asked our server if there was bitter melon or some such ingredient making this a variation on the typical Mint Chutney. I am afraid that I only confused her. Later I googled the question and learned that the mint stalks may turn a chutney bitter. At any rate, it was not supposed to taste like that....deduct points (especially for not addressing the problem when it was brought to the servers attention)! Next up was Butter Chicken Thali. We found that their was a fair bit of tender chicken just under the surface. I still feel like this dish could be served by everyone as chicken with sauce rather than sauce with chicken but this plate at $10.49 including naan, rice and salad is not a bad deal. Finally, trying to branch out from my usual lamb, we decided to try Masala Fish. This came with rice and was a very tasty dish. Lots of vegetables that were cooked just right and a rich sauce that made this very comforting! Our server was friendly enough. I confused her again by asking if Taste of Punjab is a family run business. Still not sure of what the answer would be. Service was not speedy to the point where I almost got up to ask if they had forgotten about us. The place could have been a little cleaner. Our table cloth (over the edge of the table) bore serious evidence of what the previous diners had enjoyed. But still, we were comfortable and enjoyed our meal, other than the mint chutney thing. I might not be so picky if it were not for the ridiculous number of 5 ratings on Zomato. This restaurant is a solid 3 or 3 1/2 and perfectly fine.

The Resteraunt is never too busy at the time we go so we can converse unhindered by loud noises and relax. The service is great and the food is customized to each persons preference of mild, medium or spicy. We recommend it.

Many people still think that Indian cuisine offers only the best chicken items, but the truth is that it has some of the best vegetarian items as well like the Taste of Punjab. I went to the restaurant a month back and just loved it. The quality of the food along with the generous quantities will make anyone happy.
Devesh Chauhan
I thought that they won’t have any vegetarian dishes here and did not really want to come here when some of my friends asked me to meet them at this restaurant. But I was quite surprised to know that they offer quite a lot of vegetarian dishes! And these were quite tasty too, at least the ones that I ordered.
Anant Gupta
We had the BEST dal makhni and veg jalfrezi in the whole of Canada at this place. I loved the service and the attention. The prices were reasonable and the portions were huge. Ambience was lovely too. Will visit again!
Tijendra Seo
Service has been good every time I have been there. One time I showed up with a group of 15 and they kindly say us in the party room. Thanks

I'll Return. My daughter and I dined here a week ago and really enjoyed our food. We ordered Vegetarian as she's a vegetarian, and found quite an extensive menu for her.
Aravind Seo
We shared the Channa Masala and the Vegetable Korma. Both were delicious. Perhaps a bit smaller amount that my previous visit last year, but excellent. So good that we ordered take out a couple of days later.

Who would thought that there is a Punjabi cuisine restaurant in Canada so near to our home? I’m just surprised that I did not come across this place before. The restaurant is quite large. But that’s not why I’m writing this review. I’m writing it because the food was amazing and I’ve found the staff to be especially polite and professional.

.You need to order the Chicken Biryani here. If not, you are surely missing something! I just went to the Taste of Punjab restaurant yesterday and tasted the Chicken Biryani. Since then, I have become a fan of this Punjabi cuisine restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. You need to go there to see how amazingly good they are.
Endeavour Africa
The staff here is very friendly yet professional at all time. I told them that I don’t like too much butter in my food in any form and they said that they will do their best to comply. I know that it may have been tough for them as food may be cooked beforehand. However, when my order arrived I was pleasantly surprised a bit that it had only minimum levels of oil and butter!

My family and I went to the Taste of Punjab restaurant last week and we still can’t forget the experience. Yes, it is truly a unique and eye-opening experience going there. Firstly, you can appreciate other cultures around the world. Second, it was amazing that there are more than a hundred dishes on the menu! This is something I am sure I’ve never seen in other restaurants.

Just a couple of months back we planned for a gala event for our local chapter. We decided to offer something exotic and different to the guests and ended up finalizing on Punjabi cuisine from Taste of Punjab. We never regretted our decision! Today, even after a few months the guests still ask us about where we got the scrumptious Punjabi food from! Thank you Taste of Punjab!

I Ordered lamb seekh kababs, it was way too dry. Didn’t like it at all. Butter chicken was just about average. Quantity was decent. Don’t recommend this restaurant. Disappointed

I tasted the seafood and special lamb recipes from Taste of Punjab, they are simply mouthwatering. I am happy to have visited them. I'd love to visit again to taste it!

I am completely in love with Taste of Punjab. They have the finest chef in the world. Love Taste of Punjab! I am happy to have visited them.

Love Taste of Punjab! They have the incredible quality of Indian food with the secret and amazing recipes. I always recommend this restaurant.

The butter chicken has barely any chicken in it. I've ordered it the past 3 times and it was the same. I've asked for more chicken the 2/3 times but still get the same amount. Everything else on their menu is okay. The only exception dish was their eggplant bharta.
Meghan Mcd
I had the prawn masala, it was just awful...! Butter chicken also very 'blah'. Check out somewhere else, this place was disappointing. I like Gateway Pizza instead for great Indian food.
Rebecca Gu
Lack of customer service,we are the only table in the restaurant. Honestly I d like to have Indian food at food court without service there. Food portion is not that enough for me lol.
Devganneha88
Awful and stale dahi bhalle and choley bhature , overpriced and lacks customer service, decor was kind of dark and the waiting period was almost 45 minutes just for the above mentioned dishes , wasn't that busy .

The food is okay. The atmosphere is great. The waitress seems to be mad at me with no reason..<br/>The place is quite. No sure whether Indians hate Asian haha

Was here a few months ago and decided to leave my review since it popped up on my feed. This was by far my favourite Indian restaurant and I don't really know what happened. I went in with my friend and when we ordered the vegetable pakora, they served us cut in half, twice fried pakora. I'm pretty sure that someone returned it earlier and they refried it and put it in front of us. I can't ever go back. I used to send everyone here and I can't believe they'd do that. Fair warning.

I have been three few times, It's not the place when you would like to try authentic North Indian food. But it's good place get an idea of North indian food.
Gurjit Singh
Really good service and food.<br/>One of my favorites because of their great variety of Veggie dishes. Love their Shahi Paneer, Karahi Paneer, Veggie Korma with Garlic Naan.<br/>The spice level of food is Gora style, so go with hot or extra hour if you like spicy food. Ask for green salad with green chilli for some extra taste
Muskaan Rai
IF I could give them a zero rating that's what i would give them. Simply explained they put non veg chunks in a purely vegetarian dish that was requested. Never returning here. I suggest you all also never go to this place. My sister ordered Veg Fried rice for takeaway and when she ate she had bits of meat with the rice. It was not veg at all!! Stay away from this place. You never know what they will put in your food. And don't even get me started on waiting. You wait and wait and wait .. no matter if you order before coming in 1 hour before and walk in to eat. Stay away from this place, please.

Personally not happy with Taste of Punjab. The service is too slow. Visited the restaurant when there was not much rush but still had to wait a long for the food. The serving plates were not clean, its high time to change them. The curry lacked salt and wasn't spicy even after saying it.

So I am kind of like a Indian food noob, so I have no real experience with authentic Indian food. I found the food to be delicious though, and quite affordable. $10 for a curry dish with rice! The Roti was just alright for me, tasted great with the curry. The service was decent as well.

Have eaten at this restaurant a few times and the food is good; had a very disturbing incident today with my take out order for four;  our orde included rice pallow rice, butter chicken, rogan gosht, Chana masala and aloo gobii and tandoor roti. The food arrived and we were all looking forward to it.  When the meat dishes were opened it looked like a container full of sauce;  we proceeded to pull the bits of meat out, resulting in 7 bits of chicken and 8 even smaller bits of lamb ( ok we are talking eAch piece approximately an1.5 cm cube!!!) I called the restaurant no they said they could not help me - call the manager which I did ( why isn't he on site one Saturday nite?) anyways Harjeet Muttani (sp?) was not too concerned that we did not get more meat - he told me nex time he would give me half n order complimentary! Hahaha....I suggested we were ripped off and had been in the food industry for many years and felt he was most likely short changing to increase profits;  he finished by saying it was very hard to make a profit as it is expensive to do business in Surrey Central. Shame on you Harjeet I will not be a customer any longer!,,,

My wife and I have been to this location five times and each time we are very impressed. The Resteraunt is never too busy at the time we go so we can converse unhindered by loud noises and relax. The food is good. We go here with a mobile bandet. Food is spot on and very good.  We were testing the waters, so didn't venture more then butter chicken

I've been to The Taste of Punjab many times over the years and have always enjoyed my meals. The last couple of times though, I've ordered Butter Chicken and was disappointed by the amount of chicken in it. Thinking this was due to it being a dinner special, I placed a takeout order yesterday only to find even less. I understand that chicken is pricey but 12 small pieces in a sea of sauce for 12.00 doesn't add up. Sorry Taste of Punjab but your competitors offer far better value for the money.
Boss604
Eww! I'm a punjabi, and I've been here a few times, and there food sucks! THIS IS NOT REAL PUNJABI FOOD!! My brother threw up after eating your garbage samosas! I once also got served dry, already eaten, reheated tikka masala! NOT GOOD! Bad service, my mom was asking the waiter a question and she just arrogantly walked away. Rude! I want to say so much more, but no one will know how it actually feels. To all the non Punjabis, THIS IS NOT PUNJABI FOOD. THIS WANNA BE PUNJABI FOOD! GO TO NEWTON AND EAT PUNJABI FOOD THERE! MIRCH MASALA IS WAY BETTER. MIRCH MASALA HAS BEST SERVICE AND BEST FOOD. TASTE OF PUNJAB IS A DISGRACE TO PUNJABI! You made my brother puke. Shame on you.

Terrible Service. After a long day at work I ordered take out from Taste of Punjab. During previous visits to the restaurant, I have noticed that the staff does not really go out of their way to be polite but rather treats serving customers as a chore. I am not one to scrutinize customer service so it has never really bothered me, it was simply an observation. I spent 15 dollars on my dinner and took it back to my condo across the street. When I got home I noticed the whole contents of the curry container had spilled into the bag. I immediately called the “manager” to complain. Ill admit that i was a bit grumpy at this point (long day at work...finally got home and my dinner is not edible) but a remotely sympathetic voice on the other end probably would have changed that. I dine out quite frequently and have also worked in customer service and expected a pretty standard response. Something along the lines of “sorry to hear that, come by and we’ll fix that for you.” I was shocked and disturbed that my complaint was met with an argumentative “but I put the lid on, if I hadn’t put the lid on I would have seen it spilled when I gave it to you.” I’m not going to lie, at this point I did my lose my cool. On the WALK home the curry clearly spilt from the container but most likely due to the fact that the lid was not put on properly to begin with. I walked straight home and did not touch or readjust anything in the bag. She went on to say that the lid probably came off while getting in the car and made all sorts of unnecessary suggestions, before hanging up. I called back and told her that if she did not give me my money back I was going to bring my complaints online. She said “report me to who you want” and hung up the phone. Even in the ugliest of customer service incidents, in the most unprofessional of settings...in a situation like this the customer should be entitled to a refund. I am out 15 bucks and hungry because a stubborn unprofessional “manager” couldn’t admit that she MAY have failed to put the lid on properly, or even easier, not felt the need to assign blame to begin with.<br/><br/>I recommend that unless you want to come across rude unprofessional staff that rips you off.... avoid this place at all costs. Clearly the manager is more concerned with being right that making sure customers have a positive experience. If you are looking for good Indian food in Surrey with polite and professional staff i recommend Mahek, Tasty, Mirch Masala, Pinch of Spice and any other place that doesnt employ this miserable woman.

Had delivery many times and apparently now the don't deliver! That's the only reason I orderd , the food is sub par at best and the service is VERY RUDE!

DECENT FOOD BUT TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!. Right from the start we were greeted by a waitress with lots of bad attitude. My hubby ordered a vegetarian platter and I ordered a meat platter with lamb curry, tandori chicken, rice, naan, etc. While we were waiting for our order, a different waitress came to our table with a lamb dish, a side of rice and naan so my hubby and I started to eat it, obviously thinking it was part of our order. However, the bad ass attitude waitress came and snatched it away from us as we were eating it and started to "sort of explaining" that that order wasn't ours as she was taking all of it away :( ... I couldn't believe that she was walking away with the entire meal, but then turned around and said that "we can still eat the naan bread" as she put it back on our table. We were so unpleasantly surprised! and we wondered what was she going to do with it? we have already eaten part of it! Oops!!! I was so mad, I wanted to get out of there, but we were so hungry that we stayed. There was not apology of any kind by anybody! Our food came, we ate and got out of there with a sour experience and a feeling to never comeback!!!
ILovefood
We ate here because we had a mobile app coupon. We told our waiter before ordering that we are using the coupon. When we asked for the bill the app decided to crash. We spoke with the manager and he did absolutely nothing. It was horrible customer service. I recommend eating at Indian Bistro in Delta if you want better food and service!

Amazing Butter Chicken!!! Loved the naan bread too

I really like their spinach naan. Food is really good. Service has been good every time I have been there. One time I showed up with a group of 15 and they kindly say us in the party room. My South Asian friends say this place is authentic and good.

Terrible service. I sat there with my family for about 20 minutes waiting to order and the restaurant wasn't even busy. The waitress came and she didn't even write down the order, she couldn't remember that we ordered naan. Food was good though. Service not so much. However the service really affected my experience. Thumbs down for me.<br/><br/>Update : <br/>A friend of mine was eating in the restauraunt and heard one of the servers there yell to the rest of the waitstaff that he thought a man who was simply paying for his meal looked shady. Not only was this incredibly rude but the entire restaurant heard. I feel the embarrassment for this man and I can't believe that this establishment behaves so poorly.

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER! RAW CHICKEN!. I bought butter chicken for take out the other day. Many pieces of the chicken breast turned out raw (pink-red). I took it back to the restaurant and owner argued back and refused to reason. Owner tried to find excuses and fought back. In addition, he refused to even look at the chicken, didn't give a refund and then called me a liar. Most horrible experience ever for the food and the service. I will never go there again and I DO NOT recommend anyone going there if you want properly cooked chicken that is NOT raw. I have attached a picture of the raw chicken.

The Taste of Punjab. Ate here yesterday and both food and service were great! We had lamb saag and it was truly the best saag I have ever tasted! Friendly warm service as well!<br/><br/>Sandy

Today we were here for valentines day. We waited for an hour, and the waitress kept on saying "just a sec". This ruined our evening. Horrible service, and they gave smaller portions than usual. All in all the service was terrible.
FKDubs
We placed out order and when they brought it out they screwed it up and brought my husband the wrong thing. We told the waitress who was extremely rude so we asked to speak to the manager, who threw his employee under the bus entirely. He then offered to correct it, which was fine, except we ended up being charged for the incorrect order PLUS the correct order which came late. We won't be back.

Perhaps a bit smaller amount that my previous visit last year, but excellent. So good that we ordered take out a couple of days later. <br/><br/>I don't understand the other reviews as the food was delicious, the server gave us a lot of attention and the owner/manager? stopped by our table a couple of times to ask if there was anything we needed.

Going down hill!! Ordered a couple orderd of butter chicken. For the price ended up with. sauce with a couple cubes of chicken a scoop of rice and hard naan. asked that 1 be medium heat and the other mild for the kids and it was the same. disappointing latley:(

1st experience- had a small lunch of paneer in a butter chicken sauce which was good. Service was fine... UNTIL the male (owner?) I suppose was yelling at the woman (his wife?) and we think he hit her because she forgot to give us an item and we waited then cancelled when it took too long. It was crazy weird.... <br/><br/>2nd experience- Ordered a large order of paneer, butter chicken, pakoras, naan, roti and dessert. Go to pick it up and get home. Realized she had missed the dessert and gave us only a tiny order of rice... Went back and she argued with us about the rice saying it was free rice with the order and its a bonus when it says on the menu it comes with rice. Poor customer service with attitude. We had to drive there twice and giving us a rice was extremely hard for her, so another woman brought us it. We open the bag and the rice is half filled and the dessert is a tiny cup half filled as well. Will not be going back for obvious reasons. The food is fine, not that great. But the prices are high especially since they won't even give you rice....

Poor Customer Service!. My wife ordered Indian for Father's Day dinner and I was very excited as I love Indian food! When we opened up the Butter Chicken contatainer we were very dissapointed to have 6 bite size pieces of chicken in an ocean of sauce. I called Taste Of Punjab and asked to speak to the Manager. I was told he wasnt in, so I explained why I was calling and the peron who answered the phone took my number and said she would have the mangaer call me back when he was in. I waited two days and called back and asked for the Managers name. I was told he wasn't in. I asked for his name and the person who answered the phone asked why. Again I explained my dissapointment not only about the lack of chicken but also my dissapointment in the fact the Manager had not returned my call. Finally she told me the name Manpreet. I said tell Manpreet I would like a refund or a credit for $11.99 plus tax (the cost of the butter chicken). She said she would tell him. Well much to my surprise he did call back but I was unable to answer at the time...he left a message which didn't make sense as all I asked for is a refund or credit and he said call me. SO I did within the hour of recieving the message...and again I was told he wasnt in...so again I left a message explaining what I wanted and to have him call me back with what he was going to do....you guessed it he failed to call me back. Well it's Thursday now and still no resolve to my complaint lodged Sunday, hence this review. The customer service is sooooo poor and the Butter Chicken is over priced for 6 bite sized pieces. Food quality okay but I will never return based on my experience!

Delicious & the best Indian food I have ever tasted. If you take out you get bigger portions but in conclusion, I love this place & the food is on par!

Terrible, Rotten, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I have been here a few times, service and food is always below average. I wanted a prawn dish so the waitress suggested Juicy Prawns. When it arrived it was a stinking, rotten, rubber mess. I could not even eat a single prawn. It smelled like vomit. When the waitress asked how it was I told her to take it away. She refused and said that I ordered it so Im going to have to pay for it anyways. I could not believe it. My Indian friends had told me that they had the same problem here. Dont waste your time and money, instead go to Tasty Indian Bistro on Scott Road and 82nd.

Disappointing Experience. We have been to this restaurant a few times over the past 5 years and have mostly found it to be quite good, although not consistent. <br/><br/>This time was very poor. To start with, the HVAC system was either turned off or broken. Consequently, the air in the restaurant was polluted from the operation of the stoves. It was toxic: within ten minutes our eyes were burning from the fumes. <br/><br/>Staff pretended there was nothing wrong. <br/><br/>It was so hot and stuffy that even though it was a moderate 20 degrees outside, we were sweating and hot inside. <br/><br/>The food was OK but not very hot. The nann bread was overcooked, even burnt in some areas. <br/><br/>We had a 10% off coupon which they were reluctant to honour. Our server had to talk to 3 people to get it approved. Meanwhile we were held up while trying to pay and it was all around quite embarrassing. <br/><br/>You are left feeling like an unwelcome intruder, and not a guest. <br/><br/>Why would I pay for this? They need to take care of these problems. To start with, make your guests feel welcome. Serve them promptly, and attend to things like water, place settings, napkins, and other general necessities. Clean your floors and seats - they are dirty. Paint the walls and repair the worn, tired, decor. And, as another person wrote, watch what is on the TVs and ensure it contributes to the overall atmosphere. Most importantly, watch out for the food quality. It is really slipping. <br/><br/>This could be a really good restaurant, but right now, it is not and it is getting worse. Time to tighten up the operations. <br/><br/>I'll go back in a month and see if anything has improved.

Poor customer service, their way or the highway. I live close to taste of punjab, and have visited them once every 3 or 4 months. Considering the many choices of Punjabi cuisine in surrey/whalley area, the food here is on part to what one would expect, not great, but not bad either. However, recently they have raised their prices, and the customer service showed they do not care to attract new customers or lose old customers. A year ago, I bought a coupon deal online, and decided to drop in for a dinner. After checking and double checking, this coupon detail does not ask users to print it out inorder to use it, so i just have it in my smartphone. We even mentioned the coupon before we ordered and everything was fine, until we are ready to pay. The lady at the front desk insisted we have to print it out, or else we cannot use it. I replied since it does not say such requirement on the coupon, I did not know (many coupon encourage users to not print it, instead, just give the code to the merchant, and this coupon does have a code). I asked her if I can borrow her computer to print it out (right at the front desk) or if I can just pay full amount at this time and bring back my coupon to get a partial refund later. She said no to both, and does not offer any way to solve this, and insisted this is the rule, because the coupon does not say "no need to print this coupon" thus printing is required, and the only way to use this coupon will be our next visit. I considered this a misunderstanding, thus continued to eat here. Last week, I have gotten their new menu and a coupon in the local coupon envelopes, so I figure it will be a good time to try something new. I ordered on the phone, and told them I have the coupon, and ordered two items on the coupon, with two additional old favourites of my that is not on the coupon. When we were ready to pick it up at the restaurant there was no discount when they asked me to pay the bill, and I reminded them the said coupon on the phone, and the cashier had to ask for the manager. The same lady from the first story showed up and said "one item from coupon on each visit only", keep in mind, this is 10% off on a $8 item. Of course I told them there is no such rules on the coupon; no restrictions, no limitations and no expiry date. What made me decided to never return and take my business elsewhere was when she said "No matter what is on the coupon or not, these are the rules. Why do you always use coupons? remember last time the hassle you get with your coupons?" I cannot believe she actually mentioned the last time where she had no customer service skills and cannot help me solve the coupon issue, and she actually questions why I use coupon at all. I have a question for them, if you don't like customer using coupons, why print them at all? May be they are just so busy with the business they have, they could careless about losing a customer over a $2 discount.

So so. We had four meals, the chicken Dopiaza, chicken Jalfrazie, chicken Korma and Butter chicken. Waitress service was good and the owner was friendly, assuring us our food was slow because it was fresh cooked. When the food did arrive the portions were large with lots of meat pieces and not too oily. <br/>The food however was bland and tasteless apart from the Korma which was quite nice and the Jalfrazie and Dopiaza were virtually the same. The Naans were okay but my roti were over cooked and dry. Overall not bad but the food left me craving for the explosion of flavors that curries should provide.<br/>When O when will we get mind blowing curry in Vancouver?<br/>Curry can be all that.

Sigh* I had envisioned Taste of Punjab to be an excellent Indian restaurant, but I'm quite disappointed. I waited 20 minutes after ordering and the service was okay. I have to admit, the lamb curry had a nice mild taste, but the butter chicken... it just did not do it for me. I personally like my butter chicken rich and creamy, and this didn't have that factor. They put chunks of tandoori chicken in the butter chicken, which was a first, and kind of odd to be honest... Anyways, the butter chicken was a disappointment. The overall experience was okay. I wish I could say I'll be coming back, but I definitely won't. <br/><br/>Good day.

Not bad... But not great either.. I went here and the service was good, but the food was somewhat just on par. I've had much better indian food. The butter chicken was slightly bland, and the rice I got was cold - but the naan was pretty - just didn't seem super fresh. With so many indian places in Vancouver - I'd try something else, but there isn't too much around the Whalley/ Central City region... so for the area it was good.

My bf and i wanted to change it up wnd try a new indian resteraunt. We usually go to Mirch Masala. We Had the Paneer Pakora, it was pretty decent but smaller portions then Mirchmasala's. Butter chicken was way too tomatoe-y, I prefer my butter chicken to be creamier. The rice pudding was very yummy but Mirch masala is still my # 1. I will most likely not return.

Very rude and stingy with their rice. If you do take out, whether you order one or three entree curries, they will always only give you one serving of rice. Have friends over, yeah everybody gets a bite of rice. Even says on their own menu that each entree comes with rice. Lame and rude. Lost my business. I've tried making separate orders to get more rice but they argue about it.

Delicious food, with nice atmosphere and timely service. I took a take out menu that I will be using for sure

Consistently great food and atmosphere. Very good flavours all around, only issue is the long wait for food prep. Make sure you have ample time to eat here.

Great sampler. Just wnet to the Taste of Punjab and ate in. We have always had take out. Had the vegatable pakkora's... ok but not the best I've had. Hubby and I both tried the sampler that had butter chicken (very yummy), lamb currey(nice and tender), some spinache dish, I like it, dahl (ok), rita (good flavour), tandori chicken (a little dry so I dipped in the rita or one of the currey sauces), rice, nann and rice pudding! all for $16.99. a very great deal and have lots of left overs, except for the butter chicken.<br/>All the take away that we have had has been OK and I've had better but tonihgt eating in changed my mind! Since we live in Whalley it's nice a close to home so we'll be frequent fliers here.

A (nasty) Taste of Punjab Dirty spoon. Dirty napkin. Poor (neon-dyed) mint chutney. Poor mango chutney. Microwaved over-salted mulligatawny. Okay (fluffy) naan. I should have left at that point, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt for the entree. NEVER AGAIN. Don't say no one warned you...

Very decent curry. We had the butter chicken and spinach curry with cheese plus nan bread. Nan was a bit oily. Curry dishes were very big and had decent flavour. Vegetable Samosa's were excellent. Raita was a bit watery. Rice was light and fluffy. Will return but then again there is so Much to choose from in the area.

I understand Tikka Masala is a British invention, but Taste of Punjab does a good job with a lot of the other Indian dishes as well. Must try if you go here.

Excellent Indian. I consider Taste of Punjab easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Surrey. The location is not the best, being in a strip mall next to a relatively busy intersection. The food is always delicious and the service is prompt. I suggest the thalis, as they come with a variety of different dishes; definitely enough for two people to share. I urge you to try this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Pretty decent food but overall not spectacular. I had a vegetarian combo (thali) with excellent bartha, average chana masala; tasted like plain tomato sauce and cilantro. The dal that tasted like a bowl of garlic. The nan was outstanding. Nice papadum brought to me immediately. The food came very fast but not great service other than that; the waitress never asked if everything was all right. Finished off with an excellent mug of steaming hot chai.

Great tasting food, very good portion sizes and a relaxed atmosphere. Lots of menu and spice selection.

Waited a long time with no food or starter brought out even though we ordered naan etc very early on. People came and went while we waited. We had to ask twice while my kids got increasingly restless and hungry. Food was fine but not worth the wait. Too bad, I had high hopes.

Best spur of the moment choice in a long time. Reminds me why we love living in Little India, BC. Get the rice pudding. It's part of the chef's recommendation. Good value.

The food here is really good and so are the prices and service. Everything we had here tasted like it was cooked from scratch with no shortcuts on the spices. Allow some time as good food takes a bit longer.

I’ve always held a special place in my heart (or should I say stomach) for vindaloo.  The dish had good flavours and tender lamb.

This is one of my favorite Indian Restaurants in Surrey. The food is great, the service is attentive and the prices are reasonable.

Friday night I was in one of those moods where I didn't want to cook. I wanted someone else to cook for me and I also wanted something other than the usual take out. I also have been dying to try a local Indian restaurant for a long time. That was that, w

I've been wanting to try more Indian food recently, and after looking at Follow Me Foodie's post , I decided to check out Taste of Punjab with my friends last week. It's really accessible and close to the King George skytrain station. I pretty much copied Mijune's recommend list, and hardly looked at the menu. We ordered the Chicken Jalfrzie, Turka Dal, Lamb Curry, Butter Chicken, and some Paneer Pakora. We also added some roti, and garlic nan. I also ordered the spinach nan but it never came, which sucked but was also a good thing because we were stuffed and unable to finish our food. We ordered everything hot, which was surprisingly very tolerable. Definitely not hot enough to make you sweat, but the perfect amount of spice for me. The paneer pakora is kinda like an Indian fried cheese stick. It's like an Indian cheese battered a bit, and deep fried. It was stuffed with a mint sauce inside. It was kind of crispy, and the paneer had a slightly firm texture. It was really good, t
Eating In Vancouver
Friends of ours live in Surrey and rave about Taste of Punjab, claiming it's one of the best Indian restaurants in all of Surrey. Others think so too - it's been cooking up a storm over 18 years. High praises, but we took their word for it, and dined at Taste of Punjab for dinner a while ago. Right as we entered the restaurant, the employees were friendly and hospitable, almost as if we had just come over to visit and they were welcoming us into their lovely abode. They quickly sat us at a cozy booth and handed us large menus. When I say large, I mean huge: Their extensive menu lists over 102 items! I always wonder how restaurants with ginormous menus are able to produce fresh and tasty meals. It always reminds me of Kitchen Nightmares , where Chef Ramsay calls everyone donkeys and bellows "it's RAAAAW!" . Thankfully the food coming out of Taste of Punjab's kitchen was not a nightmare, and far from it . We began our evening with a Mango Lassi - A popular and traditional Punjabi yogurt

I don’t question that Surrey has great Indian food to start off with, but there are ones that stand out above others. This is probably one of them.

The restaurant was very spacious with nice decor. However the tone was rather dark, and the air was a bit chilly (bring a sweater).
