Absolutely love the stir fried noodle (mie goreng) and nasi lemak. They were delicious!
Nice ambience that’s for sure! Plenty of seating with an extra space on the upper floor, perfect for a small party.
Great service and highly recommended.
I was working in the Whalley district. My coworkers told me that this restaurant had great food. We went there together for lunch. We ordered satay chicken and beef, veggies and meat spring rolls, mee goreng with chicken and nasi goreng with shrimps. The food tasted great. We were very surprised to find such a good Indonesian/Malaysian restaurant in Surrey! One of our clients that we worked with told me that he loved the ginger tea here and he couldn’t find it anywhere else. He couldn’t even make it at home. I should try their ginger tea next time.
There is free street parking right in front of the restaurant. That is awesome!
The customer service was great! The restaurant might not be too busy today that the server or owner of the restaurant had more time to explain to us about the dishes of food. We really appreciate it!
Pricing is reasonable and the portion is big. We had leftover that we could pack home! If you live in this neighbourhood or come to this neighbourhood for any reasons, come and try this restaurant.

Manis is a pan-Asian eatery (leaning towards Malaysian) in a newish mixed use building on Whalley Blvd near 108th. Comfortable with chic decor, it was quiet at noon on Saturday (not too surprising as the rest of Surrey was a ghost town while Vaisakhi was going on).We shared 3 dishes and had leftovers for dinner! All for roughly $40 including tax and tips. We asked for the Mee Goring to be non spicy. My partner's granddaughter has not developed a taste for spicy just yet. Still this dish was richly flavoured with a generous amount of chicken. It was an excellent version of Mee Goring! The Curried Chicken with Roti Parantha did have a nice little punch. The roti itself was decidedly ungreasy. The curry was rich was nice big pieces of very tender chicken and potatoes. I think this was one of their lunch specials. And of course, Laksa is our go to dish! Believe it or not, VL's Curry Bowl is our benchmark for Laksa and this one stands up very well. There was a fair amount of chicken, shrimp and tofu with a very nice coconut curry broth. Maybe not quite as rich as VL's but memory can be subjective. In any case, we would rate it excellent! Our server was very gracious and friendly and helpfully packed up our leftovers. I don't mind when folks bring us containers to pack our own leftovers but I do take note when some one does it for us. Its just a little extra measure of service.
For months I have been driving by this little restaurant wondering what it was like. After reading several zomato reviews calling it whalleys hidden gem, we decided to give it a try. And now, let me join other reviewers in saying: this place is amazing!
We ordered the mee ganang, yellow chicken curry, chicken satay, nasi goreng and two orders of the roti canai (one of each sauce). I actually can't even tell you which dish was the best because they were all so outstanding. Usually at the end of a meal I can strongly say "that dish was my favourite part of the meal", but with this place I really don't know. Is go back and forth with each bite of each one. If you usually go for Chinese or thai is this area, give Manis a try it will not disappoint!
This place is a really delicious hidden gem! I can't believe I lived in the area for 2 years without trying it. We tried the satay and the yellow curry, both of which were excellent.
For the longest time, I couldn't remember what this place was called; all I knew was that it had this interesting brie roti dessert that was quite delicious. I really liked the creativity of food, and the pricing for portion and quality seems pretty standard to me. I definitely want to come back.
I really liked this cute little place! The servers were quick and attentive and there were lots if vegetarian friendly options. The food itself was delicious, and the decor was really nice, welcoming and had a homey feeling to it! I would definitely recommend it!
Good food. Very tasty and well cooked. Great option for the area which lacks in good Malaysian food. Friendly and polite service. Decor could use some work but once you eat the food you won't care!
Absolutely outstanding food! We just moved into the building complex that this restaurant is located in (Quattro), and since we were exhausted from the move and starving, and didn't feel like driving anywhere, we decided to give this restaurant a try. To say that we were pleasantly surprised would be an under statement, in fact, we were shocked! We both ordered the Thai Mango fish, which was so delicious I couldn't get each forkful in my mouth fast enough. For dessert made with a fruit stuffed pan fried roti topped with ice cream, again, killer yummy. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant you won't be disappointed, prices reasonable, service pleasant and portions large. The only thing that was slightly annoying was that we also wanted to try the chicken spring rolls and golden pockets but were told they weren't using their deep fryer?? Kind of odd to have items on a menu that you don't plan on serving.
Manis has the most authentic Southeast Asian cuisine in Surrey. The ingredients they used in their curries and sauces are so flavourful. I had a chat with the owner of the place and she is actually from Penang, Malaysia so you'll know the food is authentic. I had Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang and a side of Nasi Pangang. By far the closest to the real thing. The spices they used in the Rendang and Sambal are so flavourful and spicy. This place is my go-to restaurant for authentic Pan-Asian Cuisine and is definitely worth a visit.
Never been disappointed coming here to Manis Restaurant. Every dish I've tried were delicious. The service here is awesome. Friendly owner and staff. I definitely recommend this place.

Excellent service and nice ambience! We ordered Singapore laksa and toss noodles (my hubby thinking it will be like the mee pok we usually ate back while we were working in Singapore). Everything was delicious. Amount of serving was par compared to the price. Would have been better if it was a little bit cheaper. But all in all, definitely a hidden gem in Surrey. Would definitely go back. ;)
Love their nasi lemak !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Friendly service , !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Hidden Gem in Surrey. - WOW. This is one of the best Malaysian cuisine I've tried in town. Forget about Tropika or Banana Leaf.
- Very refined dishes. Very little oil used in their fried dishes.
- Their yellow curry sauce is some of the best I've ever tasted.
- Excellent decor for a restaurant of this type. Wendy did a fantastic job.
I liked this new place very much. Very flavourful and spicy too! The Laksa soup had so many flavours of seafood chicken coconut curry lime two kinds of noodles.
Bought some cookies for my friend who was sooooooo impressed with the kueh lapis! Spicy shrimp cookies were also very tasty and interesting. I brought to a get together and was good conversation starter.
Worth the drive...going back for more. Ventured here after reading Sherman's food blog...pretty much stuck to dishes he tried to be on safe side. The pork belly was my favorite. Roti canai and Laska really hit the spot. Lady who took order was really pleasant and friendly. Parking might be an issue so plan ahead. Can't wait to go back and try the Nepalese Lamb and Goan red snapper. Cheers.
Great service. Very clean and inviting. Food tastes authentic. Ask for mild if you don't like spicy.
Amazing food very clean highly recommended definitely taste the authentic Malaysian flavours in every dish
Great Meal. Felt for something little different and saw this new restaurant and decided to give it a try. Everyone very much enjoyed our meals. Started off sharing some Chicken Spring Rolls and the Roti Canai with Chicken Curry Sauce. Both were quite good, especially the Roti, which had a bit of a kick to it. The kids each had the Toss Noodles, it was a potpourri of delicious flavors which the kids enjoyed. My wife had the Babi Kechap, which I got to try, and I'd go for that myself next time. I had the Mee Goreng with Prawns, it was fantastic and did not skimp on the prawns. Definitely a place we will go to again, a great choice if you want something a little different than Chinese or Thai.
Definitely NOT phoning it in.. Having lived in the region, I am VERY picky when it comes to Singaporean and Malaysian food. This place does not disappoint. There are complex flavours going on here that show there not just try to tick a box to qualify as "Malaysian Food" You can tell that most ingredients are made from scratch and that the hosts are trying to deliver quality.
On a side note, this restaurant is a Pioneer in the area. On a street that used to be covered in crack houses, this is a restaurant that I would be happy to take my family to. Surrey needs more like this.

Great food, great ambience and great people! I tried the Pork Kecap which was really good! The coconut rice accompanying it was perfect! Lamb curry was fantastic and so was the fried rice. Roti Canai is hand made! Malaysian taste! Nasi Goreng is great too!!

An unfussy, homecooked style Malaysian spot that will satisfy any hankering for Curry, Babi Kecap, Laksa etc. Crowd favourites include killer Mi Goreng and Satay Beef skewers with peanut sauce. Clean, licensed and great service to boot.

nice hidden restaurant. nasi goreang and laksa is very nice! She’s also really kind!
Came here for the first time yesterday for dinner with my family and we were all so impressed with the food. The tropical fruit salad was my favorite and we all loved the noodle and rice dishes, curry puffs and the Thai styled fish. Soooo good! We got to meet the lovely ladies who cooked the food and served us - they are truly talented and so friendly and funny as well. We will definitely go back even though we don't live that close to the area. Highly recommended!
The food here is great! We found some good vegetarians options for ourselves and the prices are decent. I would recommend the Nepalese Vegetarian Curry. The staff is very friendly. We would definitely visit again!!
