Review Guildford Sushi House - Surrey

I went there for my first time today and immediately I'm impressed. I ordered two rolls on my way home just to tide me over. When my order was ready I didn't believe the weight of the bag. Such a good price and the sushi was real good too. Avocado roll and Vancouver roll was my pick. Highly recommend!

I love how big the rolls are here. Tasty and quick service. Friendly service. This is my favorite location in the area. They have the crispiest Yam Tampura.

Large portions, fair pricing, and food tastes were pretty good.

My new go to place. My old sushi place turned too fancy for me and I remembered this place from my early 20's. Rolls are priced great and servings are really generous. Rolls are larger than most places. I like that you get a percentage off when you order a few hours or a day ahead. Will probably be back next month.

Amazing value and great tasting sushi. They have the biggest and best rolls in the area. I've been coming here frequently for several years because it's that good. I hope people continue to support this business!

Friendly service but the sushi rice had a bit too much vinegar and the proportion of rice to contents was not awesome (see photo).

A little hole in the wall but the portions are great. Not going to win Michelin stars but for satisfying your sushi craving, fantastic value for money. Not overly complicated or pretentious. Just good, honest food.

Nice little sushi restaurant. Quick service even for take out. Food was fresh and the portions were large. Prices were excellent, especially for the amount of food you’re getting. Will be back!

If your looking for authentic Japanese sushi this is not the place, if your looking to fill your belly and not break your wallet this is the right place for you. I believe this place is chinese run, the sushi was ok at best the portions were quite large for the price you pay. I would personally pay a little more and go to aomori sushi which is authentic and decently priced

My wife and I have been here a few times over the years and it has remained the same every time. The food is tasty but the rolls are wrapped loosely and cut unevenly. The staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant is tidy. That really is about it...nothing so bad that we don’t return from time to time just nothing really blows my taste buds.

California maki here is LOVE! They have very generous servings! The only thing they need to improve is the atmosphere because it’s too old and too tiny so we usually go there when it’s not peak time. Overall I think they have great rolls here. Yum!

I came here for a post spin class meal and my brother and I were the only customers so we got seated right away. It is really small in the restaurant but we didn’t feel cramped at all. We ordered the agadeshi tofu, salmon and avocado roll, negitoro roll and the salmon tempura roll. Everything tasted fresh and we love how they serve the agadeshi tofu sauce on the side so it stays crispy! The tofu batter was a smidge on the thick side but we still enjoyed it nonetheless. They gave us very little ginger so we had to ask for more but they were happy to oblige and gave us a big serving of it. I would say it’s more of 3.5 rating than a 4, but I didn’t think a 3 gave it justice. For a quick sushi craving, I would definitely return!

Highly recommended!
My coworkers and I have dubbed this place ‘inflation sushi’ because the portion sizes are massive (a good thing), everything is consistently fresh, the service is fast and the dine in location is small, but clean. This restaurant only accepts debit or cash, but, I’ve been a repeat customer for years and will continue to be! Dine at this sushi restaurant versus ‘to go’ ‘akasaka ya’ or the one in the huge yellow building beside the Starbucks!!

The place is small but they do very well with what they have. It's a small team and a good place for a generally quiet meal. The sushi itself is pretty much average, not on the bad side but could be better. The real selling point is the SIZE. I order here often for a friend and I and they use scissors to cut up their rolls. Guildford Sushi house sells decent rolls for a below average price at above average portions. GREAT for the hungry sushi fan.

OH! And the staff are very funny and sweet. The owner of the place once messed with me pretty hard, normally I ask for extra ginger and NO wasabi, they line the entire side of the takeout box with ginger for me. One day I came in he gave me the box, read my order and went "no ginger extra wasabi" and my heart curled inside itself. He laughed and told me it was a joke, so yeah. Cool guys.

Needs to work on cleanliness. California rolls has way too much mayo to fish ratio. Rice is way too sticky. Prices are high for the quality. There are better days laces in the area with better pricing and quality. Akasaka and Nagoya Sushi houses are much better.

My favorite sushi place ever! The staff are super friendly. The portions are awesome. I perfer those rolls over tiny sushi rolls. I usually order 2-3 rolls and I'm stuffed after. The pricing is cheap. I would totally recommend it to anyone.

Good portion sizes, average quality. Been here once before, wanted to get some sashimi so made my way here since I knew the portion sizes were extra large. Tried one or two other rolls, not impressed. I only recommend coming here if you want to get full for a cheap price, otherwise for good tasting sushi try somewhere else.

They are ok. When you walk in, they ASSUME you called in an order, when in fact you MIGHT be there for eat in or to place an order. A friend of mine placed an order thinking one thing and got another because the menu wasn't specific enough to to mention what she didn't want. I have been here during slow times and it is still a snakes pace to get food to us. Also can't pay by credit, WTH, cash or debit, really?
My fave sushi house!. Sumed up in a few words.. Delicious food, Good location, Great price and very filling!! My faves are (crunchy roll but ask for teritaki sauce on top!! Dynamite roll, Salmon tampura roll and ofcourse good ol california roll!! =)

Sucks. I normally try to be more eloquent with reviews but I feel that trying to say something intelligent would be putting in more effort than this "sushi" restaurant deserves. Nothing is worse than fish that is not fresh, ingredients that are skimped on and a dirty, worn out interior. Avoid this place at all costs.

Gross. Worst sushi in surrey. Fish is not fresh and the rolls are gross.

Big yummy sushi. For a customer you can actually tell that i am very satisfied to this place. It was affordable place to eat at, not too spacious or fancy place to go to, but a good place to satisfy my big tummy. The servings was good, it was big and cheap to buy an order of sushi. My friends and I used to go to this place almost everyday and they can tell that i am a regular customer with good customer service because whenever i crave for sushi i just go there and i recommend it to my family, friends, and even to my boyfriend.

It was lunch time and I was starving , I walk in after reading reviews and yes the waitress is loud but not rude , looks more like she is busy and trowing orders around to get things going , I order the California roll and the avocado roll , with a miso , the miso tasted like a miso , and the rolls where huge, I barely could finish then and I remember the waitress saying is that it, omg I was happy I didn't order more, I did not feel the rice was excessive, the avocado where fresh and the meal was 10$ with the tip and I was stuff and felt good till dinner , I will go back .

Quantity over quality. The rolls are the jumbo type where it's a good 2 bites to finish a piece. We stood at the door and while both ladies working saw us neither of them bothered to tell us to grab a seat. We did anyways after a customer told us to just sit wherever. We ordered our food and while the prices are cheap and you get a lot for what you pay for the rolls fall apart and are just annoying to eat since it's so messy. The servers were both rude I found and forgot to place our gyoza order and when I asked if it was coming she said "ya ya ya" and it took another few minutes anyways. The place was busy and we could see why but I wouldn't go back. Less is more sometimes and a deal doesn't go very far if you're experience wasn't all that great. Not a fan.

Good. I decided to try this place out last week. I read some of the reviews that said that waitresses were really loud. Well, they're vietnamese. So that explains that. The sushi and sashimi were pretty good. The only thing I didn't really like was that the dynamite roll seemed like it had a little too much avocado/mayo. They also give you 10% off if you order take out a day in advance, which seems a little weird but whatever.
Simbunny
I really like it here! Sushis r huge, and service is nice too. I don't know why people would complain about the portions being too large. I never knew being big would be a bad thing. I would recommend this place to everyone!
Mangovictoria
Great!. I love their sushi, great flavour, true Japanese atmosphere and nice large portions! I feel like i get exactly what i payed for!

Have been before and it was okay, but after my visit today I will NOT be going back. Miso was cold and tasted like dish water. My rolls were rubbery and had barely any filling to them. The worst part was when I bit into one of my rolls and found a chunk of plastic inside. I politely told them to be more careful and they all but shoved me from the store without apology. Will not return.
Nikki
Just alright. The sashimi was huge so are the rolls but there was nothing really special about it that I'd want to come back. The female waitress was loud as hell and kept yelling stuff which really ruined the atmosphere for me. Waiter didn't even refill our drinks and we had to hunt him down. Would not come back again.
Obese Child
Bad service, mediocre food. The lady that works there talks very loudly to the customers and it ruins the atmosphere.
VeggieLover
Just Okay. Prices here are very good. Portions are big and service is friendly. However, we didn't really enjoy the food, not the worst, but not the best either. Maybe just not for us.

Great value ! Big rolls though if you like then smaller ask them when ordering

Rice, Rice, and more Rice. Guildford Sushi House provides large portions and decent value. However, their rolls are often loaded with so much rice that I have to take apart my roll and extract some rice before I attempt to eat. For those who like sashimi, their portions are huge. The quality of their tuna leaves something to be desired. If you're not too picky about quality and are just looking for good value, this place will do.
SpeshBun
Good Value. If you've only got pennies in your pocket and crave something fishy, this is the spot. Quality isn't fantastic, but the owner and employ are all very kind and hard working.

If you want a lot of food for cheap come here. If you want something memorable go somewhere else.

The sashimi was great! Sushi monstrous. May have been a little better if rolls were a bit smaller. Had to cut with a fork :(
No Dessert Im Full
Sushi house? more like sushi 1 bdr apt lol. All jokes a side, dont expect nothing fancy inside, a half dozen tables and some seating at the bar create an "intimate" atmosphere. The menu offers a decent amount of roll and nigiri sushi, sashimi, donburi, and a few starters like miso soup and gyoza, now the menu is pretty much limited to those options, but thats all i really need so im good to go. The dynamite rolls were fresh and tasty, the spicy tuna roll was a bit meh, love the 1/2 order option for the prawn tempura, they were also good, and the beef teriyaki donburi was good too. So the foods good and the prices are super low! Great spot to pop in and out without busting the bank

Reminds me of Samurai in Vancouver. I miss working in Vancouver where I used to go to Samurai Sushi to get huge, delicious rolls, now I don't have to worry that I've discovered Guildford Sushi House, awesome sushi rolls are big and filling just as I like them.
Steve
Best in town. How can anyone complain. I have been going there for 3+ years. The service is always prompt, food is amazing. Just don't be like moto man and be having an affair and go there.

What?. OK. I am a bigggggg fan of sushi.
I saw the reviews and I thought I should give it a try at Guilford Sushi House but WDF... I want to give them a zero if I can rate in urbanspoon. Well... the rice was alllll sticky like Korean rice cake and EW, what is wrong with the Chicken Terriyaki Don???????? WORST.
Tempuras were all soggy and the chicken was fried too much it was actually hard to chew..

Im very disappointed....... I'd rather go to Cold Stone for Brunch. YUK.

Useless. I was meeting with a fine young lady that is a friend and wanted to meet away from my spouse and darn it she requested sushi so we met here based on internet reviews. ugly waitress, no service, no good looking women, tiny portions.. what is up man? We left soon for our reservation but boy man what is this?

Huge Portions. I always order Salmon Sashimi here because they give such huge portions. The quality is also very good, and at a reasonable price. If you order take out 24 hours earlier, they even offer a discount, which is great. Overall this is a great casual Sushi place that i would definitely recommend!

Best Sushi ever. I have been to alot of different Sushi restaurants and tried all sorts of sushi and this is definitely the best Sushi I have ever tasted. We keep coming back at least once per week. Just thinking about getting sushi there makes my mouth water

Best Sushi Place in town!. I've started eating at Guildford Sushi about 2 years ago and all I can say is that, I wish they would never close till I die! Seriously though, I'm a japanese food fanatic, and I've been to so many different sushi restaurants and All You Can Eat places but there's something about this place that's always making me come back. Their ingredients are fresh and their portions are massive! You get what you pay for. The place is very small and not a lot of decor but the service is friendly. Definitely my top sushi place

I'm a regular, I go in a couple times a week. The service is always prompt and friendly. The food is fantastic and the portions are huge for the price your paying. The only complaint I have is that it's always busy and not enough seating. But it's still my favorite sushi place in surrey.
Corvin
Meh... Decent sushi, but some of the rolls are too flipping massive for my taste.
Steve
Great value. I order take out from them all the time. Sushi is always ready when I show up.
Fresh ingredients, great value, definitely recommended.
Godzilla
Great place to come if you are feeling hungry. Both the rolls and the nigiri are huge. Great value for what you are paying. They have all the usuals. The dragon roll was a bit mushy though and a bit too salty. The decor is minimal but we're here for the food. Our server was great and made our evening a lot of fun. She was attentive but not intrusive. Party tray D plus a couple of extra rolls made for lots of leftovers for the 5 of us.
Yellowumbrella
Yummy sushi. Great for take out, large portions for the money, always fresh. Toro for under $2.00, sweet raw shrimp, rolls around $3. A bit small and slow when you eat in though.

I went to Guildford Sushi House earlier this week. I've always known about, because it's right beside Kim Hoang Pho, but never went in.

I was originally heading to Hong Ma No for some noodles, but it seems that everyone had the same idea. So instead I opted to try something else. R and I noticed a sushi shop in the same square, so we decided to check it out.
