Review Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - Surrey

Just wanted to say we had the nicest waitress I think we’ve ever had the other night. Hannah you are a gem and we appreciated how awesome you were with us. Everything tasted great, and like I said service was amazing!! Loved the eco friendly Togo containers!!

The waiter Kenny is an excellent person. Fantastic customer service. I celebrated my birthday, and he was an absolute joy. The food is delicious. We had the chicken wings twice. Pizza is definitely tastier than your Little Caesars. Meatballs are surprisingly quite delicious. They have ice cream here, but the options are limited. I like the place a lot. I would come here again.

Whenever we crave Italian Style Pizza, this is one of our go-to places. Pizzas are awesome especially their Margherita and Sicilian. I love that they also have my favourite Peach Margarita. They also have the best Gelatos and Salted Caramel is my fave.Place is awesome and bar-like, their service is great and washrooms are clean too. A great choice after a quick shopping at Guildford Mall. We will definitely be back

Visit this place with my friends last night. Food is good and drinks as well. One of my fav place in surrey. Staff is super friendly and great service.

Ordered last night and my pizza was totally burnt. Going to garbage now. Wastage of money. Never ordering again. And mushroom made me sick. It seems they used expired ingredients.

First couple experiences were good. Did take out and they forgot all the meat on the pizza (I paid extra for). I called and they said they will give me a credit. Just went in today. Gave them another try today Ordered my same order. Paid extra for all the toppings, they forgot 3 out of 5 toppings, and the other 2 toppings were almost non existent on the pizza. I might as well have ordered a regular cheese pizza. The store was DEAD. 1 other table. The food took a very long time. Service was slow and painful. They don't seem to care about business or the customer. I definitely will not be going back. Waitress called the manager. Nobody really cared. No real resolutions except to wait another 30 mins for another pizza. Expensive, time consuming and bad service.

Great food and service. We had a medium pizza with meatballs on the side and were impressed. Pizza made fresh to order and was really good. Great crust and not overly greasy. Our server was a very friendly and pleasant young man.

I’ve always liked pizza pizza, by that I mean brick oven pizza. We were feeling adventurous and decided to go by Famoso on Commercial. I love walking in the front door because there is the most amazing Italian aroma there to welcome you. This pizza place is unlike any other because after you are seated, you have to write your own order and then hand it up to the cashier at the front to place your order to the “kitchen”. Speaking of which, they have a gorgeous open kitchen so you can watch your pizza being made fresh and placed into the oven.

The food here is great! I took my great grandma and her new boyfriend here in August for her 83rd birthday and have been coming back once every couple of weeks! My favourite is the Margarita but if I'm feeling adventurous, I go for the Margarita with extra basil. Ps they don't sing happy birthday to customers but if you request, they will.

This is the best Famoso location. I find that it is far more consistent, both food and service, than all of the other locations that I have visited.

Came here on a Saturday night, server was fantastic, super attentive and friendly. Pizza was yummy, sauce was fresh (highly recommend the original tomato sauce) ingredients seemed high quality and interesting menu options. Crust was thin and nicely charred. Mine could have had a bit more cheese on it (I created my own pizza) and the crust on the mattina needed maybe some olive oil or dipping sauce but these are really minor issues. I will be back!
Famoso Morgan Crossing is our go to place to eat. Great food, great atmosphere. Staff are always courteous and helpful. Date night, family night, this is the place to go. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There are three things that make a restaurant great. People, food, and cleanliness. This place wins on all three. Grani wanted thin crust pizza and is rather particular. When I saw this place I knew I had found my solution. Picked up two pizzas "to go." The staff were bright and cheery as they took my order. And while I waited unused the facilities and they were clean. Really good pizza if you like their take on Neapolitan pizza. May be the best Famoso in the chain so far. They connected on all levels for this visit. Well done.

The famoso salad was creamy and tad sweet. Tried Capricciosa and Prosciutto Arugula. The olives were overpowering the rest of the flavour for the Capricciosa but the tomato base was good. Comparatively, Prosciutto Arugula was lacking in flavour. The main flavor came from the saltiness of the prosciutto. But I did like the thin crusty. Would recommend getting 6" if trying out different flavours. It can get quite pricey.

We decided to give famoso a shot for lunch this afternoon, weve always heard great things. We walked in and the atmosphere looked great. The restaurant has a fresh look to it. Sat down, and went over the menu, a lot of options. The server went over a few popular items, so we went with the bbq chicken pizza. Within 10 minutes we had our pizza! The server educated us on how hot and fast their oven is. It was one of the best pizzas we've ever had. We definitely will be back! The staff was great as well, the service they provided was incredible!

I come here quite often with my girlfriend and we love the pizza and the environment. It's not your typical pizza, it's neapolitan style pizza just like it's made in Italy. After trying the pizza here when I'm in the mood for pizza I crave Famoso.

The service is super quick and the waiters are very personable. Nothing but great experiences at Famoso Morgan Crossing, they'll be seeing us again real soon!

Good service nice decor great food I found the pizza to be a tiny bit bland.... It could have had more salt on it. But overall a nice restaurant

We love coming to Famoso for their thin crust, oven baked pizza. We prefer to have the pizzas a little more well done than what they normally serve and when we order, we request to have it cooked a little longer. On the side, we always ask for their spicy olive oil to dip our crust in.. (this olive oil is amazeballs, people!!! It's super rich and deep in olive flavour).

This past trip to Famoso, we came for a birthday and got to try their Nutella pizza with bananas. Dear Nutella lovers and devotees, this is the dessert calzone for you! Be sure to save room if you've got a sweet tooth.

Thought I would give this chain another shot. Much brighter atmosphere, staff quick and pleasant. Ordered the Sicilian, crust thin taste good. Other was pineapple mozzarella and was very good too. Much better location, glad to have come here.

My husband and I ate here recently. Upon entering, we were asked to seat ourselves. Our waiter acknowledged us quickly after we were seated and brought us a carafe of water. My husband had a cucumber capri and I had a white sangria. They were tasty though my husband would have loved some mint or basil in the capri. For dinner, we ordered a margherita pizza with pistachio pesto and a quattro formaggi pizza with roasted mushrooms. Both were very flavourful though the margherita was a little soggy in the middle. Perhaps it could have used a little more time in the oven.

All in all, we enjoyed our meal and would return.

Thai chicken pizza is the BEST pizza in town!
DoubleBites
Woo! Anyways, the restaurant has special ordering procedures and the steps are explained on the order sheets. Basically when you sit down at a table, menus, order sheets and a pencil are already on your table; you just write down what you would want on the sheet and take it up to the counter to place your order. You do not have to wait at the counter until your food is ready nor come back to pick them up.

Diner from south langley. Cheerful staff nice environment but poor pizza way too soggy and lukewarm. this pizza couldn't stand in the shadow of Emilio Finatis pizza at 5 corners!
Rossco
Service was glacially slow, service was unhelpful, pizza was soggy and cold, management were lecherous (although this seems to be the norm in Surrey).

If you want decent service best to go topless.

And bring your own food to keep you going just in case...

Yum Yum Give Me Some!!. I absolutely love this place. The best pizza, service and value you can get in Surrey! The staff were extremely nice and attentive. Oh man they had a drink called a Mela Margarita (out of this world) ! It was really to find also. Right next to a big shiny building. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Don't waste your time or your money - Awful. My wife and child decided to try Famoso out on a Sunday at 3 pm. Our first and last visit
This review is justified from a very upset guest

I emailed (multiple times) the head office and the GM of the operation and NEVER GOT A RESPONE on our issues - I want the community of South Surrey and White Rock to know that you don't value your customers when they a concearn privately and directly to your operation ...... your operation is a disgrace when it comes to customer service and the pizza we had was awful. Why?
Ours came out with barely any toppings, I was like this is it (the most expensive pizza on the menu) it came to our table... then our regular server shows up with the same pizza 30 seconds later....... As a customer ...... we had an immediate comparision and the pizza she had - had triple the amount of toppings!!! We ask her to switch it and she walked away with the pizza we felt was ours. The waitress identified it was the same pizza. Seriously turned around - walked away and didn't see her for about 8 minutes. So we ate what was there.
We tried our pizza - Soggy, flavourless and with little topping. We identified only one piece a chicken on the pizza and only one spring of cilantro. We were like WOW - seriously. The salad my wife ordered was very oilly.
I didn't complain but I should have at the moment but when you have a 3 year old child who wants to go - I just said I'll email and make it easier to deal with....... Well I got my non-response, which in turn gets a posted negative review. FYI - no manager was ever seen walking around or table touching!
We had so many servers come to our table - it was confusing and concearning.
I've been to Naples and all over Italy - it does not compare - it was terrible - a waste of money and time.
For the amount spent - I will enjoy My Shanti coming up beside you shortly or the multiple great restaurants in the area. I suggest others not to visit your operation as I was disappointed on all levels - the final knife is knowing that the operation does not value you the paying customer

UPDATE: Within 2 hours of this posting - Famoso Head Office contacted me to discuss my issue and they way they failed to address the issue that I tried to keep between myself an operation

Great experience. We have came here a couple of times and have enjoyed the food every time. We have tried several different pizzas from here and they were all fantastic. They even have gluten free crust which is awesome. Our server Alison was also very helpful in pointing out some of the popular pizzas and took great care of us. Definitely will be coming back!
Jasonbuchamer8
Famoso. Sweet BBQ chicken is amazing.
Our server Alison was very nice and made our first experience awesome!

Still needs some work but we'll try it again. Went last night and had a salad and a pizza. They forgot our salad and had to remake it. Patio is pleasant, food was tasty and the staff young and friendly. Will try again and see if the slow down a little and get the bugs out.

I had the pleasure of trying out the new Famoso in our area for the first time yesterday. I must say the food was great. The service was good for only one girl running the entire joint. Teesha I believe her name was. I felt bad that she was running around so tirelessly but she did a great job. One suggestion is to maybe have another person serving as well. Just so she has some extra help. But I will definitely be going back. Thank you Teesha for being a great server and being helpful and attentive even though you had a load of stuff to do as well. We will be back very soon!

Excellent Meal. Their bearded kitchen staff look like they came from the Paleolithic, but their pizzas are utterly delicious nonetheless.

Great Food + Great Service = I'm coming back for more!. Thought I'd give this place a try since it opened up in the area recently. I had a very enjoyable evening with my wife. Our drinks and food were served promptly, and no less by a very outgoing server. To Jesse: keep up the good work! We'll be back soon!

Never in all my life, have I ever had something so delicious! Their mouth watering pizzas are so unique and scrumptious. The waitresses and waiters have got such amazing personalities. I'll always remember kayla my server, she kept the smiles and food coming. I can't help but keep going back! I'd highly recommend this place to anyone!

Famoso. This place is awesome! Had a great time and great service! The pizza was awesome and our server Alison was very attentive. Will definitely be coming back here for sure

3 Strikes You're OUT. Well after giving this new restaurant the benefit of the doubt, I went for the 3rd and last time. Looking back, the service was much better my first visit than my second & third time. I'm not a fan of their self-service/table service concept to begin with as it certainly doesn't seem to save any time and is mostly just creating more work for the customer. Every time I went something was either wrong or missing from our order. Had to ask for cutlery & water. Super loud, and the food is mediocre at best.

Excellent authentic Italian style pizza
Beergeek
Bright, Loud and Soggy. Nothing wrong with the concept (order at the counter, pour your own wine), and I really like the $10 off bottles of wine on some nights. But the pizza is soggy and poorly prepared, and if you're a grown-up, the utter lack of sound baffling in the room, combined with the open kitchen/bar concept will leave you unable to hear or speak to anyone at your table.

There may have been issues at opening with unanticipated lines and such, but the real deal-breaker is the quality of the pizza--if the middle falls out in a ball of soggy dough, what's the point of b*tching about anything else?

Horrible service. Even worse food. Appies never arrived. Pizza was oily. Dessert came an hour after we finished dinner. Staff were miserable people.
Krystalpie
The service was terrible. Forgot half our order. Waited an hour for dessert which never came after multiple reminders. Manager did not seem to care. Pizzas were way too oily. Will not be visiting this establishment again and will be telling friends and family to stay away from this place.

Watery pizza. Im italian, so I like my pizza. I think if you are gojng to sell me on pizza then learn how to do it right and water puddled on a pizza isn't appeasing. Other than that the service was great. For a family of 3, it costed us 70$, which I felt for pizza to be a little expensive..

Amazing food, good atmosphere. Had dinner there tonight, will definitely be going back. We ordered the Primavera and the classic Margherita pizza, I asked for them to be well done as I had heard the pizzas tend to be a little 'soggy'. It was PERFECTLY cooked, kudos to the chef and everyone in the kitchen. The tomato sauce was exquisite, you can really taste the difference specific ingredients make (imported italian tomatoes). I found there to be a little bit too much oil on the Primavera pizza with the 'Bianca Sauce' base, but the toppings and overall flavour more than made up for it.
Our server was absolutely lovely and the service was extremely fast (we had our pizzas brought out to us in under 10 minutes).

I highly suggest trying this place out, I'm not really sure why the negative reviews. Maybe it being a new kitchen, it can easily get overwhelmed. Try going on a weekday where they wont be as busy.

Last Straw. My boyfriend and I had eaten here a few times and it seemed to get progressively worse. Tonight was the last straw. My parents came out and we decided to take them to Famoso as they are Italian and I thought it would be a cool experience, I was wrong, it turned out to be embarrassing to even recommend this place. From beginning to end it was awful. We put our names on a wait list only to have people after us seated before us. Once seated we ordered drinks and appies only to have our appetizers (the prosuccito wrapped mozzarella balls) come absolutely cold, not even cooked. This was absolutely disappointing as this was the only reason we continued to come back. Instead of refiring the dish, they only stuck what was left in the bowl back in the oven. Instead of two per person we were left with one per person, that alone was appalling. The manager didn't seem to care and we noticed other people around us sending back their food too. Perhaps the pizza could save us from a completly disappointing meal? ... Nope! The margarita pizza was lacking not just basil and but cheese. It was a big sloppy saucey mess. To top it all off our server looked like she was having a miserable day which didn't help the situation. The disasterous food could have been saved by decent service, but this was far from the case.
Bart Entwhistle
Ate there last night. Busy, loud, new. Service was lack-lustre, food very expensive and the pizza was under cooked in the centre. Will not return.
Amy Younis
We went there on Mother's Day after the terrible food we ate at Sammy J's across the street for desert and coffee, the tiramisu was delicious and the coffee was one of the best we had!
Definitely going back soon!
Delanie
I was really looking forward to eating here but was really disappointed in the pizza. All of the pizzas at our table of 11 arrived less than hot and had soggy middles. Some were over cooked on the bottom but somehow still spongy on top. I will say our servers were super friendly if a bit disorganized and the gelato was delicious.
Sbon1996
Bravo. While visiting Vancouver I ate at the Morgan Crossing Famoso.
The pizza was very good and i noticed the pizzaiolo was Italian, lucky for you.
The only thing I didn't like is that there isn't much organization , maybe because you just started.

Not worth your money. Pizza was below average. Manager was very arrogant. Service was brutal, and the waitress asked if we should pour our own wine. lol
Steve Mitten
Very Promising. I thought these guys would never open. They had their "opening soon" banner up for about 6 months. Nevertheless, it was worth the wait. Even in the rush of opening week they are doing a lot of things right.

The venue is bright with a nice buzz. Not too noisy, but not the place for an intimate dinner either. The pizza is very good in the classic Neapolitan style. Thin, chewy crust and fabulous, authentic, tomato sauce.

While they are obviously still training, the managers are very good here. It is clear they have been though this process before. Good selection of appys (the olives are great), beverages, salads and desserts, including some great gelato.

The only reservation I have is their obvious attachment to the "go up to the register and place your order yourself" protocol. This really makes no sense to me, particularly in this market where people want to be waited on when they go out. I don't want to fumble around writing down my order, and would much rather see more servers employed and connecting with patrons.

As it is, you have to place your first order at the register, then you can place further orders from your server, or go back to the register. This leads to some confusion, and I feel for the servers, because I suspect may folks are not tipping well, as they have to do so much themselves.

Hopefully the owners will get the message.
Herman_merman
Busy opening week. I would like to see a separate cashier or ordering area for take out . It was very busy and the service was a bit rushed. I found it very noisy. It was difficult to have a conversation between customers and ordering staff. The young man working with the dough seemed very confident and was working steadily to keep up with the demand. The pizza crust was too thin for my liking.
The tomato sauce on the pizza was too watery, making the center of the pizza a bit soggy and did not have much flavor as if it hadn't simmered enough.
We will come back at a less busy time. Good Luck!
Nicole Floris
The BEST pizza and gelato I have ever had and great service. Highly highly recommended. Did I mention it was amazing?
Dgrange10
If you don’t have time sit and dine, call ahead for a take out pizza.
This location is brand new so is doing their best to work out the initial training and new opening trials but the flavours and great tastes are already right on the money,
You Gotta Try This!

I never take many trips to South Surrey, but while I was in the area, my coworker took us to Famoso Neopolitan Pizzeria in Morgan Crossing for lunch. I’ve been to the Commercial Drive location a few years ago and I remember the pizzas being pretty decent. Once you are seated, there are menus at the table. You will find pencils and note pads on the table to write down your order. It helps you remember you are ordering when you go up to the counter. I always thought this was a weird concept that you would have to go up to the counter to take your order and pay. Why can’t they just come and take your order? It’s part of their service-style across all their locations. I personally find that it just cheapens the experience. Pizzetta is their lunch special and you can choose from a small pizza, which is half the size of their regular pizzas with an optional side. I chose the Don Andreas pizza and the Napoli Salad ($12). Don Andreas pizza is recently new on their spring and summer menu. It

We also tried the BBQ chicken pizza. This pizza has a generous layer of BBQ sauce, layered with chicken breast chunks, fresh mozzarella and pico de gallo. My friend liked more than the Margherita, but not for me. It needed more cheese, and less BBQ sauce.
