Review Jerusalem Grill & Shawarma - Surrey

Came in today with my husband for a late lunch. Place was empty and quiet so it was peaceful to relax at while waiting for our food. Food came out and seemed super fresh and had good flavour and portions. We were happy to eat there and don’t have any complaints.

Seems like this locations is getting mixed reviews Our experience was okay We got in on a day when it was not that busy. Food seemed to be fresh and taste, only thing we noticed Frise were not fully cooked. Service was okay, I guess they mostly care about their regular customers. Might give the Langley location a try and see if there is actually a difference.

UPDATED I had a family dinner and decided to order from Jerusalem grill for the first time based on word of mouth and how great the food is. My experience was the complete opposite: I ordered 2 family meals, one with the whole chicken and one with the mixed grill skewers. The kebab skewers were undercooked! Still pink inside and burnt on the outside. I had a pregnant lady and a 2 year old starting to eat from the kebab. I put it in the oven for a bit to cook it but did not work for us, the kebab skewers met the trash. The fattoush and tabbouleh came without dressing, only the vegetables. The stuffed vine leaves were not edible i onky had a bite and directly threw them away. The rice was still not cooked and it tasted so bad. I giving 2 stars because the chicken shawarma was good but the service is bad. I called the restaurant for a complaint, they took my contact information and said that the owner will call me the next day, no one did, its been a week. ( the photo is the kebab previously cut in tiny pieces for the 2 year old to eat, its in a pan on the stove to cook it again) UPDATE: *SENT THE OWNER THE EMAIL WITH THE COMPLAINTS NO ANSWER TILL NOW. WON'T BE ORDERING FROM HERE ANYMORE THE LANGLEY LOCATION IS MUCH BETTER*

Had the lamb chop with rice, salad and bread with house made hummus and garlic aioli. Hands down best hummus and garlic sauce I had. The tabouli salad was really good, also the bread was very good. The rice had a perfect texture. The lamb was okay but portion was very small especially compared to the photo advertised on the menu board. I would like to come back and try their donairs.

We have ordered Chicken wings (8 wings grilled or fried) and did the take-out. As you can see in the picture, there is one piece that is missing from the food. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible. The overall service was bad too. Sorry to say it.

The welcome, the service, the food... All excellent. I arrived several days ago about a half an hour before the restaurant closed and the food served was still excellent! I'll return for more!

I love their chicken sharma, I wish i could say the same their service. It was a very cold service I had received. It was the time the owner's daughter was fasting. I would be miserable if I was fasting. I am sorry she is in a customer service business. I am a paying customer and i expect great service. ( i personally give my best service under any circumstances) I thought I make a friendly conversation to emphasize with her. Oh my! She was worse! She said that she she hasnt had the best sleep and hungry, I do not like talking when i feel tired and hungry. I sure felt bad for ordering food at their restaurant. I have been going to this restaurant for over 5 years. Since I was in her hair I will no longer go there.

Very bad experience. We ordered mix shawarma plate but all three meat we got were so dry and definitely didn't tasted fresh. The roasted lamb shank had no taste to it as well, completely plain. The final item was falafel which was overcooked and too dry inside. Overall it was pricey and not worth it.

I just stopped in to grab a falafel plate, (Fraser Hwy Location). Best falafel I've ever had in my life. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. The Tabbouleh is delicious! I am floored by the quality of the food for the extremely reasonable price point. I'll be back, for sure.

Great service and excellent food. The owner was so friendly and hospitable. Our family loved eating at the Langley location... The chicken and lamb were tasty, the salads were amazing and you can't get any better than his garlic sauce. Highly recommend.

I have been here a few times, service has always been horrible. I did like the grilled beef wrap though, and I've had it a few times. Today, the beef tasted so bad I don't even know how to describe it. I took a bite and spat it out. I smelled the beef and it didn't smell right. Worst food experience ever. I will never eat here again. Save your money, nothing here is worth it. The whole place is dirty, including the kitchen. Not even the people running the place look clean to be honest.

Recent renovations from the main restaurant also changed the menu by placing new appetizers and also dinner items. If you like lamb, a lamb dish as seen by the photo is recently on the menu, the food is made fresh in the oven so if you are in a rush don’t order it but if you are dining in, it’s a must try item. Enjoy and invite your friends! What makes your dining experience complete is by spending a meal with great friends. Family friendly atmosphere, cultural pictures and fresh food.

Spices and flavours are always good. Food is fresh and well prepared. Service is always on the slow side bit not painfully so. Prices are reasonable and there are many options.

We ordered Sheeh Kabab & chicken wings  with rice & fries  and so disappointed rice has too much of cinnamon & food was not as per expectation  even fries were so soggy.. :( like hummus though and pita bread ..

Worst service ever! Went for dinner and it took an hour for some of us to get our food. 3 people had to wait another 30 minutes. 2 of them were children and only ordered rice. We asked several times but they seemed incompetent to walk over to the rice cooker and dish some up. Poor kids were crying. Didn't even get an apology. Will never go back.

I grew up in Surrey and lived there pretty much my whole life... so... if you ever need foodie questions for the surrounding area I am your girl. Literally ate the entire Surrey/Langley/White Rock, it's all in my belly. This place is one of my favourite, Jerusalem Grill. Hands down one of the best. Juiciest chicken, because it's made to order. Rice has so much flavour. My favourite salad with deep fried pita chips. The garlic sauce is amazing and hummus is AMAZING! Okay? Got it. Go here! Seriously, the garlic sauce is the best thing about this place.

Best falafel in Surrey - hands down!  Possibly even the lower mainland but I haven't tried them all yet so we'll have to wait on the final ruling. ;-)<br/><br/>Great service, always polite and friendly and the prices are reasonable.<br/><br/>Freshly made to order the falafel was crispy, warm and flavourful. I haven't tried their dine in service yet but we'll make it a point to go back for sure.

Great food but terrible atmosphere. It feels like Jesus just died and they're still mourning him. Highly reccomend getting takeout and devour your beef skewers with cinnamon rice in happiness.

Good Food but uncomfortable atmosphere. I can see why this is a not a pleasant dining experience for a lot of people. It's dark, kinda empty and there is no music or anything... I normally like to judge a place on food alone, (which is actually quite tasty here) but when you try to enjoy a meal with someone who is creeped out by the place, it's hard. <br/><br/>There is nothing here that isn't easily fixed. Some lights, music, and a bit of warmth would go a long way. Then you can actually focus on enjoying the food.

Great Food!. That review below about the restaurant being a drug front is so rude! Anyway, i've been coming to this restaurant since it opened and I've always found the food to be delicious. The garlic sauce is soo good. The portions are quite generous as well. Haven't had any problems with the service and I find the owner (I assume he is the owner) always nice. Definitely check the place out. One of the best middle eastern restaurants in the area.

The place SUCKS!!! My husband and i went here once. I had falafel and it was cold and looked pre shaped and cooked from frozen. Maybe they got it at costco in bags. My husband got this meat on a stick that looked like it was chewed up, squeezed onto a stick and cooked for too long. Small portion too much money. Id say this seems to be a drug front business. We seemed to be the only ones there, except these shady guys in suits and a kid in sweats. Weird ass place.... Id never go back

First time trying, order #14 mix platter to get a good mix of the 3 different skewers (lamb, chicken, beef kufta). Everything fresh and tasty. Not a fan of the beef kufta, but i love lamb. Definitly authentic looking at others eating there. Will be back for more of that yummy lamb.

The entertainment book had a sale on their books for $5.99 for the whole book,which caused our regular customers to buy several books and imagined that they can still used them.we cancelled the deal with the company,but unfortunately we have no way of contacting those who bought and have not redeemed.we have been giving $5 discount for those who have not tried our food yet and have not used a coupon at our location and have a <br/>valid coupon as a welcome massage.we have a promotion to serve and support our buss and not to harm it,as this deal turned to be working against our goal.<br/>Thank you for understanding

I've only been to Jerusalem grill once, I enjoyed the food, fresh and tasty. Second time I went there we had a coupon from the entertainment book, I guess there was an issue with the restaurant and the coupon company, we were informed that they will not honour our coupon that was still valid, expires in November because of an issue they had. I feel this was terrible customer service, he didn't offer us anything in compensation or to even make us feel slightly better about this. I will hesitate to return, as I did not feel they cared, I had a sense he was slightly arrogant and didn't need our business.

Nice surprise. Good eats for good price. For donair go with the chicken...everything else...Lamb :) Nice to have something new in this part of town

There are some new hires help but I gotta say the customer service sucks!!! 2 thumbs down. Not to mention very cocky attitude. And the difference in totals I have been paying when I came here. Ask for your receipt and compare them to the previous order totals folks. <br/><br/>I am not coming here again!! Gross<br/><br/><br/>-----11 Aug, 2013-----<br/><br/>Used to come here all the time but not anymore!! They don't get the order right, charge $1-2 for garlic dips even if you order a combo. Rip off!! Think I ll stick to McDonald's. <br/><br/>Waiting time sucks. Expect to wait from 20 mins or longer for your order on a Saturday night. Not impressed by the service.

Super tasty, and seems pretty healthy. It's one of Surrey's cheap, yet decent places to eat.

Food is fresh and the garlic sauce is to die for, however, it's around $13 for a 2 skewer meal, ok for dinner pricing but they should maybe consider lowering the pricing for lunch hours. One thing that really needs attention though... the place is filthy, floors dirty and covered with crumbs, dirt and food remnants, pop counter and machine all sticky and gross, tables left unwiped even though no one is sitting at them. Clean up your act and more success would probably come, you have to wonder what condition the kitchen is in if the front of the house is that dirty, but the food doesn't seem to reflect the cleanliness of the restaurant, always fresh.

Worst Customer Service. We waited over an hour for our food to be delivered, the order that was finally delivered was wrong, he left without giving us the complete order, when confronted we were told it was our fault and that the rest of the order would not be delivered to us even though we were charged for it already. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER especially coming from the owner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Food. Food is good, even leftovers including the french fries taste good the next day. The owner is a little quirky-takes a little getting used to but overall a nice guy.

I really enjoy the food here it's really fresh and the plates are a really well rounded mixture very refreshing. Their lamb is especially good in my opinion. The service although slow at times is sincere and friendly (sometimes it just gets busy) but worth the wait for the fresh food.

Customer Service Issues. Packed the kids up and decided to go here to try out our Groupon. Upon arrival, there was only one (1) table occupied in the whole restaurant, and they offered us a menu. When I mentioned we had a Groupon, the owner mentioned that we would need a reservation. He pointed out it was in the fine print on the Groupon. I was shocked, seeing as how the whole restaurant was EMPTY at 7:30pm at night. He tied to say they were booked with a lot of reservations. I asked when the next available reservation was. He said I would have had to book by noon to get one? (Serious?!?). They wouldn't serve us. Something fishy. If they were fully booked with reservations, I would expect more people seated at 7:30 pm. I don't think I'll ever come back here. I've asked for a refund. Too bad, I really wanted to give these guys a try.

This is a great place to eat. Very fresh and flavorful food, friendly staff, and good prices. First time I've tried Mediterranean food and I liked it!

My boyfriend and I have been here several times and continue to go back. The food is really delicious, fresh & healthy too. We've tried most of the dishes on the menu and have no complaints except for the Grape Leaves - don't try the Grape Leaves. The owner is friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice with big bright windows. We only have one small complaint; the food is a little over priced but that won't deter us from going back there!

Awesome Food. I've been here many times and the food is consistently delicious. They use such fresh ingredients and the salads and dips are beyond flavourful. The food does take a bit longer to get out but that's probably because the owner is also the cook, server and busboy and is doing his best to run his small business. I would definitely recommend Jerusalem Grill - big portions, great value, healthy food and just so tasty!!

Food was ehhhh.. Ive tried the beef kufta meal, lamb donair platter & chicken donair and my favourite part of it all was the hummus & green salad. <br/><br/>Meat was tasteless & donairs were dry and unappetizing (I was born in the middle east so i've had my fair share of LEGIT shawarma/donairs)

Good reviews probably posted by owners friends (note the dates ) food ok at most. Serving size very different when you use a coupon. ( a couple used a groupon got a smaller version of the same food we ordered). The waiter/ server very cocky, almost rude. Told me to "take your time (ordering ), you're the one giving me your money", like WTF? <br/>Like I said, food is ok but.......

For the take out portions they seemed a bit pricey, but after looking at what was included and the quality, I’d happily pay it. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Platter. The portion didn’t look huge, but it was a decent amount. And they had everything that I would want in a Shawarma Platter. They had plenty of chicken and rice, and they also had hummus, and taboulleh which they don’t often have. And they gave a good amount. They even included the pita that they line the bottom of the rice pot with which is nice and crispy and flavourful.  There were also pickled vegetables and pita bread. The taboulleh was nice and fresh, and the chicken was moist, with flavourful rice. I would get it again easily.
