I ordered the green curry with prawns and asked for extra spice ~ it was amazing. So tasty and nourishing. The sauce was on point. Got a side of rice too and they gave generous portions. A bit pricey but worth it. I am going back for sure!
Outstanding food, friendly people, nice atmosphere. This is my new go-to Thai place.
Recommend the green curry, cashew chicken, angel wings, and prawn aroy-d.
Came here for a lunch date with my husband and got seated right away. The ambience is very lovely and the service was wonderful. I ordered the pad thai and my husband got the beef pad gra pow.
The soup of the day was tom yum soup which came with our lunch specials. They throw in a couple of raw mushrooms in the soup right before serving and we weren't fans. I found the soup had a nice amount of galangal in it but was lacking in tamarind and fish sauce. It was overall quite bland. The spring roll however was nice and hot and very crispy. I really enjoyed it.
My pad thai had a nice charred flavour to it and they were generous with the shrimp and tofu. I felt like it again could have used a bit more tamarind and it would have been perfect!
My hubby's beef pad gra pow was delicious. We asked for spicy and they gave us a great amount of spice. The sauce was delicious and the variety of veggies was great. Their carrots were a bit undercooked for my hubby but I like them not soft and soggy so I really enjoyed them.
Overall it was a pleasant experience with great service. Thai By Thai, however, still remains my number 1 go to for Thai food!
Lower Mainland Muncher
+4.5
Authentic mom & pop thai restaurant. Been coming here for years! Portions are a little small but that's because they truly care about the quality of every dish. Must try their pad thai and spring rolls!
Awesome restaurant...a great value and a must try!
Green Curry Chicken. Unbelievably delicious, I've been having dreams about it, with my mouth salivating the past three days.
Best Thai Food in Surrey. My fiancee and I LOVE Thai food. We plan on having it at our wedding in a few months, but sadly we had not been able to find a place in Surrey that really impressed us. We tried Sandar's on a whim after seeing the positive rating and were really impressed. Prawns aroy-d is an interesting dish that we hadn't seen at any other Thai places - it takes all the best parts of tom kah soup and makes it into a seafood dish! Pad See Ew and Swimming Angels (which he was happy to swap in veggies for spinach) is an absolute delight for fans of peanut sauce. If you're looking for a good Thai place, you can't get much better than this.
Absolutely fantastic. The dishes have so much flavor, the decor is nicely done, great price on the lunch menu, and friendly service. Definitely my new favorite Thai place.
2016August Delicious Thai Food. This place is very small. I usually order takeout, but on this occasion I dined in for lunch. Ended up ordering the garlic chicken, red Curry and the crispy noodle chicken. The red and green curries are so good. The lunch specials are definitely worth the price. The lunch specials are $10 they come with a spring roll and either a soup or salad, and your choice of entrée.the services is good, the owner is so kind!Best Thai food I've tastest. This is definitely a hidden gem.
BEST EVER. OMMMMGGGG the Green Curry is so delicious as well as the red and yellow curry. Spring rolls are very good but over priced. I love the dressing they put on their lunch salad and all their soups. I must say tho the Pad Thai was disgusting and tasted like Ketchup. Friendly, peaceful and fresh.
First time tasting thai food and this experience was amazing! everything tasted so fresh, loved the decor and service was good! they make great curry (:
Very clean! Awesome service and most importantly, great food at a reasonable price. We've been to a number of great higher end restaurants in vancouver... But Sandars is even better. Their green coconut curry us superb. We have gone twice now. Excited to try more items.
Addicted to Thai food because of Sandar's!. A great experience to my first taste of Thai food. I am amazed at the amount of flavor in each dish. The location is honestly very odd and out of place, but the food is exceptional. It was quiet and peaceful and the server (who seemed like the owner) was very welcoming.
My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out. Although it's a small setting, the food is delicious. Props to the chef. A relatively quiet place in a busy complex, but great to spend quality time with your date. Check it out!
AMAZING THAI FOOD in Vancouver Area. Honestly... we have searched the Vancouver area for about 9 months... looking for GOOD Thai food... we have traveled all over America and been able to eat at the best Thai Restaurants, along with traveling several times to Bangkok... FINALLY... last weekend we stumbled upon this little restaurant in Surrey. I must say... it is the BEST Thai food you will find in the Vancouver area... if not Canada. THIS FOOD IS AMAZING..! When we first arrived we weren't quite sure what to think... so we stood outside reading the menu thru the window... a couple came out and we asked them "is the food very good?"... and I must say... they began to RANT and RAVE about this place..! We decided to go inside and try for ourselves. I am so glad we did..! Did I already tell you, this is the BEST Thai food..? WOW WOW WOW! You will LOVE this place. The owners are very friendly. The prices are fair. The restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated. And the food is great... The spring rolls are absolutely amazing (especially the chili sauce served with them). We ordered 3 dishes... Chicken Pad Thai, Cashew Chicken, and the Chicken Red Curry... all 3 were THE BEST..! Also tried the Tom Yum Gai soup... it was delicious too. YOU NEED TO TRY THIS PLACE... YOU WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE AFTER YOU DO..! IT IS AMAZING..! That's all I can say... Amazing Thai Food..! Highly recommended.
Fantastic!!. My husband and I had a beautiful dinner there tonight. We ordered the Chicken Satay (the peanut sauce was wonderful), then we had the Green Chicken Curry and the Pad Ped, a bamboo shoot dish.
I must say, the Green Curry dish was absolutely perfect!! The Thai House at Metrotown makes a similar dish that has been my fave for years...til now. Sandar's Thai Garden is now my favourite!!! The Pad Ped dish was really delicious too!
We are so excited to bring friends and family to this quaint, little dining experience. The atmosphere was relaxing, the service was spot on and the food reminded me why Thai food is still my fave!!!
First time experience.....great!. We were there last night for supper. The decor and the ambiance was fine, the music was authentic, yet relaxing.
The gentleman who served us was polite and courteous, and always smiled :) He seemed happy at his job.
When we ordered we had 3 dishes, the pad thai, the extra spicy curry, and ginger beef. All the dishes were cooked fine in my opinion. The curry was a little too spicy for my palette, but my wife had a fine experience with it. We also ordered the tom yam goong soup to start, which was delicious :)
We did not have desert, nor did we have any other drinks except water. Our server gave us our bill, which was around 50 dollars. I could see the prices here being a little bit less, but I am not complaining. The place has been at its current location for about 3 years, and after talking to our server, said that the place is busy at lunch and often at dinner, however it was not the case when we were there (although the place is not huge).
Overall, I would give this rating a 7/10. Its a nice place to visit!
Nice place, fast lunch. Green curry was excellent. Fast and friendly. Good value for lunch with soup, spring roll and menu item.
Ok Thai!. Pad thai was a bit soggy overcooked noodles but the flavor was bang on the spot, could have been just my order. However the green curry chicken was really really too wet not thick enough and very stingy on the MEAT! >:( we also ordered the basil beef which wasn't worth the bucks for 10.99 there were only about 10 pieces of beef and no sign of the basil leaves!! but I'm glad that the prawns ARROY-D made up for it nice lemongrass flavor but nothing extraordinary can find this Thai fare anywhere. just OK I guess.
Ahhh! Rootin’ Tootin’ Newton! Home of the Krispy Kreme and more sushi joints than you can shake a stick at. But what if you’re not in the mood for some really sweet fried snacks or California rolls?
More golf. More eats with my buddies. Not sure what to eat, we just decided to let Urban Spoon lead us to a place near by. Sandar’s Thai Garden came up, and it sounded delicious to two us. The other was a bit scared of the heat. Sandar’s Thai Garden is right on 120th St on the Surrey side, where a Future Shop used to be – it’s now a Shoppers Drug Mart. It’s pretty nice inside, long and kind of narrow. We know we wanted Pad Thai, and curry (but not too spicy), and another dish. We ended up choosing Green Curry which is sweet and spicy, and King Pad with pork. We also grabbed some Satay Gai (chicken skewers with peanut sauce) for ($8). The Satay Gai came first – 4 chicken skewers with a sauce that tasted like a mix of peanut butter and hoisin. It’s marinated in coconut milk and spices. It had a decent amount of flavour even without the sauce, but I’m sure it’s a lot better with. The meat was tender and juicy. Me and my friend were really looking for
