Review The Clayton Public House - Surrey

Chill vibes and delicious food. Great 1st time here trying their food. Only had appetizers for lunch and they were hella awesome. Steak bites and Calamari were so good. Steak bites definitely up there with how well these were done. Super tender and not overcooked. Large chunks of steak lightly seasoned and the sauce, I think chipotle mayo or similar, go so well with it. Calamari tender with a crispy and light batter. Only thing to make this for me is a better sauce. I think their sauce for this Calamari has too much sour cream and can be overpowering. Overall awesome time here!

First time going here and I was not disappointed! First of all, I had the best wings I have ever had here! I also got the crispy chicken burger with fries and gravy and it was so delicious. The staff here are so kind and welcoming. Lots of tables and TV's. Such a cool vibe. I will definitely return :)

I would give 3.5 ratings. Food was good but service in overall was Okissh. The best thing here was happy hours menu.

We were there for an hour. Got served 1 drink. Finished the drink, and didn’t see anyone for an hour. Left cash on the table and left. I bet you it would be better on a day that doesn’t have playoffs on, but the mere fact that they are this understaffed is disrespectful to the employees. 3 servers and a manager that was in bar. The place was packed. I’d say like 100-120 guests. If they’re interested in a general manager that actually can problem solve when understaffed, give me a shout. Quite simple for me. Put a wait on the door, put up a please wait to be seated sign, have a manager come around and tend to tables that the servers can’t get to. If you put a wait on the door, sure you may turn away some incoming guests, but at least you then have an opportunity to tend to your guests and actually give your current diners the time and service that they deserve. You can easily keep people in the pub longer. The longer people are in a pub, the more they will buy. You keep them happy and well served, they will return. You have a great location with a fantastic atmosphere, I just feel like it’s being mismanaged.

Place has great ambience. Servers were friendly and attentive. Mel would always check back with us if we needed anything else. I really appreciate the effort by Mel. Food was good. My only dispute is the claim on the menu that their burger was voted best burger in town. It wasn't bad by I've had better. The burger was kinda dry. Still, overall a good experience. The place generates good vibes. I'll probably try other items in the menu when I go back.

Like coming home. Lots of seating. Comfortable vibe. Not too sportsy. The bartender was so enthusiastic and kind. Went above and beyond for me - I was a bit bedraggled from the rain. My food hasn’t even arrived and I wanted to leave a good review. Edit to add: the food was great, and they have a shuttle to pick up/drop off at your hotel if you’re visiting from out of town!

Great energy:) Great crowd:) Great drinks:) Not so great job of keeping the drinks flowing ( they were empty most of the sitting time) We both ordered Greek salad but was romaine lettuce based and really was far from how it should have been. There clearly was nothing clean including our table, the washrooms and the floor. I gave a nice tip anyway. Cheers.

Been here several time now and my final review would be , MEH. The place itself is nice and it has 2 big outdoor spaces. The downside is the food, lackluster at best. Every time I order chicken wings they are the skinniest chicken wings you will ever see, they are also as dry as beef Jerky that has been sitting for months. I also came here for crab leg night, the seafood is clearly froze and you can taste it i left feeling gross and disappointed. I personally wouldn't recommend this place for anything other than bottled beer.

We have been really impressed with this place for their great patio and wings on Tuesday nights. So much so, that a group of 8 of us specifically chose the Clayton as the place to celebrate a late Fathers Day dinner on June 21. We thought that it would be a great atmosphere to relax out on the patio with the great furniture and fire tables. Got there at 6:00 and was told that the patio wasn't open because "it looked like it was going to rain earlier that morning so they didn't open it". It was 6:00 and partly cloudy and about 20 degrees out. Rather than throw some cushions on the chairs, they let a party of 8 walk out and go down the street to another pub. Disappointing. They will have to do better then that if they want to encourage people to stick with this place. It's had tons of owners over the years and the inside isn't great; small and poorly laid out. If I can't sit outside, I'm going somewhere else for better ambiance.

Clayton House is fantastic. It was my first time there on Wednesday. Started with hot wings and a side of blue cheese dip. Very delicious! Our server was very friendly and was always ready to serve us more food and drinks. They had a crab and prawn combo special going on so I had to give it a try. Well, it was so good I had to order another one! I catch my own fresh Dungeoness crab every year. This place tempted me to just sell all my crab fishing gear. The crab they served me was a decent size so the claws and legs had plenty of meat. The prawns were cooked perfectly and were not overcooked to the point that they became rubbery. I'm definitely going to go back and invite all of my friends! Love this place!

Too loud to watch the fights, but then again all places are too loud to watch the fights. At some point my hearing will be at damaged the volume will seem acceptable, but for now it's another place that's so loud the only fun thing to do is drink

I was living on the memory from last summer, we very much enjoyed our crab and prawn combo then. Decided to go again last night hoping to enjoy the evening just as much... no such luck, the server didn't acknowledge us at all, the bartender brought us menus. The crab came out at the same time my husbands beer arrived, 5 minutes. They obviously precooked the crab and prawns, they were cold. And the beer was warm, thinking it could have been the line to that type of beer, hubby tried another and it too was warm. We ate and drank anyway, to add insult to the evening, the waitress gave me an eye roll when I asked for more water which when arrived to the table had no ice and floating bits in it. Was it too much to ask for a new glass?? Anyway, I never write reviews but last night was so terrible I thought I better warn others. We won't be returning.

$16.00 for a burger? $18.00 for a plate of nachos? Really kind of over priced for pub food. It's not in Yaletown but way out in Surrey. Not a place I will return to.

Went to the Clayton for my first time on Saturday Witt my sister and a friend . I had a great time ! We ended up sitting at the bar because it wa jam packed but we stayed for 5 hours ! Great environment , the bartenders were awrsome , never had to wave one down for another drink , and the food was phenomenal !! the coconut prawns were the best prawns I've ever had !! is go back just for the prawns alone but everything was great Ivw defiantly found my New favourite hang out spot .

Got to say, first place I've ever been that takes my money first (fund raiser) then takes 40 minutes to ask for my order (after grabbing my "waitress" to submit my order). Then after already paying and ordering, takes away two of our tables so we had to share 6 seats with 20 people, most of which were ordering food and drinks off of the regular menu as well. I literally had to stand in the aisle and eat my burger while there were empty tables present because they "weren't reserved for the fund raiser ". I can't express how terrible this experience was. This is my first review ever and I felt like I had to do something as a FU. If I can convince one person to not go, I've helped you. Even the managers shrugged us off, offering no solutions or even attempting to accommodate us (basically ignoring us). As I ate my food in the small aisle deliberately blocking traffic, the manager squeezed passed waiting for the issue to go away. I wish I went to McDonald's and ate a burger on the road in the snow.

Awesome friendly service. We took advantage of happy hour bevies then enjoyed the $6.00 fish & chips offered Thursday’s after 5! They were fabulous and the portion was generous with 2 nice sized pieces of fish. Will definitely return for this.

Service was great, food was delicious, drinks went down nicely, called on a Thursday to book my friends stag for Saturday, came in Saturday greeted instantly, had our area set up, never went a min waiting for food or drinks, honestly the best server I've ever had, have to hand it to her for dealing with a bunch up guys she was amazing. Would definitely come back for future events! If you haven't experienced a good professional atmosphere then you need to go there!

Just ordered from them through skip the dishes and the food that came was not the greatest. I called and spoke with the manager and right away he was very sorry and asked what he could do. I said I don't want my money back. He said can I offer you something else? I did order something else and he came and delivered it personally and the food was amazing! He also gave me gift certificates valued to the amount I spent. Very impressed with this customer service!!!!

Love this place!!! The food is really good and we always seem to get the blonde server who is awesome!! Wish they wouldn't have a live band during $1 crab legs because twice now we've had to wait extra long (45-60mins) for a larger table that seats 6-8 people because the band came in and took up the entire corner area just as we were going to be seated there. The band it's self is pretty good though.

Wednesday night crab and jumbo prawn meal was delicious. Our waitress was amazing; always checking to see if we needed anything. Will definitely go again and highly recommend this place.

My husband & I just had a delicious lunch at the Clayton Public House!! My chicken & brie sandwich was excellent & the salad was top-notch!! We'll come again!!

Service was brutal. Had to ask for milk and sugar for coffee 3 times. She forgot half of our food and never realized it. Benny was overpriced and below average and very uninspired. Gave this Copy Cat Donnely/JRG bar a shot as we've tried with every other place in that location. Just like its predecessors, this wont last long with awful service and below average food

Number 1 in costumer service. Nothing but complements and praise for there staff. Always have a great time, and leave with fond memories. Food is A1 and the drinks are refreshing. If you've never been, put it on the agenda! You won't regret it

Clayton Public House has a very nice patio,the waitresses are very friendly & the food is good at good prices. It's nice to see some vegetarian choices on the menu.

Well as i have spent many years in the pub industry as a manager and as a promotions & marketing manager and DJ for the Berezan group at the Golden Spike Pub.....I would just like to give props to the Clayton Public House. The food, atmosphere and patio makes for a fantastic experience. We have had the same server Chelsea 3 or 4 times now and just want to give her props. She is an awesome server and we now seek out her section when she is working. Thanks a lot and I hope your bar thrives as it deserves too. Also want to send my condolences with the loss of your manager. Very tough situation :( Cheers keep up the great work
