Review Hanaya Japanese Restaurant - Surrey

Asked for no avacado on the roll and they took it out of the inside but still put it on top... Kind of defeats the purpose. Generally food was pretty bland and meh. Feel like it's catered to people in the area. Only saving grace was the customer service.

Great restaurant with great vibes. Nice clean and beautifully decorated. Great place to take a date or go out with friends. Ramen is pretty good for what you can get around the area. Nice rich broth and tender noodles that were cooked to perfection. Meat is seared and smells and tastes amazing. But seared nigiri is a must try! I usually order one of everything on the seared nigiri section. It is amazing. Melts in your mouth and burst with flavors. 5/5 Customer service 5/5 Food 5/5 Decor 5/5 Atmosphere Great place.

We went for dinner here on a Sunday night. It was our first time, and I have to say, everything was exceptional. I've had better boutique sushi naturally, but if you're looking for a valuable and delicious sushi dinner, this is the place to go. Great atmosphere, tasty food, and phenomenal service. Bravo. Oh, and be sure to get your picture taken for their wall display. The wallpaper in the restaurant is lined with thousands of pictures of people who have dined there. Pretty awesome to see.

Had delivery from Hanaya a couple times and have been overall impressed with the quality. The portions are quite large and the fish is very fresh. The only downside is the orders do take longer than average, but the quality makes up for it!

Food fresh & clean ... Fantastic options. Beautiful & creative presentations .. favorite dynamite roll I've ever had lol know its one of the simpler rolls but had it other places that wouldn'tget it again... plus they use real ginger😁 not the pink stuff lol ... but that's a 50/50 gamble with sushi lovers lol... . Hanaya is our go-to sushi restaurant when we have out of town guests too. Show off a little of BC 😉

Wonderful! We were the only dine-in guests while there but they made us feel safe and comfortable. The sashimi and nigiri were very fresh. Service was prompt and food was plated beautifully. We’re glad to have spotted this gem in the neighborhood.

Best sushi place nearby, price is affordable, sushi is tasty, especially the seared sushi. 100% recommend!

Possibly the best Japanese resteraunt in the area. I've tried them all, and this is the one I find myself coming back to. Their California rolls are some of the best I've ever had and their presentation of everything is top notch.

So pleased with the food but not only that the service was wonderful. From placing the order over the phone and speaking with a very lovely lady to the man who delivered our food and even thanked us for ordering. Its those little things that go such a long way. Especially as business owners ourselves we know how important customer service is. You could feel the gratitude in us as customers. Since this was our first time ordering we were really hoping the food was as good as the service and it surpassed our expectations. We will for sure be ordering from Hanaya again. Highly recommend the Ocean Roll, Hawaiian Roll and Crazy boy Roll. Also the Veggie tempura, spring rolls and Chicken Yaki soba were delicious.  Everything tasted so fresh!

Food used to be really good at Hanaya. The last few times I visited, however,  the rice on some of the sushi rolls has been stale and the tuna sashmi tastes old. The service is slow, sometimes 40 mins between ordering and receiving our food. The owner has also been indifferent to complaints about poor service and food quality. Oh well, the search for good sushi in Surrey continues......

I used to eat here very frequently. I was excited to see they have a roll called "Vegan Roll" which has yam tempura in it. I was told numerous times that the tempura batter was completely vegan. HOWEVER I recently found out that there is EGG in the batter!! I called them to confirm this and after telling them this is NOT OK they assured me they will be changing the name. Still waiting on that! Lucky for me I do not have an egg allergy. I am so upset about this. Not okay to lie to your customers!!

Best sushi I have ever had! Spent 6 weeks in Vancouver for work, came accross this place had to go back with all my Co workers to enjoy it again.

The food there is really cheap and delicious. Their owner is a really nice and friendly guy. I really enjoy the inner design of the restaurant. Definitely worth to try.

We went there a second time this past Monday, and unfortunately our visit wasn't nearly as good as our first. The miso soup and appetizer tempura were good, but our rolls (negitoro, spicy tuna, dynamite) were mediocre. Sad to say, we won't be coming back. P.S. We only went here because Maguroguy was closed.

Had a great first impression of this place and will definitely be trying them again. Enjoyed both the spicy tuna roll and the awesome roll. Also tried the phili roll but it was just okay. They also suprised us by giving us a complimentary deep fried cali roll, which wasn't bad especially for being free. Staff was very attentive too.

A hidden gem! I love their special rolls. There are so many to choose from! The "Amazing Roll" was most certainly AMAZING 😍. Perfect if you're a tuna lover. Everything is made with attention to detail. Their decor inside is very cute too. Lit up cherry blossom trees and a whole wall of past customer's photos as their decor. Very unique and quirky 😉

Hanaya sushi is a great sushi restaurant but it does have its faults. Most of their seafood is fresh and delivered daily except for the ahi tuna. The tuna, which came for part of the nigiri set seemed watery and stale. Food preparation is sometimes sloppy but understandable seeing how it gets very busy during dinner service. Other than the tuna and the preparation, I simply cannot say anything bad about this place. Great sushi, affordable prices and good service, this restaurant has everything. I would highly recommend stopping by and if you do, definitely try their specialty rolls.

Great business Great Food. We live up the street and have been going here for 3 years. Not only is their food amazing but the people working there are so friendly and hard working. That in itself is hard to find! We're moving and we will miss this little sushi place so much! Best sushi in white rock south surrey (we've tried them all!)

Everyone should go!. I absolutely love going to this restaurant because of the atmosphere and the amazing food. Right when you walk in, you see all the pictures of the families who had been there before, on the walls, which creates such a homey vibe and a backstory to this cute restaurant. Definitely recommend anyone to go here because it's an amazing experience!

Love it!. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! The food is always excellent and the service is profound. Overall the atmosphere and energy is amazing! If your a sushi fan, i highly recomend this place! So many unqiue delish tasting rolls!

Dissappointed. Ramen is a joke, pretty much just a bag of Mr. Noodle with some broth and a piece of broccoli. Sushi is mediocre at best, not the greatest quality/taste. I was expecting a terrific meal based on what all the previous reviews had credited this restaurant, but was disappointed overall. Will not order food from this place again.

4 years and counting!. My husband and I have been dining at hanaya for four years. If you looking for a great atmosphere they have it, fast friendly service...they have it, fresh tasty sushi they definitely have it. Put aside their sushi which is in our families opinion... the best we've had, they have always treated us like family. They always ask about our son who spent numerous times at bc children's and you can tell they care not only about us but every person who enters through their door. This place is truly a gem! ....try the Las Vegas roll... Mmmmm

Went there yesterday very bad experience . v. Bad service rude waitress<br/>You put your order for all you can eat sushi you get half of it then you put the second instead you get your bill<br/>Last time I go there

Bad Service.... Going downhill. We used to frequent this restaurant regularly at least once a week, as a family of four. The service was always great, and the food was good. After a new sushi restaurant opened up in the neighbourhood (Maguro Guy) we took a brief hiatus from Hananya, and recently went back. Wow, has it ever gone downhill!! The service was terrible. I had to go up to the counter 3 times to get stuff since our waitress was non-existent. The food quality has gone down. They offer an All-you-can eat now, but I was afraid to order off that menu since it came with so many rules and regulations!! The worst part about our return there was that I asked for hot sauce and the waitress told me there was an extra charge...for hot sauce, are you kidding me??? This place has officially lost our business, and they are slowly starting to lose a lot of other customers with their poor customer service and greedy "extra charges". Save yourself the trip, and instead go to Maguro Guy. Way better food quality, presentation, and no extra charges for hot sauce!!!!

Good food but very bad service . went there for all you can eat . half the order didn't come kept asking it's coming nothing came then put another one 45 mins waiting and looking at them . they had 3 table's only still nothing but I can tell they didn't have any intention to get it and wants to get bored and leave<br/>The waitress was very rude

Amazing food and service in a very unique atmosphere. Servers and chefs were sweet and helpful. We took five adults and two babies, and had a great time. Prices are great for the quantity and quality you receive. Everything we tried was excellent, especially the crunchy scallop roll and las vegas roll.

Best bang for your buck sushi place in south surrey. Beautiful decor, great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and huge sized portions make this place a hidden gem!

I Heart This Place. Been eating at Hanaya for just over a year and the service and quality is always great! I have had food delivered twice and they have actually arrived quicker than they said, We always bring out of town guests there and they beam about the service and food. Hanaya is super family-friendly and did I mention how great the service is? The prices are great, and the vegas roll is my fave!

Terrible!!. This was some of the worst sushi I have had in BC. The $25.00 "deluxe" sashimi was all frozen fish and tough octopus, and tasted only of bleach. Disgusting. In addition the radish was tasteless, the leaves were lettuce. What a waste of money and time.

Done trying.... This is the fourth time I've tried to order delivery from Hanaya and also the fourth time they've told me to call back in an hour. Doesn't matter what time of day, they aren't delivering.

Dependable and Solid. South Surrey/White Rock is full of Japanese places to eat. Have tried a few of them but nothing beats the food and service at Hanaya. The fish is fresh and always served at the right temperature. Rolls are well made and do not fall apart. Gyoza and Tuna Karage will round out your meal nicely. The prices are terrific - very reasonable. Service is mostly good, nice hot tea and a small appetizer on the house as soon as you sit down. Very clean and just bordering on tacky in the decor department. Another plus for this place is that they DELIVER to your place at no additional cost. Can be a bit of a wait on the weekends but sure beats pizza or Chinese food when you are craving something fresh.

The Best. Hanaya is simply the best sushi place we've tried in the White Rock/S Surrey area. They do take-out but we prefer the cherry blossom ambiance of their very clean sit-down restaurant. Friendly and quick service.<br/>Many innovative rolls are available but we settled on the bento meal for an overview. The salmon box was outstanding and more food than we could finish. We'll be back for sure.

Delicious. Hanaya makes some great quality, comfort food-type sushi. The Las Vegas Roll is Hanaya's secret weapon.

GREAT SUSHI!!. This sushi is really good and inexpensive, i got the Las Vegas roll on a whim and it was the best roll i have ever tried and i have never seen it anywhere else!! and the way they present the rolls is beautiful!<br/><br/>they deliver to your house and the service was really fast and they don't charge for delivery! (only catch is that the order must be over 30 dollars) they even threw in a free California roll !!<br/><br/>i will be going back no doubt!

SO CRAZY GOOOOOOD!!!. Service is so fast, food is amazing i love sushi and this place is a great place to eat. the cherry blossoms in the restaurant make everything tie together. i defiantly would recommend this place to any sushi lover! PLUS THERE'S KOREAN FOOD !!!

Nothing special. Feel it is overpriced for the quality of the sushi and portions are small. Wouldn't go back.

AMAZING. I love this restraunt. The service is soo fast i can't believe someone said it was slow.. i've been coming here for years. The sushi is medium priced but always so fresh and amazing. I've never had something from them that i didn't like and wasn't up to par. I went yesterday with my boyfriend ( to give you a estimate of the price) we had deep fried california rolls, 2 chicken teriyaki meals , 2 miso soups, yam tempura and gyoza and the whole meal was 26.00 dollars... I think that's pretty good. best sushi place in white rock, this and HI SUSHI are the best. :)

I ordered a broad range of nigri sushi, some rolls and yam tempura from Hanaya. I am particular about sushi and was very pleased with the quality of everything we ordered. The fish was high quality and the proportion of rice to sushi was just right. The premises are clean and comfortable.

I like susi here. Service and taste is good but price is little bit high

Very slow take-out service. We walked in, restaurant was 1/3 full, placed an order and waited 1 hour for our food. After we watched 3 tables and 2 walk- in orders get served before us, we asked for our money back as the hadn't even started our order.

Great Sushi!. We have been looking for a while for a great sushi place. We have tried everything under the sun, little did we know this hidden gem was so close to us and we never thought of trying it! <br/>Absolutely great sushi, our favs are the Washigton Roll and the Crunchy roll, but there are so many different ones that it never gets old.
