Review Chef's Kebab - Surrey

Great little place and a great recommendation by a friend. Great flavour and not too spicy and not overly salted like some places. Everything was fantastic and great portion. We came here for lunch and got the lunch specials. We be coming back again for sure.

Excellent customer service, hot food and authentic Indian taste. The staff was very curtious and polite.

Absolutely delicious! This was our first time ordering from here, we had been wanting to try it for a while. We ordered vegetable pakoras, which were very tasty. Chicken korma which was so creamy and light. Lamb kebab, it had a very deep flavour and the korma balanced it out nicely. We also ordered pulao rice and of course garlic naan is a must! We were very impressed by the quality of the food and the flavours. I’d say this is our new favourite place!
Ankit Rajvanshi
One of the few Indian restaurants which looks neat and tidy. Food is yummy. Tried Chana Bhatura and Parantha. Staff is courteous and responsive. Peaceful nice place with beautiful ambience to enjoy authentic Indian food.

I had ordered food for catering. It was amazing, chef did a great job estimating quantity and preparing delicious food. Great quality and Highly recommend.

Finally the dishes looked different, but the taste was very similar. Badly presented. But anyway to go for a quick bite to eat is fine. The attention was very nice.

Absolutely love this place! Their staff is always friendly and food is always delicious. Have been here on many occasions have ordered the butter chicken, chili paneer, lamb korma and many more. Have never been disappointed. Easily my favourite spot in Surrey!

If you are looking for awesome food experience, this is the only place where you will find that anything you order from the menu will exceed your expectations in terms of taste and presentation. Have been to several places but still this place tops the chart and we consider it at first place. People working here are so friendly and professional. Can't even remember how many times we have been there with family and friends and everyone likes the food. Keep it up guys. You are the best.

This is such a great find for us. The Indian food is so delicious; fresh, and my favourite Korma is out of this world! We highly recommend this restaurant for eating in, (great friendly service) or take out. We will be feasting on their Indian food for Mother's Day tonight! Top rating. Adrienne & Fred H.

We never come into Surrey but had to run an errand so of course, we stopped to get some Indian eats. Found Chefs Kebab while searching for some cheap lunch specials. Couple signs outside. We dropped in on a Wednesday afternoon (around 1:00pm) and it was about a third full. The inside is modern but their seat layout is slightly bizarre/tight. Service was friendly and food came out quite quickly. Sad they didn’t ask us about spice level.
Iris Rose Santos-Marasigan
I went here yesterday with my family as I was curious about the rating. First of all I always pass by this restaurant but always had the impression of "it might not be good" please Do not be put off by the exterior of the restaurant. When we came inside I was shocked to see that there were about 5 tables filled with customers and the place was decent. As we came, several customers also came in and slowly filled the place. I ordered fish pakora, butter chicken, chicken tikka Afghan, 5 butter nan, and 2 bottles pops since I have kids and they dont like spicy foods.
The food was good! The serving portions are decent. I was relieved and was glad that I tried this place, at least I don't have to travel all the way to Delta when I crave for Indian dishes. Most of all, the pricing is fair. Will definitely return and recommend to friends and families.
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
Chef Kabob is right there on Fraser Highway and we've been driving past it for years. We finally stopped for lunch and after wished we had tried this place long ago!. We arrived on a Sunday at lunchtime and we were almost the only ones there and were seated right away. We started with our new favourite thing, chaat! We ordered the Chef's Special Chaat Papri. Crunchy fried morsels of naan or roti maybe, with a yoghurt sauce, green chutney and a sweetish tamarind chutney It was very tasty! Marie had her favourite butter chicken as a lunch special. It came with naan, lentils, pulao rice and a bit of a salad for $9.99, which is a pretty decent deal. The butter chicken was tasty and it turned out to be chicken with sauce rather than the pool of sauce with a bit of chicken that we often encounter. I had the Lamb Seekh Kabob Meal, another bargain at $12.99. These were tasty little guys (the kebabs) in the form of ground meat cooked on skewers. You need to try this if you're a fan of lamb! Finally, there was Paratha. This is a layered bread with what I believe to be a bit of cheese between the layers. It came with hot lime pickle (Love it. Remind me to pick up another jar.) and a yoghurt dip. This went home with us as well as some chicken, kebab etc., because obviously, we ordered too much. All this in the name of research! This is excellent tandoor made bread that reheats well. Oh and a Mango Lassi. Delicious! Comfortable place with friendly efficient staff. I am not hesitant in recommending it, especially for the excellent lunch specials.

Great food at a good price. We've been to Bassant motors to do a car maintenance and in the meantime went eating there with the family. We've tried the lunch combo they had since I guess 11.30 or so and it was excellent. Not a lot of food, though but it was very good and worth the visit.
Their chutney is awesome and I was impressed.
The service is attentive and nice. You won't be disappointed.
PS: I am a real costumer, I live far so it is not very likely that I will return but if you live around the area or happen to be around there go and try it.

I’m surprised I haven’t done a review on this restaurant yet. We frequent this place often and always enjoy everything we order. It’s very easy to miss based on its location. The exterior gives off “this place is not that good” kinda vibes. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

This was my first time to visit this restaurant and this location they had delicious food, the bread , the chicken tikka , dal and kofta , the service was fantastic, the atmosphere was family friendly, the sweets are delicious too , I recommend this restaurant 👍🏻

Had dinner here with a good friend as both of us were famished & had a mean craving for Indian food. He recommended this so off we went! First impressions of the dining area was small, quaint with table setting giving off a touch of class. Service, I felt was spotty but the food was fabolous! We had: chicken pakora, lamb seekh kebab, garlic naan, lamb curry with a side order of rice. We both left stuffed with a good amount of leftovers. Big portions, good variety & fairly priced. If you have a craving for authentic Indian/South Asian cuisine & are in the Fleetwood area this is your spot ☝

This place is fantastic! Lunch specials so affordable. Food is beyond yummy. Today the kiddo and I had chicken Tikka kabobs and chicken Tikka masala. YUMMY!!!

I'm telling you, I've never eaten a better chicken tikka in my entire life. The rest of the food is good as well. But come here for their tandoori chicken or chicken tikka, it is fantastic. It is seasoned very well and cooked to perfection. It is mouth watering and juicy. Our server was very attentive and the service was good.

This place was so yummy I want back twice in one week. The Afghani kebab is a great fusion of Indian and Mediterranean flavours. Meat is very tender, curries are great and they take pride in their service and presentation.

Chef Kebab is definitely my favourite Indian food joint around! And maybe even favourite restaurant all together. The food is always delicious and the meat always tastes fresh.
Don't expect a fancy environment (don't be put off by the exterior), but the staff are attentive enough to have a pleasant experience. I notice that often the restaurant is empty, but tons of people are ordering take-out.
My favourite dishes are the Aloo Gobi, Butter Chicken (nice and tomatoey), Lamb Curry, Lamb Korma (a must try!), and Fish Curry.

I highly recommend this restaurant!

After reading mixed reviews & unable to make up our mind, we were on our way to Guildford Moxie when we passed this place. It looks really dingy from the outside(hence .5 off) but the inside is amazing! There were reasonable amount of guests. Place was clean, tables/seats clean, servers were nice & friendly. The food was actually really good & well cooked. We got muttar paneer (cottage cheese with peas), half tandoori chicken, yellow daal (yellow split lentils), gobi parantha, naan, rice & some drinks. Total including tips $70. It was worth it. Must try!

This is a new found gem by accident when I was browsing through Zomato the other day though I have been living in this area for many years now and I was quick to recognize that it's a must visit joint right away. I went there the very evening and did a take out. The items I found were amazingly cheap and immensely tastty. Briyani needs a special mention here. It is the best in this part of the world.it is a genuine 'dum' briyani and nobody does that. I found preparations are excellent and very homely. I couldn't wait and the very next day I went with my wife for lunch. Their lunch specials are very good. This place has been added to our frequent visit list.

Honestly... restaurants in Surrey mostly suck. We know that. This is the only restaurant in Surrey that is easy to recommend without caveats. Chefs Kebab is great Indian food.
Wonderful Food. Delicious kebabs and curries. I would say Chef Kebab is indeed the best Indian restaurant in the lower mainland. Service is great. These guys know how to cook their dishes to perfection. I have tried their chicken tikka, chicken tikka afghani, lamb sheek kebab. Simply heavenly. Their kadai chicken, chicken tikka masala and goat curry are just mouth watering. Malai kofta, palak paneer, aloo gobi, vege korma are not to be missed. Chefs keep up the good work.

Bad Service. Purchased a Social Shopper coupon and came in with a group of friends. The owner was not willing to honour the coupon and showed a bunch of attitude when questioned about the details. Unfortunately, we did not even get to try any food as left promptly due to the terrible attitude of management.
Ekwc
Will never go there again!!. We are a group of friends who love eating Indian food. We got the SocialShopper deals to try at this restaurant. When arrived, we were skeptical as there is only another table on a Friday night. Anyway, we sat down. We presented the deals coupons from socialshopper to the waitress and she needs to talk to the manager. We waited a long time. No answer. My friend went to talk to the waitress and she said the manager is looking into it. It has been 15 minutes and we are hungry. We asked again and the manager finally show up with an attitude. He said "I will make you are deal. you need to seat in different tables in groups of 2. And you cannot use all your coupons. That is all I can offer you guys!" He was blunt, unprofessional and with bad people skill. There are many fine prints on the coupons as well. We were to spend over $100 there that night but we left with an anger that we were not welcome and the restaurant does not want our business. Please be aware. This restaurant is not friendly. There are many other good places in Surrey.

Place is not hygiene. I went their with my family. This place is not clean at all. Food order was butter chicken, theirs is hardly any chicken. They serve sauce with 2 or 3 very small chicken piece. I don't recommend this restaurant to anybody. Moreover the server was having some kind attitude problem not friendly at all.
Kvrajesh4
Pathetic service - watch out. Reading all the reviews, Me and my family with kids went to this place expecting a decent service...the service is very poor..probably loosing focus and getting carried away..Any average family with kids would expect a decent customer service, but I was disappointed with the way the entire experience turned out. I donot want to put the entire experience here- but suffice to say - watch out before you decide to dine here...
Yanyan_ekys
Great food and service!!. Tried their butter chicken, aloo gobi and a kebab that the server recommended! Food was delicious, place is clean, service was excellent! Would definitely come back again and recommend to others!

I have tried a lot of Indian restaurant... But this was by far the best Indian food I have had!! I highly recommend this restaurant, great food great people!

I felt the need to review this awesome place. Chefs Kebab is awesome, definitely check this place out. Awesome food, quick delivery, and great value.
When ever I come back to Surrey this place will be on the top of the list. I stopped my meal to write this review so hopefully that says how much I think you will like it.
Juliap
I don't often review places, but chefs kebab really deserves some great feedback! Cheap, fresh, and delicious cuisine! Lunch special (until 3:30 everyday) was sublime and very warm (only took 5 minutes to bring it out too!) incredible here, I have never been disappointed A++ :)

Dinner review. My husband and I and our 2 children (18, 9 y/o) went to this restaurant for the first time and this was the best Indian food we have eaten in a long time. The service is great. The lady who served us was very very nice and genuine. The food was heavenly and very fresh. The prices are really good. We are definitely going back here. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who like good Indian food.

Try to believe!. Awesome kabab's specially chicken tikka and lamb kabab! They are really juicy and out of this world! You must try to believe this! I have been regular client of theirs since they opened and highly recommended to all my friends and they all became regular clients. For christmas and new year we ordered catering and believe it was outstanding, everyone in the party was asking about the food. Even while writing this review, I feel hungry. Awesome Kebab's, Indian food is real Indian food you get to taste in India. MUST MUST TRY!
TBear
Alright. My first time at this particular place. The portion size is typical (enough for myself and my husband to share what was ordered). I couldn't help but over hear the constant slamming of what sounded like a microwave oven door. So that has left me wondering, do they batch cook and then put the food in the microwave before serving? Also we were asked if the butter chicken we ordered to be mild, med. or on the hotter side. We asked for it to be med. and it didn't come to us med in spice. But over all the food was good. We will go back vs. go to another Indian restaurant around the corner.

Awesome...!!! They know the meaning of kebab... Pls dont change ur quality. Ordered two items to takeout and the bag didnt feel too heavy... Lol
But when i opened there was a whole bunch of goodness in it ... It just looked so good ... Without even eating a thought came to my mind ... This is good food...food lovers u have to try this place out .... Seriously

Favourite local lunch spot. Ever since discovering it was actually a restaurant and not a used car dealership (you will understand when you get there) we have been thoroughly impressed with this place.

Fantastic Indian far at a great value.

A well hidden treasure. It was a dark rainy Sunday night around 6:00 pm, and we got slightly lost in Surrey. Having read a few online reviews of this restaurant, we were determined to find it. The restaurant's location - tucked between a second-hand auto lot and Kia dealership - is no indicator of the incredible quality Indian food experience that we discovered inside. So, first of all, don't let the location and the rather sparse (if not somewhat tacky) decor deter you. The food is absolutely exquisite. We had the stuffed naan (with spinach and potato) as well as the Chicken Tikka Afghani kebab and Lamb kebab dinner specials at $11.99 and $12.99 respectively. Both were comprised of perfectly spiced succulent portions of meat, vegetables, rice pulao, side salad and coriander chutney as a dipping sauce. The aromatic spicing was absolutely perfect, the meat and vegetables flavourful, and the chutney a perfect accompaniment to the stuffed naan. With a couple of refills of homemade chai, followed by house-made desserts (one order of gulab jamun and one of rasmoli), we left feeling filled... our palates tingling with delight. Chef Manish Rawat served us himself, taking time to explain the ingredients and his method of hand picking all the meat and grinding everything in-house. He made us feel like old friends who have come to dine in his home. Having tried several Indian restaurants in Vancouver, this little gem of a restaurant was truly a hidden treasure. We will definitely be back again. As I say, don't let the exterior location and the interior decor turn you away. The food will definitely not disappoint.

Fresh food. Good service. Gotta try different entrees to fully enjoy the authenticity.

So Fresh. Thanks for the great take-out, our lunch was still piping hot by the time I got to sit down and enjoy it. I will be returning very soon to sample more dishes and feast on some naan. The vegetable korma was delicious along with the butter chicken. Next time, I'll bring the whole family for a sit down meal.
The Baker's Cave
A Perfect Dinner. After reading the reviews on Urbanspoon, my husband and I decided to try Chef's Kebab and we are so glad we did. When we got there we were greeted by the owner (I think) who was wonderful, very chatty and super willing to give us suggestions on what to eat and how much to order. We decided on the veggie pakoras, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and pulao rice. I have to say it really was the best indian food I have experience and will definitely be making this one of our new friday night pit stops, plus they have great lunch specials for under $10.
Chris
Amazing Indian food. Good service, great food. We ordered pakora, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken; all were amazing. Great variety on the menu. Will definitely be going back.

Had the jackfruit kebab and the chicken afghan kebab. Jackfruit not my thing... Chicken was amazing. Butter Chicken was good aswell. Decent Indian food.

Decided to go to chefs kabab still sore that the pitstop is closed . We were greeted by a pleasant fellow. We ordered butter chicken and curry prawns , rice and nan. We were blown away. Prawns were huge. Chicken wonderful and everything else amazing. Service was great too. Will definitely enjoy coming back.

The Kebabs are sooo good!!. My BF and I just came back from the new location in Fleetwood, just around the corner from where we live. The new location is on Fraser Hwy & 162nd Street, beside Applewood Kia, or if you knew the old location for Farmer Ken's vegetable store long time ago. I had their chicken kebab with chunks of chicken meat and my BF had the lamb. We started with an assorted appetizer dish - it's so good - has fish pakoras, the indian cheese, samosa and there was one more, regular pakoras. None of the fried items were greasy as some places I've been. The kebabs were so well prepared and so flavourful and large portions, in my opinion. I had the Mango Lassi and it was very good with good mango flavour and my BF had the Chai. We tasted each other's drinks and it was very very good. We also ordered 2 garlic naans and the portions.. was very large and two may be too big for some so I would start with one and get another one if you need it. What a wonderful meal. YOU'VE GOTTA EAT HERE!! The new location is very large and can now fit large groups and there's seating outside too if you want that patio feel. They also have a 6.99 lunch buffet special every day!! Like I said, you gotta eat here!!
Bsk9596
Addictively good. What a wonderful discovery this restaurant has been. I'm actually a little terrified it will close because almost no one knows about it. Please folks: get a street sign! Once you've eaten there you'll be hooked. The kebabs and sauces are so flavorful, without an overbearing amount of hotness. The naan is the best I've ever had. Even my Indian-food-hating mom raves about Chef's Kebab. It's a hidden gem that deserves a lot more attention.
Marzi888
Great at their specialty :). We tried the jackfruit and the afghani chicken kebabs. They were so delish. Jackfruit has the nice crispy exterior, and almost a pickled, tangy interior - amazing. Chicken had nice spice. Great chutney. Also, love the chunky Raita! Channa masala (chick peas) and goat curry were reminiscent of homecooked meals with family- good, not spectacular compared to the kebabs. Glad to have found this hidden gem with friendly service and wonderful kebabs - looking forward to trying more kebabs next time.
Sanjot
I went there and ordered the lamb kakori kebab and chicken afghani tikka........i think i would not be going to any other place for eating kebabs in surrey.......there food was just awesome.....i have eaten in some very fine places in my life but those tikkas could be compared to the finest indian restaurants........juicy succulent and well marinated.......trust me......go there and you won't regret it........cheers to the chef who was willing to get feedback on his food and explain all the dishes........i will go back again and i guess thats the best compliment one can give as a customer
Pudgy
Refreshingly different. We ordered the kakori and afghani kebabs.. They were both delicious. For once we went to an Indian restaurant in the mainland where the server didn't ask "how spicy".. Instead the chef did it his way and did it just right.

Very talented chefs; something refreshingly different from the mainstream style food in this area.
Ric
Great food!. The food is fantastic. Freshly made with a distinctive taste. Don't let the modest setting fool you. You won't find better Indian food. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Raj
Excellent for take out . The appetizers were hot and fresh..... Loved the afghani chicken tikka.
Amelia Hunsche
They delivered, which was huge for us cause no other place would. And it was really yummy. Compares to highly to any other indian cusine we've had. Would definitely order again.

Unusual experience. Tried the restaurant out yesterday, after reading the good reviews.. Place is small and minimally furnished , but appeared clean. I ordered the lamb kebab combo. The food was tasty, but my lamb kebabs were served cold. I pointed this out to the chef when he came around. He appeared surprised at the comment; did not offer to rectify the situation and acted like an upset child when I went up to pay the tab. Even though the food was tasty, his lack of customer service will keep me from returning, and from recommending his restaurant.
4amVie
Friendly service and good food. The naan is fresh, light and fluffy with a crisp exterior. Loved the paneers. A wide variety of vegetarian dishes to choose from. Highly recommend. :)

I was pretty excited for my first Foodie Mashup with LazyMeal ! It was at Chef’s Kebab in Surrey. I was going right after work at 5pm for the 7pm event. However, due to the event’s time change at the last minute to 6pm, I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it on time, driving during peak hours from Brentwood area. Sure enough, I was going 30km/hour on the Trans Canada Highway on a rainy, miserable evening, driving through an area that I wasn’t familiar with. I knew I wasn’t going to make it on time. I left the office 5 minutes early, still, it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to the restaurant in which I had already missed 3 appetizers. Oh well, better late than missing the entire thing! And I was super stoked in going to the Mashup event. I got a chance to meet with two guru food bloggers – Jenny of My Secret Eden and Mary of Mary in Vancity . I’m still new to this food blogging, so it was great to finally meet some ‘veterans’ and hear their stories of how they got into blogging.

I was introduced to Chef Kebab by a local company called Lazymeal. Lazymeal is a service whose mission is to make food ordering for delivery and pickup easier, faster and fun from local restaurants in Vancouver. I’ve patterned up with them to bring you reviews of hidden gems such as Chef Kebab. Chef Kebab is located on Fraser Hwy in Surrey. A little out of the way and hidden in an industrial zone, the store front is quite unimpressive, and if you’re not looking for it, you’d probably miss it. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. I was joined on this culinary adventure by two other bloggers: Idea Rabbit and My Secret Eden . Their menu is an extensive array of traditional Indian food. Everything from curries, to kebabs and everything in between. Lazymeal sponsored our meal so we could have a chance to explore Chef Kebab’s most popular dishes. We started with some appetizers: First up was the chicken pakora ($8.99). The pakoras were crispy on the outside and juicy an

Chef Kebab, located almost in the middle of nowhere in Surrey/Delta area, and if it wasn’t for the internet, I would never had known it existed. We arrived at around 6pm and we were the only people dining in. We decided to get 2 kebabs, Chicken Tikka Afghani and Sarsoon Panner Tikka, as well as Panner Pakora , Butter Chicken and G arlic Naans . The first item I ate was the Panner Tikka. I’ve had panner deep fried and in curry many times, but never grilled and these were so yummy. The sweet and tangy marinate had huge flavour. I would totally order this again. The chicken was very nice too. The marinate was again very flavourful and the boneless chicken breast was still nice and moist. We also enjoyed the butter chicken curry. It was rich, tomatoey and delicious with freshly made naans. This was really a surprise find. The restaurant looks a little shady from the outside, and there isn’t much decoration inside the restaurant but the food was great. [Show as slideshow] [Vi

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the inside was nice and spacious. Despite the location, they were packed by about 7pm.
