Had to go with a group, for me the saving grace was I could order Thai on the fish side ( I love my Thai Palace) and not a fan of "fish n chips." The Teklenburg side seems to cater to a 75+ plus crowd (at night) I personally did not enjoy the environment. The prices and portions were very, very good( so were the fries I stole) Service was very efficient. I would return at lunch. For me lunch is more about quick, good food, and service then the overall dinning experience.
My new favourite fish 'n' chips. I had been wanting to see Sudbury -- yes, I know that's weird, but I used to live in a mining area in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, so I was curious about how Smeltertown would stack up against there. Anke & Tony's had a good rating on Urbanspoon, so I thought I'd check them out too. Glad I did! Not only was the fish 'n' chips good -- thin pieces of fish, crispy beer batter, a mound of fresh-cut semi-thick fries -- but the portion was huge for the price. Three pieces of fish for $9.95! It would have cost $5 more in Vancouver.
I wound up paying more for a bowl of lobster bisque than I did for the much larger fish 'n' chips. But I'm a sucker for lobster bisque. I always order it in hopes of finding something close to a saffron-laced version that I had in Fort Myers, Florida. Anke & Tony's take on this soup is way different -- it's tomato-based, like Manhattan clam chowder. But it's got a Cajun-ish cayenne peppery heat to it -- zesty, not tongue-scorching. There are chunks of lobster meat floating in the bowl. It reminded me of a lobster bisque I had in 2009 at a Chinese restaurant in Perth, Australia. I tell ya, I take lobster bisque seriously.
Great food. They do an excellent fish and chips and their seafood menu is pretty good. The owners are friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable.
Thanks to the Tecklenburg staff, was a very warm evening. Covid protocol in place, witnessed detailed cleaning of desks after guests left. Professional and friendly service, the location is quite nicely decorated. Honest and fresh food, had the seafood platter pan fried and grilled salmon, we loved it. A "must go to" for seafood fans.
Food was great, service equally so.
Pricing was awesome.
Best place in Sudbury for fish and chips.
Great food, very friendly waiter/owner. Food was delicious and served quickly. Has a cozy seaside tavern feel to it that takes you to the east coast. Easily one of the best places in Sudbury for seafood!
Very good restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great.
Amazing meal! I appreciate that the restaurant was able to accomodate my gluten/dairy allergy. I ordered The Canadian (shrimp, lobster, scallops and crab legs) and it was so delicious. Can't wait to order again.
Ordered a take out family meal of fish and chips for my son's birthday and it was great! The fish was nice and crisp with not too much batter. The fries were tasty, and the in house tartar sauce was wonderful. Would definitely order again. Thanks!
The service was great and hubby said it was the best frog legs he ever had!
