Review Flurples - Sudbury

Ashita Chandra
We have been here on multiple occasions when in the area for holidays and the kids love it. As do we. We love that they have gluten free options and vegan options and the coconut whipped cream is yummy!! Would highly recommend the milkshakes and the strawberry shortcake ice cream sundae. Open only for a few months in summer so head there in warm weather. You won't regret it.

Was in the area having some lunch and saw the Flurples’ store front which looked really nice so decided to give the ice cream a try. I got the strawberry shortbread sundae, boyfriend got the Oreo root beer milkshake. We both thought the the ice cream tasted off. We ended up eating half of it and throwing the rest out and was pretty disappointed given the high price point. It wasn’t until after reading the other reviews here on google that we realized it was vegan ice cream, that explains it. There should really be a sign in the store front stating the ice cream is vegan - we didn’t see any indication of this. I wouldn’t have purchased any products if I knew this ahead of time. I’m sure if you’re used to vegan food it may taste really good. But as a non-vegan I could taste the difference and it wasn’t the pleasant flavour I was anticipating.

$12 for 2 ice cream cones (chocolate pb) and they were so freezer burnt we threw both of them out. I'd rather eat Chapman's. On the positive side, I love the look and vibe of this place EDIT: Thanks for the response. I don't think it's actually freezer burnt. It had large ice crystals as if it has been partially thawed then frozen again. I'm sure if you check that tub you'll see what I mean

I've wanted to try Flurples for a while, but haven't had a chance. I went today after a visit to Tuco's Tacos and it was delicious! The prices weren't too bad and we got our orders really quickly. The portion sizes were huge; I couldn't finish mine. It might be better for sharing. I had the strawberry shortcake ice cream and it was really good! I did find it a *touch* too sweet, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so it might've just been my own personal preference. I also am not a big fan of coconut, so I didn't care much for the coconut whipped cream on top. But otherwise it was very good, and you could definitely fool non vegans into thinking it was dairy. Yummy!

Ridiculously rude staff. Barely any toppings on sundaes too. I don't normally write reviews but I'm not sure where they found these employees.. Having the small ordering window slammed in front of my face after asking one simple and friendly question isn't professional nor is it inviting. I enjoy the ice cream but.. I get anxiety thinking about ordering Flurples now- to the point where I choose to go to my local grocery store and buy a regular pint of dairy free ice cream instead. I don't enjoy paying my hard earned money (and tipping generously) just to feel like I'm getting bullied or like my questions are not taken seriously. EDIT: I had to re-post this review since they didn't post my original one?

Flurples has been a go-to place for my girlfriend and me for years. It’s really great to have a vegan ice cream place in town, especially right after grabbing a bite from Tucos across the street. However, we went today, and we experienced a huge change compared to what we were expecting. The ice cream products that they’re using have been changed dramatically, and they’re nowhere near as delicious as they used to be. I can appreciate the need to change to a less expensive product to keep prices the same in the present economy, but I’d much rather spend a few dollars more per item to get the superb product that we’re used to than spend what we did today to get what we got. Will still go to Tucos and Beards in the future, but will be hesitant to return to Flurples as long as they continue to use the ice cream products that they currently do.

So happy Sudbury has this great local vegan spot! Hard scoop is also Ontario based brand. Everything I’ve ordered from here has been delicious.

I just got this S’mores sundae and the vanilla ice cream did not taste or look anything like an ice cream. It’s more like an icy sugary sorbet. Absolute waste of money. I was so excited about this and it’s disappointing that these are so costly and yet taste like nothing!
