Review Mr. Prime Rib - Sudbury

Jenny Nicole
First visit to Mr Prime Rib and was very impressed! Staff was quite welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food was superb! The prime rib was deliciouly tender and moist. We also tried the Diablo burger which was amazingly tasty. Pricing matches the quality of ingredients. Will definitely be putting this restaurant at the top of our favorites list. Highly recommend giving this place a try if you haven't already.

Disappointing experience - Food was not worth the price, potatoes were lukewarm, meat was very bloody - was left a drenched plate after cutting the meat. Shrimp was very tasty and the waitress was nice, manager on duty seem to have a chip on his shoulder - didn’t walk anyone to their tables just pointed. Wish I could say I’ll return, but for the price there are to many other restaurants in the area that I’ve had a much better experience. (Lot 88, the keg, P&M)

Delighted to find Mr Prime Rib on our recent trip to Sudbury. Fine dining quality food in a relaxed setting and friendly service. You can tell the restaurant is run by a family who take a lot of pride in what they do. The French onion soup is among the best I have had anywhere (I order it anywhere I can find it and this soup is something I’d come back to Sudbury for!). The prime rib and beef ribs were also excellent. We will definitely be back. And will make sure we make reservations early! (We could barely get in for 4:30 early dinner as the restaurant was very busy after 5pm!)

Hadn't been there in a number of years but was referred by a friend to go back and try again because of the beef ribs and they were amazing. The garlic mashed was great the vegetables could have been a little hotter. My girlfriend had the burger and Caesar salad and she was very happy with it but will try the prime rib on a Kaiser next time. We both left and were satisfied with the meal and the price. We definitely will be going back.

Meal was great , the Lobster appetizer smothered in butter and broiled Swiss cheese . Waiter provided prompt, polite and quality customer service, we never had to ask for refills etc. Only reasons for 4, rather than 5 stars, was because the Prime rib wasn't very hot.and was actually cool.to the touch when brought to table. That being said ,It was still delicious and we where really hungry so we just gobbled it up. They are also very relaxed about checking vaccination status which was refreshing. Give it a try it's yummy. Highly recommend , will cost you a minimum of $100 for a party of 2.

this one star I'm giving our waiter as he was nice. But the place is outdated, old furniture, gloomy atmosphere. The house wine was warm and tasted awful. We couldn't pass the appetizers. The stuffed shrimps were horrible, shrimps rubbery and the feta cheese just didn't fit there. The escargot was rubbery too. The price was too high for the quality of food. Totally not worth it. We left right after. horrible experience!

Service was excellent inspite of the Covid restrictions. Staff was friendly. Great food and we did not wait too long for our order. I ordered their beef liver and it was perfect.

Went there last night for a special meal set up by Sam the owner. The food, wine and service is top notch. Best beef in town by far. Probably the best prime rib I have ever had. Looking forward to our next visit already!

My family has celebrated many anniversaries at Mr Prime Rib. We've eaten there for special occasions with family and friends. The meals are fantastic. The servers are fantastic. The atmosphere is always a welcoming one. If anyone is traveling to Sudbury, or simply wants a nice evening out with family, friends and/or loved ones, you should check out the menu and head in to Mr Prime Rib. A great job to all the staff.

It all started with a burn hole in our linen table cloth. We had got all dressed up, after driving 6 hours to get to this nice hotel and the restaurant they recommended. We had made reservations and we're going on what could be referred to as date night, only we had not done so in a very long time, having been married 43 years! I thought the table cloth was dirty when we sat down and while I tried to quickly swish it away, thinking it was an oversight, the lady seating us says its a burn hole! Any restaurant that charges 100.00 for 2 people to eat should KNOW better than to use up the old linens, it is called the cost of doing business. We ordered the French onion soup, which was awesome, but our prime rib dinners came when we were half through the soup. But I stopped with the soup to get the butter on my vegetables so it would melt, it sat there in a gob on top of the broccoli, I tried the potatoes and they were also on the cool side, meat not much hotter. Asked where the Yorkshire pudding was, because the picture in the brochure at the hotel, had this dinner plate looking like a million dollar dinner, should have stuck with the picture. Anyway, I hate making a fuss so I thought I would just eat the meat, then my husbands was cool too. So we sent them back to the kitchen, microwaved prime rib is tough, but we accepted our plates as returned to us. Then the manager was at another table and offered to bring them the Yorkshire pudding I assumed for free so I asked for one too! It came in a nice dish with a little gravy under it, it was still frozen at the bottom, by this time we were talking to the guy at the desk, seemed to be running bar and management. So he took it away and brought another one. At some point I pointd out to him the amount of grisel that I could not chew and he proceeded to tell me what a prime rib, looked like and that this was perfectly normal. I do not eat fish, I do not eat a lot of pork, so when we go to dinner I eat prime rib, so I know a good one from a poor one and this was a poor cut of beef. By this time our waitress would not even come to the table to pick up our payment, the manager had taken off the extra charge for soup, the cocktail my husband had and offered free dessert, but we had a coupon from hotel for free dessert, oh back up one minute, leftovers were not worth taking home, as they did not taste good in first place. So dessert time comes, the waitress had brought around a tray full of different desserts to each table and let each person choose what they wanted, so when it came time for our free dessert, she brings one raspberry cheesecake and sets it down between us, my husband politely askes about the tray of desserts the other patrons were offered, oh they are all spoken for, the table in the back that came in well after us, she was saving them for that table. So then she asked well what would you have picked, and I said the Carmel one, so she takes the raspberry away and plops down one Carmel cheesecake. I am sure the coupon was for a dessert each, but I was not going there at this point. My husband says could I at least get a coffee! Now remember we are paying 32.00 a plate for this fiasco. He drank his coffee, I ate part of the dessert and then we waited over 10 minutes for her to come back and get the bill, finally we took it to the cash ourselves. Talked to the manager about the dessert, or lack there of and he says somehow you got left out of the loop, I think he said, forgotten was the impression I was left with. When it came time to add the tip I said no, which I have never done before, then the manager says well she got a 50.00 tip from the table beside us, so in other words we were the problem not the cold vegetables and potatoes, the microwaved prime rib and the frozen Yorkshire pudding!!!!!! The more I think about that 100.00 coming up on the visa for payment the madder I get. Those dinners should have been free with just one of the screw ups, not the whole night. Needless to say date night did not turn out the way I had planned. NO I would not recommend this establishment, try the KEG!

I have been a patron of this fine family owned/operated establishment for years....I have never had an unsatisfying meal. I was employed there for a short time years back & can vouch for the quality of the food, beverages & the high level of service required to meet Sam's standards. You won't find a better fine dining experience in this city!

I have been eating here since I was a boy (more than 30 years) and it never fails to impress! Excellent service and excellent food. Perfect for a business dinner or family celebration. I cannot ever recall so much as a water glass going unfilled in decades of eating here.
