Review Cabotto's Restaurant - Stittsville

Cabotto's is as delicious as the first time we've tried it out. Pasta's are amazing and got a great suggestion from our waiter for the veal tonight.....SOOOO YUM!!! Oh and the service is top notch also. If you're in the West end of Ottawa, you gotta give it a try. Enjoy!!

Food was sooo good! Wish my water was topped up more often but other than that, highly recommend!

Cabotto's is such a special place - it is where we have chosen to celebrate our birthdays, date nights, and NYE since moving to the area last year. We especially want to commend the hostess, chef, and servers Andrew and Laura. Until tonight we had always been served by Andrew - professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. Tonight we were served by Laura - welcoming, observant, with a keen eye for detail. We hope to see Laura next time we visit! The food - perfection. Original farmhouse - you'll never be seated in a room with more than a handful of other folks. Beautiful artwork, stained glass windows, ceilings and chandeliers. Dining at Cabotto's is a full experience, filled with all the details that make you feel like a VIP ♡

The venue is stunning. Old school stone building with stained glass windows. The inside dining rooms can get loud when busy, but it feels very cozy nonetheless. Service was incredible, massive portions of excellent food at very reasonable prices. Not sure why I have never heard about this place until now.

Me and my husband dined in for our first time here tonight. Safe to say we’ll definitely be back. Thank you to Laura our server for being extra patient with my requests and for your great service that made our experience that much better. The food was absolutely delicious. We had bruschetta & calamari as our apps (10/10) and the butternut squash ravioli was amazing. Food portions are definitely a good size also. Definitely worth trying out. I would highly recommend this spot.

Wonderful dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant was very busy but we did not feel like we were being rushed along. Our server Laura was friendly and professional and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place, one of my favorite dining experiences.

Excellent food, great environment and top service. I reserved a table four days in advance and everything worked well.

A very nice and comforting venue to enjoy a great variety of Italian dishes. This place has many different rooms, suitable for both big and small groups.

Excellent Italian!
My first time here and was impressed.
The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The surroundings are interesting and make for a nice backdrop to dinner. The service was friendly and efficient.

Romantic night. The building is beautiful and extremely romantic which was what we wanted. Service was outstanding, and food was a delight. Will be back soon for the next special occasion!

This is my 2nd or 3rd time having dinner at Cabotto's, I keep coming back hoping it gets better. Alas, once again the food was just OK and priced such that it should be better. The carbonara was dry and basically "scrambled". My fiancé convinced me to send it back and a much better prepared serving was brought out. The waiter apologized and said he was surprised that first one left the kitchen. My fiancé had the chicken parm and said it was good, her Caesar salad was just OK.

Fairly Average Italian Food & Faily Average Service. We went there on a Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. I saw people complained about their slow service but we were pretty well shown the bill and out of the door within an hour after finishing a 3 course meal completed with appetizer, main, and dessert. We saw them turned away people who came without a reservation. Maybe that's the reason why we were shown out of the door sooooooooooooo quickly. We actually wanted to stay a bit longer but we just didn't feel welcome to stay longer.

People also mentioned their waiting staff is excellent. I have to respectfully disagree. They are OK. Not the best and not the worst either. You were greeted by a hostess as soon as you step in and led to the table right away. That part was excellent. Then we had to wait over 10 minutes to even get served with water. There was only one waiter serving our "room" with 5 to 6 tables. In the end, it was the bus boy who brought us water anyway after the waiter took our drinks order. They should have brought water to the guests as soon as you sat down at your table.

We ordered 4 appetizers to share and we told the waiter that. They brought out some cheap store brought bread and cold hard butter next. In most nice Italian places nowadays, you will be served nice hot bread when most are freshly baked actually instead of their lukewarm store brought bread. The butter was so cold and hard that it was hardly melting in those lukewarm bread. We had to wait for the waiter to come back to ask for some olive oil and vinegar that we more preferred anyway in a Italian restaurant.

The appetizers came next. They did know to put them on the centre of the table for us to share. However, our small (bread) plates were all dirty and wet now after the olive oil and vinegar mix. They did not bring out clean plates for us to use and the waiter was nowhere to be found. In our last 3 most recent dinning experiences, all the places brought out clean plates for us to use without us even having to ask when we were sharing the appetizers that we always love to do. Service is really not that great to our standards. Just very very average throughout the whole dinning experience.

I ordered their so called House Special - FETTUCCINE GAMBERI ($26). It was really nothing special. It came with only two large sea scallops and 3 medium sized shrimps. Most great pastas are wet and slippery. This one was thick and super gluey. You couldn't really roll the pasta using your fork. They would just break since the sauce was dry, thick, and super gluey. Taste was just OK. I did not really enjoyed it. The only good thing was that they did cook the scallops perfectly instead of over cooking them like in most other so called top Italian restaurants in town when the scallops were in the pasta.

We also had the butternut squash ravioli. It was OK again and not great. We also had the veal and shrimp dish and the AGNOLOTTI GORGONZOLA. They were OK too. Nothing spectacular.

We also tried their so called the best and must-try tiramisu. Again, too thick and definitely not the best tiramisu. My wife actually did not really like it.I doubt we will go back again unless someone invites us back especially when we were shown out of door in just under an hour for a supposedly fine dinning experience.

Terrible take out. I can't believe that the kitchen would put out this kind of dinner. Mi am so glad I did not have guests over and ordered a take out.

The canolloni was dry a drop of sauce and no cheese, the Caesar saturated and only had the lettuce ends. If they cannot handle a full restaurant and take out orders they should say so out front.

We sure do not have to go back to this restaurant ever again.

Building looks so romantic, food was a big disappointment. We always wanted to eat here...the building is old and beautiful. I had the ameretto chicken....it was doen very thin, fried in a pan, encrusted in almonds. Could not taste the chicken, only sweet almonds. The pasta that was served with the chicken was good. My dining partner had Marsala chicken. The sauce was bland and you could taste the thickening agent used. Vegetables were good. Service was excellent. I will try one more time and order a pasta dish. The ambiance is so romantic and comfortable, I sure wish we were just there on a bad night.

Great service, old menu and dicey food.. Had great service on a quiet Tuesday evening but the food was a disappointment. I was very much looking forward to the Mista salad. Had great memories of it from my last visit in 2012. It was only fair. Veggies were far from fresh and it was covered in a bottle raspberry tasting something instead of the fresh vinaigrette that they used to serve. Zucchini's were good but again the side dip was of the bottled variety. The prominent flavor of the tortellini soup unfortunately was salt. Coffee was great as was the wine list.
It is old school, dark and in it's own way romantic. The highlight of the evening was the service which was attentive and polite.
They may want to mix up the menu sometime. Can't claim to serve vine ripened tomatoes in a climate like this twelve months of the year.

I sent my friends for dinner for their birthday and I had high hopes and expectations. I always recommend a restaurant for people as I have been to many in the city. I told them the dinner was on me as a gift ... well good thing it was because they would habe regretted paying. They informed me how thw service was NOT what they expected! They were a younger couple in their 20s and were not taken seriously. The food seemed off as they put it and as they mentioned it they were told it was exactly what they wanted, however thats not what they were saying ... anyway after baring the odd taste od food they only ate parts of their meal. They wanted to just leave after the bad experience they had. They did leave and that night they both were sick .... both of them and all night and part of the day. So when told about this I decided to go for myself and found the service to be verly similar in how they descibed it. The food was ok... my pasta had alot of water in it so i mentioned it and they told me because its homemade! I am Italian and I know sauce this looked like they barely drained the over cooked pasta and threw sauce from a bag that was frozen. None the less the food was ok. The wine i chose was well balanced with the me. The last time I was there the foos was exceptional and the service was TOP notch. I wonder what happend here .... but for the price I paid and what I got and what my friends recieved ... I can say it will be along time before I go back ... Off to Preston st ... I guess

Wonderful Dining Experience for Intimate Wedding Reception. My husband and I had our wedding reception here two weeks ago and were extremely impressed with everything. In terms of a venue size for our small and intimate party, the beautiful private room upstairs was perfect. From the delicious and artfully presented food, attentive and helpful service, great wine list and menu options (we're both vegetarians) to the charming ambience of the restaurant, we can both easily say that our experience here was absolutely impressive and exceptional. Now back to the food: I can easily say it's the best Italian food I've eaten. I had the Penne Arrabiata, and Caprese salad. With every bite, I could tell that a lot of care, passion and skill was put into each dish. I could actually say that it was "cooked to perfection." Bravo, Cabotto's! Thank you for helping make it the happiest day of our lives. We will definitely be returning!

Mixed Feelings. Growing up in Kanata, Cabotto's had always been involved in all of our family celebrations. The service and food was always excellent. It had been many years since I visited the restaurant so I decided to check them out a few times. The heritage home is beautiful and a great improvement to the Beaverbrook location however it does seem a bit stuffy and old fashioned. The service is always amazing however the food seems to be hit and miss. While some dishes are good such as their infamous zucchini and pasta dishes, their seafood, fish, and meat dishes continue to disappoint in freshness and taste. I think they would benefit from removing some items from their huge menu and focusing on the items that they do well - especially now that there is competition down the street at Poco Pazzo!

Great!. Possibly the best restaurant in Ottawa that can be enjoyed on a weekly basis.

Overpriced and tasteless. I took my family to Cabotto's last Sunday evening for what I thought would be a good dinner. Turned out to be completely tastless and not even hot. The meat dish was full of fat and covered in some red sauce> Apparently that was the "special". When I complained to the waiter he applogized and offered us a free dessert. The bill came to almost $176.00 dollars before tip. Way too much money for only 4 people. Never go back!

Overpriced and over-rated. The food was overpriced and very bland. the caesar salad was wilted, could have been the day's before - who knows! it wasnt just mine, we were a large group and everyone's was identical. the agnolotti - well if there were 10 on my plate i would say that was being gernerous. for the price u pay, u come out hungry. the coffee, barely half a cup and no one came around to ask if we wanted it topped up. i was totally disappointed. i will not go back. at this price i could of gone to a better restaurant with better food at least twice, where they actually would appreciate my business!

Had high expectations - raw scallops, bland pasta - dry steak. Terrible service - took 1.5 hours to get our food. Will not be returning - will stick to Fratellis.

If you like antiques and the louis IV style you will enjoy this place food is good I found bathrooms are very small and at lunch time it can get crowded specially if you have work meetings there.

Always good.... Food, service, menu, prices are ALWAYS good. My wife and I go at least once a year - never disappointed :) They appreciate your patronage which is not always the case.

We don't go often. I was very surprised the last time we went to Cabotto's, it had been some time since our last visit and I find the menu hadn't changed but I'd sware the prices were lower. You simply can't beat the atmosphere anywhere in Kanata, and the service was very good. We found the prices quite reasonable and really enjoyed our meals, I had a stuffed pasta dish and the Mrs. had a chicken dish which we both thought were excellent. I'm going to make more of a point of getting back there.

Great All round. I had a family dinner at Cabotto's restaurant. The service was great, and the food was hot and the room was private and quiet. During the summer it may get a litle warm in the upstairs rooms, but the staff is great.
Thanks Cabotto's!

Great Food!. It's great food & service, but a little cramped for my liking.

Great staff party. Wonderful atmosphere and wonderful service. The owners really put their customers first and put $$ back into the business. Great to have a staff function here - our large group enjoyed it immensely.

Good food and value. This is the "go to" restaurant for me and my husband for special occasions or a date night. The atmosphere is nice, and not standard, and the food is tasty, generous serving sizes and excellent value, especially compared to downtown. I recommend this restaurant.
