Review Jade Gardens - St. John's

Not very good. If I were to rank the top 20 restaurants on the Avalon, I don't think that this place would even make the cut. The furniture is scuzzy. They tries to look all fancy with their stainless steel serving dishes, but they looks old and servers keep dropping them. Speaking of servers, they don't even look like they're dressed to go to work there, more like they stopped off on their way home from the gym.

Christmas Eve 2019 we preordered takeout. Dinner for 4 with a side order of chicken fried noodles. 6 of us could not eat it all. Very tasty food, on time pickup, great prices, and friendly and mannerly staff. This place is now our go-to spot for Chinese Food.

Possibly the worst Chinese food I have ever had in St John's. Floors were greasy and slippery. I stepped on a piece of mushy broccoli on the way to the table. They sat us down at a dirty table and then came to clean it afterwards. We were served unopened cans of coke, which is fine, but no mention of a glass or ice or straw. Chicken Guy Ding tasted like fish. So-called honey garlic ribs tasted like toast, yes toast. I don't know how else to explain it, but they were gross. Something tasted "off" about the sweet and sour sauce as well, although I couldn't figure out what it was. The chicken fried rice had no hint of chicken, and it was very much tasteless. It's as if the chef has no experience and is just making things up as they go along. Just a weird experience altogether. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also really strange - you can hear everything that everyone says - no matter where they are seated - so i felt uneasy about having any conversation over dinner, knowing that everyone else could hear me. My plate was almost completely full of food when it came time to leave, and the Guy Ding hadn't been touched because of the gross fishy smell. My plate was collected without any question as to why I didn't eat anything, they just took it away and said nothing. There are many places to eat Chinese food in St John's. I don't consider Jade Gardens to be one of them.

Food was fresh and tasty and the service was quick. Was a nice quiet lunch away from the office and definitely will be back. Good portion sizes too. Mmmmmmm.

We were excited about this new restaurant but boy were we disappointed. Nobody seems to know what they're doing and the food is not very good at all. Despite this, all i heard was the staff bragging about how everything was to die for. Try and see, but don't say I didn't warn ya b'ys

Food was really good. Service was a bit slow but there was a table of 20 got in ahead of me. Big portions! Give it a try!

I dont have enough good to say about this place. The food is fantastic and always hot and fresh and the staff is the friendliest in the city. I just love this place

Food and service was great! Everyone at the table had different combinations and each one was fresh, delicious and fast!
