Review The Rec Room - St. John's

Only been here twice before, and the first time was before the pandemic so my most recent experience is the most relevant for my score. Clearly understaffed, but still struggled to provide decent service with a restaurant that was far from busy. Wait time on the main course was a little longer than I would've liked, but the burger I had might be the worst burger I've ever had. The pizza was much better though. The cocktails were tasty and the edamame hummus was to die for, so I can't totally bash this place. I just wish it was better given the prices. My only other complaint is that the vibe sorta sucks. Music choices are very bass-heavy which can be a headache, noise from the arcade pollutes conversation, and giant TVs with flashing lights play Sports Center in a venue that definitely doesn't feel like a sports bar. It's just not what I remembered. Maybe try again in a year's time, hopefully they'll be better by then.

Considering what one can pay for entertainment these days, the prices for the games are very reasonable and they are well maintained. The restaurant was good for the price point but......We took the kids there and when the band started playing things were way too loud. When we got there for 6:30 reservation the place was half empty but it took 1 hour to get our food. Yes. Before one says that the band doesn't play until 8:30 it took us that long to get our meal, get it finished and pay for it. I had a burger because the patties are made in-house but the burger had two patties which were cooked way too much. They were about the size of the patties you get on the McDouble in a value meal. Fries were well seasoned and very good. I still gave it four stars because the cost of the evening was reasonable. I doubt that I will order a Burger again. The chicken burgers that passed by looked pretty good. Also, what you get for an $8 kids meal is excellent.

Very good social distancing measures in place. Nice variety of games for all kinds of skill levels. Didnt eat there so can't comment in the food, but the gaming side was good for 3 kids.

What a amazingly done chicken burger. There homemade fries and gravey also perfect. Great food and service was excellent. Was that good I forgot to take a picture of it lol

We were greeted by a friendly woman who welcomed us and brought us to our table. A few minutes later our server greeted us with menus and took our drink orders; a beer and a real berry lemonade. We were brought popcorn to snack on while we waited for our appetizer. We had a lovely appetizer, artichoke dip and along with our mains, fried fish sandwich with salad and fried chicken sandwich with fries (recommended by our server). The sandwiches were very delicious and the overall experience was amazing.

The arcade is really fun and has some great prizes! The 3 stars is because the food is expensive and gross

Very noisy environment makes it better for nights out with friends or colleagues. Good food at a very high price point. Good for team building and offers a wide variety of activities. Overall great for fun events but I would avoid for intimate or business events.

Great place for lunch and some games. The staff was nice and the food was good for a decent price. I recommend checking it out. I will be back.
