Review Montana's - St. John's

Decent food, excellent service, great location for a bite on the way to the airport. If you're looking for a burger or steak, they're good. The soup was just okay. The skillet cookies, I could eat them till I explode.

We had a great meal with friendly service. As a bonus they have the best smelling parking lot in the city! Love this place.

I enjoy the food here. I love the ribs and the choices of bbq sauce. Their appetizers are also quite good. I had the dill chippers. It was a very busy location. It did not get off to a good start though when our waitress forgot my beer and let my girlfriend's appetizer go to another table. She was not impressed but service improved after that. The food like I said was very tasty and the desserts were quite nice. I recommend going here when it's not quite so busy.

Seriously the food here was some of the best montanas I've ever had. The waitress we had was the nicest, bathrooms were very clean, good wifi.

*update jan/'19 re: Montana's Stavanger Drive My experience this particular time is just another example supporting my lack of desire to put my money into restaurants here in St. John's. It proves that there is absolutely no consistency in this city (where my main basis of opinion lays). My reviews prove it. This review came hesitantly because I chose to contact the restaurant manager before writing this. Scenario: ordered a pickup order over phone for 2 entrees (the app wouldn't work), was told 25 minutes. Arrived on time, waited an additional 20 minutes. Get home---the "loaded" mushroom chicken had 2 mushrooms; my medium-well steak was red, and the butter was not even melted on my baked potato (pics will be included). I had to actually microwave both my steak and potato. I could have done that with what I have in my fridge. Not impressed, so I called, bc that employee is probably still present--mgmt address your staff! Ok, so the AGM that night told me she had already given out soo many compensations, and would be in touch with me that Monday when district manager was also in town. That would have been Jan 28, 2019. Today is Feb. 6, 2019. Hence, my review. Haven't heard a word from anyone. Aug/2018: Had a great experience for a birthday supper! Absolutely no complaints. Staff was friendly, on the ball, polite. And there was barely any food leftover! We would definitely go back.

Delicious food as usual... turns out, the cornbread I was served was stale, so they brought me another, before I even noticed! Good service, we were either ahead of their usual Sunday rush, or the weather was a big factor

Normally I have great and friendly service. When we arrived the place was about 25% occupied, the greeter said hello and sat us right next to the kitchen door with all the bustling of the waiters and other staff. He didn't seem to either be there or pretend to be friendly. Our waitress was named Melissa and she was friendly and great at her job. She was what made this 3 star review not turn into a 1 star review. Our food was good but not great. Typically during lunch time it isn't as busy so one would expect a higher attention to the food that went out. My mac and cheese was warm and not hot which meant the cheese didn't really melt altogether with the pasta which wasn't pleasant. The croutons on the caesar salad were very hard to the point I thought I was going to chip a tooth, I prefer less the crunchy croutons. The cornbread was great as always and I had a sweet raspberry Somersby cider lemonade which was amazing. Overall it was an average experience and it all depends on what staff is on and what time of day it is.

I stopped off for a quick bite on my way home. The place was pretty much empty at 440PM. It took almost ten minutes for the server to take my drink order, another thirty for a simple medium rare steak and fries. My food was mundane at best, definitely more medium than medium rare, But my real issue was the absolute lack of service. Once my food was delivered, no one ever came back. Not to give me the two minute/two bite check to see if my meal was ok, not to see if I wanted another beer, not even when I was done and had an empty plate on the table for nearly ten minutes. Eventually I just put money under my glass and walked out. I may return to Montanas. But never to Montanas Stavanger. I eventuall

Very disappointed with the service last night, took us 1:45 for our food. Asked waitress once and she said we were next, waited for another 10 minutes and then spoke to the manager and was told they were playing our food, some of it came out, and waited another while for the rest. My friend got ignored as he tried to get the attention of someone to ask them how long it was going to take. Some food came out cold but we ate it anyway as we had kids who were very hungry being as it was going for 8. A table behind us was served and cleared twice before we had our food. Two other groups who sat down an hour after us received their food. We did get an apology and an explanation from the lady manager for the delay and she comp'ed our meal, but once she did that we were basically ignored by the waitress and not offered if we wanted desert or anything after our meal. I regularly eat out, and am very tolerant to service and understand that people can be busy. But given the explanations and the delays even after I enquires multiple times about our food, I felt like I was being lied to and they were just trying to put me off. I've also noticed similar comments about service last night and think there is a problem with the staff being overworked and not enough on for a Friday evening or they are incompetent. I normally enjoy Montana's but it will be a long time before I visit the one on Stavanger Drive again.

Really not impressed with the service myself and my friends experienced at Montana's on Stavanger Drive this evening. The service was extremely slow and we were not even offered an apology. We sat there for over an hour waiting for our food. It came to the point where we had to ask a waitress to get our bills as we could not wait any longer, because of other plans. We will no longer be returning to this location because of the service and are currently on the way to the Montanas on Kenmount Rd for our long awaited meals.

We had a great time. We went last night and had the potatoes skins and 3 cheese dip appetizers. Everyone's meals were great. I had he ribs. They were good but I missed not having the Jack Daniels flavour to pick from. I was also disappointed to find out that they didn't have the 3 mini ice cream cones anymore. Everyone's meals were hot but did take a little longer than you would normally expect. We ended up being there a little over an hour and half. But with 5 people I didn't find that too bad. Our server was great though. Kept the table cleared at appropriate times, drinks were refilled when they should have been, and she brought the food out as soon as it was ready. This place has never disappointed me.except that they keep taking things off the menu that I really like.

The service was excellent with a very friendly server. Our meal was served nice and hot in a great timely manner!!!! Had a great evening out and had a delicious meal !!! Thank you🙂

After waiting for 1 1/2 hours for food due to an issue in your kitchen (without a complaint from us) he was kind enough to bring our bill for $0.00. Your service was excellent and your apologies every time you walked by us did not go unnoticed. We thank you very much for the complimentary meal!!

Wait for table assertive waiter. Order wrong but too late tried to fix I do like the place just not the best evening

We went to the Stavanger location last night for supper for my girlfriends birthday. It will be our last! We were sat for 15 minutes without a table greet, our 2 blush’s took forever from the bar. No check ins on food Nothing! Had to hunt down a hostess to get the sauces we needed! Our server was nice but the service was very poor! Montana’s is one of our favourite restaurants but we won’t be returning to this location!

The food was really good, the service was terrible. I certainly wouldn't rush back. It wasn't even very busy. Our server decided to go chat with some people at another table for about 45 minutes .

Not impressed with the Kenmount location. Gave us a menu and after we decided and placed our order they informed us that one of menu items didn't exist yet and the other is no longer on menu. Wow a menu that is both out of date and not yet in use at the same time. Impressive.

I always love going to montanas and loved the ribs until last night. However, I think the recipe has changed for the ribs because they were extremely smoky, to the point that we didn't finish them, brought them home and threw in the garbage. They weren't hot either. Biggest waste to 80$ ever.. I will go back to Montanas but will not buy ribs anymore. So it was a big disappointment. The server was very nice and we did mention that the ribs were not hot and extremely smoky tasting

Awesome service and food for lunch today. Our server Jill was excellent. Couldn't have asked for better!

We ordered nachos & there wasn't enough cheese on them. The steaks were small and were well done when we wanted them medium rare. The french fries weren't even hot, they were warm. My daughter had chicken fingers and they were hard and the coleslaw wasn't very good. Overall we did t like the food.

I have never ever had a worst customer service or food experience. Kudos to the server trying to make a disastrous situation better. Your supervisor/Manager should of pulled you out of the water instead of letting you drown.

We go to Montanas alot for special occassions. Yesterday was our anniversary. My first time ordering a steak, while it was cooked to the doneness i requested, it was almost cold. The server was quite vocal that for a wednesday is was very busy and there was only 2 servers working. It seemed like a long time to get our food so i assume they were understaffed in the kitchen as well. Probably would explore other places next time we plan to eat out :(

Great service, great meal. Food was cooked to order. One of the sides came out a little cool and it was immediately changed for a fresh hot one.
