Review Trapper John's Museum And Pub - St. John's

Trapper John’s is absolutely legendary. 150,000 people screeched in and counting. The staff are all amazing, and the owner has etched his place as a part of St. John’s history for sure

If you are a POC do not go to this place. Wanted to get Screeched in and went ready to have some fun, instead, Terry the bar tender publicly berated me about where I was “really from”, making one stereotype after another. Even after being told to stop by various patrons, he got offended and angry at being called out. Hilarious. The whole room walked out with us. Super ignorant with short D energy.

Owner made everyone at the bar feel uncomfortable. Would not stop demanding to know a persons racial background even after being told it was offensive and racist by the person and their partner. Left the bar and will not be returning.

Staff are friendly, drink prices are fair and the place has a great ambience. Lots of history and mementos throughout the place. Comedy night is a hit and they do a good job on the screech in - especially if you have a big crowd.

Had horribly racist experience here. Ignorant owner would not stop demanding to know my wife’s racial background, was insanely racist and ignorant and he wouldn’t stop. Would not recommend this place. Horrible.

Just the place to visit while in St. John’s to get Screeched In!

First time to NFLD and glad I got screeched in here. Had a great history lesson about the screech rum and Newfoundland in general.
Josh Brown
Very good screech-in ceremony. Highly recommend to get screeched in at Trapper Johns!

Great place to go for some interesting Newfoundland facts. Loved the screen in !!!! The owner made all feel very welcome. Would absolutely visit here again and have told many people about this place already.

Thanks to Trapper Kelly for a memorable experience! Will definitely uphold my Newfie status forever

Doesn't look like much from the outside, and when you go in it feels much like a locals bar, and that's exactly what it is, because as you talk with the bar tenders and the owner trapper John himself you will find yourself getting screeched in and becoming a Newfie. My one complaint is that the trapper John issued passport did not work at customs nor did they find it funny

We stopped at Trapper John's to be "screeched in". Terry was wonderful and very entertaining and we learned a lot about the history of NL. It was a blast!

Had a great laugh getting Screeched Inn. It was quite the ordeal and you get a certificate.

Unassuming great spot and Kelly was an absolute gem. A true hospitality person who loves sharing stories and taking a genuine interest in people. Yes we got screeched and it was awesome

Trapper John included a special needs woman named Kathy in our "Screech In" without making it awkward for everyone especially her. You are a Class Act Trapper John!
Barry MacDonald
Awesome Screech In by Trapper Kelly. Would highly recommend.

The screeching in ceremonies are great fun and worth doing. There is a reason why they are so popular. Bring a friend to record

Visiting St John's, Newfoundland and planning on getting screeched-in? Do NOT go here. There is absolutely no authenticity whatsoever and VERY gimmicky. Frozen cod, plastic shot glass, and we couldn't even take a picture. Go to Christians where it is an hour and a half individual ceremony and not 15 minutes with 30 other people. I ripped up my certificate. Absolutely terrible and a ridiculous tourist attraction.
