Review Sushi Island - St. John's

Sushi Island has a good range of sushis to choose from and their stuff taste fairly good too. Reasonably priced and arranges their orders pretty fast.

I didn't think the sushi here was particularly good - it was quite average. I loved the way they do their service - the robot is awesome. But we were disappointed to find that they don't do all you can eat anymore. The sushi - the texture of the rice was not my favorite and something about the way the rolls were constructed did not result in the best flavor and texture experience. To be honest I'm surprised by the amount of positive reviews.

The place is very unassuming, but don't be fooled.. the food is excellent. The sushi is wonderfully prepared and extremely fresh. The ramen is also quite comforting with a respectable broth. They even have robots that come around to drop off your food. It was a good time had by all.

I worked here a few weeks. Horrible management. Very difficult to get your check. The tip you give goes directly to the owner, not to the employees who serve you (or at least he keeps most of it and gives the crumbs to the staff, or more to certain employees he prefers) You'll just make a greedy owner richer. About the sushi, if you've ever had sushi anywhere else in Canada, you’ll understand that theirs are very average. Don't be fooled by a service given by a robot. This place still works because they are well placed. Uptade : here’s my answer for the owner : I'm not sorry for my comment because it's completely the truth. If it wasn't the case what I said, why take it so personal? As they say "only the truth hurts." Besides exposing your rage like that in public, shows another questionable point about your management and your customer service as well. But at least, all of St. John's sees your true colors so I'll end this conversation on that happy note. And also, I would be happy to go to Labour services to report you, since you seem to know the laws better than anyone else and you asked so nicely. Maybe you'll learn to respect your employees and people in general next time.

Really nice place. The food was delicious! They no longer have all you can eat, but the size of their lunch bento box will leave you full! They have a cute robot that will bring your drinks and food to the table too.

I loved the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurant could have more decorative items to give it a more oriental and authentic look. Joy and the other server are both friendly and helpful. Thanks

great sushi and kind staff

The service here is incredible! The staff was knowledgeable about allergies and cross contamination, food came quickly, no wait time and it was super cheap for what you get! My husband and I came to St. John's 3 years ago for our honeymoon, and ate here multiple times in our 2 week stay! We are still talking about the all you can eat sushi, it was so good!! Would definitely recommend!

This is my go to place for all you can eat sushi. I like their loose leaf tea they serve and the Yummy Yummy rolls are my favorite. Kind of sad you can't get the Yummy Yummy rolls on their lunch menu. I like that their spicy broccoli rolls are served warm. Service is quick and staff are friendly. Dinner pricing is a bit pricy but if you can eat alot off sushi at one time, it's well worth it.

I would love to give this place a higher rating, but the cost is way too high for the level of service and food.  Although the sushi was fresh and tasty, the service was not greatest considering we were there during a slow time.  While the lunch time meal is affordable, the exact same meal for supper, this is all you can eat, is almost double the cost of the of the lunch meal.

I love going to their all you can eat lunch and dinners!! The service is prompt and friendly as well, which I think is important too. <br/>A good variety of menu choices as well.

I am very hard to please when it comes to sushi but the lunch buffet was amazing. Its not your typical buffet though, everything was made fresh to order and the service was great as well. This will be a regular for us when we make the move into St. John's permanently.<br/><br/>My only complaint is that there are no credit cards accepted. Visa and Debit only so be forewarned.

Fresh and delicious sushi downtown. I have eaten here several times but have never opted for the all you can eat option as the regular portions are filling on their own. I often grab lunch or takeout, which is quick and inexpensive. The salmon delight is delicious and offers a variety of fresh salmon including a large portion of delicious salmon sashimi (a personal favourite here). With a convenient location, fresh ingredients and consistent quality Sushi Island has become my favourite sushi restaurant in St. John's. Give it a try!

Really good!. The food here is very good and its probably the fastest service I've gotten at an all you can eat sushi place (food turned up on the table very quickly and its great when you're starving)! I've lived in Toronto and Edmonton so the price of this place is very decent for all you can eat. Raw fish is very fresh and generous and the amount of rice is very small portioned (I've been to sushi places where they stuff you with rice and give you very little seafood/fish/meat to make you full). Only thing is that it could have a bit more choices on the menu, but that's only because I've been to many sushi places. Overall, me and my husband really enjoyed this place!
