Review Yellowbelly Brewery & Public House - St. John's

The food is AMAZING. The curry&coconut mussels are soooo good and it’s such a big plate (it’s halfway eaten on my picture). The pizza is good too. The beer is great, but it was missing 2 when I went. Also, there was a problem with the music so the vibe was off. But otherwise, it was Nice.

We went for lunch and shared a 2 piece Salt & Vinegar Fish & Chips. They split the order and brought it out on separate plates which was a plus. The fish was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The fries were no slouch either and the malt aioli dip was so tasty. My wife had a Margarita which she enjoyed and I had a couple of pints of the Yellowbelly Pale Ale and it's a great beer at a great price. Friendly service and good atmosphere.

Such a delicious and inviting spot! The mussels were some of the freshest and most clean tasting I've had, possibly ever. And the pizza was phenomenal. 11/10 would recommend 👌

During a visit to St. John's, my family and I stopped here for lunch. We enjoyed very much the plates that we ordered (fish and chips, kids pizza), while the selection of five beer flights that I had--the samples included a lager, stout, and cream beer--were very good. I would certainly return here the next time I am in St. John’s.

As a celiac, I get excited about deep-fried things that I can have. The gluten-free Salt-n-vinegar fish n chips were outstanding! I 100% recommend. And the Fries were cooked to perfection. I was very happy with this meal. (I can't recall, so I'm not sure if they have a dedicated fryer. I tend to have mild to unnoticeable reactions to shared fryers though. Or maybe I'm just stubborn.) I also wanted to try the iceberg cider that they brew there, but unfortunately they were all out. (I eventually found one can at a liquor store, and it was good.) They were fairly busy, so the service was alright, but that's to be expected.

Stopped here for lunch and sat outside on the terrasse. We had fish and chips which was pretty perfect and muscles. We also tried their beer which they brew on location. The beer was very good!

That's was an interesting experience. We were seated at the lower level, which is called The Underbelly. Very authentic place, but really dark, to the point you need a flash light to read the menu. The food was really delicious and we liked beer, just sometimes it was difficult to see what I was eating 😅

Another recommended restaurant and it was quaint. It was a two tier restaurant/brewery and we ate upstairs. I had a sample flight and then a nice flatbread. Very tasty and a decent variety of beers.

We got the burger, pizza and mussel . We liked the mussel the most . We didn’t take the curry mussel but instead opted for the one with tomato sauce and chorizo, it was excellent. The guilty pleasure burger was also delicious. Pizza was average.

Always great food and drinks at YellowBelly Brewery. My husband absolutely loved the Chorizo Tomato mussels, and the fries, dressing and gravy was delicious. Very pleased and will be back again.

I have been hearing for years about how great this place is ... I was there for a work function and we had wings and nachos and things like that. Well last night my fiancé and I decided to go there for an actual meal. Not much appealed to us ( we aren't very picky people ) but we both decided on a classic burger with a poutine, and onion rings for an app. The onion rings were ...okay..not here flavourfull and the burger and poutines were ..just no. I could of went to Burger king and would of been more satisfied ! Even our drinks were warm and flat ... I truly never complain about places to eat .. But has a rare date night away from the kids ...this was a complete waste of $70 and we are both feeling gross today ... ( maybe coincidence? ) only good thing was our waitress was very nice and sweet and I couldn't be that person to ruin her night by complaining . never will I recommend this place ..and I'm sad over that because it was a top wedding venue option.

Took my friend out for a birthday dinner. Been there many times and alway enjoyed it. There were 4 of us. Food was great, service was not that great. Maybe they were too busy and not enough staff, but not our problem. We were seated a while before our drink order was taken. When the wine was ordered, I also asked for ice water for the table. It never came with the wine, so when I ordered a second glass of wine, I reminded the waitress about the water. She apologized, brought it out and was leaving us with it, but I had to remind her we didn't have glasses. Once our order was placed, we waited quite a while for it. Almost an hour. While we were eating, I eyed the waitress packing up leftovers for a table with her bare hands. She was kind of lookig to see if anyone was watching... Knowing my friend would only eat half, I suggested to the ladies to ask for a container if they were taking food home. The topper...two ladies ordered dessert, and again asked for a container in case they didn't finish it...the dessert was served to them, in the take away container...Whatever happened to presentation???

Had a great time at Yellowbelly Brewery. Tried the beer tasters. All 5 were great. The Wexford Wheat was very nice. And I don't normally like wheat beers. My favorite is the Fighting Irish Red Ale. Very good and went well with the mussels. The wood fired pizza was also very tasty. Great beer, good food and excellent service. The hostess told us there would be a wait for food but it certainly didn't seem to take long at all. Our server was fabulous. Can't wait to come back.

I was there this past Saturday with a group of 25 people. We made our reservation one month ago. It took 2 1/2 hours to get our food. Coincidentally, when we asked where it was the manager had it brought out right away. His explanation was that there was another large group upstairs; not our problem! One person with a medical condition needed her food served sooner and had to convince the server to do so. I had the lobster , along with a few others at the recommendation of the server. It must have been sitting with the other food under a heat lamp for a long time, .... it was tough and overcooked. The tail had been sliced open , .... the part that you save until the end, ..... I thought that being in a restaurant, downtown St John's that they would know how to cook seafood. I have had many a wonderful lobster dinner, this one wasnt. When we told the server how dissapointed we were we go an "I'm sorry" and that was it. Other people enjoyed their food. I am really sorry that I spent $32 on this disappointing crustacean.

Took my wife out for her birthday. She wanted to go down town. She likes outside on a deck. So what a better place to go. We did get a seat outside on a beautiful warm summers day. We both had burgers fries and a few drinks. Our son was with us as well. He had onions rings and fries. Service was fantastic keep that up. I must say our server was very polite. While out on the deck a guy was playing his guitar and singing. What great atmosphere. It would be worth while to have someone play there for ya.. thanks for a fantastic experience at your restaurant. Cheers

We went for a late lunch - had a great seafood chowder, beef dip sandwich and fish and chips - all really delicious and some tasty wheat beer/ good overall vibe, friendly staff. Big thumbs up!

Although the food was really good, the service was not. We waited a long time to be acknowledged. Then our second round of drinks didn't arrive even though the servers were just standing around. Finally our server returned with an apology, and the drink on the house. Great except he didn't bring my drink. He was friendly enough but tried too hard to " make up" once he realized his mistake.

What a great night we had last night at the Yellow belly Brewery. Food was fantastic and staff were amazing. The entire staff and restaurant sang happy Birthday to two of our guests led by the General Manager. It was very special and would definitely go again next time we are in town. Great service!!

While on an overnight visit to St.John's on the 12th, I suggested supper at Yellowbelly (3 of us had been there before and it was the other 3's first time). You did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, delicious food and amazing service (the friendly, attentive waitress even served a yummy peach drink of her own creation when my friend couldn't decide what she wanted, just knew she wanted something cool & fruit flavoured) . I chose a salmon club burger with fries along with a yellowbelly pale ale. Other choices for the table included warm pretzels, arancini, Classic Margarita Pizza, beef & mushroom burger & a quinoa black bean salad. We all enjoyed our meals & the experience. Thank You!
