Probably the best food I have had so far during my 10 days stay in St. John's.. amazing. Lucked out with not having a reservation. Scored.. then the waitress was Columbia and was amazing... the best definitely was the amazing dishes my dinner guests and I had. Pork shank.. Devine.. lamb looked amazing and the Wellington portobello style looked great.. dessert was so great. Go here
A nice relaxing atmosphere. The food was delicious. I had the calamari, salmon with maple glaze and tiger shrimp. For desert I had a cheesecake with blueberry sauce. The cheesecake was probably the best cheesecake I have ever eaten. My boyfriend had a steak dinner and it was done to his perfection and the frites that came with it were delicious. Our server greeted us with a smile every time and made sure we were always taken care of. Overall a great experience!!!!

The service there was wonderful, they really make sure that everything is perfect for you. The food was top notch, I had the steak and it was by far the best steak I have ever had In the city! It's a great place to go to celebrate any occasion, you won't be disappointed!
Came here for dinner tonight with my mom while vacationing in St. John's. By far the best meal we've had on our trip so far. The lobster was excellent - very fresh and not at all dry. Our server was great and very knowledgeable, especially regarding the wine list. She helped us pick the perfect pairing. It's very likely we'll come back to Oliver's before we leave NFLD.
Yesterday my family and I had the pleasure of eating at Oliver's for a late lunch in celebration of my convocation that evening. The food and service was excellent. You couldn't ask for more. I also very much appreciated the dessert I was treated to. It was a wonderful surprise that made the evening that much more special. I highly recommend going to Olivers for a special occasion or just for a lovely meal!
I was beyond impressed with both the service and the food. Both were phenomenal. I had the Beef sandwich with garlic whipped potatoes and it was delicious. The dessert was to die for! Thanks for the wonderful experience
Had a scrumptious meal of Rainbow Trout with Caper sauce on a bed of risotto with fresh beg and Sea Scallops. Wonderful portion First time visit. Can't wait to return. Thank you
Our favourite place to eat by far while visiting St. John's on our vacation. The menu was great, Americano's and dessert were the best we had durning our whole two weeks on the island, atmosphere was relaxing and the staff were super friendly. We ate there twice and will definitely go back durning our next vacation to Newfoundland.

Just amazing :) The pasta was very good, the waitress gave an excellent service and the dessert, delicious. And you have a good quality tea, apreciatte that. And wifi is quick. Everything good :3

This place is great. A nice little cozy place to have a fine meal. The two of us shared a scallop appetizer, which was nicely seasoned and had a little partridge berry jam on the side. I had a wonderfully prepared halibut and my girlfriend had lobster. Both were great.
This place is fantastic. The thing that took it to the next level was the service. I was one of a large group and the waitress knew each of our names. She was polite and friendly and right on time for all our needs. The food was delicious too!
An intimate and refreshing environment, away from the hustle and bustle of most downtown fine dining eateries. The food is rarely disappointing. The Mushroom Wellington is a personal favorite. Portions are controlled.
Have been to this restaurant many times and the food has always been good. For a change we had the salmon and scallops, (usually we have steak). The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant has seating for approximately 45 so a reservation may be necessary. It certainly pays to call ahead. One caveat. The table by the door can be cold in the winter as people enter or exit.

Fantastic food & fantastic s.... I walked into a full resturant solo without reservation and and given the cat seat at a four top by the window. Fantastic food, fantastic service, a return is a must!
I wandered into an almost packed joint without a reservation (my first choice had closed early), but they were very accommodating. I had the Bourbon Glazed Breast of Chicken and washed it down with two glasses of wine. Service and food were both excellent. The price was a bit more than I expected, but what the hell - it's downtown and work was paying! I'd go back.

Oliver's Restaurant, 160 Water Street, St Johns, Small restaurant, a nice variety of seafood, pasta dishes, steaks, chicken and lamb. Good selection of wines which compliment the menu. Good food, good service, pleasant ambiance. Worth a try.

Divine! A must stop for anyone in St John's who wants excellent food with incredibly friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. Pro tip: make a reservation! We saw several groups turned away as they did not have one, and all of the tables appeared to be reserved when we showed up for a 5 o'clock reservation on a Tuesday evening.
Our party had the calamari, seafood chowder, and salad to start, and then Cajun salmon (a daily special), the seafood platter, and the tenderloin for entrees, with maple cinnamon bread pudding for dessert. Zero complaints about any of it, absolutely phenomenal food. The steak was better than what we're used to in Alberta, and the seafood was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Our server made the experience even better as she was personable, quick to respond, and very professional.
The restaurant is not large, which meant it was fairly quiet even when it started to fill up. When we're back in St John's we will definitely be visiting again.
Nice and cozy on a Sunday morning. Outdoor patio looked nice but it was wet from rain. Our server was excellent. Located on water street, the Main Street of St. John’s. Ordered squid and mussels and a small salad. Squid was tender and not overcooked, the dipping sauce could use more flavour, the salad was delicious (perhaps order the dressing on the side), and the mussels had a delicious wine broth. Coffee was good too.
Friendly, comfortable and down home service, even as it offers an upscale dining experience. It can be elegant or casual, but the food is the star, I think it may have been the best tenderloin I've ever had! The menu changes, so call to be sure you're getting what you want, but everything that I had was outstanding! Patio is going up right now, can't wait to go back!
Good and service was fantastic!! Highly recommend the balsamic chicken fettuccini. The specials they had on the night we went were fantastic as well! Love the atmosphere, it’s small, dark and cozy.
Ordered the Newfoundland Cod and Balsamic Chicken Fettuccine. Tried to order the Crispy Cod Tongues but they were out which was disappointing. The cod was good and the taste of Dijon strong. The fettuccine was very good. Some additional goat cheese would have been nice as it went very well with the sauce. Service was average. Didn't get any mention of the specials and didn't mention any on the menu. The atmosphere was a little eclectic with a mixture of wall covering and ceiling styling. Overall good food with service that didn't quite match up.
Just stopped in for a late night snack, we were the only ones there. It was perfect. The food was awesome, staff were great. It's our favorite place to eat in St. John's.
Stopped for lunch. I was in the mood for mussels. They were very tasty in a basic broth. The only thing I would say is that if you're in the mood for a super flavorful garlic heavy or cream based sauce, this would not be the place to go.
The staff were fabulous and the food the same. Seafood platter is gluten-free and a full sized portion with a great representation of tiger shrimp, mussels, scallops and cod. My dinner mates raved about the leek and potato soup, steak, calamari and jambalaya. The heated brownie for dessert was the best my tablemates have ever had. A delicious meal in a great atmosphere with fabulous staff. We will be back.
This was by far the best meal we had in St. John’s. We had the seafood chowder and seared scallops as appetizers then shared a seafood platter between two of us.
