Review Pho Dau Bo - St. Catharines

Great food. Authentic Vietnamese Food. Lots of parking. Spacious inside. Staff are nice. Serving is big. A little bit pricey but it's ok. Our family love to eat here. Spring roll is so crunchy. The pho is tasty. Would like to visit here again.

I love this restaurant for the amazing Pho and the Deep fried egg rolls are outstanding. It is my sons favourite spot to go to so he can slurp the noodles. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the food is always consistent.

Went here for dinner Great quality of foods and service Pho was served quickly so that I didn’t have to wait for a long time 👍 Good place to visit for a nice and warm dinner.

I have visited this restaurant several times with different friends. I like their durian milk shake, so fresh, feels like eating fresh durian. Pho is ok just like other Vietnamese restaurants, no big difference. I just don't like the lady's attitude. Once we paid our bill, she said "next" immediately without saying "have a nice day" or "thank you". We wouldn't stay long time in front of your counter. Lady, give your customer sometime to take the receipt!

Eating here once with my friends and had the worst experience ever. We came around lunch time and the restaurant was not busy. There was 4 of us, 2 ordered pho noodles soup, other 2 order rice and fried noodles. 2 dishes came out first. 10 mins later, when 2 friends almost finished their food, they brought out the rest of order. The server looks like they did not want to serve patrons. The food was not even that good. I do not understand why they have such good reviews? Don't waste your time here. For the price, i expect amazing food and great service, so far they've shown none of that. I don't think i'll ever come back.

It is much expensive than before..and it is tastes different.i thought we will have the better choice at the same price.

Very polite, clean and friendly environment. The food was fantastic and we'll portioned. Great value and tasty dishes.

Been here a few times and each time the experience is still the same. Food is good in quality and portion size for the price but it's the customer service that's really awful. They seem to be selective on who they greet politely and who they don't.
The lady at the front is very rude and not polite at all.
Always an extremely satisfying meal. This is my second time here, this time with my Mom. We each had pho, mine with beef and hers with seafood. We each got a large which was way too much for either of us to finish. I wonder how big the XL is and who can actually finish it? Both of us loved our soup and we really appreciated the variety of condiments at our table. I had a mint chocolate bubble tea, and she had a coconut milkshake. Both delicious, but best as a dessert. The green tea that's brought when you sit down is perfect - no bitterness at all. The flavours of the soup meld wonderfully together. The fresh thai basil and bean sprouts are another wonderful touch. You definitely get more value than you'd expect for the $9 and change before tax each of our bowls cost. We left there full and very satisfied. The staff was also super friendly and efficient. Excellent meal. Excellent Price. Excellent Atmosphere.

Stopped by on a road trip. Great place for a quick bite.

Pro
- I really enjoyed the pho.
- Spring rolls is crispy.
- coconut slushy is good.
- service is excellent.

Con
- I can't really think of any!

It seems to be very popular in the Niagara/St.Catharines region, I went there with my uncle, but I wasn't too impressed. I don't know what it is exactly, maybe the wrong time of day or bottom of the pot, but the smell/taste of tendon and tripe was really strong, my uncle had no problem with it, but as someone who eats alot of pho throughout my lifetime, it was red flag. Went there once, but never returned, on the other hand the service and parking and washrooms were clean.

I was travelling in Vietnam for 2 months in May and June and this is the best pho I have had since being back home in Canada. So happy to live close by!
It's pretty good pho - though I'd like something with a deeper fuller broth - this one is a bit light. While it's not the best I've ever had - I think it's pretty darn good - and awesome quick take out too - good in the restaurant and to take out!

Really good Pho, I got addicted in Vancouver when visiting the Tai Pho is to die for,, and the spring rolls are fresh and, delish' I want to go, get some...right now...

Yum. I love this place. It was my choice for Mother's Day this year. It's so nice to find somewhere that serves good food without having to pile on fries to fill up an otherwise dull plate. The fresh spring rolls are delicious and the bowl of pho is tasty and serving size makes it a really economical meal. You would normally pay same or more for an appetizer size serving elsewhere. I haven't tried the sandwich menu but I am told they are equally well done. I have yet to experience the service issues some have commented on. The service is simple and efficient but I personally find over eager wait staff to be intrusive so this suits me fine. I will def. keep coming back

The Worst Service in the city!. The food wasn't that good but the service was Horrible! After the food came our waitress never came back. I had to go up front and ask for my bill. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I'd say go to Spicy Thai instead, better food and service.

Consistently delicious. I've been a regular customer at this restaurant for years and not once have I been disappointed. I recently invited a friend of mine to try Vietnamese food for the first time. He was a little leery but then blown away by how delicious and wholesome the food was at this great eatery. I'm obviously not alone in thinking so since you will always find the place very busy.
guess where I'm going tonight? :)

This is an amazing Restaraunt. The service is awesome. It's as if they know you are coming as you never have to wait long for your food.

Worst Pho EVER !!! Waste of money!!!!. I've been to a lot of Pho restaurants, and this place/Location has to be the absolute worst!! Sad part is I have been to many other locations of Pho Dau Bo, from Brampton, Kitchener, Stoney creek and in Toronto. ST Catharine location is bad!!
I will NEVER eat there again nor will I give this location any recommendations.. Ever the tea that is server at all Pho restaurants was just hot dirty water...
The owner at this location owes me my money back!!!!!!
Looking for a new Pho restaurant
Arianna
This place is comfort food central. there is nothing like a bowl of pho with rare beef, a cup of hot jasmine tea and a lot of spice. it gets me through the dark winter and hot summer. love it.

Regular customer. I have been going to Pho Dau Bo from day one, twice a week. The food is always fresh, the price is reasonable, and the service is friendly.Keep up the good work.

Pho Dau Bo is great!! Good food fast and cheap...Don't be fooled with the other reviews about their service, this type of style of service for pho restaurants are typical in Toronto you basically eat and get out, fast and simple is what they want. Your there for great food not the service. You want service go to your typical high end restaurants. This is a vietnamese diner. Great stuff.

Fresh ingredients and friendly helpful service makes this a great place to eat. Try the platter with the rice paper to make your own salad rolls.

Soupnazi. I eat there all the time. Food is good. Servers and manager the worst. Ordered two soups to go. they put it in one bag, I asked for another bag to separate the soups. they wer very hot. Anyway they refused to give me another bag and said they package it like all the time. In the car on the way home the lid of the broth melted. It did not tip over. Both soups ruined as well as my car seat. Phone and just got yelled at. I was told no body had every complained before. Left me on hold for 15 minutes to get manager. Told he would call me back. Never did. Food good, but will not go back. Rude, rude, rude.

Service is absolutely terrible. Food here is pretty good ... they have the WORST servers I have ever come across. I come to your business and you treat me like a burden? WTF, I've been here many times and always tip 15-20% ... excuse me, I USED to tip 15-20% ... now, NOTHING, buncha jerks. If you want good food and excellent service go to Naysa Fusion, it's pretty close to Pho, the service is top notch, and the food is awesome. If you want to deal with a buncha assclowns then definitely go to Pho, it's servers are all a bunch of inconsiderate lowlifes.

Good Soup. Soup at Pho Dau is very good...spring rolls are killer I agree with another reviewer...yum.....if u ever go to Edmonton...check out King Noodle House on 97 St in Chinatown.....chow
Foodieprincess
Recently added a vegetarian pho which is usually really good. Service can be hit or miss. It is getting better with an English fluent waitress. There could been some improvement on a tables food being served at the same time and no with 20 minutes between phos and other guests entrees.

It is the one of my favourite restaurant in town. Like always, the food is great great, the spicy sause is awesome. However, the waitress is absolutely the worst in town, at least i thought so. They are rude, and talk about the customers all the time. I always leave 15% tips, but the tips are only for the food and the chef. Never for the service. Over all, definitely worth to try the food, by the way the price is reasonable.

Great Food AWFUL WAITRESS. My hubby and I are regular customers in this place, food is good and cheap! HOWEVER,all the waitresses there are RUDE! and I Mean RUDE! they never say Thank you, they seem so grumpy all the time! This place would have more people if the waitresses were more friendly.... On one occasion we went there and one of them served our rolls and she just threw them on the table for us, she never said sorry or anything I was like how rude! they look annoyed when they see you... however I will still go there cuz I love their soups! and number 452 are the best!!! TOO BAD SERVERS ARE NOT GREAT!

MMmm Noodle Soup!!. Best Vietnamese around! Great value! There is nothing like a bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup on a cold day or when you are feeling run down. Service is awful- however the food is so good that it somehow does not deter me from coming back again and again.

I come to this place quite a few times and the pho is great, service was fast and prices are great. However some of there other dishes such as the steamed rice dishes are not very good, it seemed like they generally are not ordered as often as the soup and therefore the meat tastes old not fresh. I recommend only pho
Munchies
Definitely not authentic Vietnamese food! I've eaten at the other Pho Dau Bo chains and they are 10x better than this place! Too much noodle, not enough broth! Service is rude and always talking about customers (I can understand Vietnamese) and the bubble tea is disgusting! Not going back here ever!
BigTreeEatingBear
Pho Dau Bo!. Authentic dishes and generous servings in a place with very few Asian restaurants

You'll be a Regular. For over the 5 years I've been a regular, I've never had a problem. REALLY great prices for delicious and FILLING meals. There's quite a large variety making it easy to find a favourite. If you want a meal guaranteed to satisfy, try one of their pho soups. They're open real late for when my family gets cravings. The only downside is the service, not friendly but their great food is hard to beat.

The food is wonderful.. Reasonably Priced, but unfortunately the service is no good , I'm a regular I go 2 times a week , order the same thing and yet I always ask for extra limes or water and they never give it, even when it's dead .. If it's busy that's an exception and I'll just go up and ask the girl who sits behind the bar and does NOTHiNG ( the owners daughter ) and shell give it , but isn't that a servers job ?? Respond to what your customers ask for ? Ridiculous. On another note, they NEVER say your welcome or thank you? They take your plate away and usually you would say no problem or thank you, ( I'm a server, so I know these things ) and also they Blaintly speak Vietnamese so loud so No one can understand, how rude is that ? We finally complained to one of the rude little servers ( black short hair, vietnamese ) and she SMIRKED, laughed and was completely sarcastic about it. Either way the servers need a wake up call and learn how to be around Canadian customers .

Like not Love. It's like this with Pho Dau Bo: So far I really like their soups. I've had Wonton and pho-something, but generally I like to order Bun, and ...I HATE their noodles. They are not like any kind of vermicelli I have ever had. They are the size of spaghetti noodles. Not cool.

The wine list is surprisingly awesome. They serve very good local wines by the glass (Ravine and Lailey) for cheaper than you can get them at the winery!?

The service was kind of strange last time. The server was handing me things to stock in the caddies on the table, when her path was clearly unobstructed. Just something as a server I would never, ever do. And she tried to wipe off sticky spots on the "clean" table with a dry paper napkin until I was like, "Um, that won't work." Whatevs. We will be back.

I love pho and i have tried pretty much every vietnamiesse reasturant...pho dau bo has the best for both taste and value...altho the service is a quite impersonal some might prefer this but even with that in mind you can find me there 2-3 times a week
Gastronomade
Awesome Pho, great friendly service and the price is crazy affordable for what you get.

Best Vietnamese in the Region. Pho Dau Bo is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the region hands down. I'm not crazy about the not-so-local, however small chain but the food is just too good to deny. I love Mai Vi and the Second Bowl in NF isn't too bad but the Pho at Pho Dau Bo is just better. The fresh spring rolls are delicious and come with 2 dipping sauces (which I love cause I add Siracha to mine). The Pho (I get the rare beef and beef balls) is far superior in taste to the aforementioned establishments, the amount of broth is more, there are many more beef balls and the best is that the beef is much less fatty for some reason (every time!). They give you free Jasmine tea to start so for 2 people with apps, it's under $20!!!! If you haven't been here, go. That's it, just go!

Cheap and delicious! Mmmm spring rolls.

If you have a taste for good and freshly made vietnamese food this is the place to be..i recommend people who hasn't tried or who wants to try new foods!

Love it!. If you have never eaten here, it is well worth a try! I order the noodle soup (pho) with rare beef and the beef is so thinly cut it cooks in the broth. You are given bean sprouts, herbs, lime, and an assortment of sauces to go into the soup. Once you have doctored it up it is so yummy!
The spring rolls are to die for....best spring rolls in town!
The price is right, very cheap meal and very filling!

The Greatest Noodle Soup. If it's a comfort food that you're looking for...what better than a bowl of Pho Dau Bo's famous noodle soup...fantastic

Great Cheap Dinner. Pho Dau Bo is a great chain. Of course the noodle soups are outstanding, but so are some of the other kitchen dishes. So happy to see Pho Dau Bo in St. Catherines!

Spot on. My friend and I would travel to Toronto in the days before Vietnamese food came to Niagara. Just for Pho. So imagine how happy I was when Pho Dau Bo opened here. I'd had some Pho at other places that had opened here, but Pho Dau Bo gets it spot on. Their Pho is perfect, and the selection of condiments is exactly what I'd expect to get in Toronto.

For less than $12, two people can eat until full. Appetizers are equally inexpensive, and there is ample seating for a large group.
