Review The Yellow Pear - St. Catharines

Hands down, the best, most creative and consistent restaurant in all of Niagara. I’ve eaten here almost every weekend since I first tried them, and cannot get enough. Always thinking of the most amazing food combos. Try EVERYTHING, don’t shy away from a single menu item. Never a miss. Go for the true yellow pear experience and let them guide your pallet through pure ecstasy. Shout out to the owner and the chef, the two of them combined make a RIDICULOUS menu. Ever changing menu and spectacular. I would list my favourite menu items but you might as well just read it.

Great food, but the service will make you feel like you're a burden. I tried the Pork Belly Benny and Barbacoa Skillet, with a slight preference for the latter as the Benny was a tad too sweet from the cornbread. Both dishes were interesting and inventive, though. Unfortunately, the server wasn't great. She felt very cold throughout. She handed me a water with a speck of what seemed to be fibres from a sponge (see pic) - no big deal but rather than act on my request for a new water, she took her time, even making a couple trips to neighbouring tables to clean them. And after asking for a box to pack our extra food, she literally just walked away without saying anything - at least she ended up bringing a box, I guess?

UNBELIEVABLE! And FANTASTIC! For some reason this week I was on a Canadian binge...yesterday I realized I missed National Caesar Day (thanks Cowtown!) a few weeks back so I fixed that...responsibly of course. Today I was pining for a good salmon dinner...and a legit vodka paralyzer (thanks Winterpeg!). Who knew you'd find such treasures out here in Niagara wine country? After getting a righteous paralyzer I ordered Yellow Pear's pierogi gnocchi... this appi is a game changer (Go Flames!) ... WOW! This is one of the best starters on the planet. Hats (cowboy) off to the chef...excellent, and easy to share. I then moved on to the baked salmon. Breathtaking. I am still trying to decipher the spices because it was so good and so unique. BRAVO! And the pan fried brussels sprouts were awesome. This entire dinner was a tour du force of excellence. There should be lineups in front of Yellow Pear, I'm heading back.

My new favourite brunch place. Everything was amazing; the food, the service, the atmosphere. We ordered the lobster eggs Benny and the brisket eggs Benny and they were beyond fabulous. Everything was well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were perfect and super filling. Both our meals came with home fries , which was paired with a smoked apple ketchup and when I tell you this food tastes like heaven, believe me. This was the most delicious meal I've had in a very long time. You can tell how much love and attention goes into their food. 10/10 recommend, we can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Nicole and Jason catered my son's wedding in June, a long awaited celebration due to Covid. My daughter-in-law somehow found The Yellow Pear, and then the gastronomic story begins!! Oh my goodness, the talent and expertise Nicole and Jason have is over-the-top crazy! Our venue was at a winery in Niagara-on-the-lake, with little to no kitchen available to them. They somehow prepared a masterpiece for over 90 guests out of their food truck!! The knowledge Nicole had regarding food preparation for this event was staggering. The food was sensational, everything from the appies, to the fresh salads to the extraordinary mains. Mouth-watering and served family style which made so much sense! We also had the opportunity to visit their restaurant in St Catherine's for a food-tasting before the wedding. All I can say is I can't wait to have the opportunity to go again, and encourage everyone who reads this review, to go to The Yellow Pear as quickly as possible!! Thank you so much Nicole & Jason!

These guys need some recognition for what they do. My second time having their food and it was so so good. Everything about it was perfect. The taste, the texture, honestly they really go out of their way to make a good dish. Thanks Yellow Pear, you deserve more stars then they let me give.

The most delicious birthday dinner for my dad’s birthday. Incredibly accommodating for my 2 year old. Really could not have had a better dinner and we cant pinpoint a favourite dish. Everything was phenomenal.

These guys have something special going on here! The menu is forever evolving and executed to absolute perfection. The owner and chef have managed to create something that no one in Niagara can even come close to. At a loss for words to describe this place. Phenomenal!!!
