Even though I now live in Quebec, Rise Above keeps me coming back to Niagara to enjoy all my delicious favourites and the chance to sample new seasonal items.
The staff is incredible, from the thoughtful management to the attention to detail from the kitchen staff to the professional service from the wait staff. The atmosphere at Rise Above is cozy, heart warming and fresh and the special events put this location on the map.
Highly recommend!
We were in Niagara Falls for the week and wanted something away from the carnival-like tourist traps, so we explored St. Catharines and found Rise Above. Neither of us live vegan but the menu sounded interesting and we were amazed. I had the sweet potato and black bean burger and my love tried the lasagna, and both were phenomenal!! Great place with attentive and sweet staff. Seriously recommend the burger, it was delicious! If ever we are in the area again, we would definitely return.
Rise above is a lovely place to go and enjoy delicious food and treats. There is good energy there because the people who work there care about one another and the resources they offer. I have enjoyed watching the restaurant change and grow over the past few years and I continue to recommend it as my favorite place to go on a rainy day to eat killer soup, people watch and listen to music.
I have loved every dish I have been served here. Every time I eat here I get excited about coming back again so that I can try a new dish. Delicious!!! Would recommend to any vegan or nonvegan looking for something new and delicious.
Delicious vegan food with large portions & a decent/realistic children's menu. Totally loved the seitan nuggets & would eat those all day long! Restaurant was very busy but staff were friendly and efficient.
The food was so delicious -the ambulance is very nice and the staff are friendly
Lots of great menu items and they tasted great. I’m not vegan but this restaurant was amazing for food. We came in from the Toronto area and our friends loved it too. We were actually out for dinner in Nagra on the lake but ended up coming here great stuff
Only been twice but both times had amazing food, especially last night. I ordered the apple grill cheese and was so delicious! The service was great as well. I will always recommend this place and will keep coming back.
Can't say enough good things about this place. From the service to the actual food, impeccable. Extremely nice surprise as we were just passing by Ste-Catherines. Considering going back every once in a while to the town, just to go to Rise Above again. Every dish we tried (and we tried several) were delicious!
I've eaten here enough times now that I can reliably say the food and service are always excellent. So many amazing preparations and innovative dishes. You will not be disappointed!
Fantastic vegan food! If I was local I would certainly be a regular and we'll be back on our next trip to Ontario. I had the seitan buffalo wings and the falafel bowl, but I thought everything on the menu looked great. I was amazed at how large the portions were. I definitely left very full. We came in on a Wednesday for lunch without a reservation. It was a little busy, but we were seated right away and the service was quick.
Absolutely amazing! Best Vegan meal I've ever tasted! I'm from out of town and will recommend Rise Above to my to my friends! I'll be back!
Had a wonderful lunch at Rise Above. It was very busy, so I was very happy we had a reservation!
Great ambience, great art, and really good food. I had the panko crusted eggplant, it was fabulous. The tomato sauce was fresh and the nut mozzerella cheese was amazing.
Best of all, it was wonderful to know no creature suffered so that I could have a great lunch.
Prices are great too!!
I love this place! I have never been disappointed and it's my go to place when I want to have an amazing dinner experience.

Another great meal today!!! Love the new menu, a nice wine selection and we can't forget the desserts. Pleasant staff also. We'll be back soon. :)
Honestly they do best vegan wings we got sriracha lime they had the perfect amount of flavour and great texture & although they were deep fried they we not excessively oily. The mushroom caps were also a banger because they are able to make a great vegan pesto with all the flavour that’s nice & smooth. The beet salad also great. And the gnocchi although slightly mushy was made with really good ingredients (leeks, asparagus, peas). They have lots of drink options too only regret is that there was no room for dessert which just means we will be back. I also appreciated that our server although the only one working was still attentive and checked in throughout our meal. Highly recommend this place for very clean & delicious v food which I’m sure anyone would enjoy regardless if their diet.
I went here for lunch about a week ago and it was a great experience! The food is all vegan and there are a ton of gluten free options. The food was really good. I was blown away by how delicious, creative, and light the meals were. The only down side was the potato leek soup which was a bit bland. The owner was wonderful and it was a great experience. I am not vegan myself, but I would come back here again just because I enjoy the food.
MUST GO for vegans visiting Niagara Falls or the area. They were out of the mushroom appetizer when we went, so we got the seitan wings instead, and I'm so glad we did- they were some of the best vegan wings I've had, the maple garlic sauce was incredible. The mac and cheese was also very comforting and exactly what we wanted. I try to find vegan restaurants when I'm travelling and this is definitely one of my favorites and can't wait to come back to the area and go again.
Savory vegan comfort food. Wow, was it surprising to try these dishes knowing they were entirely meat and dairy-free!
The restaurant is doing outdoor seating so they were busy at the time, we got reservations.
The staff is nice and accommodating, would get some good vegan dishes here :)
On my only day off from the grueling federal campaign, I had my sights set on Rise above for a few days. In the week leading up, I had explored some of the nearby vegan establishments on the Happy Cow app. I was delighted to discover the litany of plant-based options in the Hamilton area. It had seemed that Hamilton was perhaps in fact the vegan mecca of the golden Horseshoe. I did extensive research and was ultimately impressed by the offering of a plant-based substitute for the infamous wing.
When the day finally came, I embarked on my journey in midafternoon. Being in dispossession of any motorized vehicle, the weather cooperated as I rode my bicycle 20 kilometres from my house at the top of Brant Street in Burlington. The entire journey a pedaled with a smile across my face, thinking about the delicious food I was going to have. I arrived minutes before they officially opened and was redeemed immediately. In all my years I have eaten countless vegan pizzas and vegan burgers, but the vegan wing had until this point escaped me. I ordered one order of seitan wings and waited outside while I read my book.
By the time my food arrived, my previous thoughts were confirmed. There is simply nothing that plant-based can not do better than it’s animal counterpart. The seitan wings were delectable. I decided to follow up with a slice of Pizza. Again, I was reminded of the glorious future that awaits all of us, as we transition our food system to be wholly plant derived. For a moment I glanced around and realized that this had been the peak of my life, culminating over 26 years. The best part about that realization, was understanding that it will only get better. I have lived 26 years before I encountered seitan wings. Now I get to live an eternity with them.
I returned home that day with a profound sense of belonging.
A few weeks later there had been a mixup, where I was bestowed the custody of my sister’s CRV for one evening. Having ridden there by bicycle, I knew the way and travelled the same distance in a fraction of the time. I once again indulged in Seitan wings, Garlic bread and a slice of pizza. I have since been counting the days until I can return.
