Review The Diner House 29 - St. Catharines

Was a bit nervous when we pulled up to the location but boy oh boy did that turn around when I read the menu. Everything sounded absolutely delicious but I went with the brisket special. Service was fantastic and our waitress did a great job of telling us about each dish. Home made jams were stellar! Will definitely be back to try everything else!

Very pleased to enjoy brunch at The Diner House. Creative and delicious menu. We had the pork mess and the beef taco bowl. Excellent service and retro decor. Super clean!

Creative menu. You never had these dishes before. Execution is excellent. everything is fresh. Many things are house made like jams and bread. Menu rotates regularly. Service is excellent, and they are passionate about what they do.

Literally one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Not only is the food delicious, creative and portioned very well, the customer service is top notch. My coffee cup was never empty, the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Remember to try the variety of homemade hot sauces and jams. Well done!

A hidden gem tucked away in a location you probably have never noticed! Diner House 29 is a phenomenal place for breakfast with some unique menu options (deep fried eggs!). This is one of my favourite breakfast spots in town and I feel not enough people know about it!

Their bread is baked in house and they use real butter! Bacon and eggs were great, potato’s are real potatoes- not normally my favourite as I love cubed hashbrown’s but they were delicious. Great selection of house made hot Sauces, overall very good and would absolutely be back! Edit: We have been back multiple times and it’s still great!

Do yourself a favor and pop in here. Amazing service from Teisha who waited on us and the other person too. Had a mind blowing deep dish pancake filled with jam and topped with coconut and other goodies sweetened just perfectly. Picked up some pineapple & jalapeño jam for later. One of the nicest breakfast spots I've been to that I'll always remember. The fact I saw bowls on the wall my family owned was fun too.

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous brunch here yesterday, after he searched online for best breakfast places in Niagara. The outside is unassuming, as it is part of a little strip mall, but inside is like stepping back into my childhood kitchen! 1960s/70s furniture in excellent condition, Corelle dishes that my mom had and a wonderful display of coloured dishes, signs, even an old stove on display! Oh and the food was amazing! The menu has your typical breakfast items, but also includes some unique concoctions! I had a difficult time deciding, but fortunately the coffee was good and attentive service meant my cup was never empty. My non-vegetarian husband ordered the Sweet Potato Bean Chili that came with 2 sunny side up eggs on top, with sour cream and tortilla chips and was the perfect spice and heat level (sorry, I missed the photo op!) A side order of potatoes rounded out his meal. I ordered the Grilled Steak & Eggs Salad. OMG it was fabulous!!! St. Catharines meet Asia! Marinated, then grilled and sliced flat iron steak, loads of baby kale and veggies, grains, rice noodles, peanuts, cilantro, sesame-ginger dressing and quartered soft-boiled eggs decorating the edge of the bowl. Even though the frigid outdoor temperature was influencing a hot meal, this was outstanding and hit the spot. Afterwards I felt fantastic and the flavour left in my mouth was incredible! Definitely recommend this restaurant. Family-owned and run, innovative dishes, great service and reasonably priced.

Visited for the first time this week and totally fell for the adorable retro kitsch decor and eclectic menu that combines traditional breakfast fare with a fun hipster - esque vibe. I had the crustless shitake mushroom/spinach/feta quiche with great hash browns and a full size honey garlic sausage link. Not only was the food the best restaurant breakfast food (possibly ever)but the plating really elevated the whole dish. I haven't been anywhere else in Niagara that takes the care to artfully present breakfast the way you would expect lunch or dinner in an arty upscale place. Very cool.

I brought my friend here for her birthday breakfast and what a feast! We both ordered the pecan-cranberry French Toast, with dried cranberries, slivered apples, whipped cream and exquisite shards of walnut brittle -- AND it came with maple bacon! Usually I get that sugar bubble in my throat after eating French Toast or waffles with syrup, but this was the most amazing gastronomical experience! I devoured the whole plate, and did not feel bloated, but just enjoyed all the tastes and textures ricocheting off my tongue and palate. The pecan-cranberry bread is made in-house, sliced thick, and bathed in an egg wash. Perfectly cooked! The slivered apples piled on top gave that fresh crunch to the warm eggy bread, and then came the walnut brittle to make me feel like I was eating dessert for breakfast! So sinful but sooo good!

Breakfast Done Right! Start to finish the food and service was just fantastic! Not your typical egg and bacon menu (although you can order just that). Unique, fresh, mouth bursting with flavor ingredients that you wouldn't expect on a breakfast menu! Must Try: (The Son-in-Law- 2 Fried-Poached Eggs on Basmati Rice with Tamarind Sauce, Crispy Onions, Cashews, Red Peppers, Spicy Pickled Chilies & Cilantro) or (Creamsicle® French Toast Vanilla Orange Bread with Orange Pudding, Vanilla Mascarpone, Marmalade Syrup, Cookie Crumble & Clementines). This is for sure a MUST TRY!

My new favorite breakfast place, hands down. Food is truly amazing. Not your typical breakfast menu, which I love. It seems that just about everything is from scratch and is done so, so well. I went this morning and cannot stop thinking about my meal (Iron rice bowl... omg!!). Go here, you will not regret it!!

We absolutely loved our breakfast at Diner House 29! The best French toast of my life, made with a homemade Nutella-swirl loaf and topped with strawberry cream cheese, blueberry compote, and fresh cream. My husband had an amazing quiche topped with a maple bacon jam, served with fresh bread, sausage, and perfect potatoes. Our two toddler boys were also made very welcome and LOVED it there: my youngest cried when we had to go and my oldest talked nonstop about how all the servers there were "such good ladies!" We'll definitely be back.

Diner House is the BEST breakfast place, by far! Since Hsin brought me here I have not gone anywhere else. The food is spectacular, the retro diner feel is perfection and of course the staff are impeccable! :)

We stopped by for the first time today and were blown away by how delicious the food was! We had items off the "brunch-ish" menu and it was great! The service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. It was also fantastic to have such quality vegetarian options. We will definitely be visiting again.
