Lunch at this local restaurant. Parking is a bit of a frustration but we find a spot after circling the building for a few minutes. We are greater by a friendly hostess that seats us immediately. Restaurant is nicely decorated for the Christmas season. Our waitress arrives quickly and takes our drink order. She is also knowledgeable and quick to answer all our allergy questions about items on the menu. We order potato and leak soup, sea food gumbo, and mandarins and cranberry salads for lunch. Soups are hot, rich and full of flavor, great start to our lunch. Followed by a mandarins and cranberry salad. Salad is crisp and full of flavor. We order a flourless chocolate cake for dessert. It arrives warm, presented nicely with a pile of real whip cream not an editable oil product. Flavor were great throughout our meal and so was the service.

This is my go-to place when taking out friends or family in St Albert. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The portions are large. The Cajun House Combination Plate contains a few of the best things on their menu for a really good price. Also, their dessert menu is among the best in the city.
Have been coming here for years and can easily say the best Cajun food in Edmonton Area. Although I feel it may lack some authenticity (Pasta substitutions) I still love everything about the place. The service is outstanding, as most St. Albert restaurants seem to be. Must try are Chicken Monroe and the white chocolate cheesecake (trust me you haven’t had it before).
My husband and I looooove this place. It is an older crowd and the atmosphere is not really my vibe but the food is next level. It reminds me of a wholesome home made dinner! They have a great wine selection too. The real amazing part is the white chocolate baked cheesecake.... it is probably the most delicious dessert I have had.
Well that was a picture perfect lunch.... a damn good oyster po’boy with a tremendously tasty chicken sausage gumbo.....great service...i would certainly do that again!!!!!
Came here for lunch but was not super hungry so I ordered the muffaletta sandwich with a cup of chicken & sausage gumbo. The sandwich was awesome bread was super soft with beautiful meats, Genoa salami & Italian ham, provolone cheese & olive tapenade. The gumbo was also delicious with so heat & lots of flavor I also got the Louisiana Alligator Boudin had a nice flavor but the texture of the sausage I was not a fan of had a grainy mouthfeel. All in all I would definitely like to come back to try some other dishes.
One of the few restaurants I consistently recommend to others. Service is fast and friendly and the food every time I've been was great. I really like their mimosa salad, although they tend to be a little heavy handed on the dressing. This place is usually pretty busy, so it's in your best interests to make reservations.
Best spot in town. Always a great meal at great prices. Best Cajun spot I've ever been to. Gotta try the mussels. Owners work the floor and kitchen making sure everything is always just right.
My "Foodie Group" recently had a meet up at The Cajun House. This had been on my short list for awhile as a friend had been raving about it. So I was happy to head out to St. Albert on a Saturday to meet up with the group - and I was glad that I did! The food and drinks here are reasonably priced with generous portions.
We went to the Cajun House for our first time just fews days ago...The atmosphere was nice & relaxing the food was awesome and the service was great...I highly recommend this place and we will definetly be going back again.
The white chocolate cheesecake dessert is mainly the reason why we keep coming back here. This time we ordered cajun house combination plate which is good and grilled crab cake with pasta, the latter is not worth trying as you can taste the crabcake full of flour and pasta was dry and bland. Other than that, service was great.
Amazing. Interesting at home style atmosphere but the food was unreal. Friendly wait staff & overall great experience. Will definitely be going back very soon!
It was very meh. Not bad...not sure awesome, but good portion sizes and fills the tummy.
My husband and I went to The Cajun House on a recommendation. The food was excellent. It was flavorful and portions were huge. Server was really good and very helpful. We will definitely be back to this gem of a restaurant.
Yum!. Went here for dinner. Had the seafood gumbo to start, then the chicken Monroe (petite size) All I can say is wow. So awesome.. Our server was really great and friendly as well. They also have a really great tea selection (local company makes it) I would have to say I will for sure be back. Except this time hands down all I am eating is the seafood gumbo. Also shared a white chocolate cheese cake for desert. Excellent. Hands down kicks Louisiana Purchases @$$!!!!
Service was ok: hostess freaked out when we said we didn't have a reservation, yet less than half the tables in use/reserved. Several wait and bar staff standing around at the bar who were nit watching the customers, so took a while to get someone's attention. Decor is confusing, looks like a family steakhouse more than a sourhern style restaurant. However, the food was amazing! Steaming hot, fresh and generous portioned. Had the alligator sausage as a starter and seafood jambalaya as the main. Tons if seafoid, great flavour, hot but not overcooked. I had enough to eat, plus enough for 3 more meals!
Was with a large group - ALL the food choices were excellent. fabulous waitress-not one thing went wrong! Fantastic seafood, steak, along with very reasonable prices!
Great Dinner Spot for a Saturday night. Snuck in with a last minute reservation for the two of us, the restaurant was very full but didn't seem overly crowded. A nice ambiance and friendly staff made this experience a great one and the food took it over the top with turning a great one into a wonderful one! Also they make the best long island iced teas ever.
We had the scallops to start which were ok, I probably wouldn't get them again however our main dishes were to die for! My husband had the salmon and it was spiced to perfection (it was a special), perfectly cooked and had amazing flavour. I had the crab cakes and they were magnificent, crisp on the outside while soft and rich on the inside.
We will most definitely be back! They seem to even cater to groups which I thought was notable.

Have been coming here for years. I always get the Chicken Monroe with pasta. And I order the full size. And I somehow manage to eat the whole thing. The full sized portion is way too much for me to eat normally, but it's so delicious that I can't resist! Fabulous staff and the food never disappoints.

Very good!. The food here may be overpriced, but it is worth it!! The coconut shrimp was spectacular! The steak sandwich, jambalaya and po-boy sandwhiches have never failed to amaze me! Very well done! Only problem is the service is slow, but they make up for it with being extremley friendly!
Fantastic. Really enjoyed the Louisiana jambalaya. The peppers were bursting with flavor. Definitely enjoyed my 1st visit.
Good,Clean Cajun. Last nights dinner experience here was a multiple-star memory.. excellent ambiance, fabulous and timely service. Best boullabaise I've had east of France! The collection of sea offerings were all delicately cooked in optimum time, in a light and sweet saffron broth. My husband however was at first unimpressed by the Cjun platter- fortunately we took home the unfinished portion and absolutely enjoyed the dish, reheated the nest day. a super place to meet up with friends, and I found the prices to be unexpectedly reasonable. A fantastic testament to St. Albert and its quality of life!
Pricey yet Tastie. Never had a bad meal at The Cajun House....but find it a little pricey for what they do serve up.
Celebration Meal Well Done!!. We went with a large group (15 adults +3 toddlers) our server was exceptional, handled the drinks and meal service with great professionalism.
Everyone enjoyed their meals and some took advantage of the shrimp festival that is on this month. All parts of the menu had selections made from it and no complaints were heard, myself I had the tenderloin with cajun shrimp and rice very well prepared and tasty! We had a wait of about 45 minutes from when drinks were order until the meals were severed, when considering the size of our group and that all meals come out hot this a job well done. The Kitchen and wait staff are are to be highly commended.
The evening went by without a hitch, a great evening thanks to the Cajun House!!
Favorite restraunt. I and my family have been going to the Cajun House for at least a decade. It is consistently good.
Telling is the number of staff that have been there for many, many years. It's nice to see a familiar face, and the prices I find are very reasonable.
BTW, they have a better muffletta then anything I have ate in New Orleans.
My favorite around St.Albert. This is the place where I often bring friends, because so many people are unaware of it. Yes, it is part of an office building, but you'd never be able to tell inside.
I always start out with the Louisiana Shrimp Bisque; it's absolutely delicious. I'd also recommend the caesar salad. As far as entrees go, it really depends on what you enjoy eating the most; they have something for everybody. I personally enjoy the Filet Mignon Ya-Ya. As a steak lover, it has never disappointed.
I'm hard pressed to make a complaint of any kind, but I guess the only one is really that the service is just average. The servers aren't doing anything wrong, but a more engaging attitude would always be a treat. =)
I highly recommend The Cajun House. Whenever I bring people there, they just love it.
Consistently good!! I had the pasta jambalaya last night, it was awesome. It came with a nice side of steamed veggies which is rare with a pasta dish. Coconut shrimp were yummy too! Great service and kid friendly!!
Worth the Drive.. There aren't too many reasons why I'd drive all the way out to St. Albert but this is one of them (the other reason is to go to River House Grill.)
The food is delicious as well as interesting. Everything we ordered (and of course that was a lot because we have no self-control) was very tasty!
Great place for dinner!. Really enjoyed the pasta here, I asked the Chef to make it spicy enough to make me cry, he came close but didn't succeed. Everyone enjoyed their food and the atmosphere is comfortable
In Response to " disappointed" - you are very mistaken!. We love the Cajun House and have for years! I think your experience was unfortunate however two observations of mine: when is it ever polite to ask anyone how much money they make?? Or in this case a server how much tips they received. Asking a stranger that question is certainly going catch someone off guard and perhaps uncomfortable. Also the server did not create this cake charge I'm sure the owners or managers did, so why punish her for doing her job? Secondly, you wouldn't bring your own beer to the bar
or coffee to Tim Hortons so why would you think it's acceptable to bring outside cake to a restaurant that serves
cake?? Why not have cake back at your house after diner
and not pay the charge if that's such a big deal?
That's unfortunate you say you wouldn't return, however more room for the rest of us Cajun house lovers!

Never hesitate. We have eaten here dozens of times. The service is always friendly, the food is always fantastic and the prices are more than fair. We especially like going on a snowy winter day for a $5 steaming hot bowl of fresh gumbo . Great for casual dining, business meetings or a night out. The only reason I hesitate to write such a glowing review is that I am afraid everyone will go there and they will raise their prices!
Not bad. Food is ok/good, but a bit pricey. Staff are nice but a bit slow and uninterested. If you like gumbo up north a good place to satisfy your cravings. Bring a lot of money though.

Great food, it's got a unique menu relative to other st. Albert restaurants.their deep fried white chocolate cheesecake is drizzled in raspberry sauce and is the best dessert I have had at a st. Albert restaurant.

We decided to try out the Cajun House for lunch, which I’ve heard nothing but good things about. We went there on a Tuesday and I was impressed that they are very wheelchair friendly both inside and outside the restaurant. Cajun House is a bit more upscale, so FYI, be prepared to shell out some dolla dolla bills y’all...
