Review Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - Spruce Grove

We are heading home from the Winner's, Sports Chek and Pet Store When We noticed Famoso Neapolitan Pizza is open..it is our first time to eat there. I didn't notice that the place is huge until we got inside. They are open for dine-in. The surroundings are clean. We are attended right away when we entered. Offered menu and served drinks right away...was given ample time to scan the menu. The serving of food is huge. We tried one of the Pizza and Pasta. Each item is good for two people. So what we did is We just shared. As we are waiting for our food. I noticed people coming in for food pick-up. They are in skip the dishes. And what I like most they offered a table on the corner for the skip the dishes driver to pick up the food. They are practicing covid rules. It is not busy during the time we spend there. They have a bar section that has lots of liquor and beers to choose from. We were entertained by two gentlemen, who never failed to check on us. They are both very accommodating...I will never forget my experience here. And will coming back to taste some more of their food. Highly recommended! The weather is starting to feel better I encourage people to come and see this place...have a beer or liquor of your wish. Small Italy in the heart of Spruce Grove. They are family because I lived in Spruce. My partner and I support locals all the time. And hope you do too. Famoso thank you and we salute you guys for keeping your business open even this pandemic time.;) appreciated.;)

OMG love love love this place. This is a MEATBALL sandwich someone can be proud of. Wow amazing. Tomato Bisque soup was fantastic. Service was great and super friendly. Price was reasonable. Overall a great experience.

What a great place to have a delicious meal! We tried this restaurant for the first time before it had to close for dine-in in March (due to COVID-19 lockdown) and we had an amazing time. The customer service was excellent, the meal was delicious and the drinks were great. Will definitely go back again once they reopen it.

We celebrated our 45th anniversary by a first visit to this restaurant. Fantastic. We had the Mediterranean Flat bread, cavoletti pizza followed by Tiramisu. Very nice wine! So good we will be back to try other dishes! Service is superb: following Covid-19 rules. We never felt uncomfortable at any time. Highly recommend supporting this local business.

Fantastic meal. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Friendly staff who made sure that you are well taken care of. Tasty craft beer as well. Definitely going to go back. Sorry no pictures, I ate it too fast. The salads are incredible.

First time at Famoso. Nice decor and atmosphere, reminds me of some pizzerias we visited in Manhattan. The smells in the restaurant were welcoming and the service was decent. I ordered the lasagna lunch with salad. Both were delicious. My only complaint was portion size. For $15 I didn’t expect such a small dish of lasagna. Other than that it was a pleasant experience.

Famoso in Spruce Grove- The best service I've had in a long time! Fabulous friendly welcoming! Gave the kids a hunk of pizza dough to play with while waiting for their pizzas... genius!! Food was delicious, wish I could have had a bite of everything. Highly recommend.

I go here weekly with a group of friends so the staff has become very familiar with us. They know our regular orders, they welcome us in with a friendly smile every time and they go above and beyond with service! The food is also amazing! 100% recommend going here!

It was great. The waitresses were very friendly and the food was really good. Would definitely go back. Love the atmosphere too. You must try the gelato for dessert. Very tasty!

Had a wonderful supper with my family! The server even brought pizza dough for my boys to play with while we waited for supper. We will definitely be coming back! Sophie is a fantastic server!

still my favorite place in spruce grove to eat, service is great and the food is heaven, with a few 9oz vino’s thrown in for good measure

Yum! So impressed with our visit to Famoso today in Spruce Grove! The kids adored their pizza and gelato; my husband and I loved the pizza and salad. The Caprese salad is amazing! This location is lovely and clean. We truly enjoyed our meal! We will certainly be back.

Great to have good quality food that's gluten free. Friendly service. Excellent cocktail. I'll be going back!! Lots more to try on the menu.

Very polite, professional staff. The various pizzas & meat balls were very delicious, the ice cold adult beverages on the sunny patio were just as good. And the Ginger dough boy, he sure can toss the dough. 😎

Usually always have a good experience with Famoso’s around Edmonton. The tomato bisque is really good here. Not sure how I feel about the new spicy pizza though (Il Diablo).. on the fence.. 🤔

Bloody lovely, crispy, juicy pizza.
Vesuvio is my utter favourite pizza. I fold it up like a funnel and greediness just takes over... my mouth is watering as I speak.
Great staff here. I loved the old management with Joel at the helm but the New management took over about a year ago and seem pretty good so far.
They have great cocktails and gelato to bathe in if you so wish...
Nice patio in the summer months too...

Dessert is what we stopped in for and we ordered Doci and Bananas. Service is average but friendly, table is clean, and restaurant is slow. Bananas come warm with ice cream. Banana pieces are underripe but flavors are pretty good overall

We come here for lunch quite often. The food is always good. My favorites are the Fire Roasted Tomato Bisque, Primavera Pizza, Nutella Pizza and of course the gelato!
Carly
I swear this place gets better and better every time I come here highly recommend the tomato bisque and margarita pizza with moscato wine

Finally got a chance to sit in and eat here. Must say nice atmosphere and good service. However. After tasting the Mediterranean flat bread I expected a lot from this pizza. When I got my pepperoni pizza I was very disappointed. Very little cheese. What surprised me the most was the watery tasteless under seasoned sauce they talk so highly about. Not sure that I would come back.

Awesome food, service, and promotions. My favourite pizza place in town!

Amazing pizza. Great environment.

Great pizza. Service is always awesome.

Best pizza in spruce! And has great service!
Devo And Supertramp
Been twice, both times it was awful food. The pizza was undercooked, and the pizza sauce was basically water. It was empty both times, and I think it's obvious why

Its OK but not my thing. This is more for the trendy rich people that are trying to impress each other with where they eat, Food was good, service was good, owners are awesome, just not my thing.

Mmmmm just mmmmmm. I LOVE the Primavera pizza here! sooooo tasty! The tomatoe Bisque is well worth the money!

So you're looking for a real italian pizza?. Nom. That's all I have to say. This place is delicious. If you order a pizza with a lot of toppings it's going to be soggy. Your best bet is a margherita or pistachio pesto with 1 meet/veggie topping. I always add extra mozza.
I am a picky, picky, picky restaurant goer. My fiance calls me his Gordon Ramsay, but who can blame me? Why would you pay 4x the price for something you can make faster, with better quality at home? Let me tell you, there's no making this pizza at home. this is not digiorno. Their beautiful fire roasting oven makes this a real treat.
This is not day-after munchies pizza, though, so eat it all while you're there (not that you'll need much encouragement.) or get a veggie one and eat it later that evening (no fridge).
The staff do leave something to be desired but they've never been anything but helpful and friendly to me, and they have an older crowd in there now that handles themselves better. If you're impatient go up to the front to pay (you went up there to order so I know you can do it. Don't whine.) or else take the opportunity to appreciate those with you and relax. and eat that last slice.
Either way, it's a good experience and has become my favourite spruce restaurant. How this place isn't above the nastiness that is bing's, I have no idea.

Really Good Pizza. We really like this place! The tomatoe bisque is amazing. Love the Gelato. And we cannot get enough of the spicy thai pizza!! so good!

Good food - poor service. The food at Famoso is always great, I have yet to try something that I didn't like. (Except the Gorgonzala Salad but that was my own ignorance for not realizing that Gorgonzala cheese is in face blue cheese.)

The staff here is generally high school age and I feel many of them lack service/restaurant experience.Getting your bill generally takes forever and waiting to pay is another adventure. Perhaps more staff on during rush hour?

Overall, one of the better restaurants in Spruce Grove.

Loved it, great food great gelato. Realy good pizza! Love the grilled tomato bisque! Awesome sangria.

Total letdown! Over priced and under served. Soggy gross toppings, black mouldy lettuce and spinach. Terrible over all. Would not recommend. Another example of all hype and bite.
Jaime
Total disappointment! Will not go back. Pizza was a soggy gross mess, got charged for kid's "free" dessert, and then waitress took all the change (which was $13) as tip when twice we said to put it on table when she brought it to us, her reply was "can I have it?, ok thanks" and walked away. We were shocked and disgusted with famoso!

Genuine Neapolitan Pizza. Last time I had a real Neapolitan pizza was at a wonderful restaurant in Sedona, Arizona.
Now we have them all around Edmonton, with the newest being this one in Spruce Grove.
We shared a Siciliana ($14.50) comprised of Italian sausage, Italian ham and baked prosciutto. Delicioso!
A pair of Lattes ($4.25 each) and we were well lunched!
Their selection of pizzas were not quite as adventurous as in Sedona, where I had a Lamb and Chevre pizza, but (for a price) one can add toppings to their menu items (which they try to encourage).
I did find that, due to the hard surfaces and open kitchen, the noise level was significantly high, so much so that I muted my hearing aids.
Friendly servers and attentive. So attentive in fact that I was asked how our meal was just as I was putting my first bite into my mouth!
An interesting touch on their wine list (which we have yet to sample) is the pricing is "Retail Value +$15" for bottles. This means high margin on cheaper wines and low margin (by restaurant standards) on more expensive wines. No indication of whether one can bring one's own wine, as is permitted by AGLC, and pay the $15 "set up" fee.
(4.5/5)
