Review Sauble Dunes - Sauble Beach

The place was empty and yet the food took 1 hour to arrive. The service was genuinely bad and the food was very below average. Each part of the food looked and tasted like it was defrosted from the freezer 10 minutes before it came out. The drinks were watered down and horrible.

Service was slow but the food was really good (A+ poutine) and the server was very friendly. We went for lunch and heard about karaoke that evening. We didn't regret going back for karaoke - it was a blast. So maybe this review is for the karaoke night - overall a great time, highly recommend!

Server was friendly but not so good at his job. Food was meh but slow and the order was wrong. Took one hour to get our food and it was busy when we came in but half empty by the time we ate. We were charged too much for poutine and they forgot an order of sweet potato fries. When it came, we noticed a large discrepancy between the quality of the two orders as shown in the photo. Honestly, we won’t go back.

Waited nearly a half hour to get a drink order, meal took well over an hour to come out. My wings came out 10 mins after everyone else’s and then were raw! Server never came back to check on us and when she finally came to clear plates said she would take them off the bill. Well that’s great but I haven’t eaten? Not sure her name but should not be doing this, when we did order they only had about half of what was on the menu. She just said nope when we tried to order items that they were out of. Worst service ever! Server was doing shots with another table while we sat waiting with my raw wings sitting at the end of the table. Second time trying this restaurant and got worse! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE.

Echoing many of the other recent reviews: the servers were friendly and the food was average. The primary issue was how long it took for food and drinks to come. We placed two food orders, and both took between 45-60 minutes to arrive. The restaurant was pretty quiet, and this could’ve been due to a shortage of staff. That said, it wasn’t a terribly complicated order. Either way, it makes for a frustrating dinner.

The Dunes has gone through a lot of changes over the years. Some good, some not. But new ownership showing a strong effort. Been a few times now and it's consistently solid service and food.

Last year (2021) we visited sauble twice and went here three times as the food and service were amazing. It was our favourite at sauble. Came back this year (2022) and what a huge disappointment. Menu changed to a small selection of basic greasy entrees that were way overpriced. I thought I would be safe with the nachos.. but they even managed to do a terrible job on those. Bland and very little cheese or toppings and half the nachos were coated in cayenne pepper. I'm not one who likes really hot food so was very disappointed when my mouth was on fire. Service was just as bad. No one checked on us. We asked for straws.. they forgot. I asked for a refill on my pepsi.. they forgot. Don't waste your hard earned dollars.. eat elsewhere.

Menu greatly reduced from last year. Service slow-not enough staff on. Food was ok. The waitstaff was the best part. Our waitress was great-just felt bad that she was so rushed. Mgmt needs to get more staff and expand their menu.
