Review Main Street Diner - Sauble Beach

A perfect example of how a restaurant should be run. Our waitress, Sarah, was amazing. She was setting up our table before we even entered the restaurant and she was consistent in making sure we had everything we needed. She greeted us with a smile and didnt look at us as if we were a bother. The owner even came out to make sure everything was to our liking. Fantastic food and great prices. Many other restaurants can certainly take lessons from Main Street Diner on how proper customer service is provided. We will definitely be back again. Thankyou.

Limited menu, but man... they have a great burger. They don't tell you on the menu, but they put their own aioli sauce on it, you won't need mustard, relish or ketchup. Real, thick slice bacon and real cheddar cheese. On a house made 8 oz burger. Awesome!

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating but I just can't. From the previous reviews I was expecting a bit of a wait, the promise of fresh, hot food at the end of that wait was compelling. Unfortunately, the long wait part ended up being bang on but the payoff was a bit disappointing. We ordered two burgers and fries and after about 45 minutes we received two sad plates with a smattering of fries and a small, dry burger. The promised pickle and tomato were missing just to top it all off (or not to top it off I guess...).

They're a small town diner, not a tourist joint. The servers are nice, and the food was excellent, but it's clear that they're not willing to sacrifice quality for speed. This is good food, but it's definitely not a fast food joint. Highly recommend the pancakes for a sedate brunch/lunch!

Great service and delicious meal. As annual Sauble Beach vacationers we were so happy to not only see a new option in town but when we arrived we were welcomed by a warm and caring staff and enjoyed a delicious meal that was worth every penny! Other restaurants that have become complacent and used to being the only option should look out or step it up ! Great job to the staff and the chef !!!

Decent food. Not the friendliest service. One thing I found a bit ridiculous was coffee is $1.75. What is this Starbucks? (Yes I am aware a Starbucks coffee is $1.85) On top of that coffee refills are $1.75 which they dont mention as they come by your table and just refill your coffee. To be more specific as I'm sure the owner would appreciate specifics, our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 children. Three of the 4 adults ordered coffee while 2 of those had refills. We were charged $1.75 × 5 on our bill plus $5.00 for 2 chocolate milks. We were there on September 22 around 11am if the owner would like to check records. The 4th adult had water. Good segue as there is no shortage of water in the restaurant on a rainy day as it is leaking through the ceiling onto tables in at least 2 areas in the dining room. Lastly, like most establishments in Sauble, there were a few too many house flies in the dining room. Cant blame them though as the buzz on the street is they eat for free. Wont be back. Bring on the food trucks so we can get some quality food in Sauble. Edit in response to reply: I find it surprising that the restaurant owner would openly admit he does not know how to determine friendliness and disparage a patron for having "high expectations" when visiting. I infer that the owner hopes customers come in with low expectations.

One star cause I can't do negatives. Went in with 10 people and ended up seating ourselves. After about 20 minutes they came to take our order. The older waitress kept swearing even with 4 kids age 2 to 12 at the table. The owner just stood at the bar watching everything and not helping. Our food starts to come out about 30 min after ordering. One at a time that is. About 20 min after the food comes one at a time there's still 3 Burgers missing. 10 min later we ask and both waitress said they gave our food to other tables by mistake. They then took another 40 min at which time we all got up to leave and said to forget the 3 Burgers and not bill us for them. The waitress says they were ready but we could have them for free and gave us take out containers. The food diddnt look cooked right but we diddnt want to be rude. The bill comes and it's for everything. The owner is there so we say we don't want the 3 Burgers and he said we have to pay for them anyway. After over an hour and a half from when we order and there not even cooked, kids are getting upset cause the owner is yelling for whatever reason, I smelled beer on his breath so maybe he was drunk, then we tried to return the 3 not cooked Burgers and he won't take them, wouldn't take the cash for the rest, and called the cops on a family with 4 kids saying we were trying to dine and dash. I waited cause the cops were coming and spoke with them. They understood and seemed to know the owner as someone who does this often. The cops told us to pay for what we ate like we wanted in the start and we went on our way. I won't even say terrible place cause that would be an understatement. If your visiting don't go the owner is just a drunk who only wants to drunk with his friends and not run a business. There's a way better dinner 2 min away.
