Excellent food! We ordered chicken pad Thai, chicken fried rice, ginger beef, pork balls, lemon chicken and everything was delicious, cooked fresh, tender meat, just really great! The portions were enough to feed all 5 of us. Food was not salty at all, no need for gallons of water afterward.
3 of us stopped in for lunch yesterday.
The restaurant is on the small side but was clean.
I ordered the 1A lunch special. Which consisted of sweet and sour pork, chicken balls, chicken fried rice and a spring roll. I the chicken balls were not greasy at all like a lot of places. The sweet and sour pork had no fat on them at all. The fried rice was ok, rice was broken up or something the texture seemed off but was decent. The spring roll wasn't greasy either had good crunch to it and was pretty good. I was quite surprised at how good it was.
Spouse had lunch special 1B this meal came with deep fried shrimp, chow mein, sweet and sour pork and a spring roll. The shrimp looked delicious not greasy and were cleaned properly. Spouse wasn't overly impressed with the chow mein though, said it had a slight gas taste to it. But all in all enjoyed the meal.
Kid had sate chicken soup. We each tasted the broth. I must say it was very flavourful.
All of us said we would come back.
A higher rating would have been given but the servers lacked personality. Presumably the owner working the till was an extremely friendly gentleman though.
Amazing food and service. First time going there. The food was delicious, I got to try both the cold and hot spring rolls and I loved their beef ball noodle pho. Great flavors and not too much salt. The owner was very personable and made the experience extremely enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and I will be going back frequently!
1st time and loved it!. Had dinner for 3b all good. Chicken balls and shrimp didn't have too muchv batter, ginger beef was fresh and tastey normally don't like it this was the best ever, chicken noodle dish very good, spring rolls and my nephew lived the vercumilli bowl, wonton soup was the best I had in ages. Glad I was told to try this place out and wasn't overly busy and oily like other restaurants. Owner was very nice and even helped serve and pass the food. Will be back for sure!
Perfect vermicelli noodle bowl - delicate lemongrass flavours like the Summer Roll restaurant, but slightly lower prices. Best Vietnamese iced coffee!!
Fongs kitchen. Had lunch today at Fongs it was as usual very good. My husband had his usual Wonton soup which he thoroughly enjoys. I had Vermacelli with spring rolls , as always it was fantastic. Our meal arrived very timely and was nice and hot as well as very fresh. I would certainly disagree with the poster from August 29 who gave a very poor review. We have frequented Fongs many times over the years and have always had a positive experience.
Summer Roll's second location. Awesome food they make the best noodle bowl and cold rolls in the city!
Stopped in at the new location on faithful tonight. It was a soft opening so a fixed menu, but good options of both asian and western dishes. We had the chinese combination with fried rice and chicken balls - delicious sauce, good amount of chicken, not just breading; and the spring rolls with chicken and vermicelli which was fantastic. They drizzle the spring rolls with fish sauce to begin with which I really liked, the chicken was sauteed in lemon juice so it was very refreshing. I loved that as you got through the dish there was zucchini and sprouts waiting at the bottom. I also had the chinese tea which was delicious, but don't let it steep too long. Tbe new place is very nicely decorated with bright colours and it feels open and inviting. Our whole meal was only $21 and all the people working were so friendly. Looks like this is my new favorite asiian place!
Homemade Fries & Vietnamese Noodle Bowls. Not many places in the city offer homemade fries and this is one of them, for under $5. However if you like a little 'sauce' with your fries, the gravy is NOT homemade and tastes like it.....so skip it. As stated in previous reviews, their Noodle Bowls are most excellent and reasonably priced. We stop in at least once or twice a month JUST for them! Service is friendly but kinda hit and miss so I just waunder up to the kitchen with my empty cup for a refill or to ask for something else. It's all pretty casual here which makes it welcoming and comfortable and there's always a table or two open anytime of the day you stop in. Prices are reasonable.
Food. Good food and very friendly it is a must to eat at
Cold rolls and spring rolls are the best!
but remember to bring cash!
Favorite Resturaunt. This is my favorite resturaunt, as it is the place I go to the most. The food is absolutely delicious, the shrimp vermacelli (#4!) is my favorite.
CASH ONLY. Annoying this day and age. Still enjoy being able to have a good Canadian breakfast while my wife has a traditionally made Asian dish. All at the same place is great.
Good cheap meal, but make sure you have cash, not debit!!. **Make sure you have cash, not debit!!**
Went there for lunch and the owner was friendly, recommended what she thought was the best and was always keen to see what you thought of the food and enjoy the best taste out of each dish! Good food, good prices and simple place to enjoy a meal at!
Vietnamese and Spring Rolls. Everytime I go to Fongs Kitchen I get the Vietnamese noodle bowl with Spring Rolls as an Appetizer. The Spring Rolls are phenomenal they are made perfectly! I have never been disappointed with the Vietnamese noodle bowl either. The Vietnamese Rolls in the noodle bowl are amazing as well just crisp enough and the filling they use is great as well.
