I was in a two days trip in this area last month , and decided to drop to this restaurant .
its a real taste of Vietnam , great food !!!
I will not hesitate to recommend to anyone in the area !
Not bad for somewhere to hit up before the dinner rush. Nice and clean. Good place to have conversation. The food is comparable to other places. I wouod have liked my food a little more hot than the luke warm but flavour wise i wasnt disappointed or blown away by it. Better than other places ive been to. Comfy seats.

Basic, relatively fresh, high value. I think Spicy Garden is one of the best choices available if you're looking for some comforting Canadian-Chinese, except everything here is a lot fresher than the sketchy bar slash chinese restaraunt of my youth's hometown.
I can't help but be drawn to their combination meals which are great value for the amount and even quality of food you get. The dry ribs have a fantastic breading, the deep fried tail-less shrimp are a guilty pleasure, and even the Chow Mein is good on account of being loaded with fresh vegetables and noodles. A year or two ago, Spicy Garden's venue was little more than a hole in the wall along 8th street, beside the old Safeway. This made me avoid eating there because it was cramped and they only had like 6 tables, so I could never really count on actually being able to get a seat. They've since moved further down the street and now have a pretty nice-looking restaurant with a good amount of tables and booths. The food we ordered came out extremely hot and fresh, even better than the takeout! It might not be the most exciting or trendy menu, but it does what it does extremely well.
I've been here over a dozen times in the past year and always had a great experience. Sometimes the service seems a bit slower than other restaurants but it was never a problem for us. Overall the staff are friendly and polite, and the food is fresh. They have several really good dishes but I gave a 4.5 for their garlic chicken wings, wonton soup, and dumplings. Possibly the best of their kind in Saskatoon. The scrambled eggs and shrimp are also perfectly cooked and tasty.
Originally went to the restaurant several years ago at the old location and gave it a 2.5. I tried it again last night and had a much better experience. The new locale is nice. We started with the charbroiled pork fresh rolls (superb) and an egg roll. I had the coconut curry soup with seafood, which was delicious. My partner had the coconut curry beef, which he enjoyed, but still prefers Red Pepper for the dish. We finished with a green tea bubble tea, refreshing and delightful end to the meal.
We ordered take out. The restaurant looked very clean and there was a lot of people eating in. The staff are very friendly and our order was ready by the time I got there. Overall, the food was good value and very tasty. We ordered pork spring rolls, deluxe wonton soup, ginger beef, and pad thai. The spring rolls are some of the best I have tasted in Saskatoon and they are very tender. Ginger beef was not crispy/chewy like other restaurants but very meaty and a great taste. Pad thai was good, lots of chicken and shrimp, but not to saucy. I would definitely come here again. My only suggestion would be to make an easier to read online menu. I had a hard time reading the grey on grey colour on my smart phone. I asked for a take out menu for next time however was directed to the online menu. If this could be changed to make future ordering easier, I will give a 5 star rating next time.
The old location was "cozy," the new location is larger and modern. We always enjoy the noodle bowls here. The Wonton soup is also consistently good. Prices are very reasonable.

Great wonton soup!!! Service is a little on the slow side but they were fairly busy over supper. Birds nest was tasty aswell! Over all good experience!
TL;DR- Great spring rolls, closes way too early
Spicy Garden is my go-to take out restaurant. The food is consistent with generous portions for the price. My usual dish is their spring roll bun (noodle bowl). Spicy Garden easily has the best Vietnamese spring rolls on this side of the river. The fiance usually has their Singapore noodles which are just the right level of spice for him. The pepper beef is also delicious if you can handle a bit of heat.
The restaurant has recently moved locations and I would be thrilled if the move includes extended business hours. Closed at 8pm is too early even for a week night.
My partner and I discovered Spicy Garden in the Fall of 2014, and it instantly became our favourite place in the city! The servers are always efficient and friendly, and the food is made from quality ingredients. The spring rolls and the spicy beef and pork noodle soup are our favourites; makes it difficult to order anything else from the menu because we love them so much!
Really tasty food. Best spring rolls in my opinion, they're always crunchy and hot. I usually get a mild beef curry vermicelli bowl. One of my favourite spots. Service a little on the low but the food keeps me coming back.
Pho Soup to die for. Pho soup is a meal in itself.

Forget everyone else - Spicy Garden is the best in Saskatoon!. Back in 2009, I was in Saskatoon on business and discovered Spicy Garden. 5 years later, we moved to Saskatoon, but I had forgotten this wonderful restaurant's name and was in search of it. We had tried one other restaurant that we will never go back to again. And having not satisfied a craving for Chinese food, we googled and found Spicy Garden. Walking in to pickup my order, I realized in an instant that I had found what I had lost - some of the most amazing Chinese food I've ever come across, incredible staff and phenomenal service. While it seems like an understatement to say that a restaurant has fresh food - Spicy Garden really does have Fresh food. Their quality (and quantity) will make your tummy smile, and amazing, attentive, personal service will make you enjoy your meal and forget about the outside world. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Hidden Gem. The food here is amazing as always and they have great service! Small seating so get here fast because it fills up quickly. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Awesome. I order form here regularly and always love the noodle bowls. Lots of flavour and lots of food. Also love the spicy soup. Only bad experience here was ordering the pad thai, which ended up being mostly made up of onions instead of noodles.
Very friendly service, and quick meal prep. Great Vietnamese food.

Great Food!. I have been a long time customer of Spicy Garden restaurant and I really enjoy the food here. Try the ginger beef on rice. It is made with actual ginger sauce and not lemon sauce like most places seem to use!
Best service out of every single Vietnamese restaurant in Saskatoon, hands down. Pleasant people and atmosphere.. AND they have an entire vegetarian page on their menu, unlike the other restaurants as well. Absolutely delicious every time, and as a vegetarian I hope they never lose the veggie options!
Flavourful. So far I have been a fan of the dishes here. I often get the pho. It's quite nicely flavoured. A friend of mine ordered egg rolls here once. They were horrific. That small bump aside - everything else I've ever tried here has been great. The service is quite friendly too. I will continue to go back!

This place is the best. It might not look like much, but my oh my. The noodle soups are the most delish. I wish it was open later, but it appears to be a family run joint so I can understand why they close around 8 or 9. My go to place. Love it. You must go
A second try, perhaps?. The service was quick and courteous. I ordered the tofu bites and the coconut curry vegetables on rice. The tofu bites were really good, fresh and served with this great tomato-ish kind of sauce. I was kind of hoping for peanut sauce, but oh well. The coconut curry vegetables were okay, I have to admit I was expecting a bit more flavour. I could taste the curry but there really wasn't any coconut that I could taste. The portion size was pretty generous, and for fourteen dollars I would say this was a decent meal. I think I'll try Spicy Garden again, but order something else off the menu, since the coconut curry veggies didn't seem to live up to their name.

Like an old friend, you are there when I need you. SG, never a first choice, but a solid last resort. Consistently good, but never quite great (close with some of the noodle soups though). I will surely see you again soon.
When in doubt...... Took myself out for lunch today. Wanted south/east side of town and Asian. I've been to almost every place that fills that bill and after careful consideration...went back to an old favorite. Spicy Garden is a small gem that has consistantly good food at reasonable prices. The staff are prompt, polite and actually appear to appreciate the business.

Excellent - Our new favorite restaurant. We have been to the Spicy Garden several times now, each at supper time. We usually make reservations as it gets quite busy around 6:00. Portions are generous and the food is delicious. You can specify how spicy you want the food, from mild to hot. They are also very allergy conscious and offer gluten free options. If you go, definitely give the spring rolls a try.
Awesome!. I went in with my boyfriend for lunch, we had pork rolls, S&S pork, almond chicken and chicken chow mein. I had no complaints whatsoever, the food was absolutely delicious! I've found my new favorite restaurant. The food came out very quick, the server was very pleasant. Relatively cheap!

It is unfortunate you feel that way. are you sure you have the correct restaurant though?
Our broth is always prepared with the most fresh and best ingredients by mom. We have had much praise about all our soups--by various reviews and even by chefs of other restaurants who come to frequent Spicy Garden, sometimes only to have one of our noodle soups.
Among personal reviews we also have had the priviledge of Planet S Magazine (June 3rd 2008) and the Star Phoenix (Taste of Saskatchewan Article) include really great feedback about the quality of our dishes.
Your comment about the brisket really confuses me...we have never offered beef brisket with any of our Pho noodle soups. We offer variations on te classic Sliced Beef Pho such as the Beef Meatball Pho, Sliced Beef and Meatball Pho, and the all inclusive House Special Pho (which includes sliced beef, meatballs, tendons, and tripe). There is a very nice picture taken by "ronnie" posted here on Urbanspoon of the House Special Pho. I always prefer the House Special Pho myself and it is also very popularly requested with $2 extra meat or the extra large size for $3 more. We have never carried, nor offered, beef brisket, but.thank you for your suggestion and we will for sure keep your suggestion in mind for future considsrations.
Fresh additional bensprouts, cilantro, lemon, and basil is available on the side; although some cilantro, sprouts, and green onions is already pre-prepared in your soup. Usually our wait staff will ask you if you would like additional on the side. We don't automatically bring it out because not everyone is a fan of extra basil, cilantro, beansprouts, and/or lemon. I am very sorry if our staff may have forgotten to ask you your preferences.
Feel free to at anytime to submit a request with any server if we forget to ask. Some regular customers will request 2 or 3 plates of sprouts! Some request no lemon. Some request 5 or 6 wedges of lemon. We are happy to provide at your request, feel free to let any of the servers know!
We have never carried limes. Perhaps our style is different from your preferences. We have only ever carried lemon, but thank you for your suggestion we will keep it in future considerations.
We use real mango ingredients to prepare our mango bubbletea, not powder or flavouring. I am not sure why it was bitter, but I do apologize for this experience. If ever anything is not 100% to your satisfaction, we, like any responsible eztablishment, care about your input and experience and would be more than happy to make things perfect for you. Just ask for a manager, myself, or mom.

Alright and nothing more. The restaurant is small, so reservations for larger groups are an absolute necessity. The dishes aren't too bad and the prices are competitive. The waitstaff is surprisingly attentive (for an Asian restaurant), always keeping our cups filled and checking to make sure everything was okay. Serving sizes are large and come out quite quickly.
My only complaint - and it's not even a severe one - is that all of the vegetables tasted the same. Although I know that the mixed vegetables used in every dish is likely from the same source, I'm positive it wouldn't hurt to experiment and cook/spice them differently.
Overall a good experience but only a good one. Nothing here excites or compels me to return too often.
PS - They tape Urbanspoon reviews up on their wall. Good to see that they care about what customers think.

Pho-tastic!!. Ordered delivery from here on the weekend for myself and 7 other very hungover acquaintances. Ginger beef, shanghai noodles, chicken fried rice, shrimp fresh rolls, vietnamese spring rolls. Everything tasted especially awesome and our hangovers soon disappeared. Spring rolls stood out for me personally as they were obviously homemade and very fresh. Pho-tastic!

Great little place. Tipped off by a co-worker, now whenever Asian cuisine comes up its one of the first places reccomended. GREAT for vegetarians (they have a menu page for that dietary option alone), LOVE the tofu bites. Spice is great. Yum!
Tastey. The food is really great. I've tried the House bun, tofu bites and the meal for one, and I was happy with all of them. Unfortunately, with the great food comes a lot of business and the incapability to keep up with the orders. Call your order in early, and pick it up 5-10 minute than they say it will be done.
The food and service here is always top notch. The beef stew and house pho are especially good. The daily lunch specials are also good, big and fast if you're in a rush.
Great Vegetarian & Gluten Free Options. I wanted to try Spicy Garden after seeing the variety of vegetarian items they offer. We spoke with the owner about food allergies and they were very accommodating. The food was fresh, the flavours were great and we ate with peace of mind. You really have to try the vegetarian tofu bites they are mind blowing.
Fresh. I really liked their Pho and the freshness of the veggies and herbs. Prices are reasonable and service is quick which is great for someone on a limited lunch break.

Best Shanghai fried noodles ever. AMAZING. I always order this.. and the spring rolls. The owner is always so nice and so friendly. I think its really cute how the grandma (the owners mom) helps and busses the tables and she cant speak very much english but she is just so cute and nice!! Probably my favourite asian restaurant on the east side. Love the shanghai fried noodles HOT! soooo spicy and tasty
Friendly service. Very large portion of Pho. Anthony Bourdain blabbers on about how good this stuff can be. I just wanted to try it. Deffinatly good. I bet in Vietnam its much more phenomenal. But none the less very fresh and good. Could use a couple more sauces to add at your leisure on the table but still satisfying. I would really like to try this in Vietnam to really get the real thing but this is as close as it gets. The lady who runs this place is really nice and I had an excellent experience there.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Saskatoon. They have reasonable prices, great portion size and amazing flavour!! I highly recommend it! The Bún is fantastic in any flavour and the wonton soup rocks! The staff are so kind and to top it off they deliver!

Awesome!. Went there tonight for the first time, we both ordered different bun (noodle bowls). They had a pretty good noodle/ veggie/ meat ratio, my only issue was with the fish sauce that was presented with it. It didn't taste like it was anything but fish sauce and water. I thought that most of the other places I have had noodle bowls at like "red peppers" fancied up the fish sauce?
I would definitely go back and try other stuff, the soup and other dishes the other diners were getting looked and smelled amazing! They have an awesome website with their whole menu on it too!

To: "Disappointed". Yes, quotation marks. Because I don't understand what you should be disappointed about. After reading your review, I decided to go there myself to see what was so wrong with their Pho (I'm Vietnamese, so I like to investigate Vietnamese restaurants) and I actually needed to stifle the need to laugh out loud.
Yes, the noodles are different, but that's because different regions of Vietnam USE different noodles in their Pho!! What amuses and insults me at the same time, is just because people have had Pho from the Ho Chi Minh area (mostly), they automatically assume that ALL pho looks EXACTLY the same as that. Does a burger mean the patty is made of beef? No. So why assume the same for Pho dishes in Vietnam?
I personally enjoyed the pho here. The style seemed similar to the country style Pho they make in Vietnam near the Saigon area (don't say Saigon in Vietnam or else they'll shoot you :P It's actually supposed to be called Ho Chi Minh), and the beef was well done. I don't really enjoy well done beef myself in Pho, being raised by a family who lived in Hue, I've enjoyed Medium-Rare to Medium beef in my Pho and Bun Bo, so although the rest of the soup was good, I didn't really like the key ingredients of it.
I would have liked to see better service there (the waitress didn't seem very happy that we came in, and didn't attend to us very well), and it would have been nice if they just automatically gave us the raw vegetables that you put in the pho. Although I can understand that a lot of people don't put it in, which is why they did that: so that don't waste vegetables.
All in all, I feel this was a pretty good restaurant! Not something I would frequent regular, but still a place to go if I'm craving Saigon country-style Pho
Good food, fast friendly service.. Just picked up an order from this place tonight. Food was ready in no time, price was decent and the food was actually really good. Ginger beef was great and the veggies were fresh.
As for the past comments about authenticity, it may be true but i wouldn't know the difference and would definitely order from here again.
