Review Red Pepper Restaurant - Saskatoon

Shannan Ward
I love the daily bowls of yummy noodle or rice specials. Its consistently good with rather large portions. Parking is challenging as it's just street parking. I must comment on the music playing in the background. If you like the oldies like Dean Martin, Tom Jones or Michael Bublea your gonna love this place. It's a nice place and worth a visit.

I dont normal complain or leave reviews but this was the worst take out meal i have ever had. I ordered the thai spicy noodles, it was a container of plain rice noodles, 3 shrimps and some pieces of beef, had maybe some coloring on a few noodles that may have been a sauce. I also got the spicy beef soup, it had one slice of beef......and thats it! Broth and one piece of beef. I had the chicken and mixed vegetables, the vegetables were raw...not a little crunchy but raw! Last but not least was the hot and sour soup which i am a huge fan of and make myself at home, not sure what this was but it wasnt hot and sour soup. The chicken in the vegetables and soup was extremely chewy. Very expensive and disappointing end to an evening!

All food are yummy, I really love it. The staffs are literally friendly and nice, love you all ☺️. I’m a Vietnamese people, I’ve tried many Vietnamese restaurants in Canada, but the food here is the best, such a real Vietnamese taste, especially, “Pho” special beef rice noodle soup, bird’s nest, spring rolls. I’m happy when the restaurant is pretty close to my workplace. Yay 🥰🥰 thank you for the food and your services.

Food is nice. They have nice spacious place to sit. The food was hygienic and served in good portions. Their one dish is good for at least two people. I ordered Sizzling ginger Pork and it was a bit sweet. But it was tasty and the quantity was a lot. The staff is nice and friendly. I would recommend this place for a nice hearty meal.

The best Vietnamese restaurant in the city. I always order from this place and the owner himself delivers the food most of the time. He’s been very nice and friendly to me. Great service, nice restaurant and awesome staff and management! Highly recommendable!

Maybe it is just me - but I feel the Asian food scene in Saskatoon is on a sharp decline and nowhere is that more obvious than Red Pepper. I went there last in early 2020 and it was probably about a 4 star then. Yesterday I went back for what was one of my top 10 worst restaurant meals of all times. The food was cold and bland, the service slow, the waiter got the order completely wrong and the tea was at best tepid. What was supposed to have been a Szechuan spicy noodle pork and tofu dish came out without noodles, blander than baby food, and with some unrecognizable mixture of lumps of Tofu and ground pork. I doubt even my dog would eat this. The ginger beef fared only slightly better with a grand total of 2 pieces of ginger allocated to the entire dish. I think the cook forgot to wave the ginger over the dish a third time before serving it. This place is a "has been" and you will do yourself a favour by giving it a miss.

Visiting from out of town. Had the Sautee beef soup, sizzling crispy ginger beef and a pork sub. It was all incredibly delicious. Very happy with our lunch experience, the staff was very friendly too :)

Just stopped in for a pick up of shrimp fresh rolls with the peanut sauce! They were delicious, I will definitely be back! Great customer service and restaurant looks great! Thank you😋
Jordanna
Quick and friendly service, huge portions, authentic, and tasty!

Disappointed tonight. Specialty chow mein, and Thai basil chicken both had the same sauce that tasted like a dirty grill. Hot and sour soup was good as usual. Deep fried shrimp rolls were lacking flavour but the sauce with them was good. I've had much better experiences here before. I hope they get back on track!

Hands down the best Vietnamese place in town. The food is tasty and the ingredients are high-quality. The place is clean, cozy, and has nice music. Apparently they'll even be adding desserts to the menu soon.
Lily
The food is alright but it depends on what you order. Its probably one of the better places to get (Chinese) hot and sour soup. The pho has quite a bit of flavour but kind of heavy on the MSG. The vermicelli dishes are decent but the fish sauce needs a little more flavour to it. The deep fried wontons are filled with a thin slice of beef meatball...which is definitely the incorrect way of making wontons and not worth paying for.

Last Saturday night Jordon and I went to the Red Pepper in downtown Saskatoon. It was a quiet pre-Valentine’s Day supper and was a nice and quiet place to go. We ordered a sizzling seafood platter that featured mussels, lobster, and shrimp. We also split a beef and shrimp noodle bowl as well as a shrimp and coconut curry dish. The food was excellent and the service was fast. It wasn’t that busy but there was enough people in there that I was surprised at the speed. The food came out fresh and piping hot and was all on our plates within minutes.

I have been here a couple times and have had high expectations since they have won multiple times and different awards from Planet S and left thoroughly disappointed. I had the tom yum and my husband had the beef satay and then we shared the cold rolls. It was close to the least impressive veitnamese meal we have ever had. The flavours weren't very balanced and the veggies seemed old. I would much rather go to the place beside.

The 'Jumbo Combo' is my favorite noodle bowl in the city, particularly if value is considered at all. You can walk to the mall and pay 50% more for 50% less. Anything with pork in it, whether it's the Jumbo Combo or the Pork Special, is delicious. The pork is seasoned in such a way that it has a very distinctive salty flavor, I now judge pork from any other Vietnamese restaurant by the standard set by Red Pepper in this regard. The Vietnamese rolls are a must try (luckily a Jumbo Combo comes with one), among the best in the city. The fish sauce is really sweet compared to other places, but a great treat in its own right, I really recommend just dumping it all over your food, particularly if you get Vermicelli, since it will give the Vermicelli a lot of much-needed flavor. Pedestrian stuff like the Ginger Beef sizzling platter is really good too, they prepare it with fresh vegetables and ginger - everything still has a crunch rather than being cooked into a limp soggy mess. I'm less familiar with the curries and Thai-side of their menu, but I haven't always heard positive things, so you may want to head down the street to Royal Thai for that and stick to the amply-sized Vietnamese-Canadian portion of the menu. The business is family run and genuine, all of the servers are very polite and competent and I don't have any complaints about the service. Like Thien's, the physical dimensions of the restaurant are lacking, the entrance area is really bad if you arrive at a busy time or are waiting for a pick-up order.

My top places for Asian food in the city. I've never left here disappointed. Always consistent. Plus you can't beat the prices the portion sizes are huge so for me it's basically two meals in one since I can never finish a full noodle bowl. Just thinking about it makes me hungry.

We have been here a few times over the years.
The restaurant can get quite busy. This can cause some confusion with the staff.
The spring rolls are quite good. Won't say they're my favourite in the city but still pretty good.
I can't remember what my spouse had but a noodle bowl of some sort. There were no complaints.
I had the satay beef with vegetables. It was a huge portion. Fair amount of beef and lots of veg. Lots of mushrooms too. Which is great for me as I love mushrooms. There was so much I had enough left overs for a full meal.
We will come back but we don't hit the downtown core very often so may be awhile.

My family comes here almost every time we visit Saskatoon! The food always tastes good and is made fresh. They staff were very friendly and attentive the last time we were here as well! Will be back.
KChang5296
I go here often and love the food. Try spring rolls!! Definitely one of the best Thai restaurant in saskatoon. I often go here during lunch time since they serve really fast.
Soheeeee
The food was good but there was only one waiter working for dinner service. The waiter was super friendly and did the job of 2 waiters but that's certainly not enough.
Note** you can do half orders for appetizers instead of getting the full order
Cara Hunchak
We came to this restaurant by chance and it was fabulous! The spring rolls are the best we've ever had! My husband loved the hot and sour soup. I had coconut shrimp and it was very good. My daughter had a noodle bowl and it was one of the best I've ever tasted. My husband also had the sandwich and really enjoyed it.
We will definitely be coming here again!
Brooke
The spring rolls definitely deserve at least a 4.5. Some of the best I've ever tasted. However, the chicken coconut curry was terrible. Slightly gelatinous and hardly tasted like coconut at all. Also, the vegetables were not cooked well. Quite possibly one of the worst curries I've ever eaten. I really want to give this place another chance though. My review will hopefully change soon.
Chad Franklin
I've been coming to Red Pepper for at least 15 years now, always a wonderful meal. The spring rolls are easily the best in the city! Jumbo Combo is excellent as is many other menu items. Their chili oil is also best I've had, could almost drink it with a straw I like it that much. Super nice staff also, definitely recommended!
Mike
Beef chow fun kinda salty, fresh rolls very tasty

Even a 1/2 order is huge

Atmosphere kinda meh

Recommend you look at bringing friends as orders are large
Brent
I am sure there are many good items on the Red Pepper menu, however I am really only acquainted with the Jumbo Combo. It is one of my top 3 favorite noodle bowls in the city.
Jenna Fingler
It's good for the price. Some of the dishes are more bland than I'd expect (but that's what chili oil and Sriracha are for!) You can order takeout online, too.
Bowmanblackmon
Not happy!. I ordered the food and it took an hour and a half to get there, I was told it was just finished and it was cold as ice...I was missing items, and the quantity was lacking to say the least for the 50 dollars I spent. I was not very happy with their delivery service and the food was ok...but, with only 4 pieces of small chicken chunks in a dish called chicken curry with vegetables for 12.00 I am not a pleased person. it was a few veggies drowning in a watery sauce and was not even full in the dish I received. I won't be ordering from this place ever again! Good luck if you choose too!
Ara
Tentative, friendly service. Our server explained the menu well and accommodated to our needs. The chicken noodle bowl I had was very filling. Overall very satisfied.
Mark
Very good. This is a very friendly place and the meal was fantastic with large portions at reasonable prices. Hard to get close parking and the bathroom is downstairs so not very handicap friendly. Great meal noodles were great.
C4nuck09
Amazing food!!!. This is the first time I've actually left a review on here. My girlfriend and I were very impressed with the food we had delivered. Everything was cooked very well and tasted unbelievably good. I highly recommend this restaurant. Do yourself a favour and order some delicious food from them!
Rey Cruz
Awesome Food. Ordered spring rolls, sizziling ginger beef and chicken curry on rice. All were very good. The spring rolls were probably the biggest in the city, the curry was yummy and not too spicy. The ginger beef was actually crispy and not soggy. Very satisfied with this place.
Taj12
Mmmm red pepper. Pad Thai and fresh rolls every time! Absolutely delicious! First visit I was happily surprised by the big portions. Even more deliciousness. The staff has always been so friendly. Keep it up, red pepper, you rock!
Dave
Stopped in for lunch while shopping downtown . Great cold rolls and satay chicken soup
Will be back soon
Dudeman_696969
Awesome!!!. My S.O and I have been coming here for quite a few years and the food is always awesome! It's never greasy and always very flavourful. Our favourite dish would have to be the sizzling crispy ginger beef! DE-LISH!! I will admit, there has been 1 time when it wasn't as good as their usual but it's still way better than most asian restaurants here in Saskatoon, and for the 1 time out of 100 that it wasn't spot on, I'll forgive them.
Food Trotter
Just like the place next door, no good!!!

Dont Bother if you love Food. Decor is 3/10
Service 2/10
Value for Money...Dont ask.
Kids of the owner running around the restaurant makes you feel like you are having dinner in a Vietnamese Daycare. The "Special Wonton Soup" $10+ Tax was filled with frozen vegetables. Like drinking hot water. I had to dump half a jar of soy sauce into it to get a flavour. The Vietnamese Spring Rolls $7+tax, came out stone cold. No one brought the bill so I stood at the cash register for 10 minutes waiting to pay...a woman with a phone stuck in her ear taking a takeout order cashed me out. The beer was $5.50+tax...ya...whatever...I should have walked out before I walked in.....back in my hotel waiting for the diarrhea to start...PS ANYONE that thinks this is a great place to eat has never left Saskatoon!!!

Favourite by far!!!!

Rare Vietnamese allergy friendly restaurant. This is the first Vietnamese restaurant I've been able to go and they have consistently been able to accommodate my allergies. Good food, good portions, good prices
Mind Of Ego
It's Turing into something. This restaurant has one thing that it is been in saskatoon for many years and still does seem to Impressed me very much because it's on greasy side and other fact that is I only ordered food there twice and still I was not happy after I paid for my meal this is just the part of it and If something like this happened like I found cooked rice in my tea pot when I ordered tea with my meal that is one part I found that odd like it was cooked white rice in the tea pot with tea in it.

here something helpful for this restaurant maybe it will help or maybe it will not

this bit a info might help

How to Cook With Less Oil!

Often, cooking at home is healthier than dining out. But if you're not careful, cooking with too much oil can lead to a lot of added calories (more than 100 per tablespoon for many oils; read this for our full nutritional breakdown of different types of oils) and fat. While cooking with oils can be beneficial — many contain healthy monounsaturated fats that help lower your cholesterol — if you want to keep that calorie count down, here are some suggestions for how to cook with less oil.

Stick to recipe quantities. If you're following a healthy recipe with nutritional information, stick to the measurements laid out in the recipe. While you may think it's easy to eyeball oil quantities, you may not realize just how many tablespoons you're using if you don't use measuring spoons.

Use a nonstick pan. Searing meats and sauteing vegetables are easier to do sans too much oil if you have a good nonstick pan. Just make sure you don't heat your pan higher than 500 degrees Fahrenheit (leave it on low to medium-high heat) in order to prevent releasing toxic fumes from the nonstick coating.

Spray it on. For adding a finishing touch of oil to dishes, use an oil mister instead of a heavy-handed pour from the oil bottle.

Read on for more suggestions for cooking with less oil.

Steam or par-boil veggies beforehand. Making a stir fry or sautéing some root veggies? Some veggies, like broccoli, carrots, and other harder vegetables, take a while to cook in the pan. Instead, cook them a little bit before you add them to your dish so they'll cook faster without needing all that oil.

Use a little bit of water. Some porous vegetables like eggplant end up soaking in all the liquid in your pan. Instead of continuing to pour oil to compensate, use a little bit of oil and add water. Add spices as necessary if you feel like the dish tastes too bland.

if that info does not help then I don't what to say.

Good fresh flavours. The chicken curry wasn't as spicy as a like but still really good. And the Thai basil shrimp is worth a try.

1/2016 Update: My opinion of Red Pepper has greatly improved over the past couple years. One of my favourite and go-to places downtown. Best noodle bowls in the city. Their bahn mi is great. Tried their coconut curry tonight for the first time and it was delicious, great deal for $8.95. Service is efficient and friendly.

Original:
Good, But Not Amazing. I had the singapore curry noodles, which was pretty good. The deep-fried spring rolls were the best part of the meal. My boyfriend had the ginger beef which was just so-so. Overall, it was okay, but I am still a Sawadee girl all the way. Much better food and atmosphere for basically the same price.
Beardedantihero
Flavour!. One of my favourite vietnamese restaurants in town, their noodle bowl are ok, ive had better, but ive never found a better coconut curry, its small and usually packed near meal times, but damn cheap, not many places you can feed 3 people for like $20
Levack
Great place when you want something fun for lunch. I usually end up over at the Red Pepper when I am out and about downtown and don't want Midtown food court food.

Too me this is no fuss Asian food place. They have a little bit of everything, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean just to name a few off the top of my head. Everything I have had from here has come out fresh, hot and very tasty. I usually go for the coconut curries with some spring rolls on the side. I just love their spring rolls, crispy and deep fried. And if you haven't tried it, get a Vietnamese iced coffee. So amazingly good and sweet. A nice pick me up after an afternoon of shopping.
Maranda V
Love it! Everything tastes amazing the only thing About this restaurant is poor customer skills I was waiting quite awhile for them to even acknowledge I was there and they looked at me multiple times. Other than that very yummy
IslandEvil
Good, Authentic Pho. We have eaten here twice now and both times found the Pho to be very tasty. Adding sweet basil, mint and peppers to the lime and sprouts would make this soup great (suggestion only).
Kballz
Decent, but.... ...it ain't no Thien Vietnam!! the food is good but a little overpriced (compared to Thien's) and the shrimp aren't deveined (at least, they weren't on the occasions I went there), EW! I will always pick Thien's over this place because I love their staff and the food is cheaper but with the same or better quality, and Red Pepper has less-awesome hours.
Joshua
Lunch is the best!. Love having lunch here, very busy at lunch time though. Usually get the pork noodle bowl or the crispy ginger beef and a side of rice.
J
I used to like Red Pepper a lot. The sauces are still flavorful, and the food is hot and prepared quickly, but the dishes always seem to be mainly sauce with a few meager veggies swimming in them. I normally order the coconut curry, and while tasty, there were only a few sad broccoli and cauliflower florets, with some onions, carrot coins and 3-4 pieces of tofu. Hardly worth $11. My husband's ginger beef left a lot to be desired as well. The fresh salad rolls were not tasty, (they have changed the dipping sauce?) and these are usually a favorite of mine. This isn't the Red Pepper I remember from a few years ago. I'd recommend either paying a few dollars more for really good food from Keo's, or saving a few dollars and going next door to Thien.
Louise Seidel
The noodle bowl had a very nice flavour, but they scrimped on the veggies: only had a few sprouts and a handful of lettuce.
AM
Nothing Fancy, some good items.. Messy place, a bit odd seating placements. Fast service.
Some good menu items. Pricey for a quick, greasy meal you get. Its supposed to be a cheap takeout place, nothing fancy here.
Movember
Good for lunch. Good food great service, what else we need, will be back again.
Brenda
Best asian cuisine, friendly staff & reasonable prices! always order our usual and never dissapointed!
CupOfCoffie
Hmmm. Not really that good food a bit pricey and little greasy and found rice in my pot of green tea!
So what is that all about finding rice in my pot of tea.
Kmt
Its ok, I would eat there again, however thein is 2 doors down with better food and better prices
Nicole S
I didn't like what I ordered, the shrimp was way overlooked. might try it again for a noodle bowl someday.. maybe
Mkadollar
Great noodle bowls. A friend took me their years ago and now I go there every week. Our friendship has long ended (She walked away without telling me why ) But her introduction to this pklace was great. I eat their ofter and will do so as long as they are open. I have taken many people their as I like the place so much.
Gordo
Had three things, coconut curry beef, special chow mein, and singapore noodles. All three were excellent. I'm from vancouver and know good asian cuisine, and this place was pretty darn good.
Petah
It was nice to see the owners family helping out. Very friendly service. The food was a bit bland. They do not have brown rice. Price was about what I usually pay for top notch Thai food.
Kipndo
Awesome Food. My experiences with the Red Pepper Restaurant have only been positive. The food is flavourful, the service is good and the prices are great. Lots of menu items to choose from. All and all a great experience and highly recommend it to fill your Vietnamese food craving.
Seriousgoose
Best Kim chi. They have the best kim chi in all the land
Pacman
Yum!. Always a sure bet. It's affordable, quick and delisious! Don't ever change a thing.
Jbeck
Great food at a great price. I had the coconut curry which was awesome.
Daringtobe
It was average at best. I didn't finish my share of the shrimp fresh rolls which is not like me at all. The noodle bowl wasn't terrible but I have had much better elsewhere. I also found the prices to be more expensive than other restaurants with similar, if not better, food. I most likely will not be returning.
Tyler Walker Young
Chicken curry yummmmm. It is good, but the chicken curry veg is amaaaazing!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously that brown curry sauce i could eat as a soup. one time i was there and a group had ordered it and not eaten it al.l i was very tempted to ask "ummmmmm.....you gonna eat that?" just hook it to my veins!!!!
CruJones Risling
Red Pepper is a staple of the delivery scene in Saskatoon. Not that the restaurant isn't worth a visit, they just seem to be able to maintain quality in their delivered dishes better than most. The ginger beef and any dish featuring curry are always good ideas.
MT
Ok...just ok. I ordered from here based on some positive reviews, but I would call this food average at best. I ordered the thai basil chicken and there was no thai basil anywhere to be found. This place is no where near as good as Spicy Garden.
Ssparkles
Ordered dishes on the premise they would be spicy (satay tofu and vegetables, Singapore noodles) and there wasn't a hint of spice in either dish. Tasted more like a mediocre stir fry... Faster than anticipated delivery but WOULD NOT recommend. I remember having a good tofu and veggies in black bean sauce 3-4 years ago but I guess times have changed?
LL
Alright.. Had some nice enough meals here, but avoid the singapore noodles and pad thai, they are really not their strongest points to say the least. Pretty good spring rolls usually.
Manya Faria
Hit or Miss. I have had the best Hot and Sour soup of my life here but after 5 years of trying to have that experience again, I have finally decided that I can not risk another dime "chasing a dream" It must have been a fluke.

Depending on the night, items can be fresh and light or heavy, starchy and outright strange in flavour. The last time we ordered Basil Chicken, they sprinkled dried regular basil on top of a stirfry of Chicken and peppers... no, not Thai basil... regular basil... it tasted like someone crumbled their dried flowers over my order.
Thekeener1
Great food - At times Only. Facade not indicative of poor ambience and dastardly bathroom access. Good luck if you are mobility challenged in this place. Inconsistent food quality and sketchy interior. Very good food at times but flip a coin.
Some Guy
Some Guy. Unpretentious asian food. I had very nice Szechwan noodles, though I personally like mine spicer than they served it (yay Sracha tableside!), and the rest of the party sampled everything from a Vietnamese-style noodle bowl to a Thai curry. Overall impressions were very positive.
Mariatta
This is where I'd go whenever I feel like having some Vietnamese rice noodle bowl. Also, I think their spring rolls are the best in town. Sometimes, I'd also go for coconut curry beef on rice.
Anna
So great!. I love Red Pepper Restaurant - it my favorite vietnamese restaurant in the city. Every dish I have tried is so flavorful and delicious, the staff are always friendly and the take-out is a nice convenience.
Katherine
Yummy!. The food we ordered was great and super flavorful. My sister got some sort of shrimp soup. It actually tasted like the broth was homemade, nice and garlic-y and gingery. I had a noodle bowl that was on special (bbq pork I think). It was awesome. The fish sauce was seasoned perfectly.
IChang
Mostly bang-on. Combined with their new façade and the fact that they recently picked up another "Best of Saskatoon" award, I was quite eager to finally have the opportunity to chow down at this Vietnamese restaurant. I can thankfully say that the voters had it right.

Being such a large group (7), we were very lucky to squeeze around a table at the back of the small dining area. This gave us ample opportunity to try a variety of items on their large menu. Within 9 minutes our appetizers arrived, quickly followed by all of the main dishes.

First, my only complaints: their Shrimp and Pork Rolls (aka fresh rolls) were filled with a lot of lettuce and little of anything else. Also, their Szechwan Noodles were very plain tasting/looking, which is not what I look for when going out to eat (I thought 'Szechwan' meant flavor-packed). Finally, their Vietnamese Iced Coffee was much, much too sweet, requiring me to dilute it by half with my water.

Thankfully, the rest of the meal was very good. Their Sizzling Crispy Ginger Beef had a lot of beef and had just enough sweetness that it did not overpower the other dishes. Next, the crispy Tofu Bird's Nest provided some nice textures and contained well-prepared pieces of tofu and vegetables, that for once was not undercooked (if you've read my previous reviews on Asian restaurants, I typically find their vegetables far too undercooked). The Pad Thai here looked very red, but was filled with large shrimp and tasted just as good as any other. Everyone agreed that the Coconut-Curry Shrimp and Vegetables tasted simply fantastic and went particularly well with our Special Greens in Black Bean Sauce on Rice (which was good as well). The leftover coconut sauce would have tasted excellent with rice or noodles.

Overall, even though it seems like 3 out of our 8 orders were not great, all of us still thoroughly enjoyed our meal. There are definite gems on the menu and once you find them, then it is of no surprise why this restaurant consistently wins "Best of Saskatoon" awards. With groups larger than 4, I highly recommend reservations, as the restaurant was packed from the moment we entered to when we walked out the door.

Mostly delicious food that comes out quickly, and an admirable effort in service make me recommend Red Pepper to anyone wanting to try something different!
Zollman
Nice surprise!. My wife and I had originally wanted to stop in for lunch at Thiens Vietnamese but it was closed for a couple of weeks. How lucky for us that the Red Pepper Restaurant was almost right next door! The place was three quarters filled, likely because Thiens was closed. After we were seated, it took a little longer than usual to order, but there was no rush on our part. Once we did order, our food came very quickly. Our waiter was courteous and accommodating. My wife had the chicken satay with vegetables while I had the special, a thai basil beef dish on rice. It also came with a spring roll. The food was very tasty and the total bill was a ridiculously cheap $16. I would return to the Red Pepper in an instant!
J French
Simple and tastey. Friendly service, tastey food, budget price. Go for the Jumbo Combo.
LC
Great for the food!. I've been a long time fan of Red Pepper - granted I'm a sucker for vermicelli bowls! I really enjoy their use of fresh vegetables cooked tender crisp, well cut meats, and delicious sauces. Although I prefer Jasmine's spring rolls, they're always piping hot, crispy and flavourful; just the way they should be! Often, my boyfriend and I will order two vermicelli bowls, cold rolls, and spring rolls for under $30! But, I will admit that their service leaves something to be desired - I only ever hear a couple words out of the employees, if ever.

If you're in the downtown area for lunch, and have some time to spare, I highly recommend Red Pepper. It's quick, filling, cheap and delicious! Just make sure to get there early or phone your order in for pick-up! It gets pretty damn busy!
Carmen Klassen
Spicy, Quick & Affordable. I've been here a couple times in the last few weeks for lunch, and will definitely go back. I had their Grilled Pork with Spring Roll on noodles, and it was delicious both times. The dish is well-seasoned, the portions are generous, and the price is reasonable ($7).
It's very busy over the noon hour but I was able to eat and get back to work in under an hour. (I'm not sure if they take reservations, but I might try the next time I go.)
That Guy
Best Springrolls.. First off, this place has THE BEST spring rolls.

Its small, newly renovated and has great service, family run. They cater to the downtown lunch crowd with fast service and cheap dishes. I go here often and highly recommend this place, i have yet to have a bad experience in the two years iv been a customer.
Mitts
Pretty good. The special south Vietnamese soup was delicious! A little bit pricey, though, for a soup (about $11?). The stir-fry that we got was pretty standard, but good. A big menu to choose from, and service was fine.
L
Kimchii. Tried many things and it is all tasty, but the kimchii is great.
Slylock Fox
The best Springrolls I have ever had. Try the ones wrapped in rice paper... Yum! And so inexpensive. My favourite asian restaurant by far.
Jason Kayko
Yummy!. I used to visit this place every few weeks when in Saskatoon on business. I must have introducted a dozen or so of my clients to this restaurant...and they live there! It's truly a hidden gem, you probably wouldn't notice it if you walked by it, but you have to try it!

The food is great the service is great.
Kasandra
Love it!. I found this hidden secret a couple of years ago and I have to say that I have never been disappointed with their food. I love the coconut curry chicken. YUM! I hate it when I order curry and it's watery, so I was happy to have a decent curry dish. Their fried rice is amazing (so says my bf). All in all, when I am craving chinese food, this place is the first place I think of ordering from.
Aly
Loved the wontons!!!. They were deep fried, hot and served with sauce. They would be suitable for nearly anyone. Fifteen pieces for just a few dollars.
Tony
Awesome food. I would recomend this place. really good spring rolls.
i usually get the cocnut curry sauce on the jumbo combo. sooo good.
Janice
Price + quality = great. Lots of variety, really good fresh food and reasonable prices. What's not to like?
Jimmyschmidt
Very hit and miss. Amazing Vietnamese special spicy soup, but there are better noodle bowls in town. Last time I went I was the only person in the place. Even so I was surprised when my noodle bowl came out in three minutes flat. Not so surprised when I dug in and the noodles were mush and everything was lukewarm. I got served a mistake that had been thrown in the microwave. Ever had microwaved spring rolls? Not very pleasant to say the least.
Uncannycanuck
Go for the ginger beef!. Ginger beef is my go-to item that I order all over the place. Their Sizzling Ginger Beef is great!
Cailin Fisher
Unbeatable for the money. Great food.

Very good food and fast service. Coconut curry is excellent and mild! Come early on Friday for lunch or you might not find a free table. Voted tops in Planet S magazine too, they were right.
RedEnsign
Noodles. I like to drop by the Red Pepper at lunch time for a rice noodle. You know, whatever the special is that day. It's quick, satisfying and low priced.

They have been closed for a month and have now reopenned. Put in some new flooring and had the upholstery redone.

Awsome food. The best noodle bowl I have ever had ( the Jumbo Combo ). Service is excellent even though the place is always packed at lunch time.

Me and a couple friends ordered in from Red Pepper last night. We basically Paid 52.00 plus tip to eat some of it, spit it out, and throw it in the garbage. It was Gross. One of the worst Chinese meals I've ever eaten in my life... maybe the food tastes better if you eat at the restaurant. But our experience last night will prevent us from eating there for a LONG time.

The last time we went the sweet and sour chicken was bad. The sizzling Ginger beef was good though. 6/8 times that we have gone it was worth it.

-----18 Apr, 2009-----

Food is fresh and very good quality. The service is very good. Cannot beat the price either. I highly recommend you try it.

When it comes to great price compared to great quality, nothing even comes close to the Red Pepper. And it's only $2.95 a beer...to bad this place isn't a bar too! Definitely worth checking out if you're on a budget.

Tasty, but busy at peak times.
