Review The Yard & Flagon Pub - Saskatoon

Atcheynum Lady
Loved it, was geared toward ppl my age with the music. Service was amazing, food pretty good for pub fare. Only complaint is how packed it can get. After a half hour we were able to get a table. Can't wait for roof top to open again. Was inexpensive as well.
Sheryl Harras
Loved the roof top patio. Excellent service!! The Cajun chicken burger was amazing. Good gin & tonic. My friend had the fish n' chips and it was good as well. Great selection of beers on tap.
Benjamin Sapergia
The service is really good, the plant based burgers however are not very good at all. I found they tasted super doughy and could have been a lot better. Lastly, their fries do slap. Gotta work on those plant burgers though...

Tuesday wing night was a good time. Not as packed as I thought it would be but it was great as we were able to have a discussion drink locally brewed ciders. The crab and artichoke dip was really good. Don't do what I did and get excited and eat it to soon and burn the roof of your mouth a little. Let your friend that didn't read this do that. Lol. Thanks for a great night. Met up with some people that worked on this movie there. Great movie by the way.

The Yard is always a great stop. Came in for a quick patio beer on a nice day. The patio was great other than the constant screeching of their outdoor heater. The wind catches the cover of the heater and the metal scratching on metal is like fingernails scratching across a chalkboard. The New England IPA is a phenomenal beer, I would recommend stopping in for a pint! (But maybe consider sitting inside if you have sensitive ears)

Always a great place to meet up with friends. Staff has always been super friendly and accomodating to customers. Delicious food and great drinks are always available and they feature a beautiful rooftop deck for summer visits!

Best spot in Broadway Avenue with a patio on the top for the sunny days. Very friendly staff đź‘Ť

Food is good, but I had a weird interaction, sitting at the bar, where I had to take an short but urgent phone call, and the bartender interrupted me to ask me if I wanted another drink. When I said no, he pulled out the machine for me to pay, even though I hadn’t finished my drink yet, or my quick phone call! As soon as I hung up, he asked for me to pay right away, when I hadn’t finished enjoying my drink. They were not short on seats, either, but I felt like he was kinda pushing me out of the building. He also made me feel really uncomfortable asking about why I was on a phone call. I can understand if he didn’t like people taking calls at the bar. But after explaining, in detail, that my friend was in a quite a bit of a pickle and really needed a quick bit of help, he made a weirdly condescending comment towards me. The whole thing made me feel really unwelcome.

The Yard offers great pub food. Not many options for actual vegetables, but it *is* a bar! Love the rooftop patio. The servers take reasonable care of you. The darkness of the main restaurant implies that I should feel guilty for day drinking. Ha! I don’t!
Amuse Bouche
Rated high as our server was awesome. Joked around with us. Great sense of humour. We saw some food going out, looks really good.
This was our favourite Broadway stop.

First time here. Beautiful evening but unfortunately the patio was full so we sat downstairs. A bit too close to other patrons along the long bench. Had a steak sandwich, was okay but took a little long. Even though it's probably not fair to the Yard & Flagon, I would've given a slightly higher rating if it wasn't for getting panhandled on the way in. Was at a restaurant on 22nd last night and was panhandled there too. Makes a person not want to leave the suburbs.

The Elk burger was very dry and didn't have much flavour. The Poutine wasn't anything to write home about either. They used shredded cheese instead of curds and the gravy wasn't anything special.

Went in for a quick meal on a work trip. It was loud but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Service was a little slow, but it was steady in there. Food was excellent, lamb burger was very good!
DirtyFork
Loved this little pub! I had a coconut chicken sandwich full of hazelnut cream cheese. And if I could make love to a sandwich this would be the one! So good!! My boyfriends steak was a bit over cooked but otherwise great experience all around!
So unbelievably disappointed and disgusted with my first time at this establishment. I was very excited to try the new brunch features they had been advertising and was terribly let down. I assumed with a 4.3 rating the food would be good as well as the drinks, environment and service. It seems not many people rated for the food but more for the drinks and service. I only noticed that once I looked after our sad meal was finished. It was too late at that point. We came for brunch tried both specials, a mimosa and a beer. The blueberry and Brie waffle sandwich special was okay at best but for the same price you could get way better in the neighbourhood or if you went downtown. The breakfast clubhouse was overall just bad. It included two eggs that were very undercooked and we had to remove it from the sandwich. Three saturated slices of bread from the egg and marmalade. To top this order off there was a soup instead of fries mix up that was never fixed. I do understand it is a pub but if you are going to sell and advertise food make sure you have someone puts some care and pride into cooking it. The beer was good, the mimosa was not. Our server was kind but was very neglectful when it came to caring to our table even though we were one of the only tables there . The environment was the generic pub feel and look. Overall really disappointed and likely won't be back.

The food was OK but the servers here went above and beyond for us and that's why I'm giving it a 5/5.

My geriatric mother-in-law who needs a wheelchair decided that she wanted to go here while we were out at the fringe festival and she wanted to sit on a patio to get some sun.

Not only did we feel welcome, the server helped us carry her, wheelchair and all, up the two flights of stairs to the patio.

I can't quite remember her name but I think it was Killin or Kelli. Bless that young woman. When my mother started choking on her coconut chicken sandwhich, the server patted her on the back until she spit her food up...I think she literally saved my mother-in-law's life, not sure sure if I should be happy or angry, lol.

We were loyal Yard customers, we even bring our 89 yrs Mother because the food is so good.... until our last visit Jun 25-2016 @ 6:30pm we were treated very badly. As she was taking one of our orders, a friend went to ask a question, she immediately TOLD him that she would deal with him when she was done with this order- it was like she was scolding a small child. We brushed it off I'll also say that it was not busy, they didn't even have the top part of the patio open and the downstairs was very quiet too.
We waited over an hour for our food and she forgot one meal. Didn't care that she did either. We had also asked repeatedly for extra limes and nothing. and again no apologies why she didn't bring them. The dip from one of our appetizers spilled over the entire appetizer....we asked for another one....nothing.

We went to leave and pay the bill, my husband started to tell her what we were paying for, I then said we will pay for everyone's----she again TOLD me she would listen to me when she was done with him. Those were her exact words.

We have told everyone we know about the service, we were there with 3 couples and they are also disgusted by how we were treated.

If you don't like your job....QUIT!!!!!!!!!!

Shame

I would rate this place higher except that the service is horrible. This is a place were my friends and I go regularly - especially in the summer because the patio is excellent - but the service is always slow. In four years I don't think I've ever had service that wasn't slow during the summer months. Winter is always better and the servers are friendlier too!

This is my latest experience with the Yard. We waited an hour just to get appetizers and another 40 mins for the mains. The server didn't bother to tell us it would be slow because they were busy. We assumed it would be because it's the Yard but it's always nice to get a heads up from the server instead of wondering why the server disappeared and didn't check on the table - we couldn't get more drinks with any sort of speed either. The deep fried pickles were excellent when they finally came out - very hot and the pickle was still crispy which is perfect. The portions were excellent. From the comments of the group their meals were all good and up to the usual standards of the Yard. I had the moon burger - vegetarian burger which tastes amazing and the patty isn't dry which is a problem a lot of the time. It was tasty and big enough to make me feel full but not so big that I couldn't finish it. Kudos to the kitchen!

This is where I feel like I can't give it a higher score. Our server never mentioned their kitchen was back-up until we got our mains - and we had to ask if something happened since it took so long - then we were told that the mains took longer because we had appetizers. I understand that it can be busy but for the server to imply that the timing was our fault is strange. The server seemed to be in the patio area only part time and wouldn't circulate to all the tables every time they were up on the patio so about 50% of the time we wanted new drinks we had to wait even though the server was in the patio area. It should be standard practice to mention if the wait is going to be especially long before ordering.

If you aren't in a hurry the upstairs patio is a great place to relax in the summer.

Everything was just incredibly "okay." Ordered the platter(i think thats what it was called) to share between the 3 of us. There was a lot more fries than i expected, but the other things (mozza sticks, chicken bites,& battered vegetables) were just thrown on top, so you ate those first and then were left to just eat a ton of underwhelming fries. "Marinated chicken bites" were just deep fried pieces with sauce on the side.
Service was nothing spectacular, food was especially unspectacular. Sat by the window, the table was light and wobbly, chairs were big and heavy I could barely move them. I'll return to hopefully see the patio, but that's about it.

I'm not rating this place a five because of the mind boggling gourmet food. The Yard & Flagon deserves a five because it is exactly what it claims to be. It isn't pretentious or trying to be something it's not. It's a pub that serves pub food. Now don't get me wrong, this is some of the best pub food I've eaten. It wasn't too salty or greasy and I felt perfectly fine after the meal. The prices are exceptional as well. 12$ for a turkey pot pie and a side of soup. The waitresses were friendly and genuine. I could tell that they actually cared about my experience. I also enjoyed the zany, busy decor. I am definitely coming back and will recommend to all my friends!

I've never had anything but the best service and pub food here. Great servers, bartenders, and interior. Food keeps me coming back! Thanks!!
Opinionated
Not sure if this is because the Yard is now considered a neighborhood pub or an actual destination, but 130am last call on New Year's is unacceptable for a competing business in Saskatoon. Guess downtown is my first choice 90% of the time from now on.
Meesh
Good pub food. My fav is the coconut chicken sandwich. So good!!!!
Great options for beers too!
I like the size and coziness of the place. Reminds me of being in a small European neighbor hood pub!
Saskatoongirl
Worst experience at a restaurant/pub ever. We ordered beer battered fish and a burger with salads. The salads came out warm and soggy with our food an hour after we ordered. We weren't asked once how we were doing. Our drinks and waters were empty the whole time. When we asked for more water our waitress told us she was done her shift so we could go fill up our own if we wanted. We managed to talk to 3 different servers (since it felt like we were the forgotten table) and after we told one about our less than average experience she looked away and proceeded to talk to a co worker about her day. No apologies were given. It was crowded since it was double their capacity and I do not recommend this to anyone. Worst service ever!!!
Sat on the deck; service was great considering how busy it was! Great atmosphere and a nice place to go for drinks on a hot day. Got the Breaded Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, very good!

Nice but crowded.. Had a really good poutine. It was very crowded though and I almost elbowed the guy in the next booth taking my jacket off.
Thisgirl1984
Love it. Love this place, love the staff, love the food and the drinks are fairly priced!
Best place on Broadway!

Best Poutine in Saskatoon. Honestly this has to be the place with the best poutine!! Always great food and great service!
Blondy_4687
Favorite Saskatoon pub. Great date place in the summer on the rooftop, awesome food and service. No complaints here!

Great Service! Ordered a q.... Great Service!
Ordered a quick drink and was served by a very gorgeous and friendly young woman, I felt very welcomed.

- The Wizard

Great service. Ok food, good beer, nice environment and great service!

Don't order the specials, just the beer.. We ordered the #2 special. It was supposed to be a philly steak melt with soup of the day or fries.
Well we got a 1/2 untoasted sub bun with some chunks of steak on it smothered in something that resembled onions, peppers and thousand islands dressing, no melt to be seen anywhere. The soap & service was good, the fries ok, the rest very disappointing.

Not really Pub Atmosphere. A mighty mouse bar keep with a full-on Napoleon complex was incredibly rude, and suggested there was a policy that stated customers could not ask other customers to re-arrange tables and seating to accommodate friends. REALLY? That's what folks in pubs do - they talk to each other and it is social and fun! That's where you meet neighbours and have great conversations. Wonder what I did that upset this dude that he brought out the 'policy book'...which I am thinking I would love to see in writing tomorrow. I can buy my $8 beer somewhere else.

Impressive menu.. I went to the Yard and Flagon for lunch with my grandparents and I was very pleasantly surprised by their menu, as well as the food itself. The service was par, nothing special although she put up with my grandparents so that's something to be applauded for in itself. But back to the food, my grandma ordered the steak and kidney pie, her "usual" and my grandpa had the soup of the day. I, on the other hand, decided to try something new and ordered the coconut chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich was delicious, perfectly cooked chicken, hazelnut cream cheese on a soft white baguette and as I'm sure everyone knows by now the fries were phenomenal, some of the best in the city.
The Yard and Flagon is great place and I look forward to coming back and trying some of their other great menu options, especially the poutine.

DECK. WENT HEre for drinks on friday niteand the deck was rockin' as per usual. got into a bit of a tiff with the waitress cuz i asked her why they don't have porta potties on the roof and she got sassy and said people don't like to drink around theyre filth and i said but so many people are at ness creek this weekend! i thought she would laught but she got offended cuz she said all her friends wer there and she had to stay an work i guess another girl wouldn't take her shift or something

Great Patio. I really enjoyed their patio yesterday after work... no screaming obnoxious loud music... bucket of beer special went down grat and the service was exceptional... request more ice for the bucket was responded to with a will sure and came right away. place was packed and the service did not falter at all.

Tired the nachos ... they were good! (but for $15 they better be!) Sorry, I am still of the opinion that nachos should be a cheap bar food... they seem to have been elevated to the price befitting a lobster roll.

If you are looking to hit the patio, get there early!
Chad
The menu on here is outdated. The items are the same, however the prices have increased significantly. Service was good. Food was mediocre.
Ellie
Best pub food in the city!
PubPrince
I'd do it again!. GREAT pub food paired with a knowledgeable and friendly serving staff. I was impressed the first and second times I've gone and don't think the third will be any different!
CASmutt
Great pub food!
Chrissy Paproski
Amazing. Every single time. Their moon burger is to die for , for vegetarians. Their veggie spring rolls soo good. Their bruschetta is AMAZING.
Glenn Dickson
On my list. Not only has fine selection of Scotch, but they serve one of the best Steak and Kidney pie that I have ever eaten.
John
Great food and quality for the cost.

Pub Food. Whenever I go here something about the atmosphere makes me order fish and chips with my beer - however twice now I have forgotten how disappointing the fish and chips at the Yard are. I would love to see them change their recipe. Right now pretty much all you get is fish batter that is greasy, globby, and doughy and masks the small amount of fish that is actually inside. I'll be back when you let me know your fish and chips have improved to a more palatable standard. Love the atmosphere and the drinks, but the food needs some attention.
Foodie5
Great!. Lovely staff - all very pleasant. Great food too! Beer menu and drink specials never disappoint.
Kate
Great late night atmosphere. You can go to this pub any time of the day which I like been there several times I love the coconut chicken sandwhich and I've had it several times. but the breast itself is way too thick it could be sliced in half easily and you'd still have lots of chicken. If it's too thick it loses flavour and is pretty hard to bite thru. I'd love it if they'd change that otherwise nice pub great atmosphere
Bruce
Nice place for drinks but eat before u go..
Shame that there beer battered fish n chips is made with pollock cheaper option to cod but never cooks as well in batter i know there white fish and similar to cod but smaller but taste is way different..on top of that there steak n kidney pie might bd made from scratch like they claim but cold n hot throughout so zapped in microwave.would.nt recommend eating here ..
Missmemuch
Great soup!!!. Best soup ever!!!

I love the yard & flagon. They have the best poutine and veggie burgers in the city. Sadly, last night I tried their wings for the first time and I was severely disappointed. We got lemon pepper wings and there was zero pepper flavour and minimal lemon. They basically tasted like overly breaded chicken wings. It wasn't just my plate either. A group of us shared four different plates and they were all bland. If the yard could step these up a bit I would consider them the best pub in the city, but for now I'm thinking of them as a great pub with terrible wings.
Purplemonkeydishwasher
Best steak sandwich in the city! Very impressed with my lunch! Can't wait to go back and order it again!
Jessica DeWitt
Delightful Calamari. I've been to the Yard for drinks, but today was my first time eating there. We started off with the calamari, which was really good. Instead of being covered in heavy, greasy breading, it was barely breaded and perfectly seasoned. I also had the coconut crusted chicken sandwich with hazelnut cream, which was also quite good. Very unique flavor combination. Will be back!
Cooking4Horde
Great place to hang with friends and family, the entire front staff is awesome and very polite, not to mention very keen on their music choices!! :) The food is great, minus the young lady who sounded like she was a Gordon Ramsey in the making (swearing and chastising at what could only be the other cooks). Other than that, this place is by far one of Saskatoon's greatest pubs!!!
Jamies V
Very good. thank you very much. I have always loved going to the yard. One of my very favourite pubs in the city
Critique Gastronomique
Very good will go back.. We spent a warm summer evening on the roof from this restaurant/pub. The food was good for a pub. It’s not a restaurant but more a bistro/pub we had de Nachos with beef and some drinks. We will go back for sure. We give it a 7.5 out of the 10.
Meighan
Two words.... LOVED IT
Laurie Weir
Yup. It's a bar.... I enjoy coming here for drinks. The atmosphere is nice, and the service is generally good. I don't really understand the rave reviews for the food, though. It's standard pub fare, and nothing special. In fact, my husband was once served a chicken quesadilla with *sandwich meat* in it rather than the chunks of chicken one would expect from a real restaurant. Drink here, eat elsewhere.
Margaret Thomas
Great menu, lots of choices! Cheap prices and great portions
I Go Out A Lot
Great severs, bartenders and food
Anthony Sproule
Typical pre made burger patty from Costco that most places in Saskatoon like to serve, But the waitress did give me 20% off after she noticed how much I didn't want to eat the burger.
Foodluvr306
The beer menu needs improving. Dropping Paddockwood was a bad idea. You'd think they'd fill the void with something a little more credible than Okanagan Springs? Just a few suggestions: Hoegaarden, any of the new Big Rock craft beers, maybe some Phillips Chocolate. The food is good English pub fare, soup is good too.
Doombringer
Anyone who doesn't like this place needs to return from the foul pit of bad taste that spawned them. It is the best place. If you can get in. ;)
Hendrixvw
Best spot on Broadway. Great atmosphere , pub food and patio. Perfect selection of scotch and lots on tap. Pub food that beats the rest.
Stoonoisseur
Food quality has returned. For those scared off by the 6 months of declining food quality at the Yard, it has returned in spades.
FoodLover
Great night on the patio. Went for wing night on the patio! server was really busy but she was still really great. Wings were awesome - lots of sauce, meaty, and the beer was tasty of course. love it!
Amanda
Good. It's nice to meet up with friends at the Yard & Flagon for either a drink or a bite to eat.
I've tried again and again to sit out on the patio but haven't had luck yet - it's always packed.
Service was prompt, food was good (french fries are delicious) and the drinks were satisfying.
Haven't been in a while but will make another trip soon!
GluttonBros.
One of the best buffalo sauces!. Went here on a wing night and given the good weather the rooftop patio was predictably quite packed so we elected to dine inside. The service was pleasant given how busy the eatery was however glasses of water were occasionally left empty. The wings go for $4.99/lb on wing nights but must be ordered with a drink (alcoholic or fountain). During this outing I sampled the buffalo flavored wings. The wings are of a fair size and crispy but were quite dry and had it not been for the sauce, would have been quite difficult to eat. The sauce however was very delicious, it was rich and flavorful. Unlike many other places, the sauce did not have the flavor of a heavy vinegar base and had blue cheese incorporated into it making for a delicious pairing with the crispy wings. I will likely return due to the fantastic price of the wings on a wing night and the excellent buffalo sauce!
Ashtenhiebert
Ordered the peppercorn burger (it was the special). It was good, not amazing, but good. Big portions for what you pay. Still need to visit the patio so we'll be back!
Splendorific
What happened?. The Yard and Flagon is a great pub, but I feel like they've been dropping the ball lately when it comes to the food. The last time I went there I ordered the fish and chips and it was truly terrible. The fish was greasy, soggy, and nearly burnt on the outside. The fries that used to be my favorite were rock-hard (overcooked), and stale. I have been to the Yard before and enjoyed it, but this experience has really turned me off the food.
Chark
Rooftop patio with heat lamps! Awesome!. Love the atmosphere at the Yard. The rooftop patio is awesome. It's a busy spot on Friday and Saturday nights.

Came back for the blackened steak special. The steak was great as well as the onion rings that came with it. The potato salad; however, was loaded with onions. Way too much.
Happyman25
Really good place on a sunny warm day on the rooftop. I ordered a Guinness, and the monster burger with creamy tomato basil soup. Soup was fantastic absolutely the best I've ever had. The burger was huge on fact too big it was difficult to eat. Service was ok and I'd recommend this place to all my friends
Fergus Scali
Usually really good food, but.... The beer battered fish'n'chips were terrible today! They were over-crispy on the outside and soggy/greasy on the inside, yeck. Even the fries, which I normally like, were over-fried and hard. I will be back again because I (typically) like the food, but c'mon Y&F, today's meal was really quite bad. Minus one for being inconsistent.

UPDATE: A couple of my friends went to Y&F for lunch the day after I posted the comment above and had the same experience. Their fries were apparently close to burnt and the texture of the burger was like store-bought.
Emmy
Awesome. Great food, great atmosphere, amazing rooftop patio.
Frodo
Grab some friends and If u manage to get a table on the charming rooftop patio on a warm summer night-magic happens. Just be sure to double up your drink order when the waitress comes around.
Food-Mart
Rooftop patio...Wammy!!. Tough to get a seat in this establishment, but one of the best patios in the city. Tossup between here and O'Sheas in that category. Food is above average, atmosphere very good, service more often than not is good.
I Speak The Truth
Meh. So the food has gone down hill at the yard in recent years. Not sure if they got a new cook or changed cooks but i have given it two last tries in recent months and the burgers and the soups just don't meet what they used to.
Gigi
Best nachos ever!. I'm a big nacho-fan: here are the best nachos in town! and everything else on the menu is delicious too, the elk burger is my favourite! cheap and great food!
Dave
Let's face it these days you go out for the atmosphere. The yard is top notch for that. Bar service city-wide is weak so it's hit and miss here like everywhere else. Can't wait for the patio!
Ilovefood
The Yard. Use to attend a lot, not much lately but went there about a month ago. The wraps are great, and always generous with the fries. Never get sick here! Ordered calamari last time, which was unfortunately a big disappointment. It was all batter, no joke, ALL batter. Always good beer, good service, good company... and love the rooftop in the summer.
The General Will
The food and service have gone downhill in the past year. But it is still a great experience. The place is always packed especially in the summer, mostly by people with laptops. One of my faves.
Jjrrsmith
Service really bad. Used to be better but service is non existent and several times found my tab had extra drinks so avoid a tab if you can
Tyler Walker Young
Say what u want, but they are delicious, probably the only reason i go, the coconut chk sandwich is good but the fish and chips are top notch.
Ken Kwan
Enjoyable. If you dont mind it being a little loud or a little crowded sometimes then the Yard is definitely worth a short. I would hazard to say that there are certain items on the menu that make it worth the insanity when that place is busy.

While I do not much care for their wings I love some of their other dishes. I know some people must think Im crazy for not liking them but its all personal preference. While I may not enjoy the size or the way they do their flavoring that is not to say you or others will not enjoy it incredibly . While its not the healthiest thing on earth I have to say I love their poutine. Its fantastic, while they do use real curds, the mix of gravy and cheese they do use is pleasant and flavorful. I have no had a chance to sample their entire menu yet but I can definably recommend that a person should try either their coconut chicken sandwich or the three cheese chicken sandwich.
Both sandwiches come with juicy well cooked chicken breasts and their respectable buns and toppings and sides.

Despite how busy the Yard can get, service is always prompt polite and extremely helpful. Minus one server, however I think she maybe learning disabled...or ditsy but you cant really fault a restaurant for that at least shes out there working.
Dr.iEat
Nice atmosphere

Food used to be better. Rude staff and non existent service. Overrated

Top 5 Veggie Burger. The Yard is lovable for plenty of reasons.

As a restaurant, one of it's best features is the Sun Burger; a homemade veggies patty with guacamole and their signature pub fries. Great any time of day, all year round.
Kstol
I was craving the chicken curry coconut soup today and wanted my friend to try it as well. Once we sat down, we waited for a server to help us but no one came to our table. Two waitresses stared at me for a good 10 minutes but never came up to our table. There was also a table beside us that got so frustrated from waiting that they purposely spilled ketchup all over their table and left. After a good half hour of being being stared at by the waitresses with NO service, my friend and I left disappointed and angry. Bad service indeed.
Sushilover
Good food!. I ordered the Moon Burger (a veggie burger), and it was one of the best veggie burgers I've had in my life! The bun-to-patty ratio was a little high though, so i ate my burger with just one side of the bun. The fries were not so good though.
Rominey
Best Pub in Saskatoon. Always look forward to coming here.

Have never been disappointed with the food - quite the opposite, I always leave feeling I've had a fantastic meal. I have a friend who used to work in the kitchen as a cook and she told me pretty much everything is made from scratch. Really nice portion sizes , great quality food, and great prices. I love their specials! In my opinion, the best place in Saskatoon. The rooftop deck is great too!
Levack
Good food, limited beer menu.. I remember being taken to this place the first time. I was expecting the typical "pub" food. Boy, was I wrong. The food here is usually amazing. I have almost had every single menu item. Elk and Bison burgers are amazing. The moon burger is tasty as well with sweet potato fries. I love the fish and chips although they come as HUGE portions. Fries are well cooked and have a nice little crunch to them which I personally like. So be prepare to be starving before you go, or take some home.

I have maybe had one or two so-so meals here but considering I dine there quite a bit, it is like a blimp on a radar. I find when I see a huge change over in waitstaff there (which rarely happens) the food sinks a little bit. Once everyone settles in, it is back to its greatness.

The only think that the Yard lacks is beer selection. Which for me is huge. I am use to a pub having a huge selection of beers to try. But don't expect that from the Yard. They have your typical restaurant beers that you will find any where. They push the Guinness, etc. Which is ok but you expect a place like that to carry so much more. And their mixed drinks could be much better.

Overall I love the Yard as a lunch place. Or a place to go with a couple of friends for some wings and when I am in the mood to have a standard Canadian larger. This isn't fancy food, but I generally know when I go to the Yard I am going to leave happy.
J.
Great pub food!. I love eating at The Yard & Flagon. Their menu is different & interesting and all of the dishes are great.

There's a reason they're #1 in Saskatoon!
Grantg
Seemed fine. First time at the Flagon on sunday night, the bar had about 30 people seated and the service was good and quick with friendly waitresses. The elk burger was excellent however a larger selection of beers would be nice.
Some Guy
Some Guy. Probably the best Pub food I've had in Saskatoon. Can't give it a better standing than that ;)

Tasty & Relaxed. Met up with 4 friends on Saturday to enjoy a pint of beer on a sunny afternoon. Good service, great beers and location. We ended up eating and everyone's food, from the calamari to the chicken burger with salsa on it, was very tasty. Will definitely visit again.

Deck is full.... Always! ... Other the seemingly impossible task of actually getting a table, the food is good and the drinks flow..

Food: 7.5
Service: 7
Value: 8
Cost for 2 with tip: $30

Food. Nice pub to hang around with freinds

Seriously!!!. This is soooooo not a pub!!! Not by any stretch of the imagination! It's always loud, the seating is uncomfortable, it's too crowded, and the food is fair at best. A decent pub has comfortable seating, and allows for lots of conversation, not to mention a wide ranging beer selection, and good food.

There are lots of things that Saskatoon does well, but a pub is not one of them -- have to head to the East Coast for that!

Not good anymore. This bar used to be a good dive but unfortunately it has lost its appeal to me. Food has gone down hill and the service is now non existent. The employees have a huge chip on their shoulder and are too cool for themselves. The hours are inconsistent and the atmosphere has been ruined with the attitude. I really don't know what happened. The Yard is now on my list of places that I will not return.

Best Pub in town.. I've always enjoyed the Yard, though it's always so packed it's usually not even worth checking to see if there's a table, but that's a good thing!!! Their soups are always deliciously home made and I've had that elk burger 3 times and loved it. I always smother it in mayo, so I've never had it "too dry to choke down"...??? It's an elk burger, sorry there is no fat juices running down your arms as you eat it. Mmmm, brie and mushrooms?? OH YEAH!! The steak is a hit and miss though.....one year I had the perfect steak there and had the waitress give whomever cooked it, a $5 tip, but then last summer, I ordered a medium rare and it came out burnt......burnt as in, couldn't get the taste of that one bite out of my mouth for hours. That didn't hold me back, though!! I just ordered something else and whatever else I've had, is always up to my satifactions. Steak is a hard thing to order these days, wherever you may be.

I enjoy the yard for pub food. There menu is diverse for a pub and there are a lot of gems. The burgers are good, some of their lunch specials are great.

Love the rooftop deck!. The yard is a great place to go after work or on a Saturday night for some beer and good, cheap food! The service is great and the atmosphere is incredible. I can go from the office wearing a dress or have been playing baseball all afternoon, and yet, I still fit in. I love that it has such an eclectic clientele.

I love the Yard's food. They have the best home made fries and there wings are out of this world!!

Go in the summer. The interior of the Yard is very small but the rooftop deck is great. If the rooftop is not open expect to get there early or you'll be waiting for a table.

They usually have a good selection of beer with some local beers available. The only food I've eaten there is the wings which tend to be on the small side. The wet flavors (ie. teriyaki) seem to be better and more flavorful than the dry flavors (ie. greek).

Wow. On my first night in saskatoon i wanted to drink. only natural so we went to the yard and flagon and it was awsome. service was quick even though it was packed. fries were great (i judge a pub only on the fries) and it had great atmosphere.

Too crowded. Super small crowded place, avoid if claustrophobic.
