Review Park Cafe - Saskatoon

Nice place to have breakfast and lunch or brunch. The quantity is big size, one plate can easily be eaten by two people. The staff is nice and friendly and the food tasted really good. I think the food is good for the price. I would recommend it to have a hearty breakfast on a Sunday. They close by 3-3:30 so you must go at least 1 hour before closing time.

Nice Saturday lunch here. Service: 4.5/5 there were two servers working and they were both good, i wish we had just one regular one Vibe: 4.5/5. Fun memorabilia and diner decor. Food: 4/5. We had the Rueben sandwich with caesar side salad and cobb salad. Overall very fresh, with nice bread. I had the cobb salad years ago and i think portions have decreased, but it still has the real chicken and ham with a nice freshly poached egg Value: 3.5/5 prices are generally good, but upcharging for the sides can drive up the overall price.

Park Cafe Is "The Go To Spot" #1 for brunch typically busy amazing frozen soups to take home, specials that are out of this world food is always fresh staff always welcoming! Food in photo: One of their Specials Scallops in a baked pastry doused with sherry lobster sauce! If that didn't sound good enough know it was cooked to perfection everytime I've had it and it's a go to meal! P.s the eggs benny is phenomial here

The chef is absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, good prices, and they brought out 3 feathers for 3 children having lunch with their parents in the Cafe. It was so sweet! Would definitely return.

Little crowded but there's definitely a reason for it. The food is great and the staff are very friendly. Had the Bacon Lover's breakfast, which is not something I've seen on a menu before but it was well worth it. Good coffee too.
Konni Horne
Best breakfast ever! Bacon Bacon Bacon Lover's breakfast. A very interesting menu. Lots of fantastic choices. Quality food at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend the Park Cafe to everyone.

As soon as I walked in it was like stepping back in time. There also was a man who dressed the part...awesome. Food was amazing and reasonable. Looking forward to going back and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and not to mention the food 😊💯

Best breakfast in the city. Food quality is always fresh and tasty. Staff are always super friendly. Love bringing new customers here to experience an old 50s style diner.
Brian Sherman
Traditional diner with exceptional owners and staff. The food is always marvelous and the service is always 5 star.
Kate Løseth
One of the best restaurants in town and the best diner in town - no competition. I love Park Cafe!
Dan Gold
Not a cheap eat - it's a good eat. If you want the charm of a traditional diner with great staff and food, this is the place for you. Been eating there for a couple of years. I love that it doesn't feel like a generic themed eaterie. Lots of local history on the walls.

Delicious food, courteous staff, comfortable atmosphere, hot bottomless coffee, what more could you ask for ! Go already ;)
Ryan Kendall Brook
Awesome breakfast! Definitely recommend it - fast and hot.

The food was served quick and delicious. Definitely will go back.

Sunday brunch featuring eggs benny was excellent!!!

Ok but was expecting way more after all the hype.
The restaurant was 3/4 full so found a seat easily.
Were greeted immediately. Water and menus brought over quickly and drink orders taken.
Spouse had steak and eggs. Steak was gristly so needed to be cut in small pieces in order to eat. Can't blame them as the steak did look good and can be quite difficult to spot.
I ordered Eggs Benny. I forgot to ask for the eggs to be cooked medium as I hate that slime the often comes with. When I cut into the eggs I was glad I forgot as they were cook pretty well hard. So unfortunately no yolk oozing out.
The hash browns were deep fried with added green onions and peppers. Sadly I was disappointed. Pan fried are the best.
We may try lunch one day. But wouldn't rush back for breakfast again.

A really great find in Saskatoon! Service was friendly, efficient and quick. Food was excellent! I ordered eggs sunny side up and bacon and they cooked to perfection! The bacon was NOT deep fried like some restaurants do (please stop that!), and not greasy. The eggs were worthy of Instagram (haha!) and they were delicious as well. Thank you for a tasty breakfast.
We will definitely return, and recommend Park Cafe to our friends!

Plain simple but never disappointing. I've never been disappointed. The decor is tacky but hey its that diner/cafe feel. The waitress once they know you are a regular is friendly. She has a great memory and wow does she work fast to man that dining room. I always enjoy breakfast food and chicken fingers.

Updated Sept 12 / 2016 (I was banned for this review)

After reviewing The Park Cafe 2 months ago, my friends and I decided to return and see if things had changed since my last review. (You can read my original review if you scroll down... )

Well, we were greeted at the door by the owner who asked us to step outside where he proceed to tell me i was banned from the restaurant ... "because my review was hurting his business and how he had spent 2 hours trying to have it removed". I did mention he knew how to contact me if he had issues with my review and i was willing to revise it if he thought something in it was unfair. He had no reply to that offer.

All i can say about this is - the gospel of small business dictates (A) Listen to what your customers have to say and (B) you're the boss, if your staff is dropping the ball, deal with it. Customers keep the bills paid, not your staff. (and he just lost at least 11 that i can count)

=== Original Review July 5 / 2016 ====

A visit to the Park Café is what I would call “revisiting a small town, fallen on hard times café”… that for some reason makes you feel comfortable. From the moment you enter the restaurant it’s easy to see not much money is spent on maintaining the decor, made obvious by the poorly repaired ceiling tiles. But that just adds to the lonely forgotten small town feel. However, it has one thing a small town café doesn’t have … super clean washrooms with ample hot water to scrub your hands. If there was an award for consistently clean washrooms, this place deserves it. My friends and I have been regular customers at the Park for about 5 years, once or twice a week, and have never been bitten by a dirty washroom.

If you’re looking for good consistent food, this is the place. Although it’s definitely not 5 star dining and has somewhat higher pricing than similar restaurants that have much more “eye appeal”, you won’t be disappointed with what they server. Week to week it always stands up on its own … comfortable, consistent and never pretentious. Just what you would expect if you were back visiting your small hometown café.

As for the service, here I have a small issue. As a regular customer for 5 years, lately there has been a noticeable change in the quality of service. What once was stellar service has been compromised as of late. Back in April one waitress said something offensive to my friend’s wife and then made a rude gesture. My friend and his wife have not returned since, for obvious reasons.

A few weeks ago I was there with 4 friends and the service was horrid - 20 minutes standing outside, another 20 to have the order taken (in a small half full restaurant). The 5 meals didn’t come at the same time - 12 minutes apart and 3 were cold. Add to that - one coffee refill after over an hour of being there. I mentioned it to one waitress who said “we had a busy week and everyone was tired”.

Sorry girls, $90.00 for breakfast ($108.00 with tip)??? … Customers expect good service.

To be fair, I returned a couple of days later to mention this to the owner, who wasn’t in.

I did talk to the female “manager”, but she was rather despondent and showed little to no interest.

The good news is I later talked to the owner, the bad news is… he didn’t really comment on my 2 previously mentioned friends who will never return, nor the day we had super bad service.

Tip: If you do need a waitress, just walk back to the coffee machine where they spend a lot of time joking and laughing.

My observation is this... the food will be good and consistent, the washrooms will always be a welcome stop, but service will depend on whether the staff likes you on the day of your visit.

You be the judge. Take the park for a test drive and draw your own conclusions.

I like to support local small business owners and I do like the owner and his staff.

But there are limits. Any random customer should feel they got what they are paying for when they open their wallet at the till. No one should be an exception.

Update July 6/2016: Female Manager suggests we go to Sami's Sunrise grill if we have issues with the Park Café service.

Originally gave this place a 3, bumping it up to a 3.5 after this second visit. Atmosphere is okay and a bit crowded. I had the cod loin burger with a side salad; the sandwich was good and a very thick cut of fish. Partner had the Reuben, which he enjoyed.

Best french toast in the city! If you're looking for a good start to the day go to Park Cafe for breakfast! You cant go wrong, I come to Park Cafe at least twice a month and am 100% satisfied everytime!!
Ilovefood
I came here for breakfast and it was very good. It's very busy and loud but that's kinda what I expect from a diner place. I can't wait to try some lunch here. Food was fresh, hot, fast & delicious. Can't wait to come back.
Morganmg
Went for breakfast with large group. Really good Ham and eggs. Hashbrowns a little boring, but good with hot sauce. Kids meals priced good for the amount of food. Overall good meal and service for everyone, but I'm not a huge fan of small, crowded cafe atmosphere. Cramped up at the Till, crowded walk to the washroom, the front door opening kept bumping our chair.
Valdís
Had a great breakfast here. The homesteader (pancakes) was hot when it came and the pancakes themselves were nice and fluffy while still being the thickness I like. I had ham with the pancakes and it was decent if a touch salty for my taste. That said I give it an extra .5 because the service was quick, friendly, and helpful.

Great Value for the money. Is like I expected. This is a place to go and eat price is great for what you get. Would go back to eat!! The building itself is set up for a café that you go to have lunch at not a place that I would go to sit for extended stay to socialize. Over all is exactly as I expected and that was pleasing. See notes in my next comment as the last visit not nearly as good as the one I am talking about here
Jzubiak
went last sunday full house but worth the wait. I have been there 3 times for breakfast had the bacon lovers special . the best I had in town and home cooked potatoes is a nice touch. ill keep going back thanks for the great food and staff.
Hungry Critic
Love the dive look great breakfast couldn't comment on rest cause addicted to the eggs Benedict best hollandaise in town. Great spot. Will return
Ashley Lafontaine
The servers display favouritism towards the older gentlemen and seem to forget the other customers . Last three times they have been out of a good handful of things on their menu. Disappointing and not worth the price.

After reading that the Park Cafe and Diner was listed as one of the 52 things that makes Saskatoon great, Jordon and I tried it out. I ordered Jordon a mushroom burger and fries. Oliver had the chicken strips. Our food was up right away, despite it being busy and the food was spectacular. They may make the best burger in town. The food was fresh, home made, and perfectly cooked. The burgers are home made, they bacon is house made and cured, and the fries are hand cut. During the late spring through late fall most of the produce is bought fresh from the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market.

Great spot for breakfast and lunch. Great staff always serving it up fresh. Enjoy my breakfast here in an early fifties environment. Highly recommend this Cafe. It is time well spent.

Nice lunch. Went for lunch with my 3 year old son today and had a great meal. He loves pancakes and got a huge one for only $3.50! The actual kids meal came with more food, but I'm glad we just went with the single pancake because it was more than enough. I had a Monte Cristo, which I had never had before and it was really delicious, with a poutine. With drinks and tip it was $25.00 which is just fine for how good it was. We will definitely go back.

They may make the best burger in town. The food was fresh, home made, and perfectly cooked. The burgers are home made, they bacon is house made and cured, and the fries are hand cut. During the late spring through late fall most of the produce is bought fresh from the Saskatoon Farmer's Market . Despite all of that, I was surprised with how inexpensive our lunch was. As for the service, twice it was noticed that a small detail wasn't perfect with our meal and before we noticed it, it was fixed. In short, it is the kind of restaurant that every neighbourhood wants but few have. Luckily it's within
Jennifer.f.wong
Best brunch in Saskatoon!. The deep fried grilled cheese sandwich is a must! Being deep friend, it's a little heavy, but sharing it at the table is a good way to stop yourself from falling into an early food coma early in the day! Service is good, but watch out the place is busy on weekends, come early!
Facebook User
Consistently exceptional service. The service here is unreal with some of the friendliest staff in Saskatoon. the hash browns are amazing as well as all of the food!
Idrivealone
Awesome!!!. Best eggs benny in town.fresh food, knowledgeable staff and, classic 50's decor.i would highly recommend Park cafe to anyone!
Mousey12
- a bit pricey. First trip to the park cafe . Ordered a mozza burger , no coffee.
The burger and fries were very good but the price of $13.50 is too much. There are burgers and chips just as good for lower prices in Saskatoon--I will go those places.
Kim Burfoot
Toast and a tossed salad does not count as "Vegan Friendly". This listing needs to be changed.
Sebastian
I've eaten here before and loved it. However the last couple of times the quality has really slipped. Not sure I would recommend it anymore. Just an average joint now.
W4y2cr4zy
Love it. God i love this place. Has the best chicken burger, and the onion rings are to die for. Everything is hand made with love and you can tell. The service is good and quick, but it does get busy fast. So big parties should come early unless you wanna wait. If you want something great get a chicken burger with hickory cheddar and back bacon. It is the best! Always what I get. The deep fried grilled cheese and park burger are also great! We come back over and over.
Brinnaolsen123
Kinda Bland, Will give it another try.. It was very bland, not real sure why Anyone would rate this very highly. Really confusing. So many good things said about this place. We will likely give it another try next time we are in Saskatoon.
Doublej
Never again, server wasn't bad but as soon as we got our meal we didn't exist. The Denver looked good but stay away from the Rubin

Busy, noisy.... ...and just a terrific breakfast! The eggs benedict special this morning with fried potatoes was delicious. My husband enjoyed his eggs and peameal bacon. Service is swift and the coffee is good. A hot spot in Saskatoon for good reason.
MiboEbo
My friend took me here this morning. We are from out of own and always looking for good places to eat. What a gem! Great good and fantastic service! Will definitely bring my husband here next time we are in Saskatoon!
Janine
I think about the Monte Cristo on a weekly basis! Why is is soooo good? Gawd now I want one even more!!!
BigGreenEgg69
Heard great great things about this place but sadly found one of the waitresses to be very rude. The food was okay, nothing special.... And the restaurant seems quite dirty. I enjoy the authentic and vintage diner experience but needs a thorough cleaning.

CASmutt
This is a cool place with a really good chef. Nice breakfast place.
Meika
Get the deep fried grilled cheese. It is amazing. Too delicious for words. The gravy on the poutine is perfect, they use 2 cheese on it but not curds. Onion rings are delicious with the perfect batter. Great atmosphere, great staff. I'd recommend it to anyone. It sucks they close at 4 though.
Catlin R
As usual, the Park Cafe was stellar.

Super casual and genuine atmosphere, which I love almost as much as their burgers. Best in the city, of course.

-----07 Sep, 2013-----

Awesome. Best hamburgers and french fries in the city. There only ever seems to be one waitress running the joint but she's pretty good at what she does. Gets busy so come early!
SaskSheri
They use the most awesome meat (no nitrites or anything) I had the deep fried grill cheese (you should split this with someone) they don't skimp on the cheese that's for sure. Love this little place
Foodie19
Best eggs benedict ever!. By far the most delicious place to eat breakfast/brunch.
The eggs benedict is truly amazing!
APT
Old Diner Atmosphere. What an interesting cafe! So much to look at while you're dining. Small and cosy with friendly staff. And....really yummy Eggs Bennies! I had the Crab and Asparagus, while my friend had the Smoked Salmon. We both enjoyed them very much. My husband had the French Toast and he claims it was the best he's had. Definitely will go there again.

I will be a regular for a long time to come!. I have been frequenting Park Cafe for the 5 years that I have lived in Saskatoon. The decor is very simple and classic, which may come off as tacky to some, but this place does not need to be fancy. The food is homemade and comforting, the staff is warm and friendly, and the place is always busy. They make their own bacon, sausage and hollandaise, among other things. That's enough to keep me coming back.

If you want a hearty breakfast brunch or lunch, this is definitely a place to check out.
Chuck23
Really good breakfasts. Really good breakfast in Saskatoon. It is totally worth the drive and the wait for a table. Really nice, fresh ingredients. I think it is the best breakfast place in Saskatoon.
Marlie Chovin
So good.
Good Food
Organized and friendly. Very small cafe which can mean a bit of a wait for a table sometimes. Well worth the wait! The staff seem to always have things under control, are efficient, and friendly. Usually too busy for them to chat with you for long, but they treat you like guests, the way a good establishment should. I have yet to have a bad meal there ... everything comes to the table hot, pleasing to the eye, and delicious! No mass production here. By far, the best Monte Cristo sandwich in Saskatoon, made with real turkey, not that watery pressed garbage that I've had elsewhere on so many occasions. I can't recommend any one sandwich, breakfast, or meal from their menu. Just order whatever you're really in the mood for, and you will be satisfied! It's all good!
*Almost forgot to mention ... the best Vegi Burger in town, too!
RyeGuy
Love this place! The best place in town for eggs benedict. Love the diner decor.
Restauranteur
Meh. Hashbrowns are tasty. Hollandaise is totally tasteless, i was so looking forward to it too. The servers are nice and cheery...usually. The seats are super duper uncomfortable but i suppose that keeps the customers from sitting too long. All in all its a pretty good place but room for improvement. I usually go between here and the broadway cafe.
James
Wonderful food and quick friendly service. Ok, so the decor is not the most up to date? Who cares? You can get an abso-freaking-lutely delicious breakfast for 7 bucks. The waitress is always polite and friendly, but sincere. The food is to die for. Everything is perfectly cooked. I highly recommend the french toast.
Tracy VB
Great Breakfast!. This is where I love to go for breakfast on the weekends. The food is great and the service is friendly. My eggs are always cooked just the way I like them. It gets a little busy sometimes, but it's worth the wait. If you havn't tried this place, you're missing out!
Jesse Rondeau
The eggs benedict is the best. Love this greasy spoon!
Natalie Desrosiers
Fast service, grabbed the last table before the bar filled and the line up Started. Coffee was never empty, server extremely knowledgeable and eager to answer our questions. Food was outstanding. My first taste of REAL peameal bacon. We will be back again and again
Ryan Schmidt
Excellent food, service, and decent price but totally worth it. Everyone needs to come here. Forget Cora's!
Lenore
For an average breakfast, this place is great. I agree the prices are high for how average the food is. It seems the appeal is for the yuppies dreaming of 20th street being as industrious as it once was.
ChrisR
Burgers were awesome!. We just ate there for lunch and it was awesome! Great work!
Mouse Hates Peeks
Seriously you like this place? Basic bacon and eggs? The Benny wasn't all that great cheap at most with a scoop of hashbrowns. Husband had hot hamburger which was a burger patty with gravy and onions on it? Way too much garlic he was burping it up all day?
Purplemonkeydishwasher
Smoked Salmon Bagel with Capers. To die for. I love it. Try it.. AMAZING
Uncannycanuck
Deep Fried Grilled Cheese. Yes, it's exactly as good as it sounds. The soup is clearly made from scratch, which is lovely.
Calgarygourmand
Fantastic. One of the best diners I have ever been to. Food is tasty, portions are generous, and service is friendly and efficient. I consider myself a Reuben sandwich expert (I've had many, many Reuben sandwiches in many different places around North America), and I can honestly say they make the best Reuben I have ever had. I've never been to a place that makes their own corned beef like Park Cafe, and the beef here is absolutely outstanding. Also worthy of note are the burgers (huge) and the poutine.
Tyrone
Great Sandwiches!. The Monte Cristo that I had was outstanding along with the home made soup! My wife had the Rueben, with the cool swirly bread - I'll be trying that next time. She said the fries were awesome.
The staff was down to earth, friendly and extremely helpful. We WILL be going back! I think I just found my new most favourite diner in Saskatoon!
Mkadollar
Bad location. The food was average for a greasy spoon nothing special decor dated and area sucks panhandlers and drunks on the street ... unsafe location not worth the trip.
Emily M. Kohlert
I dream about the French toast every night. I think it's called Bridge Party. It's the most delicious thing ever. I love this place a lot as its one of my all time favorites. A bit pricey but it's nice to go out for a nice breakfast or brunch sometimes.
Emmy
Wonderful. It's places like this that are making Riversdale more awesome to shop in and pass through. Awesome food, fast service and always friendly.

Get their hashbrowns!
Gp Capt Beef Taco
Why?. I can't understand why people like this place so much.
The food was pretty good, but the prices were a bit steep, and the location leaves something to be desired.

I loved the duct-tape on the ripped seats, it really adds to the ambiance.
Levack
Amazing Food.. I want to say I love that this place is on 20th. Gives it a lot of character. I went here for lunch and got the deep fried grilled cheese sandwich. So freaken good. But deep fried anything is good right?

Everyone else I was with liked their food as well, french toast and eggs benedict with salmon. I thought the prices were spot on for what I was getting and didn't pay much more for breakfast/lunch there than I do at Broadway Cafe.

My only complaint (if any) is I wish they would renovate their seats. Nothing else, just the seating because I sank into a hug seat grove in one of their bench seats. And it was a little uncomfortable having a spring poking my ass.
Ssparkles
Quick, tasty breakfast. LOVE the addition of peppers and onions to the hashbrowns. Neighborhood isn't the greatest but I've never had a problem. Been here 3-4 times and have never been disappointed!
Gemma
So Awesome!. Pretty much the last place on earth with home made burgers that come with adequate condiments! Breakfast is delicious and prices reasonable. About three hundred percent tastier and less pretentious than poached.
Ryan
Awesome spot. Have been here to eat twice with my girlfriend, breakfast and lunch were both excellent. Prompt service, great value, and awesome home-made style food.
Some Guy
Some Guy. Went for breakfast here today and I LOVED IT!!! The normal menu was what you'd expect of a greasy-spoon diner, but they had a couple items that were quite intriguing. My table had the usual bacon and eggs, french toast, etc which they all said they really liked, and I had the special (Steak Neptune) and it was amazing! The only real gripe I have about the place is that it was small, so finding a table can be difficult, and our waitress forgot our pie (due most likely to how busy it was). Overall, though, I would definately recommend it and go back!
Becky9
Delicious food, terrible location. It's really a shame this place is on 20th, the kind of people that hang around outside make it really uncomfortable.

Once inside however - it's a pretty sweet little (TINY) diner. Get there early, it fills up really quickly. I went with a group of friends and got a table as soon as we walked in. Quick service, nice sized menu but not so large it's hard to decide.

I had the french toast with ham and hashbrowns - I think it's the best French Toast I've ever had. Very light and fluffy with powdered sugar. Ham was fresh ham, not packaged luncheon meat or anything. Potatoes were cooked well, would've liked a little cheese on them maybe. Another friend ordered the same with bacon instead of ham and loved the bacon - salted just right and not overpowering.

Another friend had the double decker grilled cheese and enjoyed it - the gravy for his fries was real and not packaged so was very flavourful.

Last meal on the table was a reuben sandwich - I didn't try it, but it looked delicious. Even was served on pumpernickel bread.

I'll continue to go back sporadically as the food was delicious, but I don't care for the location. I hope the owners read these reviews and consider moving to a new location - even if it's a small diner the size they're already in.
Psydeath
Good food. Have been here twice and the food for me was quite good. Had a BLT with their beef bacon and onion rings. The BLT was good because that beef bacon is amazing. Their onion rings are really fresh and have a good amount of seasoning, they just melt. The other time I had their park burger and it was quite good. The state of the restaurant leaves a bit to be desired. The seats are all torn up and everything is just a little bit old.
Jessie Stolar
Can't believe this place is so popular. First let me say I'm a dude and I'm a dude who will eat pretty much anything and I've never been picky my whole life. To put this bluntly, I almost puked after eating their Eggs Benedict. It was sour and when I told the waitress she just gave me attitude and walked away. This happened two months ago, so I can't remember the entire horrible experience but I do know I won't be going back there any time soon and I usually give a restaurants more then one chance.

The friends I was with, spoke very highly of Park Cafe but they also had a bad breakfast as well. I tried some of my friends sausages and "yuck". For the price this place charges, it should be nicer inside with proper reno's and better service. I would rather go to Mel'sdinner and pay far less and eat 100% better breakfast.
Dlagery
Great Diner. What a nice little place to find in the city. Food is delicious. Hashbrown's are so good. Love the breakfast. Our Kids love it here.
Chiusview
Not Gluten-free friendly. Whoever wrote a review about this place as being gluten-free friendly was WRONG. The chef there has no idea why people have posted that it was. The staff were friendly and the chef even offered to google GF resteraunts in the city for us (we were visiting for the day). Was very busy and the dishes looked full of burgers and fries...a good looking greasy spoon if that is what you are looking for. The seating is a little crammed, so not the best for families with little ones.
Chantelle Bauml
Eggs Benedict was great. Only had to wait a few min for a table. I like the idea they are going for with the decor but it could use a but if an upgrade and paint job. Very good service.
Jennifer
Great Breakfast. My nephew suggested this place when I was in Saskatoon for a family wedding. The restaurant is a funky diner (something like Sophies Cosmic Cafe in Vancouver). Our breakfast was outstanding, our waitress fun, and our coffee cup never runneth empty (which you want for a Saturday breakfast). The owner Patrick was checking on all the patrons. Everyone was happy in the restaurant...as evidenced by the lineup to get in. I wish I could've tried lunch. Next time!!! For some reason the review comes up as I don't like it. THIS IS INCORRECT!
Dave Reiter
The service was great and the food was even better. My daughter told me about the cafe and everytime I'm in stoon I try to eat there

Hangover Cure. This blows away every other diner in Saskatchewan.
Flavour Country
Very Good Food. Though the burger is excellent and the onion rings are scratch and unreal fresh, and the space is unique, there are other diners and burgers in the city that surpass the Park Cafe in taste and quality. Mel's Diner and Kelly's Cafe burgers are better in my very experienced burger opinion.
Matt
Tasty Burger. We went for the first time last night, based on reviews from this website. When we got there there were only 2 other people in the cafe, so for those who don't like to wait the evening may be a better time to go. My wife and I both ordered the deluxe burger. The burger is quite seasoned, giving it a different flavour which I enjoyed but my wife didn't. The waitress suggested that next time she try the children's burger, which isn't seasoned. The service was good, and the bathroom was spotless.
LL
Awesome diner food.. My partner and I had lunch here a couple weeks ago for the first time and were impressed by our sandwiches we had. Will be back soon to try breakfast!
AndyRestaurantCritic
Bad place. People are crazy to come here and pay the rude $$$. Go else where to have a good breakfast and have triple the food for the money.
A Chef's Review
Park Cafe. I had the traditional breakfast with my family today, the eggs were perfectly cooked (very important) bacon was good as well. Price was fair. Service was prompt but unfriendly. Would go there again for the food.

Amazing. Good Standard Breakfast!! Never been able to get away from the classic, but hope to try the salmon sometime. Good prices too!

The staff is always great and the food is hot and cooked and great. I love bring my grandson to the cafe. the twin's are great fun.. you must come meet those two ladies
SailorFood
The park burger is the best burger I've ever tasted. I was highly disappointed with the breakfast... It isn't worth the price. But I always go back for the burger!

Classic Diner. Classic diner food at classic diner prices. Try the beef bacon, its delicious!

$$ !!. Just knowing that price I don't think I would be stepping into that place, it sound like a good place hiding in a wierd locations and interesting to try, but when I hear that
people say it's too expensive then no cause I could spen $30 on something more filling and enjoying.

WAY too expensive!!! $$$$$. Not impressed at all! $32.95 for 2 park burgers and 2 iced teas!!! They actually charged for pickles on one of the burgers! The burgers were dry and over cooked, and the bbq sauce on them is disgustingly sweet, and I'm not a fan of the giant greasy onion ring on a burger. Definitely won't be back.

It's about time I got to reviewing this place.. Though I abruptly ended writing reviews some time ago, I surely did not stop eating. So it is time to review one of the more difficult subjects I have taken on, the Park Cafe and Diner on 20th Street.
Needless to say, going there with the family for the first time was a shade uncomfortable. Having to explain the junkie on a porch and the reasons to never touch dirty needles to a three year old as a matter of having brunch is never a comforting experience.
Thankfully, the food made up for it . So much so that we have visited there many times since.
My wife gushes over the traditional Eggs Benny. Though the Park Cafe never met an egg they did not cook perfectly and the homemade back bacon is something of a delight, I did have a minor problem with their hollandaise, not major enough for me to not order it, but significant enough to mention: Far too acidic for my tastes.

Many of my contemporaries gush about the Park Burger, how it is the best in town. And flavour-wise, they might be on to something. The smoked cheddar and the beef bacon are ridiculously good accoutrements to the pattie and great BBQ sauce.
However, I have yet to eat a Park Burger that I did not find a shade dry. Since I know that they purchase pure ground chuck from a local farmer, it seems that they could do a shade better. I used the same beef to make burgers on Super Bowl Sunday, and I can say with no false modesty that my burgers were far superior to those at the PC, in no small part because they were closer to medium-medium well. By no measure should a quality beef product like they purchase be cooked that well done.

I totally love the 'Death By Cheese' sandwich. A word to the wise: Split this and a Park Burger with someone else. This is the only time in history where a burger can be the light snack balancing a meal! Trying to eat this thing on your own is not for the meek or the calorie-conscious. In fact, it is not for anyone who considers their cardiovascular health a top priority.
But damn it is good. Get it with ham.

I could review a few other items, but I picked three which are most commonly spoken of. By no measure should my quibbles be taken as a rebuke. In the case of the hollandaise, it might be personal tastes. In the case of the burgers, well, they are catering to a Canadian clientele irrationally put off by the idea of properly cooked burgers.
I would still recommend those items, and a host of others, that the Park Cafe has to offer. Easily one of Saskatoon's best little diners, if not the best.

Today has my stomach smiling. I haven't been back here in a long time after some very unfortunate breakfasts, however the Park burger that I had today had given them new life in my eyes. Crispy bacon, slightly spicy sauce, and melted cheese have tamed the beast that is my hunger. I say well done.

Great Food. This is a great place on 20th for breakfast. Had the Denver sandwich with hashbrowns and it was one of the best I've had. My partner had french toast with bacon and the slices of bread were huge! I want to go back and try the burgers sometime -- I've heard good things about them.

Great Breakfast!!. I love going to Park Cafe. They have a great menu and are very reasonably priced. I like ordering the the rye bread with their eggs and the fresh fruit cup (which comes with) is a great side!

$$$. The park cafes food is rather delicious but I feel like it might not be worth the price. I think since its good reviews in planet s they have really jacked up the prices. I still have enjoyed my food but I dont think $18 is an appropriate for a standard eggs Benedict and a bit of potatoes and veggies.

Keep comin back. I go there every week and have never been dissapointed.

You gotta love the all day breakfast - Eggs Benny is definately my favorite, but their Working Man's Breakfast (Steak and Eggs) is great too - you get to choose your cut of steak - Sirloin, Striploin, Ribeye, or Filet.

Their Sandwiches are fantastic. I especially like their Ruben, made with home-made corned beef, or their Monte-Cristo.

All in all, a great down to earth diner with fantastic homemade food.

Greatest hollandaise I've ever tasted but it didn't make up for the lack luster meal. Fiancé was really dissappointed and said everything was dry, and he's not the picky one. Cool retro atmosphere but for the price of the meals extremely dissappointed. I thought diners were supposed to be affordable, not hotel restaurant food prices.

Best Diner in Saskatoon. Seriously, I couldn't say enough good things about the food at the park cafe. I can't help but order the same thing every time I go (Italian portobello sandwich) because its just so good - one day I may try something new. The homemade soups are to die for, and the menu has so many vegetarian options - so nice to see. Its a tiny diner so you can expect a wait sometimes, but it is well worth it. One day I hope I will have room after my meal to try the pie!

A Genuine Diner. What Broadway Cafe attempts to capture with decor and contrived atmosphere, Park Cafe delivers through genuine authenticity. Our trips to Park Cafe have been impressive, with stellar food without any pretentiousness.
Everything is done tremendously well. The omelettes are delicious, and the choice of ingredients provide nice variety. My Park Burger was fantastic, although perhaps not your thing if you dislike bbq sauce. The food is obviously prepared with pride, and thought has been put into the simplest ingredients, such as great breads and cheeses. A simple side dish of toast and jam is made special by using a unique marbled rye for example.

The prices are reasonable, and any place that offers three varieties of root beer is okay in my book. The staff are incredibly friendly, and you can tell they like coming to work. It is a quaint diamond in the rough (part of town). It is definitely the place for a weekend afternoon.

Location, location, location. I love the food here, and would go all the time if it wasn't in such a crappy location. Way too many incidences of sketchy events related directly to the location. Otherwise, I love the food and their whole concept.
