Review Poached Breakfast Bistro - Saskatoon

Joloraine Naeg
Delicious! I ordered the classic eggs Benny with a side of creamy hash brown cakes. It took an exceptionally long time (almost an hour, that I had to replenish parking) to get our food though for something that more than half the room was probably ordering the same thing that they’d be just cooking and flying out the door (ie. eggs Benedict). Always super busy so try to go before 1030 to get a table without waiting.

Overall good, but with some flaws. First, I ordered "The Stacker", and by its name and description, I expected something more substantial than what I received. The "stack" was more like a small mound, and there wasn't much food. It also came with 4 slices of bread which I felt was unnecessary, and simply a way to fill you up without giving you much substance. The food itself tasted pretty good, but nothing particularly interesting. Secondly, we had a relatively large group which they were nice enough to accommodate. However, since many of us ordered the same thing, the waitress was very rude when I tried to verify with her if she was giving me my order (I asked for an extra runny yoke on my poached egg, but other people ordered theirs medium). She insisted the one she brought out was mine, but lo and behold, I cut into the poached egg and the yolk is cooked all the way through. I don't know why she was being so unnecessarily stubborn. Credit where credit is due, the interior design is excellent.

Best brunch in Stoon, great coffee, super clean and tidy, service can't be beat. All the girls are friendly as can be. Busy place and staff is doing a good job keeping up during this current labour shortage.

Poached is probably the cutest, coziest restaurant in Saskatoon. This super narrow restaurant does fabulous breakfast food. We spent a good (almost) three hours at the restaurant, eating and drinking and catching up. It was such a warm environment, we didn’t want to leave! The fresh pressed orange juice (read Mimosa) is so good. We also did lattes and then finally breakfast. The crab cakes were good. And my friend liked her eggless omelette. But my FAVOURITE item in the menu has to be the potato croquettes. This place is great for an intimate meal. Or maybe you could score the booth and have a few more people! FYI: The restaurant isn’t wheelchair friendly, as the bathroom is downstairs.

Great place for breakfast. It was quite busy the day we went, they took our number and called back once it was available. Very friendly service and great breakfast place. I suppose you can go for brunch as well. We ordered butternut crunch, Bailey’s banana bread french toast and peanut butter hot chocolate; delicious and definitely worth trying.

Was excited to try another downtown breakfast place. We ended up waiting almost 50 minutes for food, and when we received it 3/4 plates were cold. At almost $20 a plate for breakfast I definitely expected more. The flavour were good but nothing to write home about. Unfortunately I was thoroughly disappointed

Absolutely lovely breakfast spot. Fantastic food and coffee with great service.

This might be one of my new favorite breakfast spots in town! They make a scrumptious Eggs Benedict and their Matcha Latte, well.....bring me another please☆☆☆☆☆☆

Poached is always a solid choice. I usually go for the shrimp and crab cake dish, but I’ve never been disappointed by a meal here. They have great bevvies too. The space is small though and very popular, so be ready for a wait on most days of the week.

Used to love this place and would make sure to drop in for a great breakfast every time I'm in town. This time I brought my son (10) and we agreed to sit at a high top table and ordered. After realizing that neither of us would eat comfortably at that table as the stools are too low I asked POLITELY if we could move as I saw 2 tables exit and we had clearly hit the end of the breakfast rush. I was once a server (5 years or so) so whenever I make an annoying and high-maintenance request I am super apologetic. I was cut off mid sentence asking if we could take another table where we could eat comfortably and told that because I ordered already we would be forced to feel like 5 year olds while we ate. I then got our order to go and happily left no tip (1st time I've done that). Also, I had the opportunity to try Hometown Diner on 20th and the food blew Poached out of the water! I almost feel sick after eating Poached eggs benny compared to Hometown. Not to mention they understand who the customer is and that they should be able to at least eat comfortably.

Having been a short order cook in a breakfast restaurant, I can be admittedly picky when dining at such an establishment. Poached consistently hits the ball out of the park. I’m an early riser, so I always get a table; the service has always been good...but the food! Thank you for draining your perfectly cooked poached eggs! It’s a pet peeve when a poached egg is swimming in a sea of cooking water. And even worse if it’s part of an eggs Benedict and the water has then soaked into the English muffin. But I digress - the food is great. If you like breakfast out, go here. Be prepared to wait if you can’t get there early.

The one and only real issue right off the hop with this place is that they take phone numbers for call backs instead of serving the people waiting in line at the restaurant which seems a bit backwards. Either take call in reservations or serve the people in line. Food and coffee were amazing... service was great but that wait!!! I understand the thought process of calling people back but it totally sucks for the people waiting....Gotta figure that out

All I can say is show up early before opening. That way you have a table. Food was amazing and so delicious and fresh. I'm definitely going to be back
Pdxfoodie
Disappointed. The menu is creative and portions are appropriate. Service was fine, but overall experience was poor. Also, no drip coffee, so if you enjoy a couple of cups of coffee with your breakfast you will be charged for ‘refills’. <br/>Not likely to return.

Fine Dining for Breakfast! What an awesome place! I've always wanted to go here since I've been reading raving reviews of this place. What a gem 💎 Greeted and served by the friendliest, beautiful ladies🌹 and served a scrumptious awesome tasting mushroom and asparagus omelet and a poached eggs on shrimp and crab cakes, with a soft and toasty bagel with herbed cream cheese and a tasty and satisfying Americano. What a great way to start the day! The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. Was not crowded like most days I guess because it was a Tuesday at 8:30ish in the a.m. I highly recommend this place to anyone and their prices are very reasonable 😊👍👍👍

The food is always amazing and never disappoints. There can be a bit of a wait if you come too late but it's definitely worth waiting for. My favorite breakfast spot in the city! <br/>

I have been to Poached a few times and have always loved the food! It is a great brunch place and their drinks are good too. Try to get there early to make sure you get a spot.

This was a great find! Nice little place, very busy, great atmosphere and friendly service.<br/>We waited nearly an hour for a table for 3 (it may be faster if it's a party of 2 as most tables are small), but it was worth it. A bit pricey for me, but it was a nice treat nonetheless. <br/>I ordered classic 1/2 egg Benedict (peameal bacon, gruyere cheese, herb hollandaise sauce on English muffin), with tomato salad (cherry tomatoes with yogurt, pesto and parmesan cheese shavings), and a side of potato croquettes (mashed with herbs, topped with goat cheese). Everything was so delicious, I even forgot about the long wait!<br/>A must try in Saskatoon, for sure.

What a gem! We are so lucky a place like this exists in Saskatoon. Service was fantastic. Hands down thee best brunch I have had anywhere. Their green tea latte is outta this world!!! I ran in today just to get one to go:)

This place is an absolute gem. I usually order some eggs benedict variant and always wind up with a side of bacon roll-ups. Atmosphere is great, wait staff are excellent and the food is consistently good.

This was our second time coming to Poached and we were excited to return!<br/><br/>We ordered the same meals but were quite disappointed. After hearing the fire alarm go off in the kitchen, my spouse was handed a very burnt Cinnamon Bun French Toast. My 1/2 order of Butternut Squash Eggs Benedict came very over seasoned with cayenne. Enough so that I needed to drink my entire latte and glass of water to manage the heat!<br/><br/>We may return a third time to see if it was just a new cook or a bad day. But when we pay $40 for breakfast we expect a little better!!!

Poached is my favourite breakfast place in Saskatoon!! It has the best eggs Benedict in town next to Park cafe! I'd give them 5 if they had some good hash browns(hint):)
Kevin Woo
This is a great breakfast spot as there aren't a lot of options in the city. A tad on the pricey side for what you get. Also, they don't take reservations which can be a bit annoying. Overall a good experience.
Jaimiee7
By far, my favourite breakfast place. Not only is the venue very unique with different art shown every time I've gone, but the food is also very unique and you can tell there is a lot of effort behind the menu. I recommend this place every chance I get and have tried almost everything on the menu so far. Definitely need to come at night to try Flint as well!
Alla Mahina
This used to be my favourite brunch spot.. about a year ago. Over my last few visits here, however, I was not very impressed. The food has gone way downhill (my potato croquets came out burnt) and the prices are inflated. Service is decent, but I wouldn't come back here again. I also do not understand why they got rid off their greens salad and replaced it with 3 to 4 tomatoes with blue cheese instead.. maybe they are trying to save on the cost? Who knows. <br/><br/>Either way, there are way better brunch spots in the city.. Truffles, for example.

Wow… What an awesome bistro Poached is! We've been here a few times, and they just keep getting better and better, always changing the menu, great service and it absolutely charming little bistro in the middle of downtown Saskatoon. It also changes into a really fun bar at night, with great drinks, service, and ambiance! It's called Flint ... We highly recommend both of them, check it out it's of the hottest spots in Saskatoon. Will be back Darcy & Don Aberdeen ❤️🍷👍

Never a disappointment when we come dine in for breakfast , we enjoy the maple bacon roll ups x 2 and poached egg over crab cakes with bagel and dill cream cheese ! The best customer service every time . We even added the cinnamon French toast to share , everything tasted perfect ❤️ Highly recommended , thank you
Jane Revae McWhirter
Poached is delicious and offers a large variety of items. It's a great place to go for a fancy breakfast or brunch. The atmosphere is nice.
KChang5296
Great brunch place. I and my girlfriend had to wait for almost half an hour, but, was worth the wait. Try their eggs Benedict and maple Bacon roll. This place is a little pricey, but I just love the food.
Kayla
Amazing food, good ambience. I don't know what anyone is saying about service its good for being such a busy popular spot. Go early if you don't want to wait!
Ashley Lafontaine
This place has a good breakfast but after going a couple times it just becomes underwhelming. It is a little over priced for what you get because it isn't that special. The hot drinks usually come out warm . The service is okay but could be better ! Over all it's okay .
Valdís
I think the ambiance is trying for relaxed and it is to a certain extend but they're just so busy it doesn't feel like the sort of place you can linger at which is too bad.  I think this is what contributes to the service being unpredictable in terms of making you feel rushed and as if you're imposing on the server's time, or not. I enjoy the food here.  The eggs are always well done never runny or over cooked.  The maple bacon has a great maple flavour.  I don't go here too often because it does have smaller portions which I don't find completely filling.

Very strange ambience. Felt like a entered the wrong restaurant. Had eggs Benedict. It was very good would recommend to anyone. Way overpriced though. Decent service.

Great little breakfast joint. Food is fresh, plating is clean and tasteful. Dishes were delicious. Very impressed overall. Waitress forgot to bring me a knife - but these are small things. Highly recommend.

Favourite brunch spot!! Food is absolutely delicious and usually great, friendly service. I'm a regular here, and there was only one time when our waiter was rude (I haven't seen her there since). Highly recommend <br/>1) eggs benedict <br/>2) maple bacon roll ups<br/>3) chai latte <br/><br/>Also best place to take someone on a date! ;)
Candace
One of the best places to have brunch with a couple people. Quaint and intimate but also bright and refreshing. Food is always good and service is decent. Try the breakfast plate, you get to try a number of items including the breakfast roll ups (delicious). Expect to wait a while to get in though. It's always very busy.
Sarah L
The food is always the same, more or less good. The service is a bit dodgy at times with rude servers. The service ruined it for me so I won't be back again. The server asked us why we didn't tip for one of the meals for our party, and tried to force a tip out of us.
Brooke
I have never had a bad experience here! All the menu items are tasty and fresh. The bacon roll ups are a must to order. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating. The coffees and teas are rich, yet not too sweet. The jazz in the background and art on the walls makes Poached have a delightful atmosphere. My favorite breakfast place in saskatoon!
Halnic
I've been to poached twice now. I had the eggs benny without an English muffin and with asparagus instead. I also had the london fog here and it is delicious! The herbed hollandaise sauce is amazing. Great service both times I've been. We will definitely come back again.
Bluewaves12
I've been here twice and have been happy both times. I've tried the Eggs Benedict as well as the crepes, and both were amazing! My friend and I also shared the Pecan and Maple Syrup Bacon Rollups; so different but so delicious! Best London Fogs in the city!
Alex
Favorite breakfast place in the city. Bene is fantastic and the maple pecan bacon rolls are to die for. Service can be slower (albiet very friendly) at times but let's face it, that's not why you're going here.
Brittany
This place is a gem. The Poached over Crab Cakes is one of those dishes that you treat yourself too. I also enjoy the Peperonata & Chorizo Omelet. Just tasty!

Terrible Customer Service!. It's almost like they are annoyed that you are asking for a table. Like, I could understand annoyance if I showed up with my 2 screaming children, portable high chairs, packed bags full of diapers, wipes, puffs, bibs, baby food etc etc etc. But for once I was out all cleaned up and nicely groomed, with 2 equally clean and groomed adults. I was told that a table for 3 would be 30 min. Checked in around the 30 min mark and it was another 10 min, then another 10 min, then another. Finally seated after over an hour. I just always find staff very irritated and less than friendly. Won't be going back, even though their Eggs Benny is lovely.
Tara Nichols
Met a group of 5 there, no reservations allowed and were asked to 'go elsewhere for coffee' while we waited for a table as there isn't room to wait inside for that many people. We left and did not return, incredibly rude!
Swgoodseed
They changed the menu. My first experience was fantastic so when I went back 4 months later, I was excited. They Changed the Menu! My yummy rhubarb crepes with the yogurt whip cream were gone. I settled for the ricotta crepes... such a disappointment. I don't eat eggs but I still like to go for breakfast. The menu is limited so I will definitely think twice before going back.<br/><br/><br/>-----20 Feb, 2015-----<br/><br/>I'm not fancy but this place is. Parking is a pain. The restaurant is very small. So, when I was asked for my cell # and had to go and wait in my car to be called I wasn't surprised. However, not a lot of fun on a cold winter morning. <br/>It was so worth the wait! I'm pretty fussy when it comes to breakfast but the Crepes with the yummy Yogurt Whip Cream...so amazing I wanted to rush back the following weekend. The prices are a little on the high end and I can be a little price sensitive but I am looking forward to going back.
Rob Wagner
Overpriced, underwhelming. My wife and I decided we were going to splurge on what appeared to be a somewhat 'fancy' breakfast experience, and were left quite underwhelmed.<br/><br/>The prices were higher than most of the places around, yes, and the restaurant had a bit of a stuffier atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was quite bland (I had poached eggs on crab cakes, she had eggs Benedict on English muffin)... typically, with such an atmosphere, I had hoped for some kind of bold flavors - instead I had to season the food to get any flavor at all.<br/><br/>I was happy with my chai latte, but my wife (who consumes coffee of all types like it is going out of style) barely made it through her Americano.

I would rather go to church, then go back to this Bistro. The food was terrible, the service was terrible and creepy, and you could still smell the after hours of the night club well eating breakfast. at one point I wasn't sure if I ate a cigarette butt or a hash brown. note to self bar / breakfast Bistro is a terrible idea
Brad Will
Great breakfast spot!. The atmosphere and friendly service are welcoming. Coffe is great. The dishes, ranging from sweet to savoury have always been good (I've been a number of times). A very nice place to begin your day.
Kalyn1956
The Best. Went for breakfast. FANTASTIC!!!! Had the Eggs Benedict it was perfect. Excellent service. Will go back soon.
Nadine
Coffee is shockingly bad. eggs alright. Went for my birthday last week. Was excited as I heard good things about this place and thought they would have decent coffee and food.. cappuccino..... that is not how you make a cappuccino!!! don't know what the heck that was. burnt coffee with foam on top. rubbish!! could barely drink it so burnt and gross. . Crab cakes DEEP FRIED!!!! I mean fried through and through. DISAPPOINTING!!! a nice restaurant I am expecting fresh meals not deep fried crap. ew, expect that at McDonalds, not at a nice café... Had tummy ache all day as it was so full of grease. poached egg was pretty good with the capsicum sauce. wouldn't go back.

Food was Disappointing and Customer Service Rude. We have been to Poached several times for breakfast and loved the food. However, we went for a birthday breakfast (three weeks after having been there for another birthday) and ordered Pecan Bacon rollups (delicious as always), the Breakfast Plate and Lemon Crepes. We enjoyed the Lemon Crepes so much several weeks earlier! When they came, they were nothing like the crepes several weeks earlier...the filling was a ricotta cheese rather than the rhubarb mixture from a few weeks earlier, the topping was berries rather than the whipped greek yogurt...and unfortunately we really didn't like the meal. We asked to order something else instead - a first time for us ever - and the waitress was accommodating. However, she ended up coming back with the manager who said he couldn't afford to replace two meals (both Lemon crepes) and we should have read the menu as 'food costs money'; we ordered the SAME thing as the time before but apparently the explanation of the dish had changed in those weeks. The manager was rude and while he did cover the cost of one of the meals, he lost customers with his attitude.

This is one of the worst way of running a restaurant. I call nov 30th 2014 and tried to put my name on the list but they said I have to be going there so they can put my name on the list. And I told them why do I have drive there in mines 30 just to put my name on a waiting list and they told me that's what it is if I don't like it I don't have to eat there. I will put this on face book as well with more details. I was there before as well they where busy and they got my name on the list and they said they will call me once they have table open and I said ok I got a call after 1.5 Hr they said they have a table and I told them I eat some where els already. THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST RESTAURANT IN SASKATOON.
Marles Kerns
Eggs Bennie?!? Yes Please!!. The girls and I always go to poached for eggs Benedict. They always have a couple of choices on the menu, the other day it was eggs with Canadian bacon on toasted English muffins with the lovely hollandaise sauce. They always serve it with a lovely fresh salad with citrus vinaigrette dressing and goat cheese crumbled on top. Delish!!!! Going again tomorrow, that'll be twice this week!! The service is always friendly and food is always very yummy. It's a great breakfast spot!!

Horrible service. The food is pretty good here but the service is horribly slow still waiting after 45 minutes. waitresses ignored us definitely not worth the wait.
Amy Erickson
Best breakfast I've had. This place is a hidden gem. My mom and I found it by looking through the top trending restaurants on this site. We had to wait 20 minutes to get in and then another 10 minutes for our drinks. The service was ok, I felt they didn't have enough staff and everyone was rushing to get people out and new people in. My mom and I both ordered the Eggs Benedict. It came with a side house salad with orange vinaigrette dressing. It was easily the best breakfast I've ever had. If I lived in saskatoon I would be a regular at this place. Everything had such great flavor and the waitress we had did a great job at keeping the water full (: yum!<br/><br/><br/>July 09/2016<br/><br/>I came here with some friends for breakfast again. We had a "45 minute wait" which was actually only 20 minutes. I had the Eggs Benedict again and was extremely disappointed to see that it no longer comes with that amazing house salad I had the first time. It now comes with a grape tomato salad (four or five grape tomatoes) with pesto dressing. The portion size was also smaller than I remember, but still just as tasty. I originally gave this restaurant a 5, but down graded it to a 4.5 after this last visit because of the service. Our waitress that brought us our drinks, was different than the one who brought us our food, was different than the who checked in on us and was also different than the one taking our payments. The waitress also kept all of my change which would have been close to a $9.00 tip (my meal was $21.00 and I gave her $30.00) from me alone, I had to ask for my change back so I could give her the proper amount.

Love this place.

My new breakfast place. I came here with a friend on his recommendation. I'm glad I went as the breakfast was fantastic, and the service was great. My only recommend is to be there early as it fills up fast. Hopefully they will expand someday yo accommodate more people.
Lum101
Awesome. Great, friendly service. The food was fresh and very well cooked and plated. We will be back.

Such an amazing breakfast!. I love this place! The breakfasts are so innovative, classic and divine! I personally love the touch of fresh vegetables added to each meal.

Great Breakfast. Had breakfast here this morning. The eggs Benedict was delicious! Had a side of the roll up maple bacon and it was great! My wife had the French Toast and really liked it too! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely stop in again!
Foodie
Lovely breakfast and pleasant service. The only thing I didn't like was paying for a coffee refill. When I'm paying $14 for breakfast and waiting 20 minutes for my meal I expect a free refill, especially when the cup is small. It was enough of a turnoff to make me think twice about going back. I don't need 5 cups but I need at least 2.

Amazing service, great atmosphere, wonderful food! Over all great experience

So good!. We just went there for breakfast this morning and it was amazing!<br/><br/>I got the savoury french toast, my companion the lemon crepe. We also got the potato croquettes. When I tried the lemon crepe I actually gasped at how good it was. My french toast was delicious too. It was a bagel, with what I think was dill/herbs, then asparagus, mushrooms, and a cheese sauce. It was all unexpected but absolutely delicious. The crepe had rhubarb and berries coupled with whipped cream that my partner said was the best he has ever had. The potato croquettes were small little balls of mashed potatoes with a crusty coating. They were very good. The whole meal had us both smiling, so happy to find this place in Saskatoon.

Highly recommend the Creamy Veggie Benny....delish!

Good food, but rude staff. My wife and I were seated at high chairs with no back. We asked to be moved due to my wife's back problems. The response we got was "everyone complains about the chairs. We can't play musical chairs"- despite the fact that 3 other tables were open. We left and we to Park Cafe. Really disappointed.
Kirk Sceviour
Excellent place for an elegant breakfast. Not happy with the cost of coffee refills though. While terrific coffee it really adds to the bill and who has a single cup with breakfast? A cheaper option should be offered. <br/><br/>You really have to look for the sign. Its very small and I nearly gave up on the place which would have been a shame. If I don't go back it will be because I like lots of coffee with breakfast.
Mbeatty
Tasty. Sunday brunch was great! Unique items that were well made and delicious!
Amirmhzadeh
Slow!!!. The food here is good and considering the size of the venue it is understandable that you have to wait for a while to get in. What is not acceptable is the two hours wait for your food. So many waitresses in such a small place with few tables and such slow service! Something doesn't add up!
Miranda Peters
What a great breakfast spot. I felt relaxed in the fun and intimate atmosphere. And the good was incredible, portions were a good size, not to big but not to small. The coffee was very good, and the serves was great. All and all I really enjoyed the experience.
Kate Groom
Got there just after opening time Sunday morning, 8 am. Got a table no problems. Service attentive but not overbearing. Great jazz playing on stereo. Real flowers on tables were welcome. Chocolate cream filled croissants with rum soaked strawberries delicious but too sweet and too much cream. Felt a bit sick afterward! Eggs Benedict a hit with my husband - signature dish. Good espresso coffee.
Rachel Hahn
Tasty food! Small venue though, which can make for long wait times, even for a table of two. Pretty decent service both times I've gone. Average size menu, and a decent variety of meals. Decently priced. Would eat there again.

Best brunch in Saskatoon. The good: the food here is amazing and I've always had good service. The staff have always been very friendly and accommodating. The bad: it's so good that it's tough to get a table after 10am on weekends—unless you want to wait an hour or more. <br/><br/>I won't hesitate to bring family and friends here, though I'll always make sure to arrive early. I hope everyone has an experience as good as mine have been!
Quincy L
Nice atmosphere. Luckily we didn't have to wait, many people after us did and because it's so small you have to wait elsewhere. I was disappointed with the French toast, I was expecting fresh fruit but it was canned strawberries. My date had the crab cakes and it wasn't real crab ... Overall disappointing for us in regards to food. Liquor prices seem competitive and the service was friendly.

Best Breakfast Place in YXE. Although it's a not the biggest place, they make up for it with the food. Amazing breakfast and drink menu. The spicy hot chocolate is awesome and the maple pecan roll ups are addicting. If you're an Eggs Benedict fan, this restaurant has the best in the city.

The one and only Sufjan Stevens said that pop music is overly structured. But, more importantly, he said that he would try to challenge that in his work. <br/><br/>To me, Poached is the Sufjan Stevens of breakfast institutions. There's only so much you can do with breakfast cuz the ingredients are pretty basic, or, structured, but poached understands this and challenges it nevertheless. <br/><br/>Prosecco and fresh orange juice, bitch. Try to find that at doc hollandaise!!!!
Food Trotter
WOW!!!. Best locally owned breakfast joint in town!!!
Kyle Broflowski
Good food and slow service. Avoid on weekends.<br/><br/>As a general preface, I am not usually one to complain and have a fairly high threshold of tolerance for the regular restaurant gripes having worked in the industry (slow food, cold food, etc).<br/><br/>However, I was upset enough at our recent experience that I thought a review was warranted. We waited just over an hour for our food, which while long, is understandable if you are coming in on a weekend when the restaurant is full. What was inexcusable about our wait was the two tables of identical size (and even one identical menu item) that were seated, served, and left all while we were waiting for our food.<br/><br/>After asking about our food at the 45 minute mark just to make sure that it hadn't been forgotten about, our server apologized and said that "it would be on the house if we want". While the discount would have been appreciated, we felt this was an awkward customer service move as it put us in a spot where we had to choose whether we wanted to pay or not. It made me feel uncomfortable to have to negotiate a free meal. With that said, we declined her offer.<br/><br/>Thirty minutes or so later, our food finally came and it was delicious. Shortly after, we got the bill, paid full price, and left moderately dissatisfied with the whole experience.

Best Breakfast in Saskatoon! Hands down!. This restaurant serves the best breakfast in Saskatoon. And it's nice to have something more than just eggs, bacon, and toast when going out for breakfast. We had the eggs benedict with cherry tomatoes and asparagus. The poached egg was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were roasted to perfection! The croissant French toast with chocolate and hazelnut was delish! We also added the bacon roll-ups with pecans... awesome! My only complaint is that the green tea latte was not matcha green tea enough... as I'm Asian, I know what green tea flavoured food and drinks should taste like. All in all, best breakfast in Saskatoon... HANDS DOWN!

So-so. Had high hopes for the Bistro. My food was o.k., but no better and more expensive than other places. My sister's crab cakes were fake crab (or at least tasted like it) and expensive. The fan with the light above it flashing constantly on the white table cloth bothered me (I am light sensitive). Don't plan on going back.
Iandeptuck
Nice breakfast, not amazing. I had the eggs benedict, which was a little bit above average. The salad that came with it was very tasty, I would give it top marks. Between myself and my partner we shared sides of the sausage and the potatoes. Neither of these were very memorable at all. Coffee was pretty decent.<br/><br/>Over all, after waiting to get in, I thought the restaurant was over-rated.

This place has a great brunch menu, but get there early

Best breakfast in town. If i had to eat one meal for the rest of my life, it would be eggs benedict, and poached has the best one in the city that i've had so far. their other breakfast items are also excellent and always cooked well.
Cjnorval
Goodfood. We move here from South Africa and this is by far the best breakfast we have had since here.Friendly staff a bonus. We will be back with friends.

Disappointed with inconsistencies. After being thwarted with long wait times and being turned away on four prior occasions I was very disappointed with the food and atmosphere when I finally got to eat here. The staff seemed more concerned with getting you in and out than whether you actually enjoyed your meal. The restaurant makes no bow to it's clientele with not allowing reservations and offering no apologies for deficiencies. They had no decaf coffee since "we only have espresso" - other top restaurants and coffee houses offer decaf espresso without problems in Saskatoon. My main was extremely under seasoned and bland (Butternut omelette which is advertised as having a "kick"- not my experience at all barring the kick in the pants for ordering a very disappointing entrée. To be fair I did order it without the bacon that it usually comes with so perhaps that accounted for the blandness?). The sides however were great- the salsa very fresh and the greens and vinaigrette were unique and tasty. My friend had the traditional eggs benedict and enjoyed that as well as the freshly squeezed orange juice. The food arrived quickly but we felt rushed as it even states on the menu to "be respectful of others waiting during busier times". I felt the food and atmosphere pretentious beyond delivery. Although a vegetarian I can only imagine Gordon Ramsey's comments on crab flavoured pollock in the crab cakes- unsure why a higher end restaurant would serve an imitation crab yet make such great fresh salsa and herbed cream cheese spread. It will take a lot to get me to return and I urge others to try the Hollows instead- superior food, their service and atmosphere is eclectic, unrushed and pleasant versus pretentious, uncaring and rushed. Too bad as some really great décor and effort in some areas but overall misses the mark!

Yummy Food!. The food here is amazing! Every time I have been here I have been blown away by the service and the food! I love everything about Poached!

Very Good!. I agree with others... I love their Eggs Benedict! Pair your food with a great cappuccino and you're set! I've tried the crab cakes and they're quite good.<br/><br/>The servers are very smiley and attentive.<br/><br/>The only down-side is the size of the place. Many times we've had to go somewhere else for lunch because it was full. :(

So good!. I would eat their eggs benny everyday. For breakfast, lunch, and supper. With potato croquettes. Everyday.

A friend suggested this place..Fantastic!!! I have never enjoyed breakfast so much! I had egg's benny w holiday sauce and bacon roll up's.. She raved about her meal too!!<br/>The only issue...some cook could not make it in .. So we could only order from one side of the menu.. Huh??

AMAZING!. I don't typically write reviews, but my brunch today at Poached was the best I've ever had. Anywhere. Ever. I had the breakfast plate with two poached eggs (cooked just how I requested), toasted bagel (perfectly toasted - seriously), potato croquettes (I've never had these before and I am in love), pecan maple bacon rollups (these are also amazing. Not too sweet, which I thought they might be) and it also came with a spinach and goat cheese salad. All for only $13!! Our service was also very good and we were lucky and didn't have to wait for a table. People that came after us had to wait around 30 minutes for a table, but it was Sunday and it's well worth the wait.

Terrible service. We were finished our meal by the time we got cream for our coffee. They were friendly enough but no more than that. Food tasty but not delicious. Way overpriced. $32 for two average breakfast and coffee. No tip from me either and I usually tip very well. Apparently a decor that is funky enough for Saskatoon yuppies to pretend they are in Vancouver or Montreal is enough.... I wouldn't go back at half the price.

Good service and good food. I had the pesto chicken pita with avocado. It was great! Extremely tasty. And not a bad deal either-- 13 dollars. I've many a time eaten worse for more.

Best breakfast in Saskatoon. Best place for some fresh squeezed orange juice and a look out on sunny Saskatoon. Poached takes a classic breakfast meal and spices it up! It reminds me of some places I visited in New York. Clearly the owner is a cultured and vibrant individual. <br/>* * * * *

Small Package - Good Things. A small little venue with quality ambiance, food and service. From the street you could walk by it without noticing the sign. Here you can sense the passion for what they are doing in how they do it. Even the salad with the eggs is a pleasant accompaniment . Lots of great options well done.

Yum yum yum.. Honestly, this is the best brunch in the city. Yes, you'll have to wait if you go on a weekend. Yes, it can be a little pricier. But it is *so* worth it.<br/><br/>I've tried quite a few menu items and enjoyed them all - the potato croquettes are an instant favourite, the herb hollandaise is amazing, and I can never get enough of the turkey sausage.<br/><br/>Two meals and two mimosas, plus tip, came to just under $50. For me, that means Poached is a special occasion treat - and worth every penny.

Breakfastgirl. Excited to take a visiting friend for a great lunch. Checked the address on the internet. Circled the block 3 times, still unable to spot the restaurant or a sign. Determined, I walked the block and literally stumbled upon the location. The miniscule sign could easily have been missed and not at all visible from the street.<br/>I didn't know what to expect as the photos on the web were of the food, which looked awesome.<br/>The restaurant is very small, in good taste. I however would not like to be perched on the very high bar stools for a relaxing lunch. I liked the white table cloths, the cobalt blue water glasses.<br/>Missing for me was any music or distraction from the close proximatey to the other guests. <br/>Waiting for my friend, I checked out the menu. Sadly, the items were only in print, no photos. I had been fortunate enough to see them on the web, but my friend did not have that luxury.<br/>My Americana cup of coffee was good, ($2.50, refill $2.00) I enjoyed my poached egg, maple bacon rolls were amazing. AVOID the Crab Rolls, actually fake crab, tasted like fake cheese in them and deep fried too. <br/>My friend enjoyed her Eggs Benedict and the Hollandaise Sauce was delish.<br/>The wait staff could have been more professional, training lacking. It was as though they were disinterested.<br/>Perhaps a word to the management, treat every customer as though it were their first visit. It may be. A little service and info goes a long way.<br/>I'd like to give it another try. What they do well....they do well. All in all, once we found the place, it was a good experience. What could be so bad having a lunch on a beautiful day with a bestie?

This place is AMAZING. probably one of the best breakfast places I have tried. the only negative thing I can say about poached is the wait time for a table. We waited 40 mins but the delicious food more than made up for it. We will definitely be back soon

I was a little bummed out when I visited poached, to be honest. I ordered eggs Benedict and "regular coffee". Normally I would opt for a latte but was trying to spare a couple calories. The eggs Benedict was okay, but barely warm. Got cold quickly and I prefer not to eat cold eggs. Most any restaurant I've been to had no issue with free refills on coffee, and though I understand an Americano is superior and more expensive, I would've preferred plain coffee and a refill. Overall, food was tasty, but our server billed us and asked for payment twice. Is it that unusual to linger 40 minutes over breakfast?

Hands down the best place for a breakfast date in Saskatoon. Food is fresh, and clearly is made with quality ingredients. Dishes are presented beautifully. The atmosphere and decor are cozy and trendy. <br/>Definitely recommend the potato croquettes and the maple bacon wraps. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I will so far as to say its the best breakfast I have ever had. Do yourself a favour and try this gem. (This review is NOT intended for those who think a Denny's pan-scrambler is breakfast heaven.)

Hmmmm.... Stopped by for brunch... the french toast was soggy and heavy, and overpriced, the french omelette was 'okay' but the flavors didn't knock my socks off. I think they should warm the plates because the dish was lukewarm at best when brought out to me and we sat by the door which further cooled the food. I wanted a brewed java, they didn't have it, so I was offered an americano instead. Fair enough, but a refill is $2 a pop. I think brewed coffee is not an out of the ordinary thing to want with breakfast/brunch, and a refill or two... Pricey, overrated... Just got back from Vegas where we ate lunch impromptu at a 4 star awarded restaurant at the Venetian... it was world class cuisine, 3 servers, I had brewed coffee and refills and it was about the same price... I think we pay a lot in Saskatoon for what is being offered.. I don't mind paying IF its worth it... The server was pleasant and did ask us about the food, we did say the french toast was heavy... but we didn't complain in reality, so that is our loss as maybe they would have done something for us. I don't think I will be back... unless for drinks in the evening.

We have been this place several times, but every time they told us to wait around 45mins. Okay. We can wait, when we finally had our food and drink, we felt so disappointed. Not as good as been told. Not really crab meat. The French toast was so so. Just feel every thing are overpriced and not worth to wait such long time and just have below average food.

I absolutely hate this place! Only been there one time and let me tell you no food is worth waiting two hours just to get a table. If you do go make sure your not going hungry because you will be waiting at least an hour I'm sure before you get your food. Too pretentious very disappointed in this place.

Mmm bacon rollups. This might just be my favourite brunch place in Saskatoon (and it doubles as my favourite place to get a martini later on in the eve!). Cool atmosphere, nice music, and most importantly, delicious breakfast. I`m a big fan of their stuffed french toast, eggs benedict (the hollandaise is awesome), bacon rollups, potato croquettes...I seriously could go on and on. The price of a coffee is a little ridiculous, but I`ll let it slide because the food is just so darn tasty.

Pricey extras. The food was good, not as great as others have suggested. The crab cakes were deep fried and made of flavoured pollack - I would rather pay more for true crab cakes. The coffee is tiny; comes in a little tea cup and they charge by the cup. I paid $5 for my son to have milk, which is rather ridiculous given that I had no problem purchasing a full meal for a child. Average, have had better, probably won't be back based on the overall experience.

The food here is unique and very delicious; everything from the peppermint hot chocolate, to the butternut crunch omelette. I recommend trying this place at least once

Delicious food, horrible hostess. We go here often for brunch, food is always super delicious and the staff is usually very friendly. However, on Nov 25th 2012 we came at a quarter to one as a party of 3 and were met with contempt. the first lady we talked to rolled her eyes at us and said she would go see if there was anything available, after a while another lady came up to us and she just looked pissed, she told us she couldn't accommodate a party of 3 because the wait was too long and then they were closed so we would have to come back another day. Had the staff been sincerely apologetic and friendly instead of horribly mono-tone and nasty, our view on this establishment would not have been tarnished

Best Brunch in Sask!. This is by far the best place I have ever eaten brunch in Saskatoon. Even the presentation of the food is above par. 10/10 for everything I've tried. The Crab Cakes are great and so is the sauce. Potato croquettes are cooked perfectly, and the prices you can't beat. $12 for a complete brunch at that calibre is outstanding. The poached over asparagus is my favorite dish. Their hollandaise sauce is herbed so get an extra bit of flavor without the food being laden in salt. I also really like how most of the breakfast dishes come with a mixed greens salad as well as a bread. You can even build your own brunch with the al la carte options and still come out under $20!<br/>Well done poached, well done!<br/>Now if Flint would only upgrade their house gin......
