Review Kitano Japanese Cuisine - Sarnia

Francis Duncan Campbell-McCully
Came in for a take-out order. Was greeted by an older man who I can assume is the owner. He was incredibly kind, and helped me through ordering. I ended up getting two sets of salmon sushi and a California Roll. The roll came with side cups of soup and salad. The sushi was made with excellent attention to detail, and it's obvious the chef is passionate about their work. The taste of the sushi was likewise excellent. The soup was slightly bitter, though it's more than possible to look past that and still enjoy it. Though I ordered takeout, the environment of the restaurant was amazing, and it very much reflects the image of a place that knows what they're doing, making me eager to dine in there in the future.

Tried an appetizer and the bento lunch special and two rolls. Everything was delicious. I was very impressed with the sashimi set, my partner had bulgogi beef set and said he would order it again. Generous portions as well and cute private booths make it a nice date spot.

As a vegan I love the great selection of veggie rolls! I highly recommend the veggie special and fruit roll up for dessert! Food is always beautifully prepared and service is excellent. Kitano's never disappoints!

I had a Bento lunch. It was fresh, fast, fairly priced, and SO good!! Really satisfying too! This place is clean, super friendly, comfortable, and even has semi private dining rooms (walled in booths, like a Japanese/Canadian fusion of style). Lots of selection on the menu, fair prices, and lots of vegetarian choices! It isn't all you can eat, but if everyone in your party paid around $20 and shared their order, you could have a feast that would beat any similarly priced buffet in quality, and leave you with a full belly too. I highly recommend, and plan to return! ----------- UPDATE: went there for dinner last night. It was pretty busy but we still got a private booth and service wasn't overly slow. Food was fresh and tasty, and well presented. Prices seem very reasonable to me, especially if you get a meal or a "pick 2 or 3 special", or a boat. My only complaint is that it was a bit chilly for me. With the high ceilings I'm sure it's tough to heat. Just bring a sweater. :) Still a 5 star review!

Delicious. It was our first time going- usually go to Hana for ACE. You dine a la carte but the quality is much better and portions are good! Thoroughly impressed! Definitely recommend.

If you have 3 hours to wait for dinner, then come here. No one checked in with us to tell us it would take close to 2+ hours to get our food. We were about ready to walk out when conveniently they brought us our food. We had a total of 4 rolls each, finished them in less than 10 minutes. We will never go back and I would never recommend this place to anyone. The food was not worth the wait and the service was awful. So disappointing.

Kitano is hands-down, the best sushi restaurant in Sarnia! My family and I always appreciate the passion and dedication the owner/master chef has shown for his quality food and restaurant. The new location has even better service and atmosphere with easier parking.

They've not changed!, the food here is still nothing less than excellent, place is certainly well kept. That wait while they were under construction was worth it!.

I took my mother for her birthday lunch today. The environment, food and service was exceptional. It's clean, fast and our server was very knowledgeable. Complimentary salad and soup makes it even better. Thank you Robin for being such an efficient server. I will spread the word around town!

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch today. Ingredients were fresh, great variety of interesting rolls and so tasty. We had the Trio Roll, 911 Roll, and the Lobster Roll (this was the best one!) We will definitely be back.

Kitano is our favourite restaurant in Sarnia! The waitresses are always super polite, the food is always INCREDIBLE and hands down the best sushi in the city - some of the best sushi I've ever had, and I've had A LOT of sushi. I love how you can reserve a private booth, and the atmosphere is great. Love Kitano!

Arrived on a Friday night, empty - only a few tables waiting for food. Long story short, we (2) left after 20 minutes - we hadn't even been offered drinks. Waiters serving everyone else but us apparently! Went to Boulevard down the street, immediate service. Don't disagree, some of the best sushi but awful service!

Best Japanese food I've eaten in Canada. I travelled to Japan in September 2016 and this food compares beautifully. Great atmosphere also!

so fresh and delicious and the prices are great. so happy to have somewhere to get sushi in sarnia other than hana. my only complaint is that the soup and salad that comes with the combo is tiny, tiny portions. other than that, everything is always great.

Good food, good place but sorry to say we've waited 45 mins for our order.. to think that they're not really busy that time.. My husband ask for water to drink and the lady serving us didn't bring any..

Why did I not know of this place sooner?! I love sushi and have eaten sushi in many places in different countries. It was only by chance that my wife saw it once as we were driving down Front Street and we thought we'd give it a try, expecting something similar to the run-of-the-mill B&W or Hana. We were mistaken. This sushi was great, with a much larger variety than the others. We made sure to eat as many different seafoods as we could: shrimp, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, eel and octopus. The sashimi is cut thicker than their competitors, so don't let it's price deter you. It was all great. Overall, it is pricier than the all-you-can-eat places, but if you enjoy good quality sushi, then it is worth it. The food took a while to come to us, but that wasn't a problem for us as it was very well prepared. I really wish they had Takoyaki (octopus balls) on the menu though.
