Review John's Restaurant - Sarnia

Was amazing, great service, delicious food, cowbell tasting 😋 I had the pot roast (fall apart it was so tender), mashed potatoes and gravy, beans.. rice pudding for dessert. Yum!

Have gone for breakfast. Home fries aren't cooked long enough for my taste, just basic potatoes. They only serve Canadian bacon, would love to have the choice. Eggs and toast are made just as good at home. Decent but not worth going out for. Eager to try some of their lunch or dinner specials. Staff seem to be great.

Amazing service with our server. She was very attentive and gave great idea for our meals whuch were were tasty and fresh. This restaurant has never failed us even though John has passed the restaurant to the next family in line.

Good food and service. Warm, welcoming atmosphere. Update for 2022: you can now substitute Just Egg (plant based egg) in any egg dish for a small charge. This is awesome!

This is not the first time this has happened. The potatoes were drenched in oil. I lifted my plate and put a knife under it and as you can see the oil pooled to one side of the plate. I asked the waitress if she would eat it and she said no. Then why serve it to me?

I had a great meal here with my family. The food was tasty and lots of it. We had an issue with one meal, spoke with the wait staff and got a replacement meal right away. I can see why John's has been in business for so long. Keep up the good work !!

The servers were friendly and efficient but I was very disappointed in the food. I had the eggs Benedict with hash browns and a side of fruit. The food lacked flavour and salt. There was no crispy to the hash browns. The bowl of fruit was frozen melons. I was expecting a bowl of fresh fruit and the melon wasn’t even completely thawed. I could not even eat it and they charged $3. The coffee was weak and overall I was very dissatisfied with the food. Will not go back

Awesome family place to eat. Very clean indoor and out door eating and they have takeout also. The food is excellent very good. The waiters and waitresses were kind. I love this place.

Not too far off of the highway (402) this was the perfect place to stop for a late breakfast. No frills food - but everything done perfectly and with great service. Next time I do the Toronto <---> Milwaukee drive I will be sure to stop here again! If you live in (or visit) Sarnia this is a very comfortable place to relax and get a great diner experience. The signage and facade is a little weather worn (and outdated), but inside is clean, comfortable and exactly what you want. --- (Update, one year later) We stopped here again on our way home from CDN Thanksgiving (2017) and again it was awesome, We even had the same waitress. We have already made plans to stop again every time we cross the border at Sarnia - love this place!

Went in last week after not having gone in a while. Service was mediocre at best. Food was terrible. Fries were undercooked and cold, buffalo chicken wrap was wet and soggy. Service and quality have gone downhill to say the least.

I have been going to John's for several years and never had a problem. This time we decided to rent the room at the back for a family birthday gathering. Bad choice. We had the privacy and ability to move about and not bother other patrons. But they forgot about us in there. And when they finally took our order - they were out of what we chose off the limited menu that they offer in the room. When our food finally came it was cold and discusting. Not at all what things are normally like. I would not recommend using the back room.

We have been there food was greasy our clothes smelled like grease and there was no bacon only pemale bacon what is this...

Johns is my only breakfast restaurant. Their Skillet is to die for and they cook it to perfection. The girls are all friendly and accommodating. I eat there several times a month.

Sitting in the restaurant as I write this. This place is hit or miss. ESPECIALLY when it comes to service my god. I almost walked out of here after waiting 20 minutes for someone to take my order. It's like they forgot I was here, or just didn't even care to give me quality service. I come here often. I think I need to start looking for a new place. Service is everything! Show a little interest ppl!! Still waiting for my coffee and water by the way.

years ago i worked in the original restaurant. jvery nice people to work with .excellent food would like to have turkey there. can never go wrong dosnt matter how busy it is still get food in good time.i dont go there as often as I would like but still go 3 to 4 times a year .

Have been dining at John's every week for breakfast for over a year. Very good food and cosistantly good service. Also took our young cousin from Germany who loved John's chocolate chip pancakes!

Service was great , breakfast was great ! Very friendly place !!!!!

Food was great ... As always ..however asked for waters with meal never received , nor did the gravy come with the meal as ordered! We used to come here quite often and haven't been in a while ...

Just an alright breakfast joint. The vegetables in my wife’s Veggie Omelet weren’t cook. My sausage was less to be desired. The potatoes could’ve used an additional 10 minutes on the grill. Staff was friendly and the coffee was good!

I find this a great place. Food was great and the service was fantastic.

It is very bad when to have to argue about disgusting curly hairs in your food only to told it was from a wire brush.

Price is right. Better than average. The food was good and service was fast and friendly.back bacon is really good.

I think people like this restaurant because its a tradition and they went here as a kid... It's really pretty average IMO. Food was greasy, waaaay too many menus with not enough room on the table to read them and loads of repetitions of items, unorganized server system an certainly not bargain prices for average, unimaginative food. I can see the charm but as I have no ties with the place, objectively I just don't see the hype

Terrible food and terrible service. Asked for eggs over easy and bacon lightly cooked with the hash browns. What I got was fried eggs with crisp burnt bacon and undercooked hash browns and did I mention I got a coffee that was cold? Brutal service brutal food didn't finish any of it. I went to the Olde country diner and had a meal after and it was great highly recommended! And the people are great

Starter menu is sub par. Ordered over easy not over broken. Quoted "mayo" dissapointed with miracle whip. Other than that quite a lovely experience
