Review Alternate Grounds Dockside - Sarnia

Decided to give them a try so I ordered take out. I hot the Lobster Roll and a small greek salad. Staff was very friendly on the phone and at pick up. Lobster roll was awesome, I would recommend. Next time I will dine in and enjoy the view. Very busy place!!

Such a great spot to enjoy with your favourite company. We went mid afternoon,so we missed the lunch and supper rush on the deck! Our server was super, very efficient and look after us really well. The vibe was chill, the boats out front of us were gorgeous, just an excellent spot to enjoy the water's edge. The chicken tenders are the best! Enjoy your own experience!

Was ok.....chilled glass for my beer would have been nice ! Food was tasty. Been there...done that....don't know that we'd make a point of going back !

Food here is superb, don't miss out! I was there with 10 other people including a vegetarian and not a single complaint among us, you can't go wrong. The food took a little while but to come out but understandable given the quality and our party size.Service was great as well.

Made a reservation to impress an out of town friend. I had asked for an indoor seat or shaded patio table as she is sun sensitive. We were sat at a patio high top with no cover. We immediately asked to move before ordering. The waitress said she’d have to consult with other staff. We didn’t see her again until our food came. We again asked to move, and she said it would be too confusing to the other staff to move now (even though there were empty tables in the shade next to us no one sat at during our whole visit). As she said no twice, we were too polite to simply move to another table. Eventually we got up to stand in the shade and left our food on the table. We asked for the bill and told the waitress why we left our meals and why we were standing in the shade. She laughed condescendingly and said, “well this IS a patio”. When we paid our bill at the tent, we explained again we hadn’t finished our meals and wouldn’t be returning due to our experience, and the hostess said “your waitress gets confused when people switch seats” and turned around and complained about us to other staff while we were still in earshot. We were too polite to push it further, but I’m completely frustrated with how it was handled and the “not my problem” attitudes. Again, we were courteous the entire time, so there was no reason for condescension. My friend was sunburnt to the point of blistering following our meal and it really dampened our whole weekend. We won’t be returning.

My son took me here for my birthday. Staff extremely rude. Asked to sit on patio told it wasn’t open. 5 people in our party with a baby, making 6, seats us at a small table for 4. Get ready to leave and suddenly there is another table in other room. As we sit, people start going on the patio. One male employee was very rude and not quiet about his comments about other customers. As we are eating, the staff are doing shots and drinking beer. Food was good and that’s about the only nice thing I can say about this place. Won’t be back and definitely wouldn’t recommend.

We went for lunch and will not be going back. One person had the Cuban sandwich and it was horrible--flat, not sure what was in the middle of it and for $20+ way over priced, at most its a $3 sandwich. The others felt it was nothing special and most of the sandwiches are over $20, I can do a better job at home, would not go out of my way to go there. When I go out to eat, I expect something better than I can make at home. I would not call this a restaurant but more of a fast food stop with a restaurant price tag.

So there was a local IPA beet on draft, and it was awesome. But the service in there... Many small tables avaible outside, but I could only be placed at the bar because I was there by myself. Lobster roll sucked and the fries looked and tasted like leftovers added one more time in the oil-ocean. Two stars because of the IPA.

I'm normally not one to complain on things like food, however.... When I go and pay 20 dollars on a shrimp risotto and 13 on wings dusted or not I expect something decent. Firstly, risotto was over cooked, and burnt. Small portion for the price charged. Wings were jerk but tasted of a bland mix of jerk and flour. I spent quite a bit to have a great meal at a place we frequent when the weather allows . the waitress was amazing and made our experience enjoyable. Prices went sky high on the quality of food offered. Will we be back??? Depends on the weather to have a beer on the patio to listen to the boats 15 feet away and smell the gas that inevitably will waft its way over.

A friend and I had the fish and chips here. Both of our fish was quite unfresh and overdone to the point of dryness. The portion size was extremely small for the price- we got about a handful of fries. Was really disappointed and not worth the money. The service was good though and staff were friendly, nice atmosphere but ultimately not worth it imo.

Prices are waaay too high, need more normal food. Don't get any fish tacos unless you like hot spice!! - they were waaay too spicy. I think they need to take notes from John's restaurant fish tacos - those are really really good. The only good thing about this place is the view, so I feel they take advantage of people with their food. If you just go for drinks and the view - its the perfect place :)

Our first time eating here - took out of town company for what we hoped would be a unique Sarnia dining experience - and it was. Everyone enjoyed their meals while taking in the view of the marina. Was rainy night so got best table in the house inside. Prices were reasonable for amount of food. Server Jess was very friendly, helpful but unobtrusive as a good server should be. Will definitely go back again. Thanks Dockside for impressing our guests.

Went for Dinner for the first time at Dockside. Had a great dinner with my Wife. The Service was fantastic and enjoyable. At first I thought the prices were a tiny bit high, until I got my food! Far surpassed my expectations. Flavour and texture both in “the zone”. The Lobster MAC and Cheese with Bacon sounded odd to me but it intrigued me. Amazing flavours. It was neither a small portion or a huge disgusting portion, it was perfect. The crab cakes were soft yet firm with a fantastic crunch and had excellent seasonings. The Beef tips starter was a meal unto itself in size and I ate the whole thing. It was perfectly cooked and so tender. I barely had room for the Mac and Cjeese after. My hats off to the Chef and the Staff. Excellent. Now for my constructive comment. Get beer people have heard of and would normally drink please. Lol. Please not Canadian, Blue or the standard brew but something nice. Stella or Keith’s maybe Heineken or Steam Whistle would be great. Something a little more common anyway. Not everyone enjoys Craft beers. Personally I find them very “hit and miss”. It’s nice to enjoy a drink that you favour with a meal rather than ordering a drink that you aren’t sure of whether you will care for it or not. Thank you for such a wonderful meal and experience. We will be back.

Lived here in Sarnia for over 8 years now and it was our daughter who put us on to this spot . Her and some of her friends enjoyed breakfast there on their graduation day this past Friday . So we all went out again for breakfast on Saturday . We enjoyed the food , great service and of course great view . The only little glitch was their debit was down so had to withdraw from an ATM first but well worth it . Thanks

Amazing food and service. I can't remember our waitresses name but she was on point with her suggestions...especially the donut dessert....amazing...definitely be back!

Location and view of the marina is great, however the food was very disappointing. My wife had the lamb shank and I had the snow crabs. The lamb was tough and she had to ask for a steak knife. Furthermore, her veggies and potatoes were floating in gravy. The overall presentation, left something to be desired. My snow crab was taste less. One would think that if you are catering to the boaters and paying almost $30 for an entree, one would receive an excellent meal. This is apparently, not the case. So if you want a nice upscale meal, Docside is not the place to go. The service was OK, but it would have been nice if they had provided some bread to nibble on, while we waited. Maybe their bar food and lunch menu are acceptable, but this sure is no upscale restaurant.

Thank you for a wonderful breakfast yesterday. We were a table of 17, and we're all served at the same time, no mistakes, always had hot coffee in my cup, our waitress was lovely and of course the food was amazing.

I love this place. Perfect for a relaxing & enjoyable couple of hours in the summer. Great food and nice cold beer. The staff rocks to.

Had breakfast Sunday morning...it was amazing as always and Chris was the best most attentive server! Definitely recommend dockside for any meal!

My 18 year old son treated me to dinner last night for my birthday I had the baked macaroni n cheese and lobster my son had the chicken tenders.That dish was so good! !! We had excellent service and we will return again.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Service is top notch. My favourite place to go for Sure!
