Review Pub Chez Bass - Sainte Anne des Monts

Came in late one night near closing, looking to eat. Owner said kitchen was closed but would accommodate us anyway. Decent food, good local beer, fair price, great service....check them out.

I stayed in a room upstairs. It's hard to get a hold of the staff, I had questions about the check-in and never got a response. Food was good, service was excellent. They have an electric car charger, that's a big plus for me. Cleanliness was so-so. Breakfast was toast and peanut butter. The worst about the room was the heat. It was uncomfortable without A/C. I would not have minded paying 20$ more a night for a room with all the amenities. Overall I only needed a bed to sleep before getting back on the road and it delivered. I don't recommend if your planning to stay more than a night. I gave a good rating because of the restaurant and the EV charger.

Will never recommend this place if you're an English speaker. Unfriendly and rude behavior.

The Auberge was closed when we arrived and there was nobody. Nobody was answering the phone number provided on booking.com or google maps, nobody was answering messages either. We were waiting more than 30 minutes and already trying to find another accommodation, but then the owner finally appeared. He just explained that we supposed to call a different number, and he didn't even said sorry that we had to wait. He didn't seem to care. There was no such information before/after making the booking. Very unprofessional. I guess the place works better in full season than in mid October. Things I liked: - comfy bed, - cosy and clean room (except the bathtube), - very quiet, - sea view, - simple breakfast (tea/coffee, toasts, jams, yoghurts) Things I didn't like: - the restaurant and bar were closed (and that was one of the reasons why we booked this place; and there were basically no other options for a restaurant in the town) - the shower was working quite bad, you need to wait at least 10 minutes to get warm water (in the tap was working correctly) - the bathtub was very old or dirty, difficult to say (see photo)

The good: ambience, friendly service, lots of beers including a few local on tap, lots of people there The not so good: fries are not homemade and have that batter that makes them crispy but without any potato texture. Not ideal for poutine or as a side. The salade gaspesienne had promise, but it was small for a dinner salad and the dressing (homemade or not) tasted exactly like Kraft Italian dressing.

Very good restaurant with quality food and drinks across from the shore of the St Lawrence river. Excellent views from the large windows inside and on the riverside patio. A very popular spot especially for evening sunsets. See the photos.

Beautiful patio, Rude service, Refused to serve on the patio, in times of Covind! When asked for take out, we were again refused, although two customer ahead of us just picked up their take out.
