Review Port City Royal - Saint John

Not a whole lot on the menu to choose from. And very expensive. Nice little atmosphere, but cost us $70 for two and we didn’t enjoy our meals much.

Fine dining anyone? These guys had the best blind tasting. So well worth it. A blast of flavors. Would highly recommend to visit

Delicious meal and very cool ambiance. Service was outstanding. Small but varied menu.

The place is in the middle of an alleyway which is pretty cool. very hipsteresque, and the service was good. started off with 20 oysters which were fresh. then moved onto the cheese starter as well as the pickles which were good. what stole the show however was the chicken liver. I was ready to order a second round but i knew i had more food coming. ordered the burger which was cooked nicely and washed it down with another 8 oysters. i would highly reccommend this place.

Lovely space, great food, and attentive service. Menu was small and focused, with fresh ingredients. Some of the best mussels I've ever had, and the chocolate cheesecake was to die for.

The perfect atmosphere to unwind over drinks and a meal. Bartenders and staff were very professional. The food was outstanding!

This place is amazing. The handcrafted cocktails are delicious works of art. I've been several times for lunch and once for supper and have never been disappointed. The food is absolutely drool-worthy. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. The setting and atmosphere are perfect for drinks with friends, a special occasion or just a casual hangout. I can't recommend this place enough!

Visited St. John for our Birthdays/Anniversary trip at the end of September and in researching dinning options I made Port City Royal a must try and we’re both thrilled we did. We went with all Appetizers since we couldn’t decide, Chicken Liver Mousse, Sausage Pot, Creton En Ploye, Donair En Ploye and the Meat plate with the pickled asparagus, all masterfully prepared. A memorable experience, from the decor, friendly/knowledgable staff, great drinks, unique menu and flawless food, Thank you. When a chef is that good, tip him as well…..

Great service! Friendly personable staff. Warm and cozy atmosphere. Don't come here if your looking for a quick frozen meal. These folks use real local food prepared fresh. Takes a bit, but the quality is second to none.

The perfect dining experience from beginning to end. Flawless. Great location, super cool interior, awesome staff, beautiful branding, cosy yet sophisticated atmosphere, beer and wine to die for and impeccable food. Even the menu design is cool. I won't say that it is what Saint John needed because Saint John already had a host of amazing restaurants. I will say though that Port City Royal is as magical an experience as any of my favourite restaurants in London. Possibly more so. Go there. Now.

A beautiful relaxing environment with a great chef and top rated mixologist. Placed in the top ten of "Where to go" in the enRoute publication for Canada.

Perfect setting for date night. Delectable appetizers to share, plenty of cocktail and beer choices, cozy rustic atmosphere, the staff are exceedingly pleseant and knowledgeable. A reasonably priced, hidden gem which mixes old and new, much like Saint John itself.

Just a lovely lovely restaurant. Very unique atmosphere and delicious, "thoughtful" food! The staff couldn't be. Over and the cocktail menu is outstanding! It's a must see dining experience

I started with a creamy asparagus soup that was so fresh, it smelled like it had just been picked and not even made into a soup yet! I also had sturgeon pate(rich and smoky), steak with mashed blue potatoes and sauteed kale, the 'queens' cake(sweet heaven!) and a drink called the Russian Smash(cold limey luciousness). Everything was delicious- I will go again...and again, and again...

Top notch food, service, and drinks. The menu had great variety and just cool, novel and tasty dishes. Easily one of the top restaurants on the east coast.

Nice ambiance. Creative menu options. Extremely slow. Leave 2 -2.5 hours for dinner. Food was more salty than I have ever experienced in a restaurant. (and I like salt) I hope they can solve the aforementioned problems as I would like them to succeed, but I won't be returning anytime soon. Sorry.

My new favorite restaurant in Saint John. The food is truly delicious with incredible flavor. The interior layout, décor, staff and even background music create an ambience that was inviting, relaxed and cozy. A truly enjoyable dining experience!

My favourite thing about Port City Royal is their attitude about their product. Many restaurants that actually use local ingredients (including the ones that have 5 local things that they combine with ingredients from Sysco, GFS and Ed Frex), make that the focal point of their marketing, of their allure. In a sense, if their food is only "good", it is acceptable because customers get really excited by their commitment to supporting local producers. Port City Royal does it the other way around. They have incredible food, often doing things with common ingredients that I never knew was possible. It is as if, after the mind-blowing food, someone taps you on the shoulder and says, "oh, by the way, basically all the ingredients in what you ate are grown in the Maritimes."

We went for the first time yesterday and loved it! Passionate staff, local, quality ingredients and a warm inviting atmosphere! The lemon meringue pie was the best I've ever had. Glad to have a new place like this in Saint John. We'll be back!

Limited fresh menu. I ordered and enjoyed the cod & pollack chowder. Our party of six all enjoyed something different. No gluten free options. Blue potato fries were tasty.
