Review Thandi - Saint John

Very beautiful interior and atmosphere, our service was excellent and they were able to make a last minute reservation for us. I got the Matar paneer and it was delicious with great portion sizes (enough for lots of leftovers). My husband got the mango chicken entree and really enjoyed it. A little bit more expensive but we really enjoyed the Indian food they had.

We were a group of 10 who went early on a Sunday evening and we were seated straight away. The restaurant was busy as well. The service we received from our server was exceptional. She took our order quickly, she was great with the kids and she checked on us to make sure everything was OK. She was wonderful, I didn't get her name unfortunately, otherwise I would write it here. The food was delicious and it was good sized portions. We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere and will definitely go back again.

Food is typically very good and our goto for Indian cosine. Had not so great experience today when ordering cheesecake. Cheeskakes here were portioned very liberally but tonight it feels like portions were halved but the price remained. Pictured was 10$.

My daughter said "Best food I've ever had", butter chicken very tasty + you can buy jars of it to take home and they give you a spice pouch for marinade. Samosas amazing! Loved how they were draped in chickpeas and an amazing sauce. I will be back!

We are here with Friends on business trip. The curry menu is very good and the portion is generous. The price is on the high side but the services and foods are exceptional. We are here in the evening. So, parking is not a big problem. But if you drop by for lunch, parking could be tricky. We will come back and try other menus.

FUSION is the word! The food was very tasty, but you need to throw your preconceived expectations aside if you know what authentic Indian food tastes like...and the prices are pretty steep in comparison. I'm used to paying $12-15 for a butter chicken. Here it's $26. We had the satay appetizer, and while it was tasty, I couldn't even tell which was the tandoori chicken and which was the BBQ pork. Tandoori chicken is a specific flavour that is typically standard across Indian cuisine. It was disappointing that I couldn't even tell which was which. The butter chicken has ground cashews in it.😕 Again, tasty, but not a true butter chicken. Chicken tikka masala was very flavourful, too. All in all, if you have no preconceptions, you'll enjoy the food, because it is good quality and tasty. I'm sorry to say that for me, though, I found it really expensive and it didn't satiate my craving for Indian food. 😢 That said, my hubby love, love, loved it!

Had supper there tonight and would give 6 stars if I could. Bob's service was top notch, along with the beef medallions I ordered. I'm a prairie guy and the beef here on the coast was as good as anything back home. Bonus points for Bob knowing, and successfully making a paralyzer. This was the first place since landing in Toronto and heading east that we came across a bar or restaurant that even knew what it was.

I usually have a great experience but last night was just ok. The food is always good here. Unfortunately the service was a bit under par this time. If the place was packed I could give them a pass however it was about half full. We were seated right away, they were very friendly but very slow. They forgot to bring the Naan bread and hummus and by the time they came back to our table they had our meals so we did not have an opportunity to ask for it. Our meals were good but I ran out of my drink early on, I waited about 10 minutes before I could ask for another and when I was finally checked on, I asked for another drink. It took the waiter at least 10/15 minutes if not more to bring it to me...I even asked the guy cleaning the table next to me to remind my waiter for my drink, he said ok, went right over and it still took him another 5 minutes before I got it. It's usually not that big of a deal but I did order a spicy meal and something as simple as a drink can make it less enjoyable. The waiter might of been new I'm not sure however if they are new perhaps they could be assisted until they get quicker. When I mentioned the missing bread and hummus when paying my bill, the waiter mentioned that "the downstairs staff must have forgot". If he had checked on us more, we would have told him, or better yet, he should have noticed.

We had a great dinner there last night. My wife had a Thai dish and I had an Indian dish. Both were delicious! Our waiter was outstanding and very personable. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Simply the best meal I have had in a long time. The vindaloo was perfect it is truly a great restaurant. Few people would believe Indian food of this caliber is available in Saint John. But it is a world class restaurant and an incredible eating experience.

I have gone to Thandi's numerous times and I would of rated it a 5 but the last couple of times I have gone, I haven't enjoyed the food or the service as much. The service more so than the food. I feel like if your not with people who drink alcoholic drinks the waiters/waitresses don't give you much attention. This NYE I went with a friend and our waiter didn't really pay much attention to us. We had to ask for a refill of water twice. And I know that NYE was a busy time and I wouldn't hold it against him usually but the table of 4 who was drinking wine and other alcoholic beverages never seemed to have difficulty in getting a refill. The food was good and again maybe it was because it was busy as heck but it just didn't seem to be their greatest. Which I am sad about because I have really enjoyed this restaurant service and food in the past.

Best service we’ve had in a long time. They really care about their customers. Food was absolutely delicious. Darrell, our server was top notch!!

Best seafood chowder but only on Friday. Butter chicken to die for. Eat here as often as I can. Never a bad experience just incredible food! Five star all the way. The staff are just as great. Good selection of single malt whisky as well.

Food was incredible! Probably one of he best dining experiences I’ve ever had! My first authentic Indian meal, and I’m addicted!! Can’t wait to eat my leftovers today!!

Best meal I have had in a long time! Service was outstanding and the food was fresh and delicious. I had the calamari to start and lamb vindaloo as an entree, would recommend to anyone and everyone!

The food was really tasty and our waiter was excellent. Very attentive even though they were very busy. I requested seating upstairs when booking a table for 4 and that is what we got. Can't wait to go again.

Having moved from southern Ontario finding a great Indian restaurant has been a challenge.... challenge no more. Simply amazing. The incredible food is matched with its top notch service. We drive an hour for Thandi, but offset the travel by getting a takeout order after we eat. Ridiculous? Ridiculously good!
