Review Koryo Korean Barbeque - Richmond

$13 for this Bibimbap? I understand it’s mall food, but this is just ridiculous. One of the worst options you can choose from in the food court. Small portions, underwhelming taste and didn’t fill me up like a good quality option for lunch should be.

Snarky attitude when we asked for 2 extra plates and they serve up to half the plate. Very little food food the excessive price. Won't be buying here again.

The lady at the counter is always very kind to me whenever I go. They have friendly staff and good food 👍

This place used to be really good with decent portions. Now it’s $17 for 5 tiny pieces of short ribs. They will also refuse to give you bbq sauce because “it doesn’t come with your combo”. Seriously? Terrible employees and management is clearly pinching pennies. Not worth going back anymore. Stay away and just go to a Korean bbq restaurant instead. It’ll be cheaper.

Cheap ingredients! Awful tasting chicken but worst of all was the Kimchi. I love Korean food and I've had kimchi regularly for the last 16 years both here and in Korea. This place has the cheapest, most disgusting kimchi I've ever had! Stay away, waste of money!

Worst customer service with false fake not accurate description of food. Order a BBQ beef they gave me chicken. But under the description both says chicken. They won't fix order. Bad service.

Ordered 3 sets and asked for all the potatoes to be packed separately in one box. What I expected to get: 4 boxes 1 box for all the potatoes, and 3 boxes for the rest of the sets What I RECEIVED?!?! 1 box with all the potatoes (fine) THE REST OF THE 3 SETS, STUFFED INTO 2 BOXES??? How does this even make sense? And they had the audacity to argue about this with me! Poor customer service. Used to order from this place a lot but now rating 1 star for doubling down on this mistake. Are you trying to save cost of packing materials? I still don't understand. But congrats, your 1¢ saving on your packing materials has lost you a repeat customer 🙄

Used to be one of my favourite spots at the Richmond Centre food court but the quality seems to have gone down couple notches.

Quantity is there but the quality just isn't the same. For $10 you can get a chicken and beef combo with a drink. The combo comes with your choice of sides and/or rice. I usually just get 3 sides.

Chicken is previously cooked that they just warm up on the grill upon ordering. It was bland. The beef was just one small thin slice. They basically just warm up the meat and put sauce on top.

The sweet potato noodle side is now plain with a hint of sesame oil taste. Used to be filled with vegetables now it is just noodle and maybe a slice or two of chinese mushroom if you are lucky. The macaroni salad just tasted like mayonnaise. The potatoes that used to be a hit was just overcooked, hard potatoes with a hint of flavour.

Super disappointed!

Will not eat here again. I used to enjoy koryo, but recently all their bbq started to have a weird 'chemical' aftertaste that I couldn't get over. Even worse, during my most recent visit, I ordered the BBQ beef combo and my meat had a blood vessel tube or something still in it, if that makes any sense. That totally put me off from eating here again.

Quality went downhill. Their portion used to be decent but lately quality has gone downhill. Their jap Che had nothing in it and the portion/quality is not really good. Check out the picture, what I got is really different from the advertisement. It is like eating at McDonalds!!

Koryo at Richmond Centre. To summarize: don't recommend it

Why:
Service is really horrible, employees chat and forgot if its a take out or not (asked me twice!)
Food is really bad, very small size meat cost you around $10+, meat not fully cook, you can find blood inside
The boss works there felt not friendly at all

I ordered a Tuesday Special combo with Korean Short Ribs, rice, and two side dishes: zucchini tempura and garlic potatoes. My favourite part of this combo was the garlic potatoes! They were so deeply fried that it took a bit of effort to make the plastic fork penetrate its outer layer. The sauce was sweet, sticky, and garlic-y and left you wanting more.

Their special was the Koryo Steak. For under $10 after tax, we got a medium rare steak served with three sides since we asked for no rice. The steak was cooked great, a little on the medium side, but with a wonderful barbeque marinade flavour. The sauce slathered on top also added to the great flavour. It was one of the best steaks you can ask for from a food court.

I would say this place was good, and would be exceptional if the price point was lower.

Korean restaurants tend to be a bit on the expensive side and the same can be said of their fast food counterparts. Take, for example, Koryo Korean BBQ located in the Richmond Centre food court (which has free wi-fi).
