Review Neptune Seafood Restaurant - Richmond

Dim sum menu has lots of choices, all yummy! One of Vancouver's Premier authentic Chinese restaurants👍 We went back for dinner a few days and King crab was one of the dishes - done just right & delicious😋

The restaurant is always full of customers, so make reservations! We went on Saturday at 11am and it took a long time for the food to be served, especially if it is dim sum it is supposed to be speedy. It seemed a little disorganized too. The food was good but one dish, the rice roll with barbecue pork and chives, was substituted without asking us, it came with cilantro instead of chives! I hate cilantro! The eggplant was bland and the shrimp came overdone...

Great food and experience. Kind of tricky until figure it the menu out. After that, food was delicious. Very well seasoned, so no extra sauces needed.

Great food and experience. Kind of tricky until figure it the menu out. After that, food was delicious. Very well seasoned, so no extra sauces needed. Tea taste super fresh and aromatic. Very recommended!

The service at the restaurant is slow as the person usually takes many minutes to receive the order. The hot pot wasn’t provided with all the necessary equipment like the big spoon to pour the soup base. The lady who took order was particularly came across as rude. The food quality isn’t very great either however the price is reasonable. I’d recommend going to happy day cafe which has better ambience, food quality and service. This is located at walking distance from the sky train station that is a convenient bit not the most pretty location to visit.

Food & service was good except that food was coming out very slow from the kitchen. We pre-ordered a set banquet & added some special item. Because the food was coming out so slow that the dinner took 3 hours to finish. Everyone at our table were complaining about how slow the food came out. There was a long pause between each dish & I do mean long pause.

Dimsum all day long. Food is wonderful with amazingly good priced. The custard bun melts in your mouth. You should try it. Service is fast and efficient. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Dissapointed in the food, prices and service. Had higher expectations for the prices of dishes. Portioning was not good representative of the prices either.

One of my favourite dimsum places to hit up in Richmond. Dimsum is made professionally and they offer the 20% off before 11am deal which I wasn't aware of. Not quite 5/5 as there is another dimsum place I love that has staff who are professional and actually look like they enjoy working there. However, Neptune is still up there in my books if you want good (not necessarily cheap), well-made dimsum and acceptable service level.

So if you want a decent dinner for 2 at a fine dining Chinese restaurant in Richmond, maybe just get a whole Peking Duck, which usually costs $45 – $50 and it comes in 2 courses, which is more enough for 2 people. And this time they prepared the duck very well here at Neptune. This is interesting because they are known as a top seafood restaurant in the neighbourhood. Their seafood dishes are not cheap, I would recommend you to try them if you're with a bigger group of people.

Quality of food seems to have gone down a bit...but it is still average compared to other restaurants in the area. Like how it is spacious and you can sit comfortably without being crammed. Ample parking as well.

Service. Not the greatest. Not very friendly people and certainly won't go out of their way to help you.

Food was OK for the most part. Was not impressed with the mini sticky rice. They were small and they cheap out on the lotus leaf by using a small portion of a leaf and cover the rest with parchment paper. Steamed omasum was soft and tender. Steamed bbq pork buns were soft and tasty. Bitter melon vermicelli was unique. Soft noodles on the bottom with crispy noodles on top. Took some time for the food to come out though.

Terrible service and bad food quality at the Richmond outlet location. Impatient and mean waiters/ waitresses, not helpful at all, ignore customers' needs. Will not come back and definitely not recommended to anyone to come.

1 is too much for the bad service, I will give 0 if I can. They treat customers with NO basic respect, only want your money. Will never go this restaurant again.

Not worth the price. I will never come to this restaurant anymore. After they changed the restaurant's name and owner, everything are different!!!

Early mornings on weekends seem like the perfect time for dim sum
hence our visit to Neptune Seafood Restaurant in Richmond. The inside of this restaurant, located in Richport Town Centre on No. 3 Road between Lansdowne and Ackroyd, is fairly spacious. They seem to have larger tables and the decor looks a bit upper class but there is distracting noise that comes from the Skytrain located right outside.

There should be a 0* rating option to accurately describe my dining experience. My family and I (party of 12), came to this restaurant at the Central City location at 6:30pm for dinner. Although we were a big party, we were able to be seated right away due to the restaurant being mostly empty. We all commented to each other that we found this strange, that a large restaurant would be so empty at a peak dinner time hour. We soon found out why.

We ordered 13 large entree dishes from the dinner menu. After placing our order, it took 45 minutes for the first dish to come out, and only the one dish. It took another 20 minutes for the next few to arrive. We were all very hungry, and when only one dish comes out at a time, with long waiting periods in between, there is definitely not enough to go around. So basically, the first three dishes came out one at a time with long waits in between, and then the next 6-7 came out all at once, and then the last two dishes came out after everyone was pretty much done eating, the wait was so long. Why the heck would you serve people food like this? Not to mention the fact that while we were waiting, we did not even have fresh tea, and several times had to chase down a waiter to ask for water and hot tea before they would bother to come with new beverages. When the dishes finally did arrive, the serving staff were extremely rude, barking out, "EXCUSE ME!" and shoving themselves in between two of my family members to be able to drop the dish on the table. A couple times, some of my family members were serving themselves off of the Lazy Susan, and the server did not have the decency or patience to wait the few seconds it would have taken for them to finish, instead spinning the Lazy Susan to place a dish down in an empty spot, and causing everyone to spill.

Needless to say, we were all very unimpressed and even shocked at the outright rudeness of the waiters and serving staff. The best part was when a dish came that we had not ordered, and was a mistake made by our server, but instead of graciously apologizing and offering to switch the dish to what we had actually ordered, she stood and argued with my cousin (who had done the ordering), and went back and forth about this, loudly. My dad poked at part of it with the serving chopsticks, because we were not even sure what this dish was, and the server then immediately pointed at my dad, and said sorry someone has touched the dish and we will not take it back. This is already after she had been rudely arguing with my cousin for several minutes. This unknown dish that we had not ordered also required bowls, which the wait staff had cleared away after we had placed our order because we had not ordered ANYTHING requiring soup bowls. So then, of course, we had to wait another several minutes to try to flag down a waiter, but nobody would even look in our direction, so in the end, my aunt went to an empty table with clean soup bowls, brought them to our table, and served the soup to everyone.

Most of this review has been in regards to the lack of customer service and rotten attitudes and argumentative behavior of the staff themselves. This aspect ruined the majority of our dining experience - no matter how nice the interior decor of the building is, do not let this fool you.

In terms of the food quality, at most, it was very mediocre. A couple of the dishes were very delicious (honey garlic spare ribs, eggplant egg tofu and scallop in hot pot), which we were happy with, but the rest of the dishes were either undercooked (seafood chow mein), lacked flavor (also the seafood chow mein), or were too salty, so we had to mix the dishes together for it to be edible. No consistency. The food itself was not good enough to make up for the terrible customer service. We are more than willing to pay more expensive costs for good food, but for the prices of these dishes, the food was definitely not worth it.

Overall, we would never return to this place, and would only advise you to go if you enjoy bad food with even worse service.

I'd like to say that the food makes up for the horrible service but after today's experience I can confidently say that I will never return to this restaurant again. Not only was it incredibly difficult to flag down a server when we wanted to place our order, it took us 8 attempts before I could get a glass of water. Then at the end of our meal we waited for a small plate of egg-tarts and after 20min or so we gave up and asked for our bill. Our bill arrived before our last dish and when we got the bill we were stunned by the prices of the items. These small dim sum plates were close to if not over $10 each. Then when we went to pay for the bill we gave a smaller tip than we'd usually give, based on the poor customer service we received. And the cashier chased us down and asked for more money (ie. a bigger tip). The nerve of a restaurant giving us such poor service and overly-priced lackluster food and then asking for more money... Don't go here and expect to be treated like a customer. They just see you with dollar signs in their eyes.
Chicas
If I rate the food alone, I would give it 4.5 stars but the rating is for customer service and unfair treatment. Their dim sum is really good here and they have unique dishes that you can't find at other restaurants such as shark fin soup (although I did stop eating this), lobster ha gow, and durian pastry. The problem I have with this restaurant is they take bribe under the table from people to let them in first even though others already made reservations in advanced. Everytime we go there, we always make reservation but several times my husband said people gave the hostess money to let them in first and hostesses took the moneyand the people who know the hostesses and manager get the table before those who made reservations. The last three times that we made reservations, we ended up waiting for more than one hour to get seated while those who came in after us constantly got the table before us. They didn't realize my husband understands Chinese so he overheard them taking bribes to be seated. The waiters are not bad there but hostesses are beyond horrible. Save yourself any headache and go to other restaurants for dim sum

NEVER EAT at Neptune Seafood Restaurant in Richmond!!! WORST SERVICE EVER!!!
We made a booking here for our wedding reception in 2017. We called today to ask about the details- they TOLD US we were booked in but they GAVE our reservation to another party who paid a deposit. For one thing, we were not told to pay a deposit upon booking and most restaurants we spoke to give a courtesy call to ask if the party wants to 100% secure their booking with a deposit. When I asked the General Manager, KEN CHAU, why we didn't get a call, he ignored my question and said because you didn't give a deposit. I further questioned him and then he goes on to say that "someone tried to call you". Complete lies!!! Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time at Neptune.

This has got to one of the oldest late night hangout joints in Richmond besides the infamous No.9 Restaurant at Landsdowne centre. I used to come here for dinner with the family but since so many other restaurants sprouted up across town, finding a nearby place that was affordable and convenient wasn’t hard so we stopped going here. But, after heading out of the movie theatre for a late showing, coming here for late night eats was a good idea.

Was planning to go to a dimsum places in the morning, there were a few options in richmond but my friend decided to go to neptune since he favored this restaurant over the others.

came at very early in the morning like around 9-10 am i think and it was quite empty, but by the time we left is quite packed, but not to the point that there's a lineup yet. ordered a few reggular items for food, and also tried the desert like durian mochi and interesting pastries...

the food in general i would say is definitely good, maybe i was hungry and craving for it at the time. not one item that i remember was off in terms of taste, flavour and texture, everything is in the range of what i wanted.

in terms of the pastry, i think everything is great as well, and the durian mochi is the first time i tried it, durian an exotic fruit either you'll love it or hate it base on the smell, for me i'm okay, like not a big fan of it, but for how they make it, i'll say it's good the durian inside is buttery and the mochi outside is soft chewy and gives a hint of sweetness from the flour.

The servers HATE their jobs so much that they will scream at customers and throw food in your face. When we got there there were many empty tables but somehow it still took a long time to get seated. When asked for hot sauce, a female server curtly replied "i don't know, go ask waiter".
Later, another server brought up a dish that we didn't order. We told her we didn't order it and it wasn't even written on our order list, and she insisted that it is on her list and we must take the dish. She kept arguing with us until a supervisor came by and told her to take it away. The next time she brought our food she threw it down on the table and bulged her eyes out, and screamed "THIS IS YOURS RIGHT?!?". This type of treatment was intolerable. I flagged down a supervisor to complain about her, and the supervisor suddenly turned red and acted as though he was having a mental breakdown, threw his hands up saying "you know we are so so so so busy, i don't have time to deal with your complaint. You see? all these customers? we so busy, we don't talk about service right now" and left.

That was the first time I left a $0 tip. UNBELIEVABLE.
Zoe
their service is really rude and act like every walk in customer owe them money。。。。especially the guy around the bar。。。
their WC is dirty and always run out of TP。。。

Don't go there! First time there with my family and what a let-down. It's a good-looking restaurant, but that's about it. The food was okay but not spectacular. The staff was quite mean and the only person interacted with us and with a smile would be the manager. Lots of angry customers that day because making a reservation there does not guarantee you a table when you show up, as explained by an iron-faced waitress. Really? Then what's the point of making a reservation? For the money you are spending, there are lots of better options in a 2km circle. It is RICHMOND after all.

I brought moon cake last Sunday but realize that it was not make from Neptune Seafood Restaurant. It was made in China. I was very disappointed.

Really bad attitude! Slow service, miss order and waitress know nothing about the menu, just told us she doesn't know, she even took our gas stove for other customers without asking before we finish our dinner! Very rude and unacceptable.
Zoe Liu
Nothing special about the food. Horrible service!. We made a reservation at 12:00 and didn't get a table until 12:45. Servers keep passing by our table and ignoring our orders. When we finally got a hold of a server and asked to get a refill of our water, she told us with attitude that we are gonna have to get another server cause she was not serving our table. Food was only ok, nothing special compared to other dim sum places. Anyways we will never come back to this restaurant ever again. They really need to do something about their services.
David Peckham
Alli can say is yuk and the service is so bad you basically have to beg for service. It took about a half hour to place our order and hour to get our food and another dish we ordered came out when we were finished, than try getting the bill lol won't be going back

Great Dim Sum, Questionable Service. The Dimsum here is great, definitely one of my favorite places. BUT that's only because of the food. The service is HORRIBLE. The moment we paid for our bill the the manager started hovering around our table waiting for us to leave. We sat there for maybe 5-10 min. max after paying for the bill (we were finishing up on our conversation and waiting for 2 people in our party to finish up in the restroom) when the manager came over and told us to leave as they needed the table. I understand that this may be necessary if the restaurant is busy, but there was maybe 10 people waiting to be seated and a couple other empty tables that could have easily been cleaned up to accommodate the waiting guests. Definitely going to think twice before coming here again!
Pinkfatboy
Wonderful if poor service is what you're looking for!. Was in on Sunday for dinner. We ordered a set menu for 10 people at about 5:40PM, 30 minutes later still no food. We ask and they said it's coming but obviously they forgot to put in the order. Other tables that sat and ordered later than us started receiving food (same set menu), we ask again and they said it's coming and we're up next... 6:35 food finally arrives. No apologies for the mistake in forgetting to put in our order.

OK fine they made us wait but when it came to serving up the soup we ordered a 10 person set menu and they ladled soup for only 8 bowls and the main soup bowl was empty. They thought we only had 8 people drinking (we had 4 kids and 2 of them on the younger side) and when we said we need at least 9 they took some out of every bowl. WTF? If we needed 10 bowls, each bowl would have been only half full. It's soup, water it down if you want to cheat don't come out with not enough to fill bowls. When we called them on it the waiter gave a lame excuse of it would have been enough and it's ok to have smaller bowls of soup.

When we received lobster there was no wet wipes or extra tissues. Fried rice came and they took away all of our bowls and we needed to ask and wait a long time to get bowls.

Overall the taste was not great and service was not good. I'm not expecting exceptional service like a western restaurant but forgetting our order and not apologizing for the mistake and trying to cheat us on food quantity are 2 big reasons why I don't like this place.

If you enjoy the poor experience and the opportunity to be ripped off then this is the restaurant for you! Happy eating.

Good food but poor services. 5 of us went there for 14 dishes of dim sum.. including Duran pancake, black truffle dumplings, pigeons, shrimp dumpling, steamed shrimp rice rolls, my favour pan fried radish cake with xo sauce, tobiko mushrooms tart, etc..
But the waiters always either space out or sleeping.

-July 21 2015
I went there with Co workers for lunch .. 3 of us ordered 9 dishes of dim sum.. I used to like their radish cake with xo sauce. . But they are not crispy and tasty as before.. their black truffle mushrooms dumplings used to be thin skins with tasty mixed mushrooms inside.. but the skin was thick and the ingredients ate taste aweful. Overall. . Food 2/10.. services 4/10.. Won't go there again..

----28 Jul, 2014-----

Tasty pigeon for $13.99. 3 of us went there for lunch on July 25. we tried their special pigeon, it's juicy and tasty. we ordered their famous durian sticky ball.. Too much cream inside. I like their mushroom tart with tobiko on it.. it's tasty and creative. scallops rice noodles are tasteless but got big pieces of scallops inside. I had tried their regular shrimp dumpling, sui mai and some buns last time are not that great. I like their pan fried radish cake with xo sauce got a lot of Chinese sausage inside, it's crispy outside and soft inside. but their waiters are black face and rude.

One of The Best Dimsum in Richmond. Yes, kinda a delightful surprise! We made a reservation but when we arrived, we still had to wait a little. But just a short wait.

A good selection of dimsum and very delicious. I was puzzled by the low rating on Urbanspoon. Anyway, I certainly recommend this place for its dimsum.. eg: egg tarts, siewmai, pan fried buns, congee etc.

Will go and check out its dinner a la carte next time.

Do not come here for dim sum. I'd think that with all the Chinese seafood restaurants that the lower mainland has to offer, they would be able to make dim sum all the same. I was so wrong. This place tried to create a luxurious dining experience with fancy colored LED lights and a relatively well designed interior. However, they didn't put enough attention on providing customer service and the actual taste of their food. I appreciate it if they were to going for a unique brand, but don't do it by butchering the original taste of dim sum. For example: spring rolls should be little yellow tubular things with shrimp inside, what we actually got were these white shrunken toilet paper rolls with more crust than shrimp. Another example: sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf should be what literally sounds like, the restaurant got the banana leaf part right except the leaves were wrapped in white sheets as if they were pre-packaged). People go have dim sum because they want dim sum, not some weird variation of it. The plates and cutlery were dirty. Also, it smelled bad (a bit like hot garbage) around the cashier's counter - not sure if they store their waste properly.

Good to know that I'm actually not the only one who got confronted by the Neptune staff about the lack of gratuity! And to the Neptune management: your staff was NOT inquiring about what went wrong with the service, she TOLD me that there was less than 10% tips and that she usually get 10% or more. I think this is a chronic problem since more than a couple of the customers have experienced this. I would avoid this restaurant at all cost! There's nothing apecial about their food anyway so there's no reason for me to go back ever!

Thank you for all valuable comments. The Management of Neptune Seafood Restaurant would like to thank you for all your valuable comments. Your comments are leading us to progress. We will consider your comments for reference and improvement.

We would like to clarify the position of "requesting for tips". Our Company's policy is never allowed employee to ask for extra/additional tips. However, when we noticed the customers' tips was underpaid or even didn't pay tips, we would inquire the customers about our services and/or quality of food. We understand when customers were having a pleasant dining experience, they would be more than happy to tip the staff. Conversely, it may have something happened. We only wanted to understand and if anything mistake, we have to apologize.

Neptune Seafood Restaurant ensure our best service and quality of food at all time. If you see anything wrong when dining at our Restaurant, you're welcomed to discuss with our Duty Manager at any time.

Thank you for your attention.

Management
Neptune Seafood Restaurant

Worst and the most hilarious experience ever. I just had the worst dinner at a supposed-to-be-classy-restaurant.
1. we ordered ç«č笙 (bamboo fungus) dish and it had none. We asked the waiter and he pointed to a cheap bean curd. Bamboo fungus is expensive and I suppose they changed the ingredients and didn't bother changing the menu; or just too cheap.
2. my cousin ordered seafood fried rice which was 18$. The only sea food was shrimp, which was cut into the size of a rice. Still could hardly see any. I would not be surprised if they told me they only used 2 shrimps to make it; cheap.
3. we ordered scallop pea sprouts but garlic ones came which was not even on the menu. We paid 19.8$ for a plate of plain vegetable that was not even plenty; cheap.

Never coming back again

Omg! They are spreading!. I just did some research and discover that the lousy service which are well known is spreading all over the lower mainland. From chinese cuisine ...neptune seafood, won ton house, to japanese food TOYAMA at 737 Seymour street. Surrey central city mall, and they even dare to operate an Italian restaurant in downtown @780 thurlow street.

Omg! They are spreading like disease...... Surrey central mall shoppers BEWARE!

-----07 Apr, 2014-----

Hey, not enough gratuities.. Gratitude given depends on the service. There were no service whatsoever, you have to ask two different persons to change plates after the alaska crabs. Took us 10 mins to get the plates changed. Refill teapots have to requested each time.
I tipped $40.00 for a $439.00 bill before tax, the waitress said it was not enough and have to tip 10% oF the 439.00 +tips. Omg! I just gave her the few dollars in cash to avoid ruining the evening.

The food is average and the portion is only enough for eight not ten. I would never go back to any of the Neptune restaurants and wonton house. The quality of food is average. I would emails all my contacts for not dining there. Anyways, Good luck, for those still planning to dine there for the first time, expect the worst and you should be okay,

Food Lover. Servers are generally impolite and management is either clueless or could care less as long as the place is filled each day.

Tipping is not mandatory. We should only tip if you feel the server was deserving or the food was prepared to ones delight.

I can not recall when I was there the last time. It has to be inferior serve or food was so-so but having seeing all the reviews I think I will stay away and not be negative about it.
Kaj
Shitty service, overpriced and only care about their Asian customers. Better off going to a different place
Keith
Made an appointment but they said they didnt record about it and with no apologies. Told us to wait for at least an hour.

Good value, delicious food. I was worried when I read the majority of the reviews were really bad. I went because they had a table that sits 16 people. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The service was acceptable and typical of most Chinese food resturant. The dim sum dishes had generous portions. For 13 adults and 2 kids, the bill came to $120.00 plus tips. The place is spacious and the decor is quite comfortable. I definitely would return for the lunch.
Rain
Super good food and service. I'm surprised at the number of negative comments below about service. I came with my mom, my aunt, and her son. We reserved and were seated quickly. We ordered pecking duck, fried chicken knee, honey garlic spare ribs, fried rice, crab, and shrimps.

All I can say is wow. It was all so fresh, hot, and so good. I couldn't get myself to put my utensils down! Definitely one of the best Chinese places I've been to. I had such a good experience here, maybe because my aunt knew the manager. I'm a bit hesitant to go back based on the reviews here, but I probably will some time.
FoodCraver
Unbelieavably TERRIBLE service. Food is mediocre, customer service was absolutely HORRIBLE! Didn't carry enough change on hand so paid 8% tips and the middle-aged floor manager woman actually counted the amount of money IN FRONT OF YOU to make her point, to make matters more awkward, confronted about her always receiving 10% tip, well, she's not even worth a cent of tip IMO. Will never consider going back, so many other same-tiered or better wonton restaurants than this. This woman should go back to get more CS training before coming on floor again.

Special event dinner. Had dinner here for a special occasion so there was a set menu of some pretty standard fare dishes which all came out promptly and tasted good.

One problem was the portions for each table party of ten was really small which didn't make it a filling meal.

Service was excellent as they met our every needs so definitely recommend this place to host special events.

Food was really great ! Service was unlike what other reviewers claimed to be. Waitress were friendly and attentive! Would return again when I visit Vancouver

Never Going Back Again, Ever. We reserved 2 tables for our annual dim sum event and everybody in our group had a great time but I didn't expect what happened at the end. Just when our group started heading out, a friend of mine asked one of the waiter if they could bring his take order which he paid in advance and the waiter said 'where's the receipt' and he told him several times the other waiter took it already along with his payment. The waiter kept insisting that without a receipt, he cannot get his takeout. Are you fricken kidding me ! This waiter has such a horrible attitude. We spoke to the manager and complained about the waiter and left, without my friend's take out. My friend got scammed and left with a bad experience. I will not go back to this place ever again I.

It should not matter whether you are Chinese or not, a Chinese restaurant should be treating their customer with respect regardless what their nationality is or race or color.

The price is a little pricey for a regular dim sum place and the service is not that great, they don't smile and they don't talk.

I will not recommend this place at all.
Happy Eater 12
Servers' Service - need to be improved. Read so many negative reviews but still would like to give it a try, therefore went there for dim sum brunch today (a Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m.).

Lots of tables available, still not yet full when I left at about 11:00).

Service - average for the Manager and Waitresses & Waiters; below average for the servers (no smile, just placed the dishes whereever they liked)

Food - above average quality except there were 2 slices of cold veges placed besides the Prawns Rice Rolls, yike.

Based on the fact that there are so many good quality Chinese Restaurants at Richmond to choose from, if they want to have better business, they should provide better services.

Absolutely UNacceptable RUDE service!!!. Have you ever been to a Chinese restaurant and feel mistreated because you do not speak their language (Mandarin or Cantonese)? Guess what? I am a Mandarin-speaking Chinese and that was the *S i got on a Saturday lunch visit. My family (7 people) had to wait nearly 40 minutes even though we arrived on time for our reservation! However, groups of same amount people who came after us got seated way before we do! Why? Because they spoke Cantonese? You be the judge! The hostess and their managers were extremely rude! How was the food you asked? It was almost close to what you would expect for a dim sum restaurant but with no surprise (to be more specific, nothing that was surprisingly out of ordinary that makes me want to go back!). Service and food are two essential elements for a restaurant, while Neptune Seafood is clearly lacking both in many levels. I personally do not think "Rudeness" is part of the Chinese culture.

Food took about an hour to arrive, and service was bad. When trying to ask a waiter for help, they simply avoided eye contact and one actually said (and I quote), "Ask someone else". This is unacceptable and I don't think we will be eating here again.

Terrible Service. Treating my friends for an early morning dim sum. The tall captain was probably just got out from bed, very rude and order us to sit near the kitchen although there were many table unoccupied. We found it too noisy and ask for a change. We were then ask to move to a table otherside the toilet. We stood up and walk away.

We have been there many times for lunch and dinner and the food were very good. The services have been good too. They have cheaper prices for early dim sum, and may be this was the reason why the customers were poorly treated.

Good place for herbal chinese chicken hotpot...u cook it yourself right at ur own table. they provide u with a ceramic pot that perches on top of a portable gas stove. overall good + fast casual dishes here.

Good quality Dim Sum but bad service. Par for the course like other Dim Sum places. 20% off before 11am.

Not Good. Went to this restuarant with a big group. We received terrible service and foods were not good too. I now remember why I do not go there..... they are just not putting efforts to serve their customers well. I just returned from the lunch and I am so thirsty. They must have put lots of MSG into their foods. And they are very overpriced too. Will not go back.

Went there for dinner last night ... Bad service, bad food and over priced ;( not going again !!

We ordered a $228 king crab set dinner for 6ppl... They said the set only includes a 7lb king crab where the smallest they have in stock is 8lb so we needa pay a $25 difference... Turns out the crab was dramatically 1/2 live 1/2 dead... ie. some legs taste fresh & some don't... And nothing was inside the huge shell... wonder if they sold the meat & the yellowish crab roe to another table... The Peking duck 2-ways were super awkward... The portion of the lettuce wrap was so small that it only had 1/4 of the meat in the dish... All I can say is... They cheat on the size and portion of the main dishes... And I almost forgot to say... The taste is no good at all... Don't waste your money to try this restaurant!!

Been going to this place fairly often for the last few weeks for dimsum, and the advantage of going with a big group is that I got to sample quite a few dishes. Price is slightly higher but the portion and flavor were at par. I ended up getting the VIP card ($30, no expiry date) which gives 10% off lunch/dinner. If you get the cheque before 12pm I believe it's 20% off :)

Sucks big time, server rude. I had always go to this restaurant many times, but recently their new server was horrible, starring at us when put the money and quickly run to stop us before we left to ask for more tips, they want $8 bucks for 38.50 meals sighhh
never visit this place anymore

Used to be good. Just dim sum now.. Greasy, greasy, greasy!

Dinner. This restaurant is far too over rated. Their price is far too high, in a scale of 1 to 10 is 9 but the quality f food is very poor. In a scale of 1 to 10 it is 1. We had dinner at this restaurant last week, we order one dish of shark fin soup and four other common dishes. It turned out that all the five dishes turned out to be of very poor quality. It appears to us that the cook did not even know how to cook as we have not tried such poor quality of food. However, the bill was $132.00 which is too expensive.

Newly renovated. I was there last week for dinner. The place is quite pleasantly decorated as opposed to the look more than a year ago when I was also there at an invited dinner. The food was mediocre then and has not shown any improvement this time after the reno. The service is still ordinary not showing any sophistication as in some of the higher-end Chinese Restaurants where entertaining is preferred. I also find that the menu is not cheap particularly when the quality and portion are not there. The location of the Restaurant, however, is very central being on No. 3 Road and close enough for walking from the Landsdowne Canada Line station. I would not go there unless I am invited.

Good food. Food is good, service mediocre, prices average

Fresh made Chinese donuts for congee are light, crisp and NOT oily! The Neptune Wonton House is a well established Richmond dining spot for those looking for tasty Cantonese style lunch, dinner or late night snacks. A 3 dish lunch menu able to satisfy a couple of people costs $12.99, before tax and tip. Worth a visit more than once!

Pricey but good Dim Sum. We ordered a variety of items from the dim sum menu and found all to be high quality and good tasting.
The prices are somewhat higher than expected and the serving sizes were on the smaller side.
Overall a good meal and we would return when in the area.

Disgusted. By the fact anyone would eat at, let alone name a restaurant "sharkfin" anything. Condoning unethical and unsustainable fishing practices is ignorant at BEST.

Quality and Tate have declined in recnt years. Dim sum is average. Rather have the food they serve beside, Neptune noodle house.

... not as hot and fresh as last visit's; seriously, what the heck happened today?!...

... very fragrant egg custard of the perfect consistency and color; pastry shell delicate and flaky...
Long Live Feasts
A prime location. It’s been a while since I’ve come here, the last time being before their renovation. Yet, it continually seems to be popular, with line ups almost as bad as Sea Harbour. The new space is classier, prompting higher prices and more carefully laid out dishes that cater to a more upscale audience. There are the basics shrimp dumplings and shao mai, but alongside, they offer more lavish options like lobster dumplings or abalone with conpoy rice wrap. I have yet to try those. Unlike the experience reviewers have lately been commenting on however, the service I received was agreeable. Efficient and acceptable. Food wise, the stand out was their almond tea. Lightly sw

Pork Shao Mai ($5.68). The pork was chopped and not pureed, which everyone enjoyed. Tasted legit and fresh.

Neptune Seafood has been around for awhile and I remember coming here often when I was younger. A few years back they closed for renovation and since then the food quality has dropped. I'm guessing that the main chef left when they were closed?
Constant Cravings
The server also asked if we preferred more meat or more skin for the wraps. We went with a bit more meat. The wraps/crepes for the duck seemed to be doughier and thicker than usual but I didn’t mind.
Myyummycravings
Back to this dish, the bitter melon was really crispy and of course bitter to the mouth. The beef was really tender and the black bean sauce was well coated evenly over the whole dish giving it the perfect amount of flavor. I would recommended trying this dish if you ever visit here.
Myyummycravings
The crab was really fresh and was outrageously sweet. As for the deep fried crab dish, there was plenty of meat, basically there was meat in every bite and I did not have to do a lot of spitting out for the shell. It wasn't too salty and the chili gave a nice kick to the dish. Just perfect!~ The dish didn't go soggy either, all the pieces were still nice and crisp by the time we got to it after eating the legs.

food overall was fresh and pretty good, service was average with the rest of the staff
Two Hungry Piglets
Took about 45 minutes but it finally arrived at our table and I was pleasantly surprised. Rather then swimming in a glutinous cornstarch-thickened brown sauce, this came in a light savoury almost soup-like sauce with a hint of seafood. I really liked this dish more than normal because you could taste the contents of the roll (love the mushrooms and pork!)

Sauteed Beef with Ginger and Pineapple - funny, there wasn't even any pineapple in the dish but there were tons of Ginger!

I love traditional Chinese food, and Neptune never disappoints. They are my comfort food Chinese restaurant in Richmond because over the years they held their consistency. What they excel in is their Congee, Noodle and Rice. They are also good at dinner combos, which you can pick between 2,4,6,8 dishes within a set menu, and it comes with soup and rice. The first thing we ordered was Squid Balls in Fish Broth . I am not sure if they include this on the menu but it's definitely recommended. Clean fish broth with tasty squid balls. To be honest, I only order this so I can taste the soup. Spicy Shrimp: Shrimp marinated in a spicy sauce, and then chilled to serve. This is the perfect appetizer to an Asian beer.

My particular favourite was the lobster on top of yee mein noodles which soaked up the decadent cream sauce.

The food here is pretty good, I liked most of the dishes. Service wasn’t spectacular, but acceptable (meaning their service could be improved upon). My favourite dishes were the congee and the rice.
604 Munchies
We never got to take pictures of the interior on our previous visit because it was just that busy and crowded. This time was different, we had a quiet early dinner and as you can see, the restaurant was 90% empty. I really liked these lighting fixture they got, very modern chic. lol
FOOD FOR BUDDHA
The wontons were so overcooked that the wraps broke apart easily. The MSG broth was very salty.
My Secret Eden
This place is actually facing no. 3 road, you can't miss it. Well, we were there in the morning for dim sum. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. This first dish is actually a sui mai with mushroom and chicken. It was unique dish, since you don't
Eat 'n About
I’ve recently received a question from a Bellingham resident regarding Chinese cuisine. Just so it’s easier for her to see my reply, I will post it here. Here’s her question: “ I am from Bellingham and would like to learn about real Chinese cuisine. The options that I have here are nothing like what you present. My biggest interest is noodles: how to order, what to look for, how to eat. Also, I am very intrigued by hot pots (which base do I order?) and dumplings. I am an adventurous eater, but I don’t think that duck tongue is on my wish list. Could you or any of your readers guide me through Richmond? I will be eating at Northern Delicacy today! Thank you! “ My disclaimer is, these are obviously just my humble views. She did ask for guidance from my readers too so feel free to post your advice in the comments section! Hi Catherine thanks for visiting! I’ll answer the hotpot question first. I have most experience in Hk-style hotpot. I find that the

Once again, Ben is craving for dim sum. We went to Neptune Seafood Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon on prompto. That is not a good idea and the restaurant was packed. We had to wait for 30 minutes for our table. As we waited, we noticed that most of the customers coming in had reservation.
