Review Taco Luis - Richmond

Munchica
This food court stall doesn't look like much and I wasn't expecting much from this place at all. However, I was quite surprised to discover they serve some of the best Tex-Mex food I have ever tried. I had 2 of the chicken crispy burritos and they were made fresh and fried to order. PEOPLE! THIS PLACE HAS THE MOST AMAZING UNIQUE SWEET SALSA! Like for real.... You need to try their salsa... It's tangy, refreshing, and sweet. This is not some typical store bought salsa but it's definitely one of a kind. And the crispy burritos were very very good. Like freshly junky very very good. It really hits the spot for its genre of food. The prices are quite fair too. A food court must visit.

This spot has been around for ages and always reliable with their quality and service. Their tater tots are hands down the best around! Crispy, soft and tasty! Always end up going with Taco Luis when I visit this food court, no competition.

Still one of the best places to get a fast taco salad. Toppings are great and that deep and crisp shell really stands out. Miss the days when you could pour the salsa on top by yourself but I guess covid changes things. Crisp tater tots complete the meal.

I went to the Oakridge Mall location for years, before the mall closed for renovations. Now, I find an excuse to visit the Lansdowne location whenever I can, even though it is farther away. We always get a big, tasty meal, for a reasonable price. The staff are consistently friendly and efficient. Although the mall is currently closing at 7:00 pm every day, Taco Luis sometimes closes earlier.

Worst experience ever, bought a burrito there, there was an actual bug inside! A bug...it must have been in the lettuce and they put in the burrito. Very unclean place, just nasty. Will never go there again, will be reporting them to the health authorities. Re using the same plate when they make burritos. Meat looked old and stale. Probably don’t make anything fresh. But an actual bug inside the burrito is so gross, I threw it away as soon as I saw it. Avoid this place at all costs.

I love this place. Been coming here for over 10 years. Best tater tots in town. I don't know how they are always so crispy. If you're looking for a well priced, quick and delicious place to eat come here!

I decided to place an order personally this morning instead of using Ubereats again since last week. To my surprise, the staffs were rude while placing an order for their daily special combo. No communications skills or acknowledgments whatsoever when I tried advising the staff what my daughter wanted. I decided not to place a second order for myself. Definitely will not return.

No joke, I hadn't been to Taco Luis in 15 years while I was out of town. I was so excited to go back and see it with my own eyes. And it was not only still there, it was exactly as I remembered it in all the good ways! I don't remember what my nickname was but I'm so glad to have gone. I'm going to be back soon, as soon as Dr Henry says we can go out again.

Terminator 1 was an average movie. Didnt give me hopes for Terminator 2 but rather the second part turned out to be a blockbuster!!
Same goes for this place. After having tried so many Tacos from various "Taco Bels" I had my suspicions. But this place turned out to be much better. The service is good, although a little mechanical, and they can always work on quantity of food, but the taste hit it.
Loved this place and will definitely revisit.

I’m sorry but this is the worst taco place ever. I thought Mucho Burrito and Taco Bell was terrible but no... Taco Luis served us super cold tacos. Not recommended :(

Had the beef burrito combo. Portions were generous. Prices were reasonable. Tater tots were done right, crispy and crunchy not greasy. Popular as the lines were long all the time we had lunch.

• Been going here for more than 15+ years
• Fresh ingredients, nice crispy taco salad shell, lightly seasoned chicken
• good for sharing as a snack
Tried this place because of the 4+ rating too. Only tried a chicken burrito and it was not very good at all. The diced tomatoes tasted old as well as the chicken was dry and bland. Sauses they put on didn't look good, didn't have any taste in the burrito. Food is cheap and so is the quality.

Consistently a good value for cheap and filling food. Super 12 special with tater tots and a drink will set you back $8 and change, and guaranteed to fill you up.

I used to eat here all almost every day when doing an intern job in Richmond. Not authentic Mexican but who cares, the chicken burrito is so good. The price is decent for what you get which is really filling. I still come here for lunch if I find myself in Richmond just for nostalgia sake and it's still good.

The owner of Taco Luis also owns Villa Vietnamese.
Taco Luis is not much of mexican but almost like... anyway, if your purpose is to satisfy your hunger and have a reasonably priced meal, it isn't regretting to eat in this fast food place.

The orders are prepared in the kitchen and you can have a choice of what to put in your order of tacos or burritos. They have rice and taters or you can simply ask them to prepare a salad.
The price? $ 6.00 to a little bit over $ 7.00
Customer Service: good
Others: does not hesitate to give you more paper napkins and sauce.

This is another Nanzaro’s food adventure. He loves food which he has the say of what ingredients he wants.
Taco Luis in Lansdowne Mall is one of the places he went for lunch after school.
Nanzaro’s choice of accompaniments include lettuce, red onions, sour cream, shredded cheese, jalapeno and hot banana peppers. He loves spicy food.
Note from Nanzaro: the servers usually add all toppings by default if you do not tell them your preference.

Terrible!!. I saw the high review on urbanspoon and so we decided to give it a try. For $7.25 we got a lot of food each: a huge chicken burrito wrap, a pile of tater tots and a pop.... the pop and tots were good but the chicken wrap was disgusting!! the taco seasoning sauce was sickly sweet.... it tasted like it had so much sugar in the sauce and the salsa that we couldn't eat more than 3 bites each. We will not be going back, so gross!

It's ok. Fresh ingredients huge portions but lacks flavor. It's fast, cheap and fresh. Nothing to rave about but filling and not offensive.

Worse service ever!!. Ordered a chicken soft taco to go as well as an order of tater tots. Got two tater tots and no taco which I discovered when I got to the office. I also called them and was told that I hadn't paid for the taco but paid fro two tater tots!!! huh! how to you get two tater tots when a chicken soft taco was ordered too. i even watched them make it. Poor poor service

Perfect, the birthplace of our great mexican chinese friend. Vancouver has lots of mediocre mexican restaurants and I say it with conviction. But this place, although, it is only a foodcourt has a special twist to it. Fresh salad, fresh meat, nice pico de gallo and it was all made and invented by the original owner. This is a true and faithful definition of tex-mex food. It is better than most of the mediocre places out there. Fresh and cheap and with lots of good humour. Now, Luis has expanded and our friend, the owner, is taking care of his oakridge store. I sometimes go there and cant resist seeing him. One time, he served me and put extra everything to thank me for coming all the way there. You rock Luis.

Great Food for Cheap!. I said "Extra guac".She game me 3x the normal amount. No extra charge. This is the third time I've been here, and each time, I've been impressed with the quality and price of the food. Normally you get what you paid for, but here, you get more.

For like $7.50 after tax, you can get the 12" special (innuendo likely done on purpose) which contains a 12" burrito, tater tots on the side, and a drink. Not bad at all. The burrito is freshly made in front of you and stuffed full of ingredients,, while the tater tots are amazingly crispy. Overall great experience.

Cheap food. Better than taco time or taco bell but its still the same old. ppl were nice though so no complaints towards the staff. food was very cheap. i had the burrito, it was ok. nothing to rant and rave about. simple food basic taste

Taco bowls!!!. The ower here is the greatest guy ever. Love the taco bowls, which you don't see at very many places. They really load the toppings on here. The meat is not outstanding, but it works. Mexi fries are hilarious- tater tots with salsa. But it wouldn't be Taco Luis without them.

Great, fast Mexican food with a smile, good quality ingredients and CHEAP. Go for the ten inch burrito every time.

Like Taco Bell but with far higher quality ingredients. Great food & value.

Sooo guess what happened yesterday guys?! I FAILED MY DRIVERS TEST. Yes. I failed. I KNEW I was done when the guy put down his clipboard and just continued watching me drive LOL. He actually had to take control of the steering wheel at one point when I was trying to make a right turn at an intersection, but halfway the green turn signal turned red LOL...I knowww, I'm such a fail. Wahhh, I waited 3 months for this test (I booked it in August) and I blew.It. My dad got mad at me because now we'll have to waste more money on the test fees LOL! Anyways...I went to Taco Luis after my driving test at Landsdowne to cheer myself up haha...food makes everything better, right? No really, I felt better after eating LOL!! SIGNATURE DISHES Taco Luis specializes in...tacos LOL! What else? They're famous around town for their yummy tacos made with fresh ingredients, at super low prices! They actually have two locations, one in Oakridge Mall, and this one, in Landsdowne! SERVICE 1 /5 stars Service here is...meh. Really meh. I guess business is so good that they don't bother being nice to their customers lol. When I went to order the guy looked impatient and he (jokingly) mocked me when I was going "Uhh..." LOL. The other two girls working there looked bored, and didn't smile or thank me when I paid. When I went back to ask for a take out box, I said "Can I have a box please?" the lady slanted her eyes and said "You mean a...c ontainer?" The way she said it and her tone of voice, just really threw me off, like she was trying to correct me, and looked really annoyed that I was asking for something extra. I also couldn't locate the straws because the counter was pretty cluttered, and when I asked, the girl just half pointed at the straws with a dull expression on her face. On the plus side, I do have to commend them for being so quick with the orders though, it only took 2 mins to get my food! AMBIANCE - Casual It's a food court, nothing much else to say lol. The

When I’m in the mood to absolutely stuff my face but not burn a gaping hole in my wallet, I like to head to Taco Luis. Although there is a location at Oakridge, the one at Landsdowne is the original. Thankfully though, the quality is pretty consistent at both, and so is the great value! Anyways, onto the food. Today, I decided to get the 12 inch beef burrito. It comes with ground beef, lettuce, carrots, onion, cucumber, a Pop and yummy tater tots. The veggies, as usual, were all very fresh and made the darn thing even more filling than it already was. The beef was very moist and flavourful (it blended with the cheese, sour cream and guacamole well!). I don’t know how they season their tots, but I can’t get enough of them. Could probably just sit there and eat a plate of them all by themselves, haha. Good: -Yum tater tots… -Very solid, filling eat -Cheap -Friendly service Bad: -It’s not going to be the same quality as a Tacqueria, but that’s to be expected -Can get really busy Closing

I have been to a few Mexican places, though none that I can remember that was as delicious as this visit to Taco Luis. The food was excellent, it was crispy, but not leaking of oil. The soft burrito itself was actually pretty healthy, imo. Carbs, tons of fresh veggies, and the fats. Although, liquid cheese was sliding down the burrito so I had to use a fork to finish the last quarter of it. The crispy burritos may be too... crispy for some people's tastes, but I loved them.

Overall, for five bucks, it's a great deal for a lazy dinner or a quick lunch if you are around the area. All their items are made on the spot and seem very fresh so I would definitely recommend Taco Luis.

I haven't eaten Taco Luis in a long while and I was craving it for the longest time ever. I don't eat Mexican food much -- actually Taco Luis, located in the Lansdowne food court, sets my standard for what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. (My standards are probably wrong.) But it sure is better than Taco Time. When I was in high school, it was already pretty popular and sometimes we would drive here to get tacos! The owner is very charismatic and the store is family run (I believe, though he denies it and says that they are the "bosses"). There is usually a long line up since they make the tacos right in front of you. That day I waited a while too, but the shot above was taken after the meal (around 2pm) so that's why there's not a lot of people. I think it's by far the most popular food stand in Lansdowne! I went to Taco Luis too often that I was kind of surprised to see the people at Taco Time wrap my taco in their little counter inside. At Taco Luis, they ask w

I almost always order the Beef Taco Salad when I come here. They make it to order and pile all of the ingredients into a deep and crispy tortilla bowl.

The story of how Taco Luis got started would inspire many ambitious individuals with an entrepreneurial soul to go out there and just take a risk. Though I won't elaborate in case I get the facts wrong. I have heard numerous positive stories about how one hardworking man from China created this successful family-run taco joint. As I spend most of my time staring at the food court at Lansdowne mall, I often see that, day after day, there is only one vendor that always has crazy line-ups while the surroundings are nothing but a wasteland. I got introduced to the Tater tots deluxe just months ago and became addicted to it like novacane. It's nothing like Taco Bell/Taco Time junk. First, the large take out box weighs like a rock. Once opened, it is literally exploding with so much toppings. You would find all kinds of vegetables you'd expect in a salad, plus pickled carrots and peppers, a slab of seasoned ground beef or chicken, a generous load of cheese, sour cream, guacamole. D

This food court eatery is always solid for lunch (especially with college kids) with a diverse menu, fresh ingredients, and quality Mexican food. Try the tacos, burritos, or fries deluxe. It’s great value and a quick but tasty meal.

I wonder if it's the cheap and tasty food-court Mexican food or the charasmatic owner that brings people to Taco Luis. On my lunches, I sometimes go by Lansdowne food court and I always see a line up in front of Taco Luis. It never fails though, that this place is always busy. Even during Nibbles and Bites (food festival at Thompson Community Centre), Taco Luis drew a crowd. Ah, memories of my childhood came rushing back. My parents occasionally took us to Lansdowne and it was always a treat to get a crispy beef burrito from Taco Don (not even sure if that chain is around anymore). The recipe is a bit different (they've got a bit of cheese in the ground beef and they cap each burrito end with a Mexi-fry), but when you only dish out 3 bucks for two beef burritos, who really cares?

Taco Luis is famous in Richmond for cheap Tex-Mex food, with (so I’ve heard) numerous Kwantlen students flooding the food court at lunch for a quick and easy lunch. In fact, some people will cross a bridge just to eat here. Taco Luis is so popular that they’ve even opened up a second location at Oakridge Mall.

I think Taco Luis at the food court at Lansdowne Mall is pretty famous, particularily to the students at Kwantlen College (it even has a fan page on Facebook). It’s with good reason, it has big portions and small prices. Boyfriend frequented the place dur
