Review Silver Tower Cafe Restaurant - Richmond

Grease Monkey Tuners
Lots of wide choices food from western to Asian dishes, great value and awesome taste. They are open late which is very convenient when you have those cravings. The place is very busy and the speed of the service is not bad. The parking is lot is always full in the evenings and weekends. Everything we go here.. this place doesn't disappoint.. we will keep coming back! It's worth the trip

Late dinner on Friday, no parking outside the restaurant, hence 4 out of 5 stars. They are very reasonably priced, especially with other restaurants pricing keep going up, which make it a even better deal. I wasn’t expecting the quality to be this good, because of the low price. The fish was cooked perfectly, chicken was just average, but the portion size was huge. The tomato soup was a little on the small side, but overall this is a pretty good place.

Great late night food and reasonably priced. We’re here every Friday night after hockey. The food and service have never disappointed us. Like all HK Style restaurants, All the meals includes soup and cold drink. Parking lot in the strip mall and streets are always full. We park in the parking lot on the corner of Kwantlen and Alexandra for $1/hr.

If you are looking for an old fashioned westernized Cantonese restaurant, this is the place. They cooked early Cantonese immigrant food that not only serves Asian but for White people too. It is a special kind of Chinese cuisine that looks like Chinese cuisine but not really… But takes good tho, and will get you stuffed without hurting your wallet.

I don't go here much but I like the place. One of the few restaurants left with filling portions for relatively cheap prices, considering dining out prices have gone up 40-100% thanks to reckless irresponsible fiscal and monetary policies by our government.

With a huge selection of food, great portion sizes, and fantastic hours, this place has moved quickly to near the top of my places to eat while on a night shift, or at the end of a long day. The value for money is fantastic, and my wife and I can often get 2-3 portions out of our dishes. This place isn’t super healthy or the fanciest dining in Richmond, but I think it should be those things either… if I had to guess at the owners intentions, I would guess that it well fulfills its purpose of being a fantastic family restaurant, a great gathering spot for friends, amazing take-out, good service, and good value! If you’re looking for those things, I would highly recommend eating here!

This is HELL dont even want to give any star, but theres no 0 star option. The waitresses cant speak english Extremely BAD service attitude:they just dropped off the dishes, shout out the dish names in cantonese impatiently and leave over oily food wiz unfresh cheese no hand sanitizer on the table(no prevention for covid) i used cash to pay after eating, and due to the bad service attitude,i dont really wanna give any tips, but she just took my coins away aggressively with no no permission The WOREST restaurant ive ever been to in my lifetime🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 Should be CLOSED

Authentic HK style food and late night option is really good too, bad thing is lack of parking and lack of staffs available. But damn, they make my night happy and full

Silver Tower is a longstanding Hong Kong style restaurant in Richmond. It has been around for a long time as evident by the exterior, but they seem to have renovated inside at some point.

Our go to place for the best (Chinese) Russian borscht soup! Their HK styled baked meats on rice is consistently good. Sad they took away the ox tongue (that was one of our favorites), probably because it was too expensive. Over the years their menu prices has been steadily climbing, and their portions getting smaller. I guess you could only blame inflation...

I like this place so much better than #9 for late night dinners. It's great place to go if you're out late and night. My favorite dish here is the Portuguese curry rice.

As with every other Chinese cafe, service quality only goes so far.. (I’m chinese btw) The food, however, is usually the reason why customers come back time and time again (also because were used to the crap service at Chinese restaurants/cafes). Here, I recommend the BBQ duck with round rice noodle under the “Noodle in Soup” section. Although it’s really the only thing I’ve ever eaten at this cafe (because it’s so good and I’m scared of wasting money on something new if I don’t like it), I’ve tried many a “BBQ duck in noodle soup” dishes in my life, and I must say this is the best one I’ve ever eaten! The noodles have great texture, the broth is delicious, and the duck is well seasoned, crispy, and juicy. (Although not as good as the BBQ duck you can get from the restaurants Shoom in Vancouver (the best ever by the way).) The iced lemon tea is also the best I’ve ever tasted as well! Perfect ratio of tea, syrup, and lemon! (And not too watery either)

TLDR; best: BBQ duck in noodle soup + iced lemon tea

came here after sending a friend to the airport, and ate here for late night, asked for what's good, the waiter said everything is good in a cantoenglish, hmmm that sounds more promising to me rather than doubtful, so ordered the some canto dishes, baked rice, curry fish ball, lamb, and a few more things, overall i really do like it and the price is awesome as well, meat was tender and sauce was savoury on most. definitely good will come back again when I'll come back.

Came here looking for a place with baked pork chop on rice for the hubby. It was a bit of a wait and it took a while to request a table in the chaos of the waiting area but we were seated sooner than their 20 minute estimate. The first person we spoke to wasn't the friendliest but our waitress was. Drinks came out immediately and the food came out as it was made.

The food was very hot (baked pork chop, beef brisket & baked seafood/chicken) and the kids loved every dish they tried. I enjoyed it-can't say it was the best I've ever had but it did hit the spot. The iced coffee was my favourite - nice espresso flavour! I might not crave the dishes but would return for quick hot food with the kids if my other favourite spots had too long a wait!

My go to place on the weekend for some late night Chinese/western grub. Great portions with good prices. Don't expect quality though. Service is hit and miss. Most of the time the waitresses are not around. My baked spaghetti came 20 minutes after my friend's fried rice. Parking is also an issue as they share the lot with other businesses.

Average food that is offered in large portions at an affordable price with rude waitresses. I only come here if I need something filling for the day. Their cutleries aren't even cleaned properly, which isn't surprising for a chinese cafe like this.

If you want something that offers quantity over quality, check it out. Otherwise, there are better places on food road.

Food was okay, service is absolutely terrible. I had asked for soy sauce and white pepper four times and the waitress just chooses to ignore me, adding to the fact that she looked annoyed whenever we'd ask for something as simple as a napkin or refill on our tea.

○good service
○good food/ I haven't tasted anything bad so far
○parking can be a hassle
○family friendly
○average price / similar to other Hong Kong style cafes/ big portions
○would I go back? Yes

Silver Tower, Silver Tower I finally get to do a food blog review about you! This used to be a favorite among some of the boys for some time so I got quite a bit of press about it before trying it for myself. And the verdict is... not bad. Baked dishes are really nice, affordable with large portions. Being full for under $20 is a cinch here! Decor is pretty standard as is the service. Typical Hong Kong cafe, though this one has a pretty expansive menu to its credit. And your food comes quick! Silver Tower you're alright.

Been here after soccer match and this fried beef noodle is simply disgusting. Perhaps the chef is on a bad day and so do I.
Complete awful n disgrace!

I installed Zomato just to write this review. I had a really unpleasant experience tonight (Sept 11) at around 1 am. Silver Tower's hours online and in store states that they close at 3 am every day even during holidays. I arrived at the restaurant at around 1 am today and the door was locked even though there were still customers inside. So I called the store to ask when they are closed. The person who answered told me that they are closed already. I said "but online it says you guys are closed at 3 am" and I asked why they are closing early and she replied with " tonight is a special night so we are closed early". So I asked "why is it a special night?" She said "The kitchen needs to clean up". I do not understand their reasoning at all. I said "so other nights the kitchen doesn't need cleaning up and you don't have close early??" She replied with "YES. IT'S CLOSED IT'S CLOSED" and from that point onwards when I tried to talk she just kept saying "It's closed or we are closed". Then she hung up on me.

I want to complain because their hours are not reliable and their service is bad as their reasoning for closing early is unreasonable as well.

Aside from that, I've been to Silver Tower several times before and their food is decent.

An unpleasant experience. a waitress who was completely unhelpful. Food which arrived a seriatum rather than together. We had to summon waitresses, remind them of water and beer. The dish ordered by one of us was ordered "very spicy" bit was so bland that hot sauce was required. Not planning to return.

This is another lunch before Ben’s business trip. He suggested a few restaurants for the boys to decide and we ended up with Silver Tower Cafe. Since Ben will be away, he took charge of the ordering. The first item was Malaysian Beef Fried Rice. It was a decent fried rice but the flavour of belacan was not strong enough.

Real late late night Hong Kong style cafe till 2 or 3 or even later at times. The have 2 choice meats combo specials with choice of starch and comes with soup and drink. They also have late night menu specials. This place has been around for a while. Good place for take out as well.

Update: March 24 2016 9:00pm
I ordered the beef and bitter melon set. Comes with soup, rice, cold lemon tea. My girlfriend ordered D9 on the menu, baked chicken and prawns on rice with tomato and cream sauce.

The baked dish was very very good, wow...
And my bitter melon wasn't over cooked, bright and green, and the beef very tender and fresh. I'm bumping my 3 rating up to 3.5!
Unfortunately our Lady server is very rude, she was wearing all black. If you get the other lady server with a pony tail wearing glasses, she's the best!

It’s been a long time since we dined at Silver Tower Cafe Restaurant since there are so many Hong Kong style restaurant in Richmond. On Labour Day, we decided to have lunch at Silver Tower for old time sake. Ben and Nanzaro had iced milk tea and Iced Ovaltine while I had hot milk tea. The strange thing is that the iced milk tea has a $1 extra charge (which is the norm for cold drink) and not the iced Ovaltine.

One of our favorite restaurants to go for breakfast/brunch. However today they forgot my meal so I had to wait for extra 15 min (already waited 45 minutes). We were quite full. The hot chocolate was very good.

Attention everyone going to eat in this restaurant, when making payment please always show the waiter the amount of cash you handed to him (my server was a guy).Just came from Silver Tower, had a very sad and bad experience. I gave enough cash payment for my meal with extra tip of almost 20%. The server came out chasing me and said the cash I gave not enough. I didnt argue but just pay again because it was my fault not counting the cash i gave him.
So make this as a warning to everyone.

A very dark place. Lack of servers. Food is not bad, but customer service is meh. Fairly Tiresome getting the attention of of the servers for anything.

This was pretty yummy considering it being a late night Chinese restaurant! We ordered the deep fried tofu & egg plant hot pot & it came with soup and a bowl of rice. The egg plant was cooked perfectly and the sauce was really yummy! I would recommend this place for any night owls!

HK Milk Tea: Must Try!. This restaurant is pretty much your standard Hong Kong style diner; open from lunch until very late at night. Their food is decent and nothing to rave about. One thing that I really enjoyed from my dining experience was their milk tea! I've had a fair amount of HK milk teas in my life, but this restaurant serves it flawlessly. You must try it!

HK style cafe. We ordered steaks combo with rice. Good portion size with a complimentary drink. The only down side is that the setting is a little dark. We will come back again.

Customer since the late 90's. The current manager has worked here since that time.

It's cheap and good. What else do you want?

Bad food and service. Hey guys and girls ,I been to the silver tower cafe few time and I order the one steak and other stuff at $10 and they always giving me very small steak and the service its not very good at all whoever want to go there,I grandteen ur wont go there again and very bad service

Quality is definitely not a trait to be expected from this disgrace of an establishment. The ingredients were not fresh. The hainan chicken was so cold it hurt my teeth to eat. The rice was stale and hard. The beverages came at the end of the meal. The Service was mediocre at best. I regretted coming here followibg a few bites into my meal. This being Richmond I am positive there are many more Chinese eateries that ones currency can be spent on, for this place does not deserve it.

I use to go to this restaurant for reasonably priced food. However they have very bad waitresses and kitchen staff who often (8/10) we are there screw up (forget whole items) on our orders, which take up to a total of 45 min to get all dishes.
I am never going here again after a waitress took my dinner away after I waited 45 min for my meal after my friends finished their meals. All because we asked how can we resolve the fact that I've been waiting so long.
Never never again.

HK Cafe. Pretty good place to eat, one of my favorite places to eat when you feel like some hk food. i usually order rice with 3 sides dishes with a drink. the bill comes around 15 dollars including tips. decent price for the food well recommend.

Great value at this Hong Kong style cafe. Menu items are very reasonably priced. Only negative thing is that parking can be hard to come by.

Cheap, delicious, open late. Winning combination!. I've been to Silver Tower numerous times as I live in the neighborhood, and have never had a complaint. I actually discovered this restaurant because I was distraught that my previous favorite Hong Kong style cafe on Alexandra Road closed down awhile back, and stumbled upon this restaurant. The decor is very understated like most of its kin, but the food selection is excellent.

I usually stick to my staples of mapo tofu or salted fish and tofu hotpot (they do it very well here). Most of their dishes are part of a combination set that come with your choice of a couple soups -- the tomato soup is excellent -- and a bowl of rice. Although if you're ordering the hot pot I'd definitely suggest bringing your appetite, one bowl of rice is not nearly sufficient to soak up all the tasty sauce!

The price is just right too, with a meal being around $10. Drinks are cheap as well, and I think I saw bottled beer for three or four dollars on the menu. Did I mention it's open late?

My go to place for comfort. I love this place. Cheap prices, fast service. Big time comfort food. Nice cozy booths to enjoy a meal in. I've eaten a ton of the menu, and I have only met one dish I didn't like. It's not spectacular, but good, solid, simple food.

Posted on 1 Hour Ago by angeeelini After a suggestion from a friend, Sleepy and I decided to hit up Silver Tower Cafe after he finished playing hockey. Silver Tower is located in the busy Alexandra Road beside Matsuyama, meaning parking is crazy to find. Luckily for us we found parking in front of the restaurant. It wasn’t that busy during the lunch hour so we got seated right away. It’s so nice to always have someone who speaks Cantonese to do the ordering for me… :D I ordered a cold horlicks to come with my meal. It was standard and tasted good, it was not watered down. My only complaint was that there was too much ice in the drink. I guess I shouldn’t complain because there wasn’t the $1 charge for extra ice like other HK cafes charge. Sleepy was still recovering from a cold from a couple days before, so he wanted to order the Cream Soup with Ham Bits ($4.25) . Playing hockey and ordering creamy soup does not help a cold!

I love the tight, yellow skin of free range chicken. The meat is firm, flavourful and not flabby. This chicken (hopefully) lived a good life and now I’m living a good life! Thank you, chicken!

The flavour of the short ribs was spot on! The ribs were marinated very well and had a honey glazed flavour. I found the black pepper sauce that came on the side to be too salty, however the black pepper was very potent. 4/5 stars Cutlet Fish Fillet I was rather impressed with this as well. I wasn't expected it to be very good, but it

I can’t really get technical with this food because after all it’s Hong Kong comfort food. Let’s just set they met the standards of HK food. The soups were okay: tomato soup tasted like canned tomato soup, and the chowder was really creamy. The pork chop was tender and not greasy! (surprise). I personally loved the basa because it was fried - the way I love my fish fillet. The spaghetti and corn is basically what
Constant Cravings
Here they don’t charge you an extra dollar for cold drinks which is probably one of their redeeming features. Hey a dollar is a dollar right? Fettucine with tomato sauce and sausages. There were also some mushrooms thrown in. The sauce was pretty generic stuff. You know the Asian pasta sauce that’s kinda ketchupy… it really wasn’t that great but edible and I don’t expect gourmet food here anyway. I

Good: Fries. Wow, these are the best tasting fries ever (especially from a HK cafe). Whenever you go to a HK Cafe, the fries are always fail but the sandwiches are awesome. If I can describe how it tastes… it is almost like Costco fries without the breaded crumbs.

As for Silver Tower Cafe Restaurant, it has made an acceptable impression on me. Personally, it’s not that cheapest HK Cafe out there, but at least it delivers promising portions and decent dishes. I would definitely want to come again, seeing we have found another great spot to eat!
FOOD FOR BUDDHA
Since both Buddha Boy and I had a very late lunch, we decided to have a later dinner at Silver Tower. Funny how Silver Tower is one of the places we used to go to all the time but never once took any pictures. I think the last time we were there was about

I love HK style restaurants because they are so convenient and reasonably priced. After visiting Matsuyama next door, we wanted to try Silver Tower.

Today I paid a visit to Richmond’s Silver Tower Cafe on Alexandra road. A suspiciously familiar looking logo caught my eye upon entering the parking lot.
