Review Stanley's Grill - Richmond

Why isn’t there an option for NO STARS?? Came here 2 weeks ago to eat and watch kids hockey game and one of the servers practically bit my head off for not showing my COVID vaxxed pass at the entrance. There was no sign to tell me to wait before entering. There were several “reserved” tables that remained empty for an hour after the booking time (Signs said 6:15pm). We found a table in the corner. Had menus thrown at us and absolutely no efforts made to answer questions about any other seating or food. Well, unless you want eyes rolled at you. 🙄 Then I called today to try and reserve a table and surprise - all of a sudden they don’t take reservations. I guess you need to be a regular and in the manager’s good books to get that extra special privilege. I would rather sit in the cold rink instead of the unnecessary rudeness and attitude and not to mention the stale smell of grease in your clothes. HARD PASS

Service was below average. Servers would chat with fellow staff rather than serve patron's food. We ordered a pizza with the works. Crust was made in-house. It was pretty thin which was good and the texture was even better. This was the only good thing about it. Cheese was definitely not mozzarella. Taste was a bit weak, probably because there was not that much sauce in it. We can tell our pizza sat in the kitchen for a while before it was served. It was slightly warm and the bottom of the crust was already steamy and a bit moist. Definitely not a place to get good food.

Service was below average. The servers are not terribly friendly. But what can you expect from a bar at an ice rink. Food for the most part is pretty good considering the location. So overall the place is not the worst. Downstairs at the rinkside grill near the entrance, there is an older Caucasian lady with glasses. She clearly doesn’t enjoy her job, and has an incredibly poor attitude.

Food and atmosphere was great for the location. The service was terrible. Its like the mandatory tip makes it okay for the servers to give bad service. My friend asked "can i have some utensils?" nicely and the server says Pleeeeease. Very rude. Other than that it is a great place to watch sport games.

Decent place, I would go back for their movie ticket promo alone. Prices are OK could be a little more balanced; portions are a bit small for the cost but the flavors are right. they also had a decent selection of domestic beer, not the cheapest again... but their daily specials are worth it.

I gave this place five stars, which you might think strange for a Bar located above a community ice arena. Just hear me out. Yeah it's a bar. They mostly have bar food. What do you want seared Waygu? I had the best Butter Chicken I've ever had in North America here and if that doesn't appeal to you the cod sandwich was also excellent. The staff is as friendly as they come in a nation already famous for friendliness. The service is lightning-fast and the whole place is bright and spotlessly clean. Shayla the bartendress knew the menu inside and out and took my order within seconds of me sitting down. This place is like the platonic ideal of a rinkside bar. They should make more like this.

The food was great and the atmosphere is fun but the service could use some help. Servers get overwhelmed when games are finishing and everyone is clearing out at the same time, it can take a while before someone acknowledges you. But the owner is super sweet and will apologize in person if the service takes a hit.

The City of Richmond owns this place it's a dump! No a/c on in 34 degrees hotness and can't watch my kid play from anywhere this place is f/×=£#.

Came here because Country Meadows was too full. Menus is a very standard pub style affair. They have great daily specials too. Don't expect a lot of healthy options though. I ended up getting the Baja salad, which was great except for the dressing that came with the salad. I switched it up for blue cheese and was set. Ingredients were very fresh. The server was super friendly and attentive to. However we were literally one of two table there.

Worst customer service and worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Can't say how the food tasted, since our server didn't remember to put my family's five orders through. It wasn't during the dinner rush, therefore not very busy. I don't feel that our server had any place interacting with customers, as the attitude was rude, aggressive and impatient. It was quite an unpleasant experience and they were completely unapologetic when informing us we waited a half hour and our meal wasn't even started. Needless to say forty minutes of my life wasted, I will never again walk into that establishment, nor will I recommend it to anybody. There are better businesses, with better prices, that appreciate my family's patronage.

Extremely poor quality. Slowest service ever ordered three waters to start two with lemon came first the reg water took more than 5 minutes. @$12 for an order. Paper thin freezer burgers over cooked and burnt. Fries were cold and not fresh. All very terrible food terrible service. This place does not live up to it's name. I was tempted to get up and leave once I saw my burger. -10 for this place and I won't ever be back. Took advantage of people who come here from out of town. Next time I'll drive to ironwood plaza.

Hidden Gem!. What a nice surprise! Was not expecting much, went over with kids after a movie, as they have a "two for One " appetizer deal with a reciept from the near by theater.<br/><br/>We were quickly welcomed to a comfortable atmosphere by a happy server and our order was taken right away. Staff were attentive, polite and very personable, it was nice for a change, to be treated like family when service seems to be so impersonal theses days. Ordered reasonably priced food that came quickly and the wings were droolingly DELICIOUS! Chatted with a lovely woman who works there who had just had a baby, she treated my children so kindly and patiently and was beyond sympathetic when we had a bit of a messy spill. I was so embarassed and she made sure we were all taken care of and it was no problem at all. It was a really good experience overall. I'm glad we found this place. It was clean, cozy, yummy, reasonable, friendly and the service was beyond expectations. I will be back first chance I get and recommend everyone in Richmond check out this hidden gem. I wish service like this existed everywhere.

Some of the worst service. When asked what we wanted to drink, we weren't sure yet so we asked for water. The server walked back to the bar area and rolled her eyes. This was quickly followed by another server (who I later on found out was manager) both obviously speaking poorly about us. We were sitting beside some regular customers there and we found out that is has been like that for years and that Stanley's used to have a comment box but the complaints never got resolved due to a horrible General manager that doesn't believe that any of the complaints are valid. Needless to say I was embarrassed to be there and I will not recommend the place to anyone.

The worst service ever.it's no wonder why the place is empty. Waitress( which we found out was manager) , was busy playing on her phone. Was rude. Aggressive. Just plain horrible. My recommendation. Stay away from this place

The worst. Went with the family to this place to kill some time before a movie, we had an hour and 15 minutes which we thought would be plenty of time to eat a quick meal. Wrong.<br/>Despite there being only one other table, took 15 minutes for the server to show up, then another five as she almost took our orders in an almost aggressively uninterested fashion, then half an hour for our food to show. But before that could happen, I had to go up to the server to ask about it, then be told by her coldly "it'll be here soon" as she stared past me at the TV she was trying to tune in. I could see my food going cold at the pass through the door to the kitchen behind her but she insisted she was waiting for fries.<br/>Had to come back to her to get drinks refilled (still playing with the TV), still no food until I complained about being late for our movie.<br/>Then the food - or at least some of it - arrived. Kids meals were microwaved frozen food - pizza and a hot dog. Wife's vegetarian burger was cold, missing half the ingredients, all the sauces, and was on a stale bun - no time to have it fixed so she just shared from others instead. <br/>My burger was still 10 minutes away and, when it arrived, had sauces on it despite me ordering the sauce in the side and having the server confirm that ten minutes later (which I guess is why it was ten minutes late?). It also, when I opened it up to find why it was crunchy, appeared to have been burned badly on one side and flipped to hide the charcoal. Perfect.<br/>The only decent menu item that showed up was the quesadilla, which I guess is because it was fresh made and not frozen.<br/>All this - frozen food, horrendously uninterested and slow service, oh and generic pop music played three levels too loud, all for $40.<br/>We made the movie. But left half the food behind to do so. <br/>Seriously, if you've only got two tables to serve, how can you do your job this badly? And if you're going to charge Vancouver prices for food, how about not making it obvious that you bought it all at Safeway's frozen food section? <br/>I've often wanted to come to this place because I figure, being out of the way, they could probably use local support. But now I know why it's always empty up there. It's just plain bad.

Friendly service, a nice spot to watch hockey.. I had never been up stairs at Stanley's before and was wanting to watch my niece play in her tourney and have a quick bite out of the cold. The sevice was friendly, I believe "Steve" manages the place and he was friendly and welcoming (he seemed to know everybody). Nice sports bar decor and very clean. I just had an order of fries and a pale ale- I was happy and my niece won her game. Will return next time I'm at the rink!
