The Taiwanese bao was delicious and the peanut sauce flavour is what makes it! The salt and pepper fried chicken was also very yummy not too heavily seasoned, it was just right. Also they are very on top of cleaning the tables and chairs.

I recently started a gluten free diet and the staff were super kind and receptive! They made me a delicious gluten-free fried tofu dish and vegetables :) They were very careful as well with making sure there was no contamination of gluten. Will definitely come back again!

Always an AMAZING meal — we eat here whenever we can. We came in just after 6:30 because we didn’t see it closed at 7. They were still very welcoming and kind — even sanitized a table for us — and didn’t once say that we were morons for coming in late and asking to be seated. Such great service. Cannot recommend enough.

Amazing. We live 40 minutes away from here but go as often as we can as the food is unrivalled. There is no better food for vegans or vegetarians in the lower mainland. Traditional Asian cuisine but done vegan. I can't articulate how tasty the food at this place is. It's unreal.

Great tasting fresh food at an affordable price at this family-run vegan/vegetarian Chinese restaurant. I went for lunch and got 42B for takeout, all of this pictured below came for only $13.50 before tax (after 10% off for take-out during COVID! I have a big appetite so I was able to finish it all and was STUFFED, but if someone like my wife came then this would easily be two meals. I also love that they offer brown rice for no additional cost and the brown rice is high quality, fresh and non-starchy and with NO stale aftertaste like in some restaurants! Another plus was that all the containers & cutlery (other than the plastic bag it was packed in) was biodegradable. Will definitely be coming here more often.

The best place to find vegan options in Richmond that I've ever seen. Love the curry mushroom dish and the black beancurd. The Chinese BBQ vegan bao was excellent.

After 3G closed down I didn't know where to go for delicious vegan Chinese food. Enter 4 stones. Everything I've ever tried is absolutely delicious beyond belief but my favorite is the radish cakes. Do yourself a favor and try them out. Indescribable amazement awaits!

Great Taiwanese restaurant in Richmond that is all vegetarian. They have a large number of vegan options too. I have the Kong pau spicy tofu, some braised greens,a n bitter Melon. Awesome! The staff was friendly and fast, and the food was stellar. I’kk be back for sure to check out more of their menu!

My daughter and I were regular customers for 3 years because we are vegan. Last week we ordered a curry dish that was very cold and spicy even though we specifically asked for a mild dish. When we complained about this to the menager and asked if we could have another dish instead we were asked to leave and never come back. My daughter and I were very hurt because the service was really bad. Moreover , the menager does not even speak English and is extremely rude. The restaurant has a few good dishes among its mostly mediocre dishes. I suggest to go eat where you are respected.

I have gone to many Asian cuisine places, I have eaten Taiwanese food in Taiwan, but this is the best comfort Chinese/Taiwanese food I have ever had! Word!

I have been visiting 4 Stones since they moved to this location. Really like the dishes and the service. One thing to mention, the take-out containers are the best I have seen!!
Nousheen Syed
Absolutely a great place to eat with an amazingly large menu! And I love how everything is veggie based but doesn't taste like it at all! Kong poa is the best dish!
Jessie Kunce
The best, most creative and affordable vegetarian dishes I have had the pleasure of experiencing.

Horrible service!!! A friend and I who are non-asian went to this restaurant to try some vegan food. Since we don't come to Richmond often, we took to google to see what vegan restaurants were in the area. We found this one and it had decent reviews. We were the first people through the doors at the 5pm dinner opening. Within 10min of being there, we had placed our order, our appetizers arrived quickly, but our main dish had not. The restaurant was filling up and we started to notice the people around us who came in later, who were asian, were getting their main dishes before us. 45 minutes had passed and we had still not received our food. I didn't want to believe that this was racially motivated, but I couldn't help but think that it might be. So being frustrated that we weren't getting our food, we decided to pay for our appetizers and leave. As we left the table to come up and pay, we could see the waitresses scrambling around to get something from the kitchen. As we got to the front, they said the food is coming next. At this point we decided not to return to our tables as we were extremely frustrated and disappointed in the service. When I asked them what took them so long? Hoping for an honest answer, I get: "The food is fresh so it took a long time to make", If that was true, that would mean everyone in restaurant would have had to wait as long as we did, but that was not the case, every asian received their food in a timely manner and we didn't. I can't be certain this was racial discrimination, but it sure felt like it, as we were the only non-asians in the restaurant!

Friendly staff and great food! I'm a repeat customer :)

The service and mood of the family is awesome. A sacred enchanted garden next to Richmond Center. The best in the business. A happy time. :)

This is my go-to place in Richmond. I’ve ordered take-out from here dozens of times and I’m always more than satisfied. Noodle dishes are great and the simulated meat is as good as it gets. They appear to be quite busy which isn’t surprising because of their exciting menu of high quality dishes which I can safely describe as top tier vegetarian food.
Loaf2go
Very helpful & friendly staff. Tasty sauce & entrée, though I wish there was more. Vegetable soup was thin. Would love to try their many other vegan ‘meat’ options! (3.5/5)

I would give this place a 0 for service if I could. I ordered a vegetable stir-fry noodle dish over the phone and the lady told me it was busy and I'd have to wait 30 minutes, which I said was absolutely fine. When I arrived at the restaurant, they said they didn't have the noodle and couldn't make the dish! They said they tried calling me back which was a lie. I then asked if they could make it with another noodle and they said they can't because it was busy. First of all, don't lie in saying you tried to contact me because you didn't. Second of all, it's a stir fry. I don't care what noodles you make it from. Third of all, when I ask you if you can make it now (after a 30 minute wait already) don't point at your orders and say it's busy. Absolutely absurd. Terrible service and will not recommend to anyone.

So disappointed. After all the good reviews. The curried chicken on rice was delicious but the vegetable and vietnamese noodles and chow mein were totally boring. Service was mediocre. The portions were way too big so very wasteful if you couldn't take a doggy bag and since it wasn't good anyway, why take it?
TonyB
What an awesome find in Richmond! The place was lined up out the door when I showed up on a Tues night. The entire menu is vegetarian and they have many vegan options. I had the bitter melon & kong pao spicy tofu. Both were outstanding. The menu is extensive - I’ll be back to explore it more deeply!
THE ELITE CLUB
The first time we ate here (4 stones) was about a year ago, the food was good and reasonably priced. If you check their menu online, old prices are still there so you have a notion that food there is still reasonably-priced. This time however, I ate with my two sons and after waiting for about 20 minutes or more for our food, the curry I ordered came. Boy it was so BLAND and watery, as in no taste at all! So I asked for salt. The food totally sucked, but my son was so hungry that time so I gave it to him and partly ate it. I ordered white steam rice, but they said they have no white and served me only brown rice, which was hard and tasted starchy like on the verge of getting spoiled already. We were so disappointed as we were expecting that we will have good vegetarian dinner. I did not make a big deal anymore as I did not want to create a scene that will disturb other customers. But the servers were feeling my disgust of the food so they keep on refilling our water and tea. They know from their heart that they served us crappy meal. I have no problem waiting for 20 minutes or more for food, as long as it is worth waiting. BUT that night, IT WAS NOT. THE FOOD WAS TASTELESS! We paid $68 dollars for us three and it was not even worth it! I just charged it to my experience and will NOT eat here again. It is all HYPE. These people when they get good reviews, they become condescending and complacent. DO NOT BELIEVE the long line you see there. DO NOT FALL TO THIS PRETENTIOUS TRAP. Believe me; it is NOT worth the wait.
James
OK. The food here isn't bad. I'm a carnivore and I was satisfied; however, the service is among the worst I've ever had. Make sure you order your food and drinks and anything you think you might want straight away because it'll be your only chance. If you think you can drink two glasses of water during your meal, order them both at once. My friend and I were the first two people in the restaurant at exactly 5:00. I got my meal in about half an hour (including the ordering process), but there were tables that had already come and gone before friend got his. He actually never got it at all... after over an hour we ended up just leaving before it ever came. (Yes, we paid for what we got.) I wouldn't recommend this place because I couldn't care less if food is veg or vegan and I have a plethora of better options available to me. Sucks to be those of you riding the hipster vegan wagon though. Too bad for you. :(

I never remember names… What was this place called? Vegetarian Taiwanese food, absolutely delicious but very salty. I had to chug a liter of water when I got home. Right, 4 Stones. Had this very interesting deep fried… tofu? It was soft on the inside. Came with the sauce. I don’t remember really liking this. Dumplings! One of my favourite foods, and this one tasted like it had real meat filling inside (remember, it’s a vegetarian restaurant). In the top right corner, there’s a soupy looking bowl… This tasted goooood. It came with rice and assorted side dishes, including veggies.

Eating in Richmond really is an experience. I only discovered this place because the local hot spot Kirin was fully booked. Similar to Ko Pong on Kingsway, I'm really starting to love this genre if food: Chinese Vegetarian. The food was super favourable and filling. This place put a lot of thought into their food too and their starting dish with fresh food and mixed nuts was such a special touch to the meal. I saw the girl preparing this dish and you could see the love going into its placement. Great value too!
Candy_foodie
One of the best vegetarian food I had. Came here with my family and family's friends. Ordered quite a bit of food. Very delicious! The veggie meat are so yummy comparing to western veggie meat.

I go there for several times.... the girl, boss's daughter is very nice, everytime she gives the big smile. But the boss, that old lady is too affectedly unconventional to talk customers, I don't know why. !!amitofo!! As we reserve the table, even the lunch time is very rush for us, She said she was busy and hanged on our phone call ! SHOCK !

Service is average, though if you know the owners, you get special service. Food is delicious but some dishes are quite oily. Parking isn't that great but it's much better than their previous location.

Best veggie restaurant in LM. Been going here since the Simply Vegetarian days.
The family that owns this place are so adorable. Yes some things are pricey but worth it.

Food is amazing.

Just go there and taste the stuff!!

Horrible service. Do not recommend this place! they have real bad attitude
Dontgotobostonpizzaalone
Horrible service! No manners at all! Do not recommend!

A bit pricey but good.. Portions are quite small here. And I find that most dishes are either fried, starch heavy, or deep in gravy. We did order a plain vegetable dish which was very good but overpriced for the portion. Still it was a good/slightly above average experience overall and we will be back to try some more dishes.
Jim
Could be better. After trying them for lunch, 3 times in a row, I can say that you really need to know which dishes are good and which are not.
Most of them , so far, seem to be bland and without any particular flavor..but some are better: still trying to find that one :)

Tofu Stew was quite satisfying and good value!

TERRIBLE FOOD, DON'T WASTE YOUR $$ HERE. Where to start? I am accustomed to lousy to zero service at Chinese restaurants, but this one takes the cake for ZERO service and HORRIBLE food. We had to repeatedly request tea refills, flag someone down to take down our order - all this while the entire waitress/kitchen staff sat down in the regular dining room to eat. Why not put a "DO NOT DISTURB SIGN AS STAFF ARE EATING" sign hanging on the entrance door so people go elsewhere to get service? As it was our first time dining here as my friend is vegetarian we decided to give it a try for their lunch service. We ordered the kung pao veggie chicken dish (regular and not the smaller combo size). Upon arrival, the serving was quite small for the $16 price tag we paid. We also ordered the Taiwanese fried noodle which looked like a heaping SLOPPY GROSS mess. It tasted just as bad as it looked. Nothing fried by the looks of it. It tasted extremely bland, and was so terrible I wouldn't even feed it to my dog! We both took one bite, and decided we wouldn't have anymore. We complained to the waitress who had the chef owner come to our table, and basically told us we already ate some of it so she wasn't going to take it off our bill. I then asked for a discount since we were not going to take the leftovers home (and we left STILL hungry) and only took 2 tiny bites out of the dish. The owner refused and we left informing the waitress we would never come back and would write our review online. DONE and DONE. Don't waste your time and money here.

The best. I love this place. The food is wonderful and full of flavour. The staff are freindly ;only downside is lack of parking in the complex they are located. Don't let that hold you back... it is worth waiting for a parking spot!

Veg head In Richmond. If you want delicious food ....this is the place. I have been coming to this restaurant for about 2 years. The space it self, is clean and the service is OK, they do tend to forget about you once your order is taken, but overall very acceptable and courteous.
The flavors and values at this place are off the chart... every time i go there i leave happy... whether you are a vegetarian or not ...check it out,,,,,Delish !!
The menu is huge and i just like to watch what comes to other peoples tables..to see the variety they have ... always fresh....

Awesome vegetarian food. Kimchi fried rice was AMAZING. everyone who loves vegetarian food NEEDS to go here!!

Veggie gyozas are hands down my favorite dish.. Soya sauce is too salty but it jams with the gyozas. I orders teriyaki veggie chicken fried rice which was good ( a little on the sweet side ) and also the veggie chicken teriyaki noodle which wasn't bad. Overall I would go there for takeout. Too depressing to sit there and eat. Order take out and eat it at the Richmond dykes... Make sure you tell them to load a lot of hot sauce as some of the dishes need it. Deep fried spicy tofu is gross. Avoid that dish

Below Average. The problem with 4 stones is the lack of healthy food. We ordered ~12 items tonight. Some were the waitress recommendations. Some dumplings, soup noodles, signature tofu dish and fried rice. There were very little to none fresh vegetables in the food, but mostly starch and dried veggies with lots and lots of oil and salty sauce. we just could not find even one item that is healthy. we just quit eating half way because they were swimming in oil. And the salty gravy is just too much. The waitresses just sneaked by and tried not to interact after we ordered. No chance of getting some water or an extra plate. And the price wasn't that good. It was pretty disappointing.

Knew about this restaurant for a while now, and with my recent commitment to give up red meat thought I would give it a try. Pleasantly surprised! I love lettuce wrap so I ordered it, and it was good although a bit on the salty side and didnt have too many ingredients. The homestyle tofu was a very simple dish but overall the food was all good.

For Vegans it is good. I agree with some of the other reviews that the mock meats can be hit and miss but for Veggie fair it is a decent option when you are in Richmond.

Decor is lackluster with basic tables, an odd little book stand as you enter and not much in the way of exciting wall coverings.

Food: I always have the spinch dishes, mappo tofu, some of the chicken options. I try to stay away from the three treasures, some of the pork but I haven't had a horrible dish here, just some shine more than others.

Service: Processing out your bill can be time consuming as it always seems there is only one person who can use the till. However the food tends to arrive quickly after being ordered and you get refills on tea or extra items when you order them quickly as well.

In general this isn't my fine dining vegan choice, but it definitely serves for a quick lunch or dinner that will be tasty and filling.
YumVegGrub
Yummier mock meats around than here.... We were thoroughly disappointed. Out of all of the dishes we ordered, we just liked the one - the Lemon Chicken. The rest were so bland, didn't even include the ingredients listed on the menu and portions are rather scanty. Didn't have to wait too long to get our order in but other than that there was no service at all....we didn't get a tea refill until we were about to leave after asking over 10 minutes earlier. Perhaps it's better for lunch?

Probably the restaurant in Richmond that I dislike the most.. I took my family to this restaurant for lunch. The service here was horrible. It took the servers forever to take our orders and bring us our receipt at the end. They said that there's a minimum charge of $4.99 per person, but never mentioned having each person order one dish. Since I have children with me, I decided to order bigger lunches so we could share. The cost was more than double $4.99 per person, but the waitress forced us each to order one each.

Although I didn't like it when they forced us to order one each, I let that problem slide because I could take the extra food home anyway. The food was not to my expectations. The noodles I ordered was really oily. I also ordered a rice topped with sauce. In my opinion, the dish was too salty and there was way too much sauce. It felt like eating a really salty curry congee.

The servers ignored us most of the time. Overall, I have never disliked a restaurant this much before. My family is already considered to be very easygoing with food.

Amazing. I swear what I was eating was tastier than any meat dish anywhere else. Kudo's to the chef. I will be back without a doubt.

Amazing food, even better service. I am not a fan of Asian food, I never had been and until today I thought I never would be. I am new to Richmond and new to vegetarianism. The great thing that started this wonderful experience is when I called, I was greated very warmly. I was looking at the menu online and I had some questions. Being a vegetarian, I understand how frustrating it can be to answer questions about the lifestyle. But the girl answered all of questions fully and patiently. What's more is that when I ordered some rice, she gave me the option between white and brown rice which usually doesn't happen and I end up going to pick my food up only to find out that they never gave me the option so that was really awesome to hear. When I ordered, I made it for a specific time and was delighted to find that it was ready when I arrived. I was greeted warmly by name and was asked whether or not I wanted chopsticks and when I asked for a fork she told me she already put it in the bag just in case. Another plus was that when I paid in cash I got a %10 discount. I will definitely make this my regular spot, it's nice to know that richmond has such a great vegan/vegetarian/local option:) Oh and the house sauce is amazing.

LOVED it!. Randomly stumbled upon this restaurant one night when my boyfriend and I wanted to grab a bite to eat, and boy was it ever GOOD! We asked the waitress (who was the owner's daughter) to recommend us their best dishes, so we had a deep fried "chicken" cutlet (probably made from bean curd) with brown rice, their 4 stones noodles with Special Sauce, and deep friend Abalone mushrooms. Now I'm not a vegetarian, but this place makes me want to be one. PS They also offer vegan options :) Definitely coming back again VERY soon!

I've been there several times, I may say the chef is pretty creative and food tast good, service ??!! Family style management?! No system at all, I feel sorry for the servers

One of the Better Veggie Joints. Been here a ton of times for lunch, Pineapple Surprise w/ Brown rice is a staple order for myself, and my good friends who's office is across the street always goes with the fiery Kung Pao Veggie Chicken!! I dig it, nice family owns and operates this place.

Delicious. Tried this place for dinner and found the food to be very tasty. We had kung pao mock chicken and eggplant and basil in chou hoa sauce. A good pair of dishes to have together and were both very tasty. I noticed dumplings being prepared and decided after the dinner to try some. We had the pan fried gyoza. They were also very nice. Overall, a very enjoyable meal, and the service was good too.

Food is great. The atmosphere is interesting, but the food is great. If your looking for good chinese restaurant, try 4 Stones Vegetarian Cuisine.

Tasty and very affordable! Seems like a family-run operation with hard-working servers and chefs. Friendly, with simple and rustic fare. A must try!

After trying 3G , we have more confidence and interests in vegetarian restaurant:) Here comes another famous vegetarian restaurant! ......4 Stones Vegetarian surprises me a bit because at first I thought their dishes would be bland (I’m sorry>
Every Day Is A Food Day
First, we shared the Deep Fried Veggies Oysters as an appetizer. I was surprised that the restaurant presents their dishes quite nicely. The so called oysters were actually tofu. The batter is light and for some odd reason, it actually had some oyster flavour to it. It came with a satay-like sauce to dip. Very good! Overall, 4 Stones Vegetarian is a great choice if you're looking for Chinese vegetarian food. They have a large selection of choices, and shows that there are endless options other than eating salads. Reservations will most likely be needed for large groups, and they seem to cater to these groups quite well. Parking is also an issue, but other than that, they seem to have a loyal customer base since their food is quite consistent. Service is friendly, but also quite slow since there are not too many servers and the restaurant is always busy.
Every Day Is A Food Day
My friend brought me to 4 Stones Vegetarian Restaurant and I was really amazed at the dishes they were able to make! I’ve had vegetarian food before, but haven’t tried this place yet, and people

It was quite flavourful and felt just like the rest thing stir fried with meat, but instead stir fried with bean curd. As we ate more though, the bottom revealed a large pool of oil. Was that going in our stomachs? Kinda disgusting.

4 Stones is always packed with people at meal times, I can't remember if it was late lunch or early dinner when we decided to go, but we were very glad we did not have to wait for a table and also that their parking spots were actually available. The rest

This Golden Veggie Chicken Cutlet with Rice (金牌素吉排飯) was apparently their specialty...hahaha...Buddha Boy, who had a clear view of the kitchen, saw the chef just opened a sealed package and dumped it in the fryer...LMAO!!!

A lot of fake meat options and voted “Best Chinese Vegetarian Cuisine” but I didn't get it. It serves Taiwanese vegetarian cuisine and it's busy.
